If you like Applebees, this is not your place. We sat at the bar, enjoying the kitchen staff at work. The food is made fresh, not out of bottles or boxes or other packaging, and no additives. We had a hard time deciding what to order-- it all looked good-- and eventually ordered escarole, candied carrots, the burger (not written in the menu), and fettuccini. The pasta was freshly made and tossed with pepper salt and mushrooms like a carbonara. The burger was served on a biscuit with prepared onion, no ketchup necessary. We had gouda and strawberry shortcake for dessert. I like desserts that aren't too sweet, and the shortcake certainly was not; a little more sugar would have been better though. Everything was delicious, with a balance of flavors and mouthfeels. Our bottle of water was never empty. The menu was enticing and different. Many restaurants have same-old options. These dishes were creative, like coming home from the farmers market and preparing a home-cooked meal with whatever was at the market. It was a lot like how we cook and eat at home. The room does have a lot of hard surfaces, which makes it loud. Sound baffles could help, or adding some fabric like drapery. There's a screened in porch and a chef's bar where you can sit and watch the chef at work. There are not a lot of restaurants that inspire us in the Berkshires, but we look forward to returning to Heirloom Lodge.

I love the exterior of the building and the interior - especially the large open kitchen layout where you can watch the action. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The soup I got was incredible and I got the chicken as my entrée. I liked the portion size but thought it was a bit plain. I also tried the gnocchi which I thought was plain. I definitely want to come here again and try other dishes next time.

Since opening in May 2024, Heirloom Lodge has become our favorite spot in the Berkshires. My partner and I come almost every weekend—it’s the kind of place that just feels good to be in. Driving up, the restaurant seems to appear out of nowhere, its modern farmhouse design standing out in the landscape. The property is beautifully landscaped, and the spacious gravel lot means we’ve never once had to stress about parking. Inside, the space is stunning—part of the building is an old structure stripped down to its wooden frame, which now adds warmth and character to the dining room. The newer addition, with its open kitchen, chef’s counter, and communal table, feels airy and modern, especially with the huge sliding glass doors that open onto the garden. But what really makes Heirloom Lodge special is the people. Matt, the owner, is a fantastic human being, and he’s built a team that reflects his energy—talented cooks, a chill wait staff, and bus people who all contribute to the easygoing, welcoming vibe. The little details set the tone right away, like the Marcona almonds and Castelvetrano olives that come with your apéritif (I don’t drink these days, so I get the kombucha on tap—highly recommend). The farm-to-table menu is thoughtfully put together, offering a prix-fixe option alongside an ever-changing selection of appetizers and entrées. The food is best described as rustic French / Italian—hearty but masterfully executed. Some of our favorites? The steam oven-roasted chicken with caramelized onions and bread stuffing is pure comfort, and the gnocchi roasted with fennel sausage is the kind of dish you think about long after the meal. The bouillabaisse was a recent standout—unexpected and absolutely delicious. There’s just something about this place—it’s welcoming, it’s warm, and it always leaves us looking forward to coming back. If you haven’t been yet, go. You’ll see what we mean.

This place was wonderful last year: It was consistently superb in every dimension. This year, summer 2025, sadly everything has changed. It was not at all like the past. There were about 10 or 12 appetizers but only three entrees on the menu. The appetizer was pretty good but tiny. The $62 chicken dinner for two could have served 3 or 4 people, but the chicken was dry and really tasteless, and served at just above room temperature. Mercifully, the chicken was served with a very strong mustard, which at least gave it some appeal, but it’s bad news when chicken has to be served with mustard to make it interesting. They provided no bread, but $6 would get four slices of unremarkable bread (it was from Berkshire Mountain Bakery, which is usually very high quality, but this time it seemed less flavorful than usual and a little hard). The lemonade was very good but could not have been served in a smaller cup. The music was loud, making it hard to converse. The waiter was cheery, and the staff generally were clearly interested in being helpful, but the service was inattentive, and we had several long gaps when we didn’t see the waiter. For this quality of experience, it would not have been worth it at even half the price. I've been to this place many times last year and loved it every time. I don’t know if I’ll go back this year.

Our family experienced a wonderful evening at this restaurant last Saturday. Great, open space and the menu choices are unique, flavorful and have you yearning for what's coming next. I suggest sampling several small plates, as we did, along with the pasta, which was transcendent. The chef/owner stopped by our table to chat and was quite the jokester with a warm presence...so ignore the previous posts regarding any attitude. Is it expensive for the area? Maybe. But I challenge you to find dishes like this anywhere else.

Had a fabulous dining experience last night! Our server Julie was informative, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and we loved the ambiance as well. Besides the food in the photos, we had halibut and broccoli Raab. Beware the broccoli raab was spicy. We were delighted with everything about it. Also loved that the noise level was moderate. Can’t wait to come back with friends!

Dinner at Heirloom Lodge was a complete delight. The space is elegant and rustic, comfortable and welcoming. The service was perfectly paced, attentive and warm. The food was beautiful, special, approachable, nourishing and delicious. We left feeling like we had just had a very special evening.

Delicious food- everything was tasty, the carrots, flat bread, chicken, salads, etc... However, the service was bad. The waitress forgot one dish from our order, didn't check on us (could not get her attention for a 20 minute stretch toward the end), brought warm tap water. They had ceiling fans on to cool the restaurant on an 80 degree evening. No A/C. We were sweating with the open kitchen and hot room. It was too bad because we really wanted to like the restaurant. It has a beautiful structure and cool vibe (would have rated atmosphere better except for the stuffiness and heat), but too many problems for us to return.
