Excellent poke but I'd order with the regular white rice instead of the sushi rice as I noticed my sushi rice has a lot of undercooked hard rice. The shop shares space with the shaved ice shop which is excellent and also very popular with customers. There's onsite parking too.

What I heard was popular was the waffle dog but I didn't have it.. It's a small menu very clean with a separate shave ice and poke counter. 10 stall parking on the property with some street parking. Hawaii's favorite kitchen is operated by the same owner as Rainbow drive-inn there connected. Handicap accessible no restroom inside but around the corner at Rainbows. I had the chili bowl and it was ok but didn't knock my skirt up. Aloha

Inside this location is Shimazu Shave Ice. This place has some of the best shave ice in town with some of the lowest prices for sure. They only accept cash. We ordered a Kid Size ($5.00) and it was more than plenty for us. I highlight recommend getting the lilikoi, ube, and strawberry creme flavors as they are just excellent. I also added mochi, ice cream, and condensed milk to it ($0.75 for each) and it was worth it!

No frills plate lunches, poke, sandwiches, and shaved ice. Good quality food, friendly staff, and within walking distance of Waikiki. Definitely worth checking out after hitting the beach or surfing. The shaved ice was definitely my daughter's favorite (great flavors and massive size, even for the kids size!). And if it's not for you, Rainbow Drive-In is right next door!

I live in the neighborhood and yesterday I decided to stop by and ask for a take out menu. The woman at the counter was very dismissive and very unkind. First she said, there's no menu, then she threw her hands over her shoulder and said it's right there. I tried to shake it off and proceed, but her hostility told me to leave which I did. She also cut me off as I told her bye and I would look online. I will continue to support Diamond Head Grill, SouthShore Grill, L&L Kahala, and a few other spots where I'm appreciated and treated respectfully. Funny, I had the same experience at Rainbow Drive Inn years ago and haven't returned since. Maybe the tourists support them all....oh well!

Not that special but good food. Personally like the spicy sauce comes with the rotisserie chicken. Free car parking right in front is a bonus even though it's tight and scary to get out. Don't like their website because it doesn't explain the menu well( what's your choices are for mixed plate etc). Also it's confusing in the shop too. Mac salad is good.

Google
Excellent quality Hawaiian grill food next to a busy and popular drive-in, location has its own parking available and has a shave ice bar attached as well. We tried the chicken and pork combination dish and it was very delicious, certainly will be coming back when in the island again.

Incredible spot for some local Hawaiian food - I expected good food, but was blown away with how good it was. You can get a little bit of everything in here from: Mike's Chicken to Shimzu Shave Ice to Poke Stop to KC Drive In. Huli Chicken was incredible (juicy and great flavor) and the red Huli sauce was one of the sneaky best things I've ever eaten. I would bathe in this stuff if it was possible. Perfect blend of heat and sweet. The kiddos loved their waffle dogs. The poke was pretty good, too: Sesame Ahi and Edamame Ginger.

Yelp
A mix of local goodness may be found here at Hawaii's Favorite Kitchen. Are you ono for shaved ice, poke, snacks and more? You can stop by here and pick up a mixed plate of local goodies! Rainbow Drive In sells the plate lunches here as well. What is different here is the Kitchen offers fresh made limu ahi, pickled ogo , garlic edamame, tofu poke, garlic shrimp and more. Shimazu Shave Ice makes so many varieties that you can stare at the options for so long. Pick up li hing mui gummies and prune mui to go. The small shave ice is huge and a great value! The Holly snacks are a favorite of mine. Melting moments and garlic pretzels to go! There's a nice clean seating area that closed at 6:50 pm. The service here was fast and friendly.

Yelp
Located in Kapahulu, next to Rainbow Drive in on Castle St. It has its own small parking lot separate from Rainbow's. If you're craving waffle dogs, Shimazu shave ice, poke, plate lunch and want a one stop place to get everything, this is the place to come. You can get plate lunches with teri beef, chicken, chili and other favorites, poke bowls- pretty much a scaled down menu of Rainbow drive Inns menu without the long lines. There's ice cream floats made with real ice cream, whipped cream, sprinkles and a cherry! Alas I didn't see the famous KC Drive inn Ono Ono Shake on the menu. Staff is pretty friendly, especially the lady making the waffle dogs in the back. Speaking of waffle dogs, you can get it smothered in Rainbow drive inn chili- yum! There's a small dine-in area inside so you can eat your meal in AC comfort.

