We are from Montreal Canada, but have been here several times over the last twenty-five years. A very favorite establishment here in Mainz. The total experience is raving 10/10 every time. Consistency in everything seems to be the obvious secret, every outing, every meal has always been a very pleasurable and gastronomique experience!

Google
Great service and delicious food. The watermelon salad was the perfect starter as the schnitzel takes awhile to prepare but was well worth the wait. Staff spoke excellent English and humored by attempts at German

Google
A uniquely special environment, how could they have gotten everything right? If you look up you see beautiful architraves for days, and you are all in a canteen style seating plan yet you feel utterly and totally at one in your experience. I take my hat off to Asad who made the evening even better by offering us schnapps to cap our night. Should you have a moment in Mainz, make sure to spend it at Heiiggeist.

We had a wonderful time. The staff was busy but very attentive. Food was good. Enjoyable evening.

Google
Amazing location and great food and wine selection. The interior is nicely designed and the staffs are nice however rather slow. If you are not in a hurry then thats not a problem! Otherwise a great place to visit with friends or colleagues for dinner!

Google
Lovely place, amazing food and an excellent service. Asaad (our waiter) was paying attention to every single detail. As appetizers we got the “Dreierlei” and the “Rindertartar” which for us was a 10/10. As main dish we got the “Linguine Trüffel” and the “Osso Bucco” (I ordered “Semmelschnitte” as supplement instead of “Kartoffelpüree”) which also were super tasty. The portions are considerable. We had an amazing dinner. i totally recommend it.

Google
As a nurse I was really intrigued with the idea of having dinner in a hospital that was built in 1236. The building is beautiful and it was fun imagining the going on’s of a hospital in the 1300th century. The restaurant is also known for its Weimar schnitzel and it didn’t disappoint.

Google
The place is like no other, really nice. To find the restaurant is easy. The staff is friendly and most of them speak German and English. The food is good and drinks too. If you are planing to bring a big group of people here will be the perfect place, they have plenty of space and your guest will be impress about the building and food.

Yelp
The food was good in my time in Germany. One of the highlights of my trip. They have a good selection of beer as well. Good atmosphere.

Yelp
The ambiance definitely sets the tone, especially st Christmastime. The suggestions made by our server were spot on. The food was fantastic and service was outstanding. Definitely a great spot for our party if 8 to join and catch up over a great meal.

Yelp
What a great venue with a lot of history. The inside is open with very tall ceilings so it can get noisy when crowded. Our serve was great. He was very attentive, spoke good English and was prompt with service. The lighting and architecture is the decor, adding a couple cool looking bars. The menu is small and a bit pricey, but everything on the menu sounded good. The salmon was extremely flavorful and perfectly served with good presentation. The lamb was tender and 100% worthy of your taste buds! The Tuna Tartar was good... I guess I expected a little more flavor, but it was good. 10/10, 5 stars, highly recommend!!

Yelp
I highly recommend this place! We came to Mainz last minute for a few days, I found this place online and it was awesome. We loved the inside with the high ceilings and arches. The staff was super nice and quick. The food was cooked perfectly and we loved everything we had. We started with the homemade Focaccia, I wish they served it with oil but still good and the dough was perfect. I had the Rinderfilet that was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. My boyfriend had the Tomahawk vom Duroc-Schwein which was super tender. Definitely a must try but just sitting in the venue is super cool!

