Healy’s is not just a bar or Tavern! It is me and my girlfriends absolute favorite! The service is great and food is nice and prices are great! It is absolutely what you could ask from your cozy neighborhood bar!

Google
Coldest beer in Jersey City! Hands down my favorite bar downtown. Come here every Sunday after our softball games and the entire staff is always so nice and accommodating. $4 coors lite drafts all day everyday. The food is great too. Vicki is the best bartender in the biz. Can’t recommend this place enough. Though I gotta be careful, don’t want it to get too crowded!

Caitlin F

Google
My friends and I come here almost every week! It’s our favorite local spot to go for a casual hang. It’s got cold drinks, great food, regular trivia, darts, outside seating, Touch Tunes - what more could you need! ps - Vicky is the BEST!!

Alessandra Veliz

Google
Amazing bar with the lowest prices, cheapest place in Jersey City to get a beer. $4 for a 16oz draft?? Insane. You can’t find that price in other Grove St locations. I love the atmosphere. As a bar hopper, I feel like there’s a homey environment where you’ll meet a lot of locals. Their firefighter crowd can be pretty fun. I’d recommend this place for anyone looking for a bar that feels like home. And again, you can’t beat the prices. The fact that I can get the priciest cocktail on the menu for $12. Name another place you can say that about in Jersey City. Charles is awesome, ask for him at the bar

Google
Big fan since I moved to JC, it’s a must stop side bar whenever I have family/friends visiting. The food is good to order and comes out very hot, YUM! Thanks to Vic on the grill and all the fabulous bartenders who take care of everyone:) My favorite bar in Jersey City!

Google
Healy’s tavern is the best local bar in Jersey City! Vicky and Francis are the best bartenders! They are always so kind and make you feel like you are friends hanging out and part of the community. Prices are right, food is delicious and the people are incredible!

Yesterday I visited Healys Tavern for the 2nd time in the past few months. I had the pleasure of meeting the cook Victor who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we ordered and had a clean table. Must I add the food was unbelievably delicious. Can't wait to come back, enjoy the atmosphere and food!!!

Google
The bartenders Vickie and Francis are amazing! The Trivia guys bully me from time to time but it’s all good because Vicki puts them in their place!

Yelp
Rinny is the best (and Mike too when she isn't working). The Service, drinks, and food are great! Love the Irish pub ambiance. Always a great time in there. (Thanks for fixing the air-Hence the 5-Star Rating. Of course no air needed now).

Yelp
Had a few drinks prior to a concert at eagle hall , they have sports on different screens . Bartender wasn't really my favorite .. and I'm just going to leave it at that !!!

Yelp
Thank you Renne ! - Bartender Awesome experience coming to this place for the first time. Had some IPAs with a buddy of mine, got the pleasure to meet Renne the bartender she was awesome. We ended up going to the front patio it was a beautiful sunny day, the seating was nice, enough shade to enjoy an ice cold beer. Renne was very friendly came to check on us multiple times and made us feel very welcoming. I really enjoyed coming to this place will visit again and maybe eat this time. And of course I highly recommend this place !

Yelp
Healy's is a fantastic local watering hole up the block from the White Eagle Hall music venue with a small food menu and inexpensive cocktails and beer. Great location with a large bar and a handful of tables. Service is solid. Parking is Jersey City is difficult at best. Tow away zones and 2 hour limits are everywhere. If I could find legal parking I would have no hesitation about returning.

Yelp
Great local bar - as they say, cold beer, good food and great people. Definitely not just advertising, it lives up to the mantra whether it's a Tuesday afternoon or a Saturday night

Yelp
I performed a show on the drums at White Eagle Hall, December 29th. The dude bartender that was working that night is classic as fuck, great service and great sense of humor. Arguably a top 3 bartender in the Tri State. Absolute legend, I hope he joins my Fraternity "Tappa Tappa Keg" one day.

Dawn G.

Yelp
The food was so good that we didn't even get to finish it all because the portions were so big. The waiter was very nice and recommended a few meals which was greatly appreciated. The restaurant was very versatile and everyone seemed to be very happy. It went from families to friends to couples . The atmosphere was a joyful experience.

Yelp
Rinny, daytime bartender was a sweetheart. My first time here. I read about Healys on Yelp and Google reviews. I had a few daytime drinks and felt like I have been coming here for years. The internet jukebox is off the hook. Diverse customer base: Culturally, Racially, Sexual Preference, White Collar, Blue Collar, No Collar. Just be nice and respectful: No Politics, No Religion or Personal Bias debates allowed.