Yelp
We were looking for authentic Hawaiian food and this spot was absolutely perfect! You can order food from a few different Hawaiian spots in this one location, which is perfect because it allows you to try a few different things on one plate. My spouse got the beef plate and I tried the HWK plate so we were able to try a few different things, including plate lunch with Mac salad (some of the best I've ever had), poke, and roasted chicken. The service is quick and kind - there was no line when we came here around 1:00pm. We had the entire place to ourselves! There is also a shave ice place in here but we didn't have enough room to try the shave ice after our lunch plates. Highly recommend if you're looking for an affordable and authentic meal!

Yelp
Roast chicken plate lunch for $11 , yes please ! But my go to here is waffle hot dogs ! 2 waffle hot dogs freshly made to order ...$11 , yes please !! Still a very good value place but at times parking really sucks !

Yelp
My daughter had a dentist appointment and we decided to go to Waikiki after. We decided to check out Hawaii's Favorite Kitchens. I always see it when we get food from Rainbows next door. The parking lot is small but we were lucky and got a good spot. There's two counters when you enter. One is for Shimazu shave ice and one is for the other food items. I ordered a waffle dog for my daughter and two rotisserie chicken plates for me and my husband. I got him the one with no rice which cost me an extra 70 cents, which really isn't too bad. At Shimazu's I got my daughter a rainbow shave ice that came with banana, strawberry, and vanilla. My first question was if they have a take out container. And they do! If they said no, my daughter wouldn't have gotten one. I can just picture that shave ice spilling all over my car. It's pretty much one price for the take out but I didn't mind, because it all worked out. The food came out pretty quick and we were excited to take it home. The shave ice looked good. I gave my daughter a taste before we set off for home. It was good. Told her she couldn't have it until we got back. She said okay. We made it home and the chicken plates were huge. I really liked that it came with vegetables. Most plate lunches don't come with vegetables at all. It wasn't fresh vegetables but it was still nice to have it on your plate. My husband and I both enjoyed our lunch. My daughter ate her waffle dog on the way back. We didn't even get a bite of that so I guess you can conclude that it was delicious. What surprised me most was the shave ice. My daughter wanted to hold it the whole ride even though she couldn't eat it. She kept giving me ride checks saying "it's still good mommy, it's not melting." True test of patience. I think I would have devoured that thing... We had the shave ice when we got home. She loved it. It was huge but she tried to eat as much as she could. Check out this place if you're in the area. They have a variety of different options and the prices aren't too bad.

Coleen F.

Yelp
We had KC waffle dogs and the garlic shrimp plate. Both were delicious. Service at the counter was okay, food was ready quickly.

Yelp
This hidden store sits in the shadows of an iconic drive in right behind it. There are six or seven parking spaces here though I usually park at Rainbow and walk around here for dessert. I must admit that I've only patronized one business here, namely Shimazu Store for their soothing and delicious shave ice, no; I didn't misspell it as there is no 'd', as all locals know. I remember one of my first visits here was to share a shave ice with a couple of friends after a filling meal next door. Three dudes with hefty appetites struggled to finish that cooling dessert. I still have yet to try the other offerings like the huli huli chicken though I don't believe Mike's is behind that now, or maybe I'm wrong. It'll soon be two years since my last visit. And trust me I have been tempted to make a trip but it doesn't quite feel like the right time yet.