Yelp
This restaurant is situated in a converted church hospital and the venue is beautiful. The inside seating is in the main hall of the church and the outside seating feels like it's in a garden. The only drawback to the indoor is that the hall is so resonant that it can be hard to hear others at your table. I attended a reception here with a 3-course set menu. They started us out with cranberry bread and the opportunity to buy a drink. I had their weissbier on tap, Allgäuer Büble Edelweissbier. It was a little sweet but not really fruity (which is what I wanted) and had a nice foamy finish. For the appetizer: avocado with goat cheese in an olive oil-lemon vinaigrette. This was also topped with diced olives and some sort of green shoots that I didn't recognize. I liked the pairing of the briny olives and goat cheese with the creamy avocado and fresh, herby greens. Main course (vegetarian option): napkin dumplings. I'd never tried this dish and it was unreal, I loved the texture of the bread dumplings! They were perfect for soaking up the addictive buttery sauce without getting soggy. I didn't feel like the dish got too heavy since they used the perfect amount of sauce (although it was so good I could have eaten more) and kept things bright with the garnish of scallions and greens. They provided more plain bread when we were finished to soak up the rest of the sauce. Dessert was the "Brownie Dessert" of chocolate cake/brownie with walnut crumble and raspberry sorbet. The brownie was one of those that just melts in your mouth as you eat it. The sorbet had a really bright and natural flavour. Every course was delicious and the portion size was right in the window where I felt very satisfied but not overstuffed. The service was also seamless. The waiters were some of the friendliest I had while I was in Germany, the wait time between courses was appropriate, there wasn't a significant delay between the first and last tables to get their food brought to them, and they were diligent about replacing the water at the table when we ran out (unlimited still and sparkling were included in the dinner). If the regular experience is anything like what they did for us, I would definitely recommend them for a nice dinner and unique experience in Mainz!

Yelp
This is a very hip place with a upscale feel. Pizza is good pizza, won't win any prizes. The bar is really good. I'd like to try it again, next time I'm in town in a couple years. Great for groups. Make a reservation. The outside seating is delightful.

Yelp
Definitely a destination. The restaurant is in a converted church and it is beautiful. It has a charm about it and it is complemented by a wonderful staff who are professional and courteous. The food is fantastic and I highly recommend visiting. One word of warning... make a reservation!! I visited 3-4 times without a reservation before I was able to get a table. It was worth it but save yourself some time ;-)

Yelp
Lovely wait staff and restaurant. We enjoyed everything we ordered. If you are in Mainz check it out.

Yelp
While on a trip to Germany someone recommended this beautiful restaurant. We really loved it. Pumpkin soup, tagliatelle with filet tips, kasespatzle, salmon, and a couple bottles of interesting reislings. Everything was tasty and filling. The location is beautiful, the wait staff is friendly, young, informative, engaging, and humorous. Yanick and Lilly were so cute. And everyone was engaging. I was here with my brother and his wife, and my husband and sister. Always great conversation. (Especially after two bottles of wine.) We recommend highly. Cheers, Amy

Yelp
Fantastic ambiance! Such a neat place to visit. The beef tenderloin was perfectly seasoned and was a perfect medium rare. Highly recommend visiting this place if you are near.

Yelp
I've had the opportunity to travel all around the world and this is my favorite restaurant in the world. The staff is very friendly and eager to please. I ordered the warm quinoa salad, I wanted salmon on it because I noticed a nice salmon dinner. It was no problem adding salmon to my dish and it was the best meal I've ever had. The Chardonnay I had to go with it was delicious. I would go there every day if I could, and I will go every time I come back to Frankfurt!!!!

Yelp
Wonderful place for a semi-fancy meal (indoors) or even a more casual meal when the summer garden is open. We had an early dinner on a lovely late-summer afternoon, and found the summer garden to be charmingly well designed. Even though it's in the middle of Mainz, the summer garden is built with a lot of greenery and a wall of bamboo that helps shield you from feeling like you're in a city-center, especially if you get on of the tables tucked into the greenery! Service was typical for a slightly nicer restaurant, and all the servers we interacted with spoke better English than we do German. As far as the food, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The Classic Club Sandwich with fries was a nice big portion and was well built, and would work well for someone looking for something a bit lighter than normal German fare, but heftier than a salad. The salad with chicken breast (Blattsalat mit Hähnchenbrust) would be a great choice for a lighter meal; plenty of lettuce and enough chicken to make it a meal not a starter, but not heavily dressed or smothered in anything, so it still felt light. My wild boar bratwurst (Rheingauer Wildbratwurst) was fantastic; grilled to perfection and with a nice bit of gamey flavor to make it even better than a normal bratwurst. Toss in some mashed potatoes and a huge pile of caramelized onions, and you've got a great meal. Definitely above average, and a place we'd recommend to anyone looking for a slightly fancier meal in Mainz.

