Clean, spacious rooms with very handy self-catering amenities. We were a little concerned given the photos online but this Guesthouse ended up being the pick of pretty much all the hotels we stayed in on our two week vacay in Ireland. It was right in Kenmare Village and Mary the host was personable and informative. Highly recommend this little guesthouse.

Mary was very helpful and accommodating to us. She also provided great recommendations for dinner and breakfast locations. The entire location was spotlessly clean, and the area was very quiet. We truly enjoyed our stay in Kenmare - thank you Mary!

Nice little place in Kenmare. Clean, simple rooms, conveniently located. Host Mary was kind. Reasonable price. Please note that no breakfast is provided, but you can walk to cafes in the village in 3-5 minutes. Parking in the back of the property.

The room was quiet and spacious, and the price was very reasonable. The bathroom is very well set up.|Kenmare is one of the less touristy places along the coast, which we liked. Plenty of dining and drinking choices.|Kenmare is ideally located for driving the Ring of Kerry.

A comfortable bed, a lovely shower, ample on site parking and convenient location makes this a great place to stay. What more could you ask for? We enjoyed our one night stay here and in the township of Kenmare where there are many restaurants and bars

Excellent location with village accessible by walking. We shared a small room with 2 single beds x 4 nights, it was a squeeze with little space. I am disappointed we were not allocated a bigger room as there are more options.. Daily housekeeping was good and everything appeared clean if dated. Downstairs lounge was tired, old and cold. Nobody used lounge. No heating provided in room, and we had to ask for heaters to be turned on for evenings & mornings. No breakfast - dining kitchen were closed.|Overall good location, could do with updating.

Sadly, the vivacious and well meaning proprietress cannot hide the faded glory of this establishment. The location is excellent. The building and facilities have a worn look and you feel much more like in a elder's boarding house rather than a well kept up |B &B (breakfast is no longer served)

My wife and I and our 2 granddaughters stayed at Hawthorn House for one night while seeing the Ring of Kerry and beautiful Kenmare. This is the 3rd or 4th time we have stayed in Mary's beautiful B&B. It's spotless, has free private parking, and a perfect location at a fair rate. Highly recommend! Mary is the nicest person!

Yelp
My stay at Hawthorn House was most enjoyable. The room was spacious and comfortable. The owner, Mary O'Brien, was a warm and personable hostess. We arrived in time for dinner and her recommendations took us to a place where we got a top notch meal followed by a short walk across the street to the pub she recommended to get a properly poured pint of Guinness (nothing like it) while locals in the pub celebrated a win at Celtic football by taking turns choosing someone in the crowd to sing and lead the room singing a tune accompanied by a small group of local musicians. Breakfast was made to order and served in a lovely dining room filled with tables made by her late husband. I would stay with Mary again, given a chance.