Yelp
Lookin' fo' a spot to grind and Rainbow's is waaaay to crowded? Go next door to Hawaii's Favorite Kitchen on Castle St. They have a smaller parking lot and some indoor seating, but due to COVID restrictions, they are only doing take out orders. They close earlier than Rainbow Drive Inn (7pm vs 9pm) but serve almost the same menu as Rainbow's and they have brown rice and steamed veggies. They use to have a business that sold fresh poke, but going to blame COVID on their departure. Shimazu's Shave Ice is STILL located inside this joint and you can still get your frozen treat hea if you need relief from the weather. The KC Drive Inn Waffle Dog is also sold hea and dat tastes pretty much the same as when KC's was still open... you don't know KC Drive Inn? Neither do I ;D. My go to dishes are are the Boneless Chicken with Brown Gravy & All Brown Rice... a classic from next door or the Curry Chicken Bowl... The Boneless Chicken plate I usually get hea, if I'm around wen dey open. Lately, haven't been able to get hea til after they close so settling with Rainbow's version is no lost to meh. Still ono, just no brown rice. The Curry Chicken Bowl with Brown Rice and Steam Vegetables is a wee-nah! This bowl is only found hea and is pretty cheap too. Don't want to post the cost, for not sure if COVID has raised this price too, but is a good deal hea & ONO! They seem to use rotisserie chicken, de-boned, then drop in their version of Japanese curry and then stewed. Very comfort-like food fo' my palate and tummy. Have gotten shaved ice hea a few times, and Shimazu's doesn't disappoint with flavor and toppin' choices... as long as I get condensed milk on top of mines, no matter da flavor to me ;) So, if you're in the Kapahulu area and need something to snack on, go to Hawaii's Favorite Kitchen... til my next snackin' visit, Grind On, Pau!

Yelp
Came here for the shaved ice & to avoid the rainbows line... turns out they have rainbows inside along with other grill plates! We got the beef grill plate with steamed veggies because we were tired of mac salad haha it was a good quick eats place after we played a few hours of pickle ball at diamond head tennis center. We got a small shaved ice and it was huge. We also had 6 ppl to share with and small was enough. Glad we didn't get the large for $9 because that would of been too much! We added azuki beans and Mochi to bottom and choose flavors Ube cream, coconut cream and royal milk tea. It was quickly starting to melt in the sun so it ended up one huge purple puddle in the end. Luckily the cup / tray holder was very handy. No places to eat inside. Need to eat outside or take to nearby park. Very messy but worth it, lots of flavors to choose from. Like Li hing mango, lychee and even durian! Appealed to the real Asian in me haha it's cash only so make sure you bring cash and tip!

San S.

Yelp
Bought 2 waffle dogs. Checked if they sold beef stew, since they also sell rainbow menu items. No such luck, they had chicken stew, but my parents wanted beef. Asked if I can park in their lot to go rainbows next door, they were ok with it. Also came back after rainbows and bought ogo ¼ lb and spicy ahi ¼ lbs.

Rosette C.

Yelp
Enjoyed my Easter Got a mixed -plate and a bag of cookies made me happy and meal plate was delicious and it comes with one choice of poke too. Chicken sauce was delicious broke the mouth too. Very Ono thumbs up to HFK... Darling service and good feeling ambiance in place...

Sheri Lyn O.

Yelp
Next to Rainbow's Drive Inn! Parking is small with some parking stalls. If not you will need to find street parking. I posted their temporary hours. Always go here for the Smoked Salmon Tofu Salad!!!! My Father-In-Law bought us some and I fell in love with it ever since! But because it was later on during the day on a Sunday... of course it was already SOLD OUT! Shucks! So for the first time ever, I had to order something different. I ordered the Rotisserie chicken plate and brah, even that was so good!!! Juicy! I thought the white part of the chicken would be dry... but nope! Every part of the chicken was juicy!

Miyuki I.

Yelp
This shop is combined several shops .you can buy Shave ice also Rainbow drive in meals . They have Poke don as well .

Johnny H.

Yelp
Place is clean and well air conditioned. Service was ok as there was no line or anything on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered waffle dogs for myself and two boys. It was really junk for the price. Nobody finished their waffle dog

Sharon H.

Yelp
Garlic shrimp plate. First time here, not welcoming at all. No acknowledgment from the two people that were on staff. It looks clean, however the tables were sticky I'm assuming from the shave ice (which looked huge!). The shrimp was good when we got it. As time went on though, it got really tough. It came on the cardboard container and it didn't really soak through. I asked if I could bring my own container and they said no. Will come back for the shave ice in the future, not for anything else.