Yelp
Very nice. The atmosphere is classy, but not over the top. Is an old church and it sort of is...regal? The food is excellent. Loved the spargel soup and had a great schnitzel. Coming back soon for the steak-saw it on the table next to me and it looked perfect.

Yelp
Great meal close to my hotel. Weight staff were accommodating of my limited German. Great portions and reasonable prices.

Yelp
Went to Heiliggeist "Holy Spirit" in Mainz today for dinner with some friends. Sat outside because there's no AC inside the restaurant. Inside is an old church turned into a restaurant with vaulted ceilings and is really beautiful, we will have to go back once it gets cooler out. They make some deliciously cold drinks like their "Winzer Julep" (I had two!) pictured with the mint leaves. We ordered a flatbread as an appetizer to share and different meals like the grilled salmon, octopus salad, rumpsteak with mile high crispy onions and lemon chicken with couscous or quinoa (so good!). Overall the food was good and was not too heavy so I was really satisfied. Customer service was friendly but very very slow. Definitely go if you have plenty of free time on your hands and want something on the lighter side for dinner.

Yelp
I love this place :) it was a consistent date night spot for my boyfriend and I and I always loved it. The service was good, and the food is always wonderful. I do wish they were open later, we always seemed to be rushing and late because their kitchen closes at 9 pm. But they have always been very accommodating and nice about it. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
We've been here for dinner and a lunch. Dinner was very elegant and the cheese plate and lamb were delicious! Wine selection was good as are the mixed drinks. Staff spoke English and offered an English menu. The place was beautiful with high arched ceilings and beautiful decor. Lunch was more casual with most people eating outside. It was a warm day and after the Mainz winefest we opted for a cooler environment inside. We shared a currywurst and fabulous crunchy fries with drinks. The currywurst was good. Again staff spoke English very well and offered an English menu. The staff was kind and prompt. We would go again for dinner because we enjoy the dinner menu and great staff!

Yelp
I do not recommend this place at all . Restaurant and staff are unprofessional and rude. We waiting for our food for more than 2 hours till we finally had enough and asked the waitress for our check. We asked to talk to the manager and a waiter kept asking us "why" repeatedly. Then said the manager was busy . After this I told them that I didn't like the service they were providing to me and they said that I was being a racist . Again they were being unprofessional. Another group that came after us with a party of 10 was served before us( which we never got our meals ) but they were saying we were racist . Never will we ever come here again , will till everyone we know about this situation so they know that they do not welcome us . I'm still shook about the experience that I had to endure with the staff from Heiliggeist. The owners really need to teach some lessons to their employees about how they can help their businesses succeed and how to treat a paying customer. Stay away and don't be fooled.

