Hawaiian Style Cafe Hilo

We went in on Memorial Day with a party of 10. The wait was 50 minutes but it was so worth it. I’ve heard all about the Loco Moco that they have here and everything I had been told was right. The food was so good. The staff was attentive and helpful. The atmosphere is that of a cafe style restaurant. If you are on the fence about going, just do it. You’ll be happy you got it.

Huge portions, so order accordingly. Lechon was delicious. Lamb ribs tasty. Haupea Pancakes on, bit too big and crumbly for my liking, also enormous. Our waiter started out friendly but friendliness and service declined as the dining went on. Overall solid spot if you want to fill yourself up and enjoy some local favourites.

The best, huge serving size, absolutely delicious meal I've had in months. The price was less than most places I've visited and the staff was warm and helpful. I definitely recommend the Lechon (pen belt with tomatoes, onions, and patis sauce). Oh, this dish was wonderful as leftovers also. I see many people ordering breakfast

We arrived here on a Christmas eve for dinner hoping to get fed as they were understaffed and there were lines of people waiting. Huge respect for them to keep the business open - the staff repeatedly apologized for delayed service but kept their cheer all throughout the evening. We ordered chicken cutlet loco moco and salad with Korean chicken and dumplings. The portions were huge - my wife remarked that they almost put a full lettuce in the salad - so generous! The chicken cutlet was tasty and the gravy was outstanding. I wanted more of that gravy but they had ran out by that time. The dumplings and chicken in the salad were great too. We were grateful to be able to have meal on a holiday night.

Delicious food and great service. Clean restaurant. Portions are massive. We come here when we plan our trips from Kona. Haupia pancakes are delicious. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoor seating available.

If there is a wait, its always worth it. This spot always hits the right spot. Generous portions mean there's always enough to savor later. The flavors are great, making every bite a mini celebration. It's the kind of place you crave when you're seriously hungry. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a satisfying meal.

Very busy breakfast and lunch restaurant in Hilo. We wait approximately 30 minutes to be seated. Friendly staff took care of us at our outside seating. We ordered French toast and haupia pancakes. Both portions were huge. Only able to finish half the pancakes. Good service, quick delivery of our food. It was a comfortable day to sit under their covered patio.

Cute style and very homey feel, restrooms are clean and well stocked; wheelchair accessible. Plenty of outdoor seating for the wait-list, though we only had to wait 7 minutes. We got the lechon and the lamb ribs. It is the BEST lamb I have ever had, and the best meal I've eaten in the state! Definitely going to miss those ribs when I go back to Oahu....