Yelp
I've gone to Healy's Tavern ever since they hosted my board game nights for my friends and I. However a recent experience really made me happy. As a disabled person, they're always helpful in making sure I find a seat. They go out of their way to accommodate me. One day I asked if I could convince them to save a seat for me, but when they couldn't find one, they were extra careful to bring me my food, to bring me my check, and their patrons helped me feel included by hanging out around me when I couldn't find a seat at the bar. Bartender Vicky was a big help that day. I love Healy's Tavern. They're my perfect first stop when I go to the Grove St area

Yelp
Local go-to spot to wind down. Many regulars here. Not many beers on tap, but they are always ICE cold. Best draft in town imo. Simple bar food. TVs with sports. Friendly staff/owner. For when you want to get away from the fancy schmancy spots in jc

Yelp
Good local bar Small but the bartending was welcoming Tonight's crowd was not my type of crowd but I didn't die either, so whatever

Yelp
Great food!!! The chicken fingers & fries are awesome!!! Cold beer and great bartenders. We always come here before a show at White Eagle Hall!!

Yelp
Healy's my home sweet home. How I love thee. Amber is the best and I'm pumped she is now a bartender at Healy's!

Yelp
great local dive, fair prices, and i love the set up of the bar. big round bar right in the middle. bathrooms are clean.

Yelp
I'm definitely a fan of this bar. Great neighborhood bar that is friendly, low-key, clean, and great prices. The bar itself is no frills, they have a couple of TVs for watching sports games. It's a circular bar so you sit all the way around. I've brought my dog here before and everyone is pet friendly. They have a small menu and usually something special off the menu. The bartenders are usually very attentive. Last time I went they bartender poured an extra drink and gave me an extra glass of wine. Their wine and beer selection is limited, but they have all your popular basics. I like that the music isn't to loud, and you can have a conversation with friends. They have some tables in corner area and I've seen groups of people there on the weekends. It would fit probably 1 large part of 6-8 people in the corner. The bar itself is pretty small too, probably fits around 50 people.
google avatar

Joely R.

Yelp
This is a dive bar the locals like to frequent. No frills kinda place but the food is phenomenal and the drinks are well priced. It's always a good time at healys !
google avatar

Audrey N.

Yelp
The beer is as cold as it gets. It is always nice to see a place cutting their own fries. If I lived nearby, this would be my go to spot. Can't say a bad thing about it.
google avatar

Alan M.

Yelp
Awesome little place with a great vibe. New owners are doing a great job of adding new to a classic place. A definite must stop in when in the area. Patty behind the bar is amazing!!!!
google avatar

C F.

Yelp
Worst cheese steak and fries I've ever had. Meat was bone dry, cheese was little to none, maybe partial cheddar slice and the fries were cold and soggy. 2 stars for cheap drinks, just wouldn't eat here.

Christina L.

Yelp
Blown away by what the new owners have done to the place. This is a hidden gem in the heart of Jersey city. Looking forward to seeing what else the new owners do to this place. Can't wait to come back!! Definitely get the disco fries.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here tonight for the first time for a bachelorette party and I immediately knew half of the bar that was there I took an Uber so it was easy I don't remember much about the barn or that I check it out but there was only one bartender and how he was able to serve that many people at one time was beyond me We all had such a nice time now and then we moved on. Definitely a neighborhood bar not something that I would frequent very often I don't spend that much time in that area it's definitely not Las Vegas or New York City but definitely a different kind of experience you will be treated nicely by the bar staff quickly greeted and served immediately everyone seem to be very nice that was there I did not use the bathroom facilities nor did I have to use parking I did not eat anything nor do I know if they even offered food service
google avatar

Andrea C.

Yelp
I'm so happy I got turned down on the other spot because I found this amazing place. Food is great , and service is great. Positive vibes only Thank you Terry for your great service
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a fan of this place. It's a dive bar, no doubt, but there is something wonderfully unpretentious about a dive bar in the midst of downtown Jersey City. The last time I was there, I was one of 4-5 people in the bar and was there to watch a basketball game with my buddy. Across the bar from us, two 40-somethings seemed to be having the time of their life: like a couple of teenagers, they were making out, feeling one another up, and generally feeling good. This place is also short on drink options. Don't count on cocktails or wine. I think I had Bud heavy in a bottle. I'll be back.

Skiandsurf G.

Yelp
This is my go to place. Non pretentious Good food. Locals/union workers go earlier. Later younger crowd. Good food. Nice easy going bar vibe.