Yelp
I really liked Heiliggeist for several reasons: the venue, both inside and outside, is lovely; the staff converse in English; the menu is diverse and delicious. The one con was that they weren't open until 6 pm for dinner so my dining companions and I had to walk farther for dinner on our first night in Mainz in the pouring rain and right past Heiliggeist. The next night we figured out we could seat ourselves, a common practice, and chose a table outside. I had to go for a classic German dish and ordered the bratwurst with potatoes, dijon mustard, and braised onions. It was delicious, and I had worked up an appetite after a day of sight seeing. Luckily, there was bread at the table before my entree arrived. I think everyone else liked their dinner, although one of my dining companions and to be honest, everyone else, was surprised to see a platter of meats, cheese, and vegetables placed in front of him alongside a basket of bread. Based on our limited understanding of German, we thought it was a sandwich. Instead, it was a deconstructed one. On my last night in Germany, I returned to dine inside. It turned out all the other diners had the same idea as no one sat outside. The inside is cavernous and the pictures don't do it justice. It's such a unique space with vaulted ceilings and dim lightning, but not so much that one cannot read the menu or navigate the space. Again, I think people can choose their own tables. We opted to share an order of roast beef with potatoes, BBQ chicken pizza, and wiener schnitzel. Everything was delicious and quite frankly, for two people, it was difficult to finish, but we powered through. Each of the nine pieces of flatbread pizza had a large piece of chicken. The wiener schnitzel was two large pieces that barely fit on a plate. It came with a small dish of cold potato salad which tempered the fried meat. I also really enjoyed dipping the meat in the ligonberry sauce. Everything really was delicious. Service is slow for my American taste, but I also like not feeling rushed or bothered during dinner. People did come by to ask how we were doing and to take things away as appropriate.

Yelp
I had the "pleasure" to dine at the Holy Ghost 2 times in 1 day. Once for lunch and once for dinner. Lunch for myself and a small group of colleagues and once with a larger group of collogues for dinner. For a restaurant with such high reviews I expected so much more. For lunch I had the wiener schnitzel and one of my colleagues had the pork chop, both were dry and tasteless. The pork chop came with spatzel but it was cold and I can't remember if anything came with my meal that's how forgettable it was. The carpaccio was actually very good as was the quinoa salad which we also got but the main courses were seriously disappointing. I would not have come back for dinner but we came as a large group and someone else organized it. We had flatbread for dinner aka pizza and some appetizers to start. I felt that the portions of appetizer were not enough for the large group. And as for flatbread, was sometimes ok but some times soggy. Come on it's pizza how do you mess that up. In summery if you go here you will almost certainly be disappointed.

Yelp
One of the best in Mainz, Heiliggeist is a beautiful restaurant in an old building resembling a church or am old hospital. The food variety is large and so far I liked everything I had. From the classic Wiener Schnitzel to their very own pizzas called Croustartes, this restaurant is the right choice to go if you are only for a short period in Mainz. Service has room for improvement and especially I prefer it outside in the summer because inside is very loud. Try it!

Yelp
Beautiful church that has been converted into a nice restaurant. The beautiful ceilings and interior of the restaurant made it a great setting. We went during fasching, so there were plenty of people dressed in costumes, but other than the "pirate couple" next to us, everyone surrounding us was dressed business casual. There isn't much privacy. The tables are pretty close together, so it felt like I was in an Oktoberfest tent with people behind directly behind us. With just a few inches to spare. Definitely a good place for groups of people, but not so much for a romantic date. It was really loud. The majority of my friends and I got the specialty pizza. I ordered "die secht" which is a veggie pizza, but my order was completely forgotten. I was definitely bummed out about that. The waiter apologized and claimed that they could cook it fast, but my husband and I ended up canceling that order. We decided to just share his pizza that had already arrived. He ordered "die acht." It had pepperoni/salami, red pepper, bacon and Gouda cheese. It was amazing. Probably one of the best pizzas I've had in Germany. It had a thicker crust and they were not stingy on the sauce. The waiter didn't seem happy that we cancelled the other pizza order, but it wasn't my fault that my initial order wasn't made. It's a shame that my pizza didn't come or I probably would have given this place 5 stars. The waitress spoke English and German. The menu wasn't in English, but Google Translate always helps. There is plenty or parking garages across the street. The kaiserschmarrm (German pancake with applesauce) was amazing and delicious!! It says it feeds two people, but honestly I think a whole family could spit split this dessert. We easily split this with 5 people. It was so good!

