Beautiful place. Visited twice out of three days in Trondheim. Very tasty food, gourmet level. All dishes are imaginative. Good friendly service. Recommended to visit.

Wonderful experience here! We came and were accommodated without a reservation. The wait staff was very attentive, and the chef personally greeted us at our table and made sure our food was cooked correctly and to our liking. My wife ordered halibut and I ordered octopus - both very delicious and exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend eating here.

Had the 8-course taster menu, great choice to try lots of dishes and overall big portion. The restaurant is right by the river and a window table is most ideal.

The foods are absolutely delicious here in Havfruen. And apart from delicious foods, what makes the experience more wonderful is their excellent service. All the staffs are very attentive, friendly, helpful, and have good initiatives. Eating here is highly recommended.

I returned to Trondheim for my NTNU 10 year graduation anniversary and Havfruen was suggested. What an exceptional dining experience. I was luckily offered a table by the window's with a terrific view of the river. Dinner was perfectly prepared, served, and tasted delicious.

Lovely service. Really kindly followed our reservation requests and special food requirements. Great view and the fish was outstanding.

We chose the fish of the week for dinner. We received wonderfully prepared pollock with wasabi sauce and baked potatoes. It's rare for me to be so satisfied after the meal. Well-Deserved applause for the chef. In addition, friendly and competent service, interiors adapted from an old warehouse in the historical part of Trondheim create a unique and pleasant atmosphere. I recommend this place without any reservations.

I've been waiting for the restaurant to reopen since last year. Wonderful decor, excellent food, lovely atmosphere, the best staff ever. Strongly, strongly recommended

Upon the suggestion of the front desk at the Clarion Hotel, my friends & I wanted seafood since we were on the water in Trondheim. Fairly easy to find its located on a canal off the fiord. Service was friendly & attentive, a kudos to our waitress Fannie. Though we came for seafood I started with a moose tar tar, it was tender, and exquisite, some trumpet mushrooms, I questioned putting chips in the mix, but it was the right mix. I liked it enough to order 3 of these dishes. Next I had a mushroom risotto. It was a good rich, dense, had come with a grated, sharp cheese already on top, though I prefer to add the cheese. It was good, especially for a place I wouldn't expect it. Though I would not order it again, save it for the Italians. The main course was Halibut, with a Kale side, artichoke's & a cream sauce more akin to a Hollandaise sauce. The fish was a nice portion (finally) and seared on one side and cooked just right. It was tasty and flaked away. The 'butter sauce' was more a solid as it was not liquid and was soft & delish! a nice sauce for the halibut. My colleague had the cod and was very pleased. In all a charming place on the canal, good food & good service, I'll be back.

Great atmosphere, right on the water. The food is so good. Park by the cathedral and you are close by.

Just walked into this restaurant because the menu looked nice from the street and it was close to my hotel. Glad I did. The water view was excellent and I had a catfish special to die for. Service was excellent too. Would come here again, if in town.

Incredibly poor experience at a highly rated restaurant. 20:15 reservation. Seated immediately although no water or waitstaff for 15 minutes. We ordered appetizer and full meal all at that moment (20:30). Out appetizer finally came at 21:15. Apologies of 'it's been a busy week'. This is Friday night and the restaurant is half full. At 21:00 we left, still waiting for our main course. Our waitress had it been to our table in an hour, and we asked a different server for refills if our drinks. Extremely disappointed.

This is the best fish restaurant for people who likes delicate prepared food. Don't expect large portions. You will have balanced dishes with ingredients from the region. The chef's effort is shown on your plate, personally I think he can be more aggressive in choosing his flavors. The wine list was too tempting in the middle of the week. The wine is excellent, I have stayed with house wine. The restaurant is for foodies. You really are going to enjoy it!

Excellent location for fish with perfect service in great ambiente. Creamed fish soup, scallops and salmon tartar, redfish and halllibut as well as both desserts and the Chablis delicious.
