Great instructors for my kid swimming lessons, its our first time here and staff are very pleasant. We have a friend her son has disability and staff was very accommodating as well 👏🏽Recreational swimming was awesome as well, not too crowded and plenty of life guards just incase👍🏽

Fantastic place to visit. Pool is clean and very well supervised. Swimming areas are sectioned off for experienced swimmers, diving board area, lap swimming, and recreational swim fun. Kids also have an extra pool dedicated to them where parents can supervise them. It’s very nice and very clean. A great way to get exercise while having fun. There is a large shaded area with benches and tables. The kids pool side has a nice grassy area where parents can set a lawn chair while they watch their kids swim. All around great fun!

Love their Summer water aerobics class. Attended the Saturday morning class, & the instructor played '70s funk. Really was a perfect way to start the day! The instructor, Adrian, made it fun & a really good work out! Only $5 cash drop in rate too. Looking forward to attending more. Parking was easy Saturday morning. I appreciate having this available until mid August. Such a great way to do some exercise🌞

Great value for swimming lessons. It's kind of a zoo to sign up, I wish they did sign-ups/registration online. But the pool is great, the staff is caring and patient. They don't throw the kids into the water in a traumatizing way, if you tell the staff not to throw your kid into the water. They let the kids take their time to jump into the water. I really appreciate that. UPDATE: they now allow registration online! Hallelujah!

This pool is great but lifeguard can be a little choosy, I came all summer and depending on the life guard my kids were able to do certain things bit confusing. they should all get together and agree on the same thing when it come to the “can and not”.. another thing whole summer I would only payed for my son and I.. today surprisingly I had to pay more for my 1 years old daughter I didn’t know why but it’s goes back to them agreeing to ONE thing.

Nice public city pool with decent facilities. My kids take swim classes here, gates need to be consistently opened/closed as often main entrance is only way in. Maintenance is current and the kids managing the summer programs are the best.

Highly recommend for adults who want to learn how to swim. I have taken adult swimming classes at different places, Ijust didn’t seem to get it, but Hawthorne pool has made a huge change! Coaches Adrian, Josh, ans Vicki are amazing! They teach everyone depending on where they are and help with individual improvements! It almost feels like a one on one lesson!

my daughter took the two week swimming class. The staff was very unprofessional. I had to request several times for them to watch my daughter as she was scared they left her all by herself and didn't even notice until I said something. They were giving my daughter dirty looks because she screamed because she was nervous. Kyle worked really well with my daughter and got her to go in the deep end. The supervisor African American didn't get her name she had blond braids was very nice had to call her a few times for help she was amazing. Some of the staff just was floating in the water not doing anything. I'm going to try El segundo next time.

Swimming lessons are wonderful, great instructor's, they also offer tiny tots and advance lessons, adult beginner classes and water aerobics.

Well here is my every other year update. It is now worse. In their brochure for this year there is for the first time I can remember no water aerobics classes in the morning, so imagine my shock when I get there at 730 am and someone is in the middle of a leading a loud euro techo aerobics class. It was so loud you could hear it as soon as you enter the parking lot. I waited till 8 thinking they were over as folks starts getting out of the pool, only for this person to start leading a second water aerobics class to start up with the loud techno. Madness. Since there are no water aerobics classes listed in the brochure I am only left to conclude they have allowed someone to start up their own private class... IN A PUBLIC POOL. Mind you this time is listed as lap swim 6-9. You can normally do your own thing during that time so I was not expecting a formal aerobics class blasting club music at 730 in the morning. I only tried this because the 12-1 is the same except its not formal but they allow this one woman to use THE FACILITY speaker to blast her own personal music during this time. It will never not shock me an alleged public space allows this. Not everyone wants to hear your personal music. At this point, I just wish the pool would have a dedicated quiet swim hour, since its a free for all with the personal music. I wish I was someone with confidence bc I would bring my own speaker and see how everyone likes that. Forced to listed to my personal choices. If you want a quiet swim time Im afraid there is no place left in Los Angeles County. Be rich and get your pool seems the only option left at this point because the public pools do not care to respect that its public and everyone has to submit to the one choice.