Yelp
Was here for a business dinner so had a prix fix menu so I can't rate value for your money. Menu: Beefsteak Tomatoes w/goat cheese on bed of Arugula drizzled w/olive oil, s/p, Salmon over Ristto and Aspargus, Lemon Chicken w/Couscous & veggies and Vegetarian option (unsure what it was). I had the Salmon but w/Couscous. Because I was famished portion was generous. Loved the salad, tomatoes were perfectly ripe and goat cheese creamy, tangy. There was 2 different brown breads and butter/herbed spread. We were offered 3 different beers, a white and a red wine. Desert was seasonal strawberries 3 ways: berries naked, Creme Brule and Sorbet. Interesting atmosphere; large space with high ceilings & understand it was a hospital. Downside was it was very warm inside most patrons were outside where it was cooler. Staff was attentive enough mostly b/c initially they were not busy but became less so as evening went on. Would try it again.

Yelp
Food is good. We liked how they transformed what appeared to be a church to a beer garden and the food selection and prices were reasonable . Sadly service was not exceptional and a bit slow in my view otherwise I would have given it 5 star rating. Overall a positive experience Uodated review: they forgot our drinks and looks like our order got lost somewhere... Really annoying

Ionel D.

Yelp
Very bad customer service, the food has a weird taste, would really not recommend.Only the bread is good so 2 Stars.

Julia K.

Yelp
I came here for the first time in summer when you could sit outside in the Biergarten. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and I enjoyed there craft beer selection. At my second visit yesterday, I was not disappointed either. Again, the food was excellent. My colleague ordered a Wiener Schnitzel that was as big as the plate. The church like interior looks fabulous, however it does get a little noisy with the high ceilings and only few sound absorbing features in the room.

Cheryl M.

Yelp
I used to travel quite often to Germany on business. Generally I stayed at the Mainz Hilton, lovely hotel with a lovely restaurant of its own, but often enough I walked to this restaurant for their goulash (sp?) which is wonderful, highly recommend.
google avatar

Fabiana N.

Yelp
The food was very good. The schnitzel was great and so was the penne with freshwater crabs. The place itself is beautiful, with plenty of outside seating and inside as well. The service was good, until the check came. We paid with debit cards and the server made a comment that in Germany, the tip was not included. I have never, had a server in Germany, or in any country, having to remind me of tipping or not. I always tip, regardless of where I go; however, this left a sour taste in my mouth... and with so many great restaurants in the area, I will consider going elsewhere first next time.

Ricky R.

Yelp
Host was not very polite to non Germans. Told my wife and I that outside was just closed. He didn't say anything else so then we asked to sit inside. It was almost empty but he said it was full, so nothing with covid spacing. Two couples went in as we left. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant ~ former church? I enjoyed the arugula pear salad and a delicious cranberry prosecco drink. Have to agree with several other reviews, service was slow but nice ... also, good for groups ~ but acoustics are poor when restaurant is full.
google avatar

Mike A.

Yelp
English menus available. Good food (braised ox cheeks) with paired Italian wine. The interior left me bored, like the designer had no imagination for the massive wall space. Waitress was nice and fluent in English but came by twice to the tables next to me but never checked on me though I was trying to get her attention as she attended to other patrons, so I ended up eating the last half of my delicious ox cheeks with neither wine nor water. Make reservations. - One star off for boring/uninspired use of space; this would be the perfect place for a nap. - One star off for clueless waitress.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Heilig Geist as an outsider in Mainz. The seating is comfortable, the ambience is really nice, and the food is solidly good. We had fantastic servers both times we visited and drank a goodly amount of Schofferhofer. They have English menus and our servers spoke very good English, which made the meal very relaxed for us. I suspect it's a little overpriced, but I found it to be worth it for the atmosphere. It was also open the hours it said it would be open, which seemed to not always be the case for businesses in Mainz. I'd definitely recommend Heilig Geist if you want someplace to eat good German food indoors in a nice, relaxed atmosphere.
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant. Food was very well done. Lasagna was delicious and decadent. Pizza was OK but, but the service was superior and as I mentioned the Lasagna was great so the pizza wasn't an issue. Great wine and beer selection. Can't beat the good service and lovely decor of the restaurant.

