This was a return visit to Stornoway, and to Heb Hostel. Lots of great points here!|- Communication with owner Christine prior to arrival was great. We really felt we could contact with any queries/assistance prior to arrival.|- On arrival (off the bus from Tarbert... after the ferry from Isle of Skye!), the member of staff who greeted us/checked us in was friendly, helpful, and tried his best to make us feel at home.|- Christine checked in with guests pretty much every evening during our stay. Phone numbers for her and the other warden (??one of her family??) were on the notice board - great to know that they're contactable and nearby!|- VERY comfy beds. We were in room 1 - 7 bed dorm. |- Most mornings we had dorm-mates getting up early to get the 7am ferry back to the mainland - we're not complaining, we knew this was a risk and were minimally disturbed by them.|- Location - the hostel is less than 5 minutes from the bus station, ferry terminal, and the centre of Stornoway.|- Breakfast - it's included in the price. There's cereal and bread (a loaf of white and a loaf of brown) available in the kitchen til 11am. |- Kitchen - it's small but well equipped. There's always milk and margarine in the fridge labelled "hostel", which is for communal use. Due to the size of the kitchen, you may need to liaise with other guests about cooking times... there's space for 5-6 people sat round the kitchen table and 1-2 people cooking/prepping food... but there's also eating space in the lounge and (weather permitting) in the garden.||We may have been in shared dorms in a hostel, but felt very at home at Heb Hostel and would recommend it to anyone looking to visit Isle of Lewis.
