Good spot to haul up after an easy day crossing over from Queenstown. Rooms perfectly clean, all fittings and furnishings functional. Plenty of ice available for one’s evening tipple. Great whiskey tumblers and wine glasses. And if you find yourself without a private stash, the bar is open all day for drinks. Staff quite pleasant and accommodating. A couple of items guests should be made fully aware of before booking: 1. There is no air conditioning and the radiant heating units are centrally controlled. All rooms are either on or off. Guests can twiddle a knob from low to high, but even at low, it still puts off some heat.
2. There are no screens on the tilt-open windows or sliding glass door. Mosquitoes will, and did, find their way in if you open up for ventilation.
3. There is a standing fan available in each room, so you can cobble together a form of cooling air, ventilation, and mosquito defense.
I suspect our arrival just as the weather was coming out of a cold snap and reaching into a bit of a warming spell made for a perfect storm of inconvenient climate conditions.