Yelp
Excellent food! Had the pumpkin soup and bacon wrapped pork. One of the best meals I've had while in Germany. Highly recommend!

Camille M.

Yelp
I went here with my dad. He got the veal schnitzel and I got the veal sausage. We shared an arugula salad. The schnitzel was good and there was a lot of it so it's definitely enough food. I really enjoyed the sausage and the mustard that comes with it is great. They don't give you much mustard but it's really strong so it's plenty. I would definitely recommend the arugula salad. They had english menus which was super helpful. Some people have complained about the service, but we had a pretty good experience. Our waitress was nice, but sometimes she took too long to check on us. For example, we had to wait a while after we finished to ask for the check, despite the restaurant not being that busy. Overall we had a pretty good experience though.
google avatar

Majeed F.

Yelp
Great place for a nice dinners rest dinner for the second time. The salmon was grilled crispy on the outside yet still moist inside. The salad was very fresh and plentiful.
google avatar

Stamper W.

Yelp
Sehr gut! Würde hier wieder essen! I came here with a group of exchange students! They accommodated our linguistic needs (English menus) and were very patient and kind to us the whole meal! We had probably one of everything on the menu as there were 10 of us and absolutely no complaints. Everyone left having enjoyed the ambiance, food, drink, and service. The restaurant has a very classy feel! Would come again on a date or for a nice dinner with friends.
google avatar

Yelp
As an American, I give this place 5 stars for having menus in English, Super friendly service (even though I only speak English), awesome ambiance, a beautiful interior decor. As for food..it was tasty with gourmet presentation. PS: I was told the name in English is Holy Ghost. Makes sense with church like decor but I was also told it is NOT an old church...it was made to look like that.
google avatar

Marc K.

Yelp
Very different but nice atmosphere. The menu is not the typical pub food but a good mix of local dishes. The overall impression is good food and drinks for a decent price. I saw several families in here, including their kids and even infants. They have a patio which must be nice in summer.
google avatar

Dmytro A.

Yelp
They seem to be experiencing some severe communication difficulties in the kitchen at the moment, which led to a preeeeeeeetty long wait for us. That normally would not be an issue, but my party included three children ages 12, 5, and 1. Otherwise, I would gladly have sat in their lovely Summer Garden drinking Rieslingschorle under the sun without a gripe during our 45 minute wait. Fact is, when you have a wait like that, it's simply common decency - at least where I come from - to throw in a free coffee or something for the kids. They didn't, so, subtract one star. Outside of that, everything was great. I ordered a HUUUUUUUGE salad with rosemary potatoes and it was filling without weighing me down on my subsequent walking tour of Mainz. More importantly, it was delicious. As we say, it hit the spot. The Rieslingschorle was reasonably priced and quite large, but on such a hot day, one really notices whether or not the Riesling is well-refrigerated. No matter, I did not thirst. The "croustarte", as they call them, are basically big pizzas served on a cutting board. They are pretty sizable, so unless people nickname you "garbage dispenser", "the hole", or "Bigfoot", you might end up taking some home or sharing with a friend. The espresso is okay, and they give you a nice little chocolate with it instead of a biscuit. During the summer months, definitely take a look at their Summer Garden menu. It looks delicious, if a tad pricey. I wish I had more opportunity to eat here so I could try it out more. Location-wise, it's right on the edge of the Altstadt, so it's ideal for a late lunch before or after a walking tour of the city. One more note: the bathrooms are fan-cee shman-cee! I felt transported to a five star hotel in someplace tropical. Well done, Holy Ghost.

Yelp
If the purpose of a restaurant is to eat good food, then I'm not sure why this merits its current four stars; their weiner schnitzel-- albeit extremely large, was extremely dry. However, it is quite unique, insofar as it's a converted Gothic church, which makes for an enchanting atmosphere by night. Definitely well-suited to larger parties, from a spatial perspective.