Kim S.

Yelp
***Open for take out*** Doing our part to support local small businesses during the pandemic. My fav: pork bowl w/brown rice & veggies. The bbq pork is the same as served at parent company Rainbow Drive Inn next door. Why do I order from Hawaii's Favorite Kitchens? Because there is no upcharge for brown rice & veggies. Called in our order. They accept cash & cards.

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Whenever I'm craving some rotisserie chicken, this place is my go to restaurant! It's conveniently located in Kapahulu next to Rainbow Drive-in. Great for take out since service is fast. Besides the yummy chicken, there are combination plates on the menu as well. And just like their name, they have local favorites like waffle hot dogs, floats, poke and more! I've been getting take out from here a lot more these days due to the quarantine. I'm grateful they have the delicious local food I can rely on to fill my cravings! Happy eating!

Johnny T.

Yelp
Food is decent but their customer service sucks. Charges you for extra sauce. Very bad customer service from cashier girl that doesn't know anything.

Rizma W.

Yelp
Tried poke here for the first time and I was not disappointed. I got two kinds of poke from the Ahi Assassin's counter. The folks behind the counter let me try a few of the flavors, and offered some good recommendations. The poke was served with my choice of white or brown steamed rice. I opted for the brown rice, but I really could have eaten the poke by itself. It was chewy and buttery and seasoned lightly but very well. A light but refreshing lunch. There are a few other food vendors in this building, and I wish I had brought my appetite that day because I would have absolutely concluded my meal by getting a snow cone from the next counter over.

Isa H.

Yelp
Rude ass service with good food. Why 3 stars? Well the food is decent and huge portion. The flavor of poke is on point. Skip the nasty gravy chicken. The grilled chicken and pork ribs is good. But the lady behind the counter is very hard to talk to and then you have the sound of shave ice machine plus music and she gets frustrated taking your order. Lucky the lady has a job. Seriously she needs a vacation. Wait she lives in Oahu, what the heck? I guess when you live in an island isolated from the rest of the country, you can become crazy. Seating is hard to get. Shave ice is cash only even though the food stand allows credit card. Looks like bunch of owners being selfish and not wanting to make the place great. The fact that this place receives such high rating is beyond me.

Kelly F.

Yelp
A great option if you're looking for certain Rainbow's (& other local spots') dishes without waiting in the long line next door! For some reason I felt like trying the teri meatballs, and it was a great deal for only $9. The plate came with 12 meatballs, 2 scoops rice, and steamed veggies! Although the meatballs didn't have any over-the-top flavor, it was still a substantial meal for an affordable price

Stephen P.

Yelp
The "small" shaved ice. Cream add on top. Pina colada. Vanilla Ice cream under. Excellent

Diane P.

Yelp
Tried it when it first opened- was ok. But today I thought it was exceptional. Chicken was moist, poke was fresh, waffle dog was crunchy. Good size portions- tried the Mix. plate- chicken, entree from Rainbow, poke. Winner. Plus they have Shimazu massive shave ice. Come here and you not be disappointed.

Anita C.

Yelp
(Review 13 of 2020) 11/07/2020 - I've never actually been here. This is the first time I tried this place thru Uber Eats. I'm so glad that UE has this place! I know the menu on UE is limited compared to what's actually available in person. The prices might also be a bit higher, but I don't care! It's totally worth it if it is! I was jonzin for some Teri meatballs & bbq beef. This is the only place near enough to deliver. I couldn't help getting the KC waffle dog since I wasn't able to get it at the Made in Hawaii festival this year. The Teri meatballs are sweet & savory and I would get it again no probs! It was so good that I ate all the rice/meatballs/mac salad except for 3 meatballs. The Mac salad was a bit salty. Even tho I was stuffed, I tried a lil bit of the BBQ beef. Oh that was so tender & the right amount of sweet/salty. I'll have that for breakfast or lunch tomorrow. Yeah, I couldn't bring myself to eatin the KC waffle dog.... yet. Hehehe. I'll have it as a late nite snack. If you don't wanna or can't drive here, you gotta use Uber Eats! I'm so glad I did! A Hui Hou!!