10 year old boys are not allowed in the girls bathroom but staff defends the moms who break this rule every day as classes are 5 days a week. My wife and I spoke to staff multiple times about this. The useless staff defends 9 & 10 year old boys in the girls restroom because they are to weak to stand up for what's right even though there are signs everywhere sayin 'NO BOYS OVER 5 YRS OLD IN THE WOMENS BATHROOM"

Pool is usually crystal clear and very clean but locker rooms are typical. Nice people work there and swim there. Wish Sundays were open until 1pm in the winter as in the summer.

Hawthorne Pool is a great public outdoor swimming pool with areas for babies / toddlers / children / kids as well as adults. We enrolled in the Swimming Class that is like a water acquaintance for toddlers, having done it for our child before he turned 1 last Summer and before he turned 2 this Summer, and the instructors / lifeguards who are supervising this class are mainly I think teenagers, who are ultra responsible, respectful, mature, and professional. I think the staff here are wonderful to interact with and I feel that they have a nurturing mentoring type attitude towards the kids, kind of like a big-sister / big-brother approach. The pool itself is nice, the water is chlorinated of course, for sanitary health purposes. The temperature of the water is good, a tad cold on cooler days, but I'm sure when the sun and heat of Summer is scorching it warms up fast. There's a shower area to rinse down before going into the pool and showing and cleaning after class, for both men and women (separate of course!). The parking lot fills up fast, incredibly fast, but there's lots of spaces, still walking distance, down towards the school. Overall, this venue offers swimming to all at an affordable price. The neighborhood is on the outskirts of the South Bay Beach Cities, so has a tad bit of inner-city urban aesthetic and demographic make-up, but everyone who has attended that we've encountered has been friendly.

$4 to get in. It's clean. Locker rooms are kinda gross but aren't they always? My stuff was safe on a table outside. Early morning on a Saturday was full of swimmers, around 11/noon there were a lot of divers training. Would love a salt water pool so I don't reek of chlorine when I get out, but what are you gonna do?

Why are there no lifeguards on deck or in chairs on a late Sunday morning? There were unsupervised little kids running on the concrete, dozens of kids in the pool, elderly and disabled persons in the water, and lap swimmers in every lane. Kids took a summer tiny tots class here. Absolutely loved it. The instructors truly made it fun and entertaining. 30 min course that goes by pretty fast. But for a 4 or 5 yr old its just enough time since thier attention span is short. The instructors test the kids on the first day to determine the level they will be in. Like floating unsupported front and back as well as basic skills such as freestyle swimming. Both of my girls don't have that. So they started at the bottem. oh my did this course help them big time. After two weeks they both float front and back and kind of do a freestyle which they still need to work on that. They will dive to retrieve things under water in 3 feet. Not deep diving and They aren't afraid of jumping into the pool with out assistance. They also tried to do a diving board jump with everyone in line and lots of lifeguards in the water to catch them. Sadly my girls were scared so they got dangled in. LOL it was a fun show for the parents to watch and give support. Very clean bathroom/showers and clean water. Lots and lots of life guard and instructors around. The class groups had about 7 kids max to 2 instructors. And a main life guard who paced the kids pool always watching for thier protection. Love this place. I wish we could do more. But my daughter has surgery in a few days and will have a cast for 2 months. Sadly this will prevent her from swimming anymore this summer. But will deff get back in it early next year and do it all. Enjoy and Stay Wild!

Amazing pool. Amazing coaches. Generally good people of very good character and integrity at this location which matters the most! The classes are all very good. The Masters group has very nice and genuine people to swim with. overall with decent lane etiquette. This is a group worth doing business with!