Susan S.

Yelp
This is an interesting place, was a church at one time I think. Interior is very nice, young waitstaff and friendly enough, the food was good, we had Schnitzel Weiner Art and the Rumpsteak, huge portions, all in all, it was a good meal. We did go early as it was a Friday night during the Christmas market and we didn't have reservations but were fortunate to be seated immediately. We'd return if we were in the area again.
google avatar

Terre G.

Yelp
The food here is always good. However, the service is really bad. We waited for a half hour for our order to be taken. Food was served just as slow. No follow up. Too bad, I've been here several times. Not top on my list any more.
google avatar

Gordon B.

Yelp
Church converted into bar/restaurant. Full wine/beer/mixed drinks menu NO credit cards accepted. Since this is asparagus season in Mainz, we had asparagus soup (hard to tell, since there wasn't much asparagus in the cream soup), asparagus with braised ham (really good, but a rather strange "hollandaise"), and asparagus with house-brined salmon on the side (birth components were good, and they didn't compete with each other. We were one if the few guests eating - the majority were enjoying beer or wine. Service was spotty - no one seemed to really know whose station we were on. btw, there is an English menu available, and most of the waitstaff have an adequate command of both English and French.
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
The worst service ever. It took 30 min to get waited on and that was only after asking, another 20 min to get the beer we ordered, another 30-40 min to get 1st course and after waiting another 45 min for dinner, never seeing our server and also asking 2 other servers for help, we finally got up and left with no dinner, no offer of beer refills, etc. The 1st course food was good, but after 2.5 hours with no dinner in sight and no waiter to assist us, 2 stars is generous.

Yelp
Beautiful location, OKish food, loud Former church hospice with soaring sandstone walls and vaulted ceilings. A bit like eating in a cathedral. German food was OKish. Steak was a bit tough. The place is also very loud due to stone walls so not really on my return list. Your mileage may differ.

Yelp
Great ambiance.....but the food is average at best, and the service isn't what we were hoping for at a restaurant priced at "slightly above average". We opted to sit inside to enjoy the ambiance, and I'm glad we did. It was quite intriguing to dine inside an old historic church. They did a good job of minimizing the echo, so it wasn't very loud. Although, it wasn't a super packed evening. More than half of the restaurant (indoors) was empty on a Sunday evening. Which leads me to the service and food.....I have to say I was quite disappointed. I ordered the saltimbocca with gnocci. My husband had the pork schnitzel (subbed fries instead of the warm potato salad). My mother had a veal schitzel with the potato salad. My son also had a schitzel (kids menu). All the schnitzels were made well, but weren't spectacular. Portions were nice and large. My saltimbocca, however, was very dry. It looked like it had been sitting out (probably under a heat lamp or something) for a while. The gnocci was quite good, I have to say. It took almost an hour for us to get our food. When my husband inquired about the order, we were told "well, we have a lot of people seated outside". If we ever visit again, we won't be doing it with a family/child. Seems like a nice place for a slow and leisurely couples night out/meal if you're not in a rush and are willing to wait. I was expecting a bit more (after all, I can get a half decent schnitzel with better service at many other restaurants in the area). If you're into the architecture you may still enjoy it.

Yelp
What a beautiful space! This is truly one of the most beautiful bars I have been to and such a special space with its history. The staff were incredibly friendly. I can't speak to the food because we just went for a drink, but the service was great and it is absolutely worth stopping in even if only for a drink or two

Yelp
The atmosphere in this restaurant is just great, a bit posh though and so are the prices. But it ist worth it! The restaurant is seperated into two parts: one serves only as a restaurant and in the other part you also only have drinks. If you are there you have to try the homemade lemonade with mint. It's gorgeous! And if you are hungry: try one of the famous Croustartes! Yumyummmmm! :o) This restaurant/bar is definitely worth a visit, especially around Christmas, when they built up a beautiful Christmas tree.