Lily D.

Yelp
I only come here for one thing only and it's the kc waffle dog. Honestly I only come here once every few years. Lol. I'm just glad it's available for purchase still. HFK is located right next to rainbows. There's actually a small partway in the parking lot you can cut through. Just be warned they close at 7p daily. They have a variety of other items too - some from rainbows, shimazu shave ice, poke, and some other stuff. But today, waffle dog it was with a small milkshake! It still comes with the relish sauce but the taste isn't really the same. It wasn't as crispy but maybe because it got cold. The service was pretty mediocre. The lady in the front looked kinda grouchy, but hey be grateful you have a job that's paying you! There's people out there working for free right now.

Marissa K.

Yelp
This is like your one stop shop for local foods plus shave ice! They have sold menu items from Rainbow Drive inn, Ahi Assassins pop up, Shimazu shave ice and Lin's snacks! Great spot to come to grab local food take out and get a shave ice for dessert!

Terry T.

Yelp
Love the salmon tofu salad, chicken plate was just ordinary. Would try to visit again.

Mae F.

Yelp
Conveniently located next door to Rainbow Drive In, this is a collection of small eateries that includes our favorite shave ice place, Shimazu Shave Ice. We were recently in the neighborhood running errands, so we decided to take a break and get a nice cold treat. The shave ice here is huge. My son and I chose the small size, and we could barely finish it. I think the next time, we will go for the keiki size, which is still quite large. The parking lot here is very small and I usually have difficulty maneuvering out of the lot, but because of Covid, the parking lot was empty when we arrived. We each opted for 3 flavors each; I got the li hing mango, sour lemonade, and melon flavors, and my son had the blue raspberry, sour lemonade, and strawberry flavors. They have so many different flavors that it is really hard to make a choice, but it's pretty hard to make a bad choice here. We took the shave ice out and ate them in our car. What a refreshing icy treat on a hot summer day! I'm already looking forward to my next visit here.

Sean A.

Yelp
I realized we went during the pandemic, but it was pretty terrible. I got a shave ice lilikoi with ice cream. The size was huge despite ordering a small. The thing was 8 inches tall and the lilikoi syrup was poured with a generous hand. The store is next to Rainbow Drive-in. It is easy to see why crowds would flock..I guess this is some sort of quick version of a Rainbow, crack seed and shave ice and poke shop. At lunch time it was empty on a Sunday. The small lilikoi with ice cream was huge, but it tasted like chemicals. I ate 6 bites, dug for ice cream, and spent the rest of the time praying the taste in my mouth would dissipate. It was terrible for taste. Go to Uncle Clay's. It was just meh. No, it was worse than meh. It was not good.

Joann R.

Yelp
Located on the side of Rainbow Drive-In, this is a great place to go if you don't want the long lines at the Drive-In, or just want a small bite. They offer bowls and plates of their most popular items as well as Mike's huli huli chicken, KC Drive In waffle hotdogs, and fresh poke bowls. Wish they had a slightly larger selection, especially since they literally get the items from the Drive-In. And of course, the plus is the yummy shave ice from Shimazu!

Braddah K.

Yelp
Poke bowls good, salmon tofu salad sucksWho replaces lettuce with cabbage? Sad! I also ordered a pastrami sandwich and the meat came separate from the sandwich w/o my request. Lettuce and tomato placed between the bread slices. If you did that to prevent the bread getting soggy then everything should have been separated period! Well, at least I know what NOT to buy next time.

Amy M.

Yelp
My two local hawaiian favorites are Shimazu shaved ice and mikes huli chicken. Unfortunately, I don't eat poke..... I know.... I know...that's terrible especially living here in Hawaii. Lol excited that The establishment is relatively clean with good amount of tables and chairs. The con is that they don't have a bathroom, so you need to leave and share the facilities with rainbow drive in. I ordered a 1/4 salt and pepper mikes huli chicken, with a side of steamed veggies instead of rice. My food was ready the minute I paid. Lol talk about quick service. The skin was browned nicely, and had a great crisp with each bite. It was incredibly tender and moist, as I was expecting dried hard chicken since it looked this good lol. There was an abundance of carrots, broccoli, and snow peas to make sure I had my fiber intake for the day:) This meal was great for the carb conscious folks. Will be ordering rainbow drive in next time!!! I'll also have to try waffle dog:) Support local!!!

