Wow what a wonderful experience- this is a real historic hidden local gem. The restaurant itself has been here for hundreds of years (14th century) and has a beautiful interior but it’s the vine-covered courtyard that has the best seats in the house and where you’ll find all the locals. Fluent English spoken and wonderful friendly service. Excellent menu with all the local specialties. The mushroom spaetzel was excellent, but the Vienna schnitzel was the hero dish. Perfection on a plate. Highly recommend booking here (online) as it’s very popular.

We were on our Viking cruise and stopped in Passau. Didn’t want to go to the main street with so many other tourists. Found this restaurant on google map with high reviews. The moment we walked inside and we knew we would like it. Very beautiful with history and authentic feeling of Germany. So many fun decor pieces and we couldn’t take our eyes off them. Ordered schnitzel and came with veg/potato salad. The taste of potato was very different from North America with a subtle pleasant sour flavour. We absolutely loved it. The dumpling was a bit dense to my taste. There is a backyard for people sitting and eating outside. Imagine coming here with a group of friends and drinking beers 🍻 and having fun 🤩. Unfortunately we didn’t see the underground or basement sitting since it wasn’t open. we could imagine it could be beautiful too.

Great food and atmosphere!! We have visited Passau over the years and always come here. This year we ate there 3x within a week! The cream of Garlic soup is to die for! Very consistent and good quality and service

Just had a family birthday dinner of 8- Can’t say enough good things about all aspects of our dinner- food, service and atmosphere .between all participants the dishes were exceptional - Rehschnitzel, Schweineschnitzel and Schweinshaxe- amazing ! Thank you for a memorable evening!!!!

We had a wonderful Bavarian meal here. The schnitzel and traditional potato salad was excellent. The fish was done perfectly - fresh and light.

Fantastic traditional German food, perfectly prepared- from the appetizers to mains to desserts. Also a great atmosphere and friendly, attentive service.

We paid almoust 100€ for two schnitzel and three bier, and three little salat… also the personal was very very not friendly!!! i do not recomend!!! 100 procent they are other nice places in passau!
