Hayden Block Smoke & Whiskey

The "burnt ends" was a symphony of flavors, perfect with corn bread. The beef ribs are perfectly cooked and so tender and flavored. Last but not least, our waiteress was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing our dining experience. She recommended several dishes are all so good and we leave without any leftovers. The dishes were beautifully presented and delicious!

Been coming here over the years since they’ve opened and it’s still our favourite bbq place in Calgary. We ordered their brisket sandwich this time. Food: Hayden Block is so consistent in the quality and taste of their smoked meats, the brisket is our favourite. Perfectly tender, juicy, flavourful, and a generous amount to balance the bun. Their selection of house made bbq sauces is impressive and appreciated, espresso is my personal favourite. Their sides are also fantastic, especially the beans and Mac and cheese. Service: attentive, prompt and casual. Atmosphere: long communal tables and friendly vibes makes sharing a table less awkward when need be. Fun and casual. Overall: fantastic bbq, tasty and very satisfying every time. Excellent value!

Wonderful BBQ place! My wife and I dropped by there yesterday dinner and the whole experience was great! The bacon wrapped corn on the cob and brisket was a great combination. My wife ordered a very tasty whisky cocktail and I tried several different fruity ales from their other location. All amazing drinks. Not to mention the service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was rustic, fun and had a great soundtrack. If you’re in the mood for BBQ, you can’t go wrong with Hayden Block

First time here, ordered way too much food. Their portion sizes are quite enough for 2. Server was very nice and welcoming. The ambience was quite nice. It is definitely on the expensive side. We ordered brisket, short rib (should be called a large), 1/2 chicken, burnt ends, pulled chicken sandwich, and 6 sides. All the sides were amazing!! Brisket was a bit dry but it works with the available sauces. There are 3 different types of sauces? One of which is kind of a creole/cajun mix, second is a vinegar base and lastly what tastes like tamarind/whiskey which was quite nice. Rib falls off bone and melts in your mouth, this is definitely the best. Chicken was as good as chicken can be. It wont blow you away, was juicy and seasonings went in. Did I mention the amazing sides? And corn bread with honey butter?

Overall, on the fence about this one. Better options in the area. Food is just ok. I asked the table their thoughts and they generally echoed my thoughts. The brisket was somewhat dry, and definitely requires plenty of their sauce. Sauce flavours were mediocre with nothing jumping out as spectacular. Portions compared to pricing was a bit steep, this includes drinks as well as food. Also, be sure to ask for ‘white bread’ with your brisket as it’s listed as ‘free’ but doesn’t come with your meal unless you ask. However, there are plenty of drink options available. Service was friendly and talkative. Pricing was steep all around for the end product. Drinks took a while to be delivered and the brisket took even longer. Location was not busy at this time. Atmosphere on the other hand is nice. It’s clean, warm, cozy and inviting. The bar is impressive. Depending on your seating/table your seat may be bolted to the floor. Overall, knowing what I do now I would likely pass on this location and opt for somewhere better priced or offering better dishes.

Got seated quickly even though they were quite busy! Very cute western feel, they had a live band when we visited too which was also pretty cool! Waitress was very nice and reccomended the whiskey espresso martini, was delicious!! We ordered brisket, potato/macaroni salads and the corn bread it was all sooo yummy, we left stuffed!!🤣You definetly have to check this place out if visiting Calgary, will come again!!

Hayden Block Smoke & Whiskey had an amazing atmosphere and the service from their team was hard to fault. The brisket and pork belly that we ordered was the best my husband and I have ever had. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Popped in for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Caesars were discounted and brunch options were delicious. We shared breakfast tacos and the eggs and smoked meat plate. We returned later in the evening for old fashioneds.