Nadine C.

Yelp
Waffle Dog... What is it? It's a hot dog surrounded with a waffled layer instead of a bun. KC Drive In used to serve Waffle Dogs, but KC Drive In is no longer in business. Thank goodness that Hawaii's Favorite Kitchens is here! Customers may partake in foods from 6 different restaurants - all in one place! Current Participants are: Shimazu Shave Ice Poke Stop Mike's Huli Chicken Bubbie's Mochi Ice Cream KC Drive In Rainbow Drive In So far, I've just had the Waffle Dog and shave ice. I'll be back for the poke, chicken, plate lunch, and mochi ice cream soon... Parking: there are only 8 spaces in the front and free street parking Note: shave ice includes Durian flavor which is subject to "House Rules"... consume outside - because of the fragrance. I know this because I had it... and when I accidentally burped, the passengers in my car rolled down the windows... sorry!!!

Teri Y.

Yelp
Hawaii's Favorite Kitchens, located in Kaimuki, brings together a handful of favorite local eateries all in a convenient town location. They've got Shimazu Shave Ice, Poke Stop and Mike's Huli Chicken plus an old favorite, Waffle Dogs a la KC Drive In. But wait, there's more! Did you know that you can get some of the Rainbow Drive In favorite plates there, too? Rainbows is right around the corner from HFK, but it's really convenient if you're dining with a few people who all want to eat different foods, or if you want to order a waffle dog, a shave ice, some poke and a boneless chicken plate. It's like being able to get food from Liliha, Waipahu, Kaneohe & Kaimuki all on one place!! It's also really good for the indecisive lone diner...you get quite a variety, like a little mini food court. You also run the risk of ordering way too much food, but that's a good thing, right? Another bonus about ordering your Rainbows, or any other food from HFK? The line is probably shorter, and there's a nice clean little dining area with a/c...and no birds!! Parking is pretty convenient at HFK, even if there are only about 10 stalls. I've never been there when the lot was full.

Jo C.

Yelp
Finally had a chance to remove the Bookmark for this place! Located right nextdoor to Rainbows Drive Inn on Kapahulu. There is a private lot which will fit approx 9 cars and street parking is available, if you can't find any parking might need to go around the block and try again. No Worries though people are constantly in and out so you wont wait long for a space. If you gotta use the restroom simply walk next door to Rainbows for the restroom key. WOW! You can really get a LOT of Hawaii's favorites in 1 Location! This place is aptly named, because it is truly a combination of some of the best local favorites! Today I had the Smoked Salmon Tofu Salad for $6.85 which was absolutely perfect to have on this muggy day in Hawaii Nei. My picture didn't do it justice at all. The bottom of the plate there's a generous portion of soft Tofu covered in Fresh Watercress that's locally grown from Sumida Farms (yes the watercress farm in front of Pearlridge mall) On top of that, white onions, carrots, garlic chips, fresh tomatoes and Smoked salmon. This comes with a sesame Soy Vinaigrette. I poured the sauce of the top and went to work! It was so much food I actually couldn't finish it all. I was previously thinking of getting a waffle dog too, but that was quickly dismissed. I'll have that the next time. You will find something for everyone here because they've got a large selection of Fresh poke, Huli Huli Chicken, KC Waffle dogs, Rainbows Plate lunches, Bubbies Mochi Ice Cream and Shimazu Shaved Ice in the same shop. Everything looked delicious! I would highly recommend this place to people visiting from the mainland and locals too since KC Waffle/Bubbies closed its doors you can get it here! This place truly is remarkable because each of the above mentioned places are good enough to hold their own and have a store just for themselves and be successful, BUT to have them all in 1 location is genius. The Smoked Salmon Tofu Salad was Phenomenal! Excellent combination of flavors, fresh and I can't believe they are only charging $6.85 an excellent value. I'm looking forward to my next visit, But I might get that salad again because Damm it was that Good! Highly Recommended place to eat, close to Waikiki but NOT in the heart of Waikiki. YUMMY!