Yelp
Came here unexpectedly while going to a concert nearby. Very chill and food was fine. Wasn't crazy about the selection of drafts on tap but otherwise a delightful experience. Tasty burgers and nice mix of old and new people, family of four sitting next to us with two kids kept high-fiving us while running around and saying hello to the older guys at the bar. This is a terrific old school bar, if you're in the area you'll be treated well and food is solid.
google avatar

Michcella T.

Yelp
I'm an old school kind of gal, and I enjoy a pub with a killer burger and fries. Can I just say that Healy's Tavern is one of THE best places to get all of the above, and then some. There's no fancy-pants signature cocktails here - just good people, good vibes, good food, and a jukebox to boot. I always make my posse travel here when we want reasonably priced drinks and yummy bar food. Occasionally, they'll have specials that the owners have cooked up - like corned beer, for example - but their regular bar menu is just fine too. Like I said, it's not fancy, but it's all greasy and all delicious. (The hand-cut fries are some of the best around!) If you're not in the mood for a burger, give the cheese steaks a try, and the pork bone-in ribs that are honestly melt-in-your mouth delicious. And for the record - for a pub in the heart of Jersey City, they have the cleanest freaking bathroom around!
google avatar

Frankie M.

Yelp
Healy's Tavern isn't just a great place for a beer and music. It is by far the BEST PLACE TO EAT A CHEESE STEAK SANDWICH!!!!!! The steak is a nice cut rib eye steak, cooked the way you like it, topped with a cheddar cheese peppers and onions. The steak is so tender and flavorful. For around 8 bucks u get the cheese steak and a side of fresh cut fries. I have been here several times and my go to place for a brew and a cheese steak.
google avatar

Siguy S.

Yelp
Still time after time the beer is cold and the food is fantastic.... what a better place to chill. For a a few cold ones ....
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
I had to wait for a friend who was suppose to meet me across the street for filopino bbq. NFL games were on and my beer was $3. It's the local's watering hole. Place is not bad. I can't comment on the food here. I agree with John M.
google avatar

Jeff D.

Yelp
It doesn't get much more local than Healy's. The bartenders are friendly, the beer is cold, the food is solid, and the jukebox has been known to pump out some great tunes. This is a beer and a shot type of place. No fancy wines or craft brew can be found here which is perfectly fine. This is the kind of bar where you come to unwind. It's not a bad place to start or end your night. So, next time you're looking for some inexpensive pub grub and need a rest from the sports bars, bougie taverns, and general craziness of Newark Ave, stop on in to Healy's for the Cheers experience.
google avatar

Mazda M.

Yelp
I decided to come here due to the good reviews. I went on a weekday and I had better, there were really no specials and I get a better deal at Bennigan's. The price is not cheap, more like between cheap and moderate. Food: normal eh, not crazy about the wings. Ambience: it has a cozy feel.
google avatar

Ron L.

Yelp
Bartender is great. Smiles and very attentive to patrons. Good chill vibes. Love that the bathroom is within steps from the bar. The staff always greets you and remembers you. Food is excellent. My favorite is the chili bowl.
google avatar

Michaela D.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of meeting Mayor Healy and his lovely wife last night after a very sad hour attending Officer Seals wake with a friend. The burgers are great and the jukebox is overworked. But the music is on point. And the famous Irish warmth is alive and well in this fine establishment. If they ever need a fill in, nice Irish jc girl bartender- I will be there in a minute.
google avatar

Melissa K.

Yelp
Small bar, but great food and awesome drink prices! If you want something cheap and low key this is the place! Bar tenders are friendly and the crowd is quiet.
google avatar

Angel C.

Yelp
Spend the night with the best friend birthday party here...healys is a regular down to earth bar no excitement just a "Cheers" type of atmosphere and for me and my ling time friends since grammer school thats just ok....drinks were ok yet the oranges for the blue moons were weak but hey no one is perfect but jesus....happy birthday bran!!!!!

Yelp
This place is dangerous to my liver for several reasons: 1. The bartenders/owners/etc are super friendly, and they genuinely make a point to remember you. 2. They don't have a ton of TVs, but the ones they do have are always tuned to the Yankees, Rangers, etc. During the NHL playoffs, they put on the sound for us. 3. The bar food is standard but it's cheap. They also have pork shanks on the menu! 4. They support firemen, cops, and TEACHERS (yes, I am aware it's owned by the mayor's family so this is par for the course, but you should support these people anyway!). Yesterday, they had specials all day and closed off part of the street for an "End of the School Year" party. 5. It is as "local JC" as it gets... the patrons are diverse but have a ton of JC pride and it's fantastic. 6. It is within stumbling distance of my apartment. My one and only gripe is with the very limited beer selection (Yuengling and Guinness are the "fanciest" beers on the list). However, one has to consider that many of the patrons are working class JC people who don't give a crap about craft beer and probably wouldn't drink it if it was there. Music is a little dated but certainly much more tolerable than the Top 40 shit they play at other bars.
google avatar

Davis J.