Parents beware: no kids aloud in the week. No info or signs to say this. Badly built website gives no useful information. Bizarre opening hours that not even the staff understand. When I complained I was given a phone number that no one answered. Where does my tax money go if this is a public pool but kids can't use it? Wasted half an hour driving there. Avoid!

Very unorganized schedule. Was my second time coming here for a lap swim, but there was a note on the door 'NO LAP SWIM TODAY'. This happened to me before, so I decided to call in first before driving 15 minutes to get to the place. No one picked up the phone. I guess next time when I call, and no one picks up, then the place is closed, even though it is during their operating hours. Unprofessional.

Great outdoor pool! I'm so grateful for this space where we can swim daily. It's both an excellent exercise for the body and a therapy for the mind and the emotions. The water is healing on many levels. It's a friendly place. I really enjoy it!

I take the Saturday Adult lessons here. It's like $50 for 8 classes, or 10? One of those. Well worth it, the teachers look like high school kids but theyre just chill 25+ year olds. I already knew how to float but i just couldnt move at all. They helped me with my technique and now i can actually swim laps lol. And that was after 2 classes They are all very nice and respectful. I'm a chubbers and have anxiety so their calm nature really helped. I do NOT recommend you take even the begginners course unless you know how to float. They will help with that but they kind of jump into technique right away. But you do go at your own pace, you can really do whatever you want with your time.

I was pretty excited about taking adult swimming lesson in 2016. The sign up is a breeze and you get about 9 weeks of lesson on Saturdays. The water is cold when you get it. My instructor was Donovan who is very nice and patient, in spite of his large class he has to teach. I do feel I've learned a little bit bit I wish it was 2 times a week

Decent parking. Popular on hot days. I went for a scuba class and it's a big pool that's heated and has good size shallow end and a drop off that's graded (so like a slope) that goes to 20ft I believe. I didn't actually check the depth but there are two diving boards and the deepest depth is pretty solid. Good pool all in all and family friendly

Wow! This is the most disorganized piece of nonsense I have ever seen. This pool hours are outdated by a year-and-a-half on their website. Their voicemail, as it turns out, has old hours as well!! They do not answer the phone even during their official working hours (!!). Their system takes messages and they do not EVER return calls, even if it's clear from your message that you only wish to find out their open hours. So--in desperation-- you finally call the city and find someone who has the hours on hand. Yay!! Success!! Based on this new information, you work your schedule around the limited hours and show up with money in hand and everyone in suits, ready to finally swim! However this pool is very special. The staff will not let your kids swim with the other kids (without a $100 fee, even if you don't know what that course is and your kids want to try it out first). They won't let your kids swim in the totally empty kids' pool (??). And they won't let your kids swim in the recreational area (the one the City of Hawthorne thinks is available to all) because it is currently inhabited by all of 6 PEOPLE-- a GIGANTIC area, mind you-- because-- well, I don't know-- just because!! Now this is after you have politely explained all the hurdles you have had to jump to even find out what was SUPPOSED to be current hours, including the information given to you by the city staff members (which at least occasionally pick up their phones!!). Your kids are dressed and ready to swim, you are ready to pay, and you are pleading-- but no, you are not permitted to swim with anybody already there swimming(!!). Adding insult to their stupidity. Not only is the staff inept and notably customer-unfriendly, but they have only excuses for all the ways that they are not capable of maintaining the most minimal standard of baseline communication with the public. If I could give them zero Stars, I would. This is tax money badly spent.

I did the mommy and me classes with my daughter and it's a cute pool to take your toddler you go in the water with them. The instructors were great but just bummed it is a 30 minute class.

Swimming classes for under 4: Got my daughter swimming classes and very unsatisfied with these instructors. They do much less than the bare minimum. They sing a song twice, tell parents what to do then chat it up with each other. My daughter hasn't learned anything new. They don't even go around to help parents out. The first day they walked by and said "good job" and my daughter wasn't even doing the activity! She wasn't doing anything. Today is session number three and I'm beyond annoyed.

