The hotel has a great location and a very helpful staff. However, there is a glaring issue they ignore despite the many reviews about it: the room is unbearably hot. There seems to be a central air conditioning system, but it is kept turned off. We requested fans and were given one with no power that only circulated hot air. I understand that Norway’s climate is mostly cold, but guest comfort during the summer must be considered. This is a detail that would make me not book a stay at Heimen again, especially because it’s a recurring complaint they seem to ignore.

We stayed 1 night at the hotel with 3 of us. We got a room at the 3rd floor with 1 double bed and staple beds. It was really warm in the room. There's a window in the room, but it can't be opened. They provided 2 portable fans for the room, but it didn't help to circulate the warm air. The floor was also a bit sticky. When I looked up under the bed, I found lots of dust... I'm afraid that they don't really clean the floor of the room regularly..

The location was right at the centre of Bergen. It is close to major parks, attractions, waterfront and restaurants. Room was very hot. It’s like a sauna. We stayed here in May 2025 and it was an unpleasant experience. The other reviews here were true. Their rooms which are unnecessarily hot will make you uncomfortable. No one wants to fix it after advising the reception. Most of the reception staff are pleasant but there’s this one woman who seems to be aloof and distant all the time. It’s as if she’s not working in a hotel or in the hospitality industry. You need to be a people person when working in a hotel. Breakfast is decent. Good choices and several options. Our experience would’ve been much better if they took care of the heating system.

Great price quality ratio. Location is convenient, close to center, walkable distance to many attractions. Room is clean and tidy. Staff is friendly. Breakfast has many options and delicious. We had a pleasant stay.

This hotel is centrally located but the location alone is not enough of a reason to stay here. The rooms are cramped and dark. The bathrooms are functional but bare bones. If you go in the summer, as we did, there is no air conditioning in the rooms. The rooms get unbearably hot. Also, I was traveling with two kids and reserved one of the rooms with bunk beds. They ended up moving us to a different room despite the reservation. The room they put us in didn’t even have a second bed for the kids. Instead, we got a room with a window seat to which they added a mattress pad and called it a bed. It was unacceptable and the hotel was unwilling to do anything about it. At the breakfast, I asked for ice and was told the ice machine was broken. The breakfast buffet is small and the options mediocre.

Great value for money, full of valuable facilites such as convenient luggage storage before check in time, great and versatile breakfast from 06:30am. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. Special thanks for warm welcome and help from dear miss ET on reception :))

The location was excellent, the rooms were modern and clean and staff all very friendly. We were most impressed with the breakfast. The amount of options was incredible including the more standard options such as eggs, potatoes, bacon, oatmeal, deli meats and pancakes to special treats such as ginger and veggie shots, a delicious chia seed mango mix, and little chocolate desserts to top it off. Definitely recommend if you want a great value and location to see Bergen.

Ok, I know it is Bergen in the middle of the summer season, so we expected to pay a high price for one night booked at the last minute (we are cycle touring so you can’t plan too much in advance). However, we didn’t expect to get such a small room for over $200. Just 30cms between the walls and the bed and less between the desk and the end of the bed. Our luggage had more space in the hallway. The bathroom is very compact with the shower right next to the toilet. Unfortunately the shower curtain is not wide enough to stop water going on to the toilet or to the basin. Just lacking attention to detail. That brings me to the lamps which are in strange and not useable locations. There is a kettle in the room but the cord is not long enough to plug in. Of course you can shift the desk but then you can’t get past. The room is warm and if you open the window there is a lot of street noise. The bed was comfortable and we did sleep well. The breakfast buffet selection is very good and their soft boiled eggs were just right, one of the first hotels who have done them correctly. The service from the staff was excellent and very helpful. They provided a place to park our bikes inside. They had a very nice stay in luxury parking for the night and had more space than our room.
