Truth be told, this is my favorite coffee shop on the island. I've been going to Lion Coffee since 1995 when I used to work right around the corner from their location. They actually originated in Toledo, OH. in 1864, then moved to Honolulu in 1979. They're one of the oldest coffee companies and certainly one of the best. You don't last that long in the industry unless you have something special!
My go-to drink is their Vanilla Thai Latte with oat milk. It is so, so good! Yes, it's sweet. Yes, it has condensed milk. Yes, it has a lot of calories... but I don't care! I need to have it at least once or twice whenever I'm in town.
In addition to their craft drinks, they also offer Hawaii flavored coffee such as Macadamia Nut, Toasted Coconut, Kaka'ako Caramel, etc. You can get it by the cup or bag. They also sell cold brew and tea. Prices are on par with other coffee shops on the island.
Perhaps the only drawback to this location is the parking sitch. To put it bluntly, there is none! They're located in an industrial area of Kalihi and you have to find street parking, which is slim to none. However after you illegally park somewhere, you'll enter into a nice, spacious coffee shop with plenty of tables and even a little museum showcasing the history of Lion Coffee.
They're open on the weekdays from 6am-3:30pm, but closed on the weekends and holidays. Service is always friendly and full of aloha!