This outdoor pool is awesome! A pool might not be the first place you think of going when you're looking to shape up and slim down--but perhaps it should be. No other workout burns calories, boosts metabolism, and firms every muscle in your body (without putting stress on your joints) better than a swim workout. There are 2 pools located inside the facility: lap/diving pool, and a kid's pool. The pools were renovated approximately 4 years ago and they still look new. The main pool itself is pretty big, 4 lanes dedicated to lap swimming and a "free swim" zone for kids and the water aerobics people. Both pools are heated to 80 degrees F. The pools are maintained with the utmost care and the staff is very helpful. The Hawthorne Pool is equipped with both men and women's locker rooms (old school but satisfactory), clean with no frills and heated showers. Great place to spend $4...your body will thank you.

A great "outdoor" swimming pool that offers an above average swim experience for swimmers of all swim/fitness levels. It's a very clean, easy to get to, reasonably priced (for lap swimming), well run and very well maintained pool. As an avid-swimmer, I have swam in a ton of pools and would have to rate this one an "A+ swim facility." Without out a doubt, it's one of the nicer (outdoor) swim facilities in the South Bay! To be honest my training partners and I are thinking twice about returning to my usual training pool, which seems really dirty (deck and water quality) and a bit poorly run in comparison. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. I noticed the lanes are a bit narrow when having to share a lane with another swimmer, but really wasn't a problem, cake... if you are sharing a lane with another experienced swimmer. For the most part the other swimmers (of all different levels) seemed pretty cool, although my training partner and I had a run in with this really rude women that insisted on sharing our lane to circle swim (which the lifeguard told me later isn't a common practice here). There were better people for her to ask since we are both aggressive swimmers and there was no way she would have been able to hang with us. (all she had to do was wait less then 5 minutes for us to finish our workout. Instead after she asked us and we said "no".. she jump into our lane anyway, after making my flip turn I slam-ed into her. Heated words started to fly. She wanted the lifeguard to call the police, that was pretty funny, hard not to laugh! I was told the next day by another lifeguards that she is no doubt the "pool trouble maker" there and always has issues with people and complains loudly. As long as you don't run into her you should enjoy an awesome swim experience and meet some cool like minded people!! They offer decent hours for lap swimming and it's a fair price! The Hawthorne pool is also home of a really great swim program, as well (SOBA Swim Team) Totally enjoyed swimming there! Thanks for having us!!! We will be back. I hate the fact this place is getting reviews on yelp. It means soon this place will be packed and I won't have most of the pool all to myself. This place is cleaner than others I've been to, and the workers are very friendly. Please stay away from this place so I can waddle and splash around like a fat penguin all by myself.

I've been swimming at this pool for years - the pools/facility were completely remodeled in 2007-2008, and re-opened in 2008. Love it! My 4 year old daughter just started swimming lessons there last week, and I'm impressed at what they get these young kids to do in such a short amount of time. The instructors are great, know the kids names, and the staff rotates to work with the kids in group, and also 1-1 on certain tasks. So far, I'm extremely happy with the lessons for little ones. Each 2 week session of classes (5 days a week for 2 weeks) is $40. Only three more sessions to go this summer (2015), July 6, July 20, Aug 3. I think there is still space available in some classes.

It's a really great place to go for a swim Alex is really friendly and responsible he always opens up on time he come in with a positive attitude and smile.

Large pool, tentative lifeguards, and it only cost $1 for children, $2 for adults. My only complaint is they only stay open from 1pm-3pm

Came to the pool to exercise with lap swimming and no one is here. The pool is not open even though these are the hours of operation. 3-5pm. No sign explaining why they are not open either. At least provide a message for why you are not open today.

Last year enrolled my 4 year old into the session and the teachers are great with the kids. They have so much patience and really care about teaching. I am signing him up again and again.