Yelp
Chi-Town has bars. Bahston has baahs. New York bars. Jersey City has bars too. ...but it seems if you are a JC Cop or Fireman, you have Healy's. Nice atmosphere (if you arent a hipster or college student). Adultish Blue-collar crowd. Classy music always playing. Good place to have a drink. Bad place to get drunk.
google avatar

Bloss C.

Yelp
I'm updating my review, Healy's is definitely worth checking out. Very friendly vibe on a Saturday night, and service was outstanding. Come here on Sunday's, they have the NFL package and you can see out of market games (GO LIONS). Good football crowd on Sunday's. On Weekends 11 PM and earlier is for a bit of an older crowd, but everyone is welcome and if you like to belt out Sinatra standards you'll be at home here. Great bar tenders and good prices on drinks.
google avatar

Brendan D.

Yelp
This is easily the worst bar in Jersey City. When me and my friends walked into the bar we were pushed and made fun of by the staff and stared at by the patrons. If you are not a 50+ Jersey City crony, do not go here! The beer selection is weak. The music was good. I will never go to this bar again. CAVEAT EMPTOR!
google avatar

Kenny L.

Yelp
The beer here is cold and cheap. The beer is exceptionally cold, I don't think I can think of a place that serves colder beer in JC. The fries are good (I have never eaten anything else here). Generally, this place is chill. This is a place you can drain a beer or five with a friend while kinda paying attention to the sports on the TV's. There are bars with better, liquor, food and cocktails in JC. But if you just want cold cheap beer and some awesome fries, this place can't be beat.
google avatar

Rance Z.

Yelp
First time in Jersey City, greeted and welcomed by the owner and a brother. Easily my favorite place for several reasons: Prices Quality for said prices Bar food selection Friendliness And this one is a little biased but super convenient to walk to for myself. If you are around Grove or Journal Square, it's definitely worth the several minute walk. If I am around Grove and I'm being charged an arm and a leg for regular draft beer- I always suggest just going here. Less crowded, better to talk. A bit blue collar.
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
Nice local neighborhood bar. Mostly an older crowd mixed with firemen. Which makes sense since the owners are firemen. The Healys are good people and make you feel welcomed when you walk in. Odd space inside. Central bar in the middle and seating all around it. Food is great. Standard american bar fare. Reasonably priced drinks and booze. Happy hour is even better. Recommend stopping by. It's real Jersey City. Have Fun
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
I came to Healy's on St. Patricks Day after hearing about their 'shortest' parade. The parade was indeed short and lively, we loved it! For the festivities they had extra taps and a grill going in the back and the ability to drink in the street. We waited about 20 minutes to grab 4 beers but what else would you expect on St. Pattys? We'll be going back to check out the place on a more regular night and try the food. Slainte!

M C.

Yelp
Great old man bar. No bs. The food is basic but the beer is cold. Can't go wrong here
google avatar

Marina S.

Yelp
Pros: Always a seat at the bar, very friendly service, neighborhood feeling Cons: Food is mostly bar food, it can be a bit bright inside One of the things that people need to realize is that Healy's is a neighborhood bar. If you're looking for fancy cocktails, a four star meal or a yuppie singles scene, this probably isn't the place for you. It's charm comes from it's simplicity - a huge bar where there is always a seat, an old school juke box, people buying rounds (yes, they ring the bell if you buy one for the house), and cheap beer (you can't beat $3 pints!). So, if you're looking for that, then yes, it's a 5 star bar. As for the service - always friendly. They are attentive and will actually make small talk with you in an effort to get to know their patrons. I'm new to downtown so I dont' have ties to all the political types in JC. This bar is close to my house so I started going because it was convenient. I've never once felt uncomfortable or out of place (I'm a woman in my late 20s). One yelper mentioned pushing and shoving - um, I've never even seen it that crowded to have to push your way through - so not sure what that's about. Also, I have to question some of the negative reviews. Yelpers are always so quick to give you a play by play about their negative experiences. Here it seems like the negative reviews come from something other than the actual experience. Just saying...

Jon H.

Yelp
Excellent bar with very friendly staff. Great food, highlights include the chili, burgers, buffalo chicken tenders, and chicken parm. Best of all, their tap beer is always ice cold. Would recommend to anyone in the Downtown Jersey City Area.