Lei P.

Yelp
Such a great place to satisfy any craving! They have fantastic and massive shave ice, fresh right off the boat poke, local island treats, smaller and healthier portions from Rainbows and more. This is a true hidden gem and a great place to stop if you are hungry, in the mood for some good local foods.

kristi s.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Service was great but don't think they understood my request. Ordered the boneless chicken with "gravy." I requested "gravy All over or at least on the rice." Should have just said gravy all over. AND I got charged extra for the gravy on my rice only...fail If they charge for gravy all over, go for it because I don't think they put enough to begin with at least from the last few times I ate there.

Kristi Y.

Yelp
I never knew about this place until today. The person at the register was super nice. He let us sample some garlic poke and my mom and sister loved it. I got the Hawaiian garlic shrimp plate. It was pretty mediocre. The rice was "grainy" and the shrimp was just okay. I personally wouldn't get it again, especially since it was pretty expensive.

Tamara I.

Yelp
Forgot to take picture before devouring the Smoked Salmon Tofu Salad, but you can trust me...it was delicious. I'd pay much more than the $7 that is charged for it.

Toan D.

Yelp
Good local food with fresh ingredients at very reasonable prices. I used to go to Zippy's for local food but they've gotten so expensive now and oh boy Hawaii's Favorite Kitchen is heaven sent. The savory menu is mainly huli chicken that they cook fresh daily on a huge metal rotisserie in the Rainbow Drive Inn parking lot and a variety of fresh poke that they make there daily. But they also have sushi bowls, the daily specials and of course the famous Waffle Dog. They also have an extensive variety of Shave Ice to cool you down on those hot Hawaiian days. Often on my way home from work I'll pop in and grab a full huli chicken with brown rice and steamed vegis for $12. Hard to beat that price especially when you don't have to cook. Today we had the Waffle Dog. ($3.95). Exactly as it sounds, a hot dog sealed inside waffle batter and the Curry Chicken with brown rice and steamed vegis ($6.95). The Waffle Dog was good and unique but nothing to write home about. The Curry Chicken was da bomb!! I get that all the time. Very clean place with great a/c that instantly puts you in a good mood when you step in the door. Lots of parking up front. Happy Eating !!

Yelp
Go to Shimazu's Shave Ice in here!!! Portions are HUGE -- the small is more than enough -- and they have so many unique flavors. I got a small with matcha milk tea, key lime pie, and peaches and cream, with condensed milk on top. It was perfect.

Yelp
A whole in one. Ok dumb title but it fits sorta. It was lunch time and we decided to come here after seeing a couple of pics. See yelp does help. Parking is tight as there was only about 10 stalls but we also discovered rainbow drive in parking lot next door is separated by a 2 ft wall. I'm not saying go to rainbow to visit here or vice versa, I'm just saying they are next to each other. Sorta like when you visit Poke Way and Walmart. You read that review I know. Well we didn't know it was four kitchens under one roof plus a next door neighbor. We all through the name was a misprint. Lesson learned don't just a restaurant by it name alone. The restaurant is a combination of Mike's Huli Chicken, KC waffle dog, Poke Stop, Shimazu Shave Ice, and Rainbow Drive Inn. Inside it's small, about 10 tables and 20 chairs so I think people go next door for the benches when this place fills up. But the place is super clean. Nice clean tables and chairs and from what I could see a kitchen that even Gordon Ramsey might praise. I didn't know what to get so I picked the HFK combo and had Wendy (the cashier) choose my meal. I just wanted white rice. Yep she picked everything, Mike's huli, BBQ pork, garlic poke, and mac salad. Chicken was nice and juicy unlike the original in Kaneohe. Read that review right? The BBQ pork nicely charred. Way smaller portion then I like but the chicken portion offset the pork's size. Poke was good and decent portion. The mac I didn't care for. Some salt would have help immensely. Overall four stars. Parking can be tight. That's really the only hit I have aside from the place being average looking. Come and visit to see the place yourself. You won't be disappointed, unless you get the pork. Now excuse me, I'm getting a Larry. Come here and find out what that is. M