Great pool during non-summer seasons. Way too crowded, foggy water (probably due to sunscreen and kids urine) and challenging to get a lane for lap swimming during the summer months. Non-summer months are great!

Had such fun learning to dive here. The pool opened at 2 pm for the scuba class and we got in and jumped right into the water. Really big clean pool. Hawthorne pool is great, old school family fun! Costs a dollar or two. Don't be too good to take the kids out and hop on in the pool!

The pool here is spacious and pretty clean. I got certified to be a scuba diver. As an open water, advanced open water, rescue diver , and dive master I had all my dive trainings here and enjoyed my experiences here. If you're looking to swim in clean water and showers that are warm then I recommend this pool.

Buyer beware, especially if you expect your child (under age 7) to gain basic swimming skills (for pool parties, etc.) so that he/she can keep his/her head above the water without the use of flotation devices. As a parent observing my child in "swim lessons", the Tiny Tots class is not SWIM lessons, but more of a hybrid between the Parent-and-Me class (minus the parent) and a glorified bath-time, both of which can be done at home for free. My kids only take swim lessons when they're ready to learn how to swim independently from any flotation devices. Unfortunately, I have felt deceived by the advertising of "swim lessons" for the Tiny Tots class, because kids are actually not taught how to swim independently of flotation devices in that class. I'm concerned that my child will not learn how to swim this summer at the Hawthorne pool, and money has been wasted. One of our older kids was quickly taught at a young age how to swim at the local Y, where the staff actually teaches little kids how to swim..

I took 2 toddlers (4 and 5) for swim class and the teachers are amazing. Within 4 days, my four-yr old can swim underwater and do hand strokes. My 5-yr old can hold his breath to get the thing that sinks. (This part he likes the most lol) It's a 2-week lesson but I'll definitely extend it for 2 weeks more just because they're looking forward to it everyday.

Been here a couple times for SCUBA practice. Heated, but not hot. Nice pool for practicing, never crowded (except with SCUBA divers).

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!! I can not recommend it highly enough. My kids took swimming lessons for six weeks and I ended up taking water aerobics classes for two weeks (would go longer, but the lessons/classes stop 10/4/13) The instructors are young, personable and know what they are doing. They have great customer service the facilities and the pool are clean. There is also free parking in a pretty large lot onsite. Last, but not least, the cost of the services they offer are ridiculously low. I kept thinking they were quoting me the wrong prices! I agree with Sergio T - I don't want others finding out about this place, but I have to let everyone know what an amazing place this is!

The workers are very very pleasant and nice to deal with. Well trained and they speak Spanish. Go early... The earlier the better. Thanks floor everything.

I enrolled my boys in the advanced beginner and intermediate summer lessons for children. At first I thought it was A good program, it gets them a lot of time in the water and it's a very good price. However day after day I'm watching my son do the strokes incorrectly and the instructors say nothing! They just stand on the deck talking to each other. They don't even have them do drills which is essential to building a good stroke! Very frustrated.

My wife and I are both lifeguards and WSI. Our daughter (5yo) wouldn't put her face in the water and didn't want lessons. We tried everything. We then signed her up for summer lessons as our last hail mary. Day 2 of lessons she was putting her face in the water and kicking. Bam! I love them.

A year round heated outdoor pool near LAX and El Segundo. Clean, not crowded lap pool (except for the 2 months in the summer) What else can a swimmer ask for. Its not luxerious but being able to swim on the way to and from airport or if you work nearby is a luxery by itself.

My children take swimming lessons at this pool. $48.00 for a two week sessions. The staff is friendly and work well with the children. My children also enjoyed the dollar swim from 1 to 2. The bathrooms are also tidy. Parking was horrible this summer due to the remodel of a high school.

I like to swim here but not when it is windy. The win blows right over Hawthorne High and chills me to the bone...a warm day with no wind = a great swim.