Yelp

Yelp
Looking for something to eat? May I suggest this place called - "Hawaii's Favorite Kitchen". Where is this place located? Well, if you know where the FAMOUS "Rainbow Drive In" is (in the Kapahulu neighborhood), Hawaii's Favorite Kitchen is just next door. They sell an array of grindz at Hawaii's Favorite Kitchens, as they sell the following grindz from the various vendors - 1. KC WaffleDog 2. Shimazu Shave Ice 3. Mike's Huli Chicken 4. Poke Stop 5. Rainbow Drive-In. 6. Bubbies Mochi Ice Cream So you can see, they have a little something for everyone! So far, I've been here 3 times..........once I came for Shave Ice at Shimazu's (see my review under - Shimazu), and twice I came here to Mike's Huli Chicken (will write a review about the Kapahulu location shortly). There is parking available in front of the store, but parking is limited............I wanna say there were about 8 to 10 spaces or so. If you come at the right time (off hours), parking shouldn't be an issue. If not in the private parking lot, there is available street parking, but you gotta roll da dice on that.

Yelp
The food here is good. The location itself is compiled of 5 different kitchens of Hawaii. It doesn't have the full menu of the five, just select items. I ordered a poke bowl and the fish was fresh and delicious. Hubby ordered the chicken and rib bbq plate and it was plentiful and delicious. The ribs and chicken were cooked perfectly and the ribs were so tender. I love the Shave Ice here. They are huge and they have many flavors to pick from. Their ice is very finely shaved so it's really good. This is my favorite on Oahu. There only downside is there's no indoor or outdoor seating. The indoor is closed probably due to covid, and they wouldn't let me bring a chair outside to eat our meal. We have to find an place to eat and then walk back to get the shave ice. Not cool. Please at least place a bench outside. (It is next door to Rainbow diner but all their seats were taken and blocked off). Overall, definitely worth a trip here, though.

Yelp
When I need a fix of my KC waffle dog, this is the place I go to. But it's more than KC waffle dogs, they have rainbows chili, Poke, poke bowls, Mike's chicken and Shimizu shave ice. All in one place! You can find all your favorite grinds in one place. It's a little restaurant/kitchen type setting with a few tables for dine in, nothing fancy, but got AC! They are located next to rainbows, the parking stalls are a little tight and can get crowded during lunch rush.

Yelp
Love this small little spot. They had a variety of food. Had to mix bbq plate. The chicken was super tender and the skin was crunchy. The poke was fresh and delicious. Love the lady behind the counter. She was super nice and friendly. Can't wait to come back to try their other items.

Yelp
You can't go wrong coming to Hawaii's Favorite Kitchens. It's located off of Kapahulu and is adjacent to Rainbow Drive-In. It's made up of KC Waffle Dog, Shimazu Shave Ice, Poke Stop, Mike's Huli Chicken, and Rainbow Drive-In. They have something for everyone. We ordered Boneless Chicken and Gravy Plate, BBQ Beef Plate, Baked Garlic Shrimp Plate, and a Choice of 2 Poke Bowl. The boneless chicken and BBQ beef were ok. The garlic shrimp was very good. The shrimp was fresh and the sauce was yummy. For the poke, we got the Creamy Spicy Ahi and Limu Ahi Poke, with a side of Sweet Onion Ahi. The Creamy Spicy flavor tasted the best. The fish was firm, fresh, and smooth. We couldn't leave without getting a shave ice. We got the large with three flavors, with mochi balls and condensed milk. The lychee, pineapple, and lilikoi syrups were splendid. The thing was huge. It was bigger than my son's head. That one shave ice fed the five of us. We got water cups with spoons and just scooped our own cups. The parking in front of the store is tight. They have about 8 spaces. We got lucky. Someone pulled out as we arrived, so we didn't need to look for parking.

Yelp
Wanted to try Rainbow since I kept seeing the commercials on the flight here. The parking lot was full but luckily this place is connected to it. Try the rotisserie chicken it's really good with the sauce they give.
