If you come to Kandy, you have to visit Helga’s folly! The decor is just incredible and worth the visit alone. We loved walking around and checking out every different corner of this place. Add to that good service and a delicious strong margarita and you’ve got a winning combination.

Absolutely a must visit if you like and eccentric, maximalist, arty, history, eccentric mix of history and colour. We just walked from Kandy in about 35 mins from temple and had a refreshing drink in the gardens. Unfortunately the rear has been impacted by the recent cyclone, but a very warm welcome and free to walk around and read about the history of yhe folly, celebrities that visited and immerse yourself in the whimsey of life!

Stopped by for a quick visit — such a unique and eccentric place! The decor is wild, full of art and history, unlike anything else in Kandy. Definitely worth seeing even if you’re not staying overnight.

Splendid ! Uncanny art , hospitality, clean, neat rooms, super breakfast.
Forest environs with great views of the lake & mountains in the distance !
What a concept ?
Reminded me of how lively & consciously that we should live our lives in this existence by knowing of the ends of our lives.
Highly Recommended !

Very awesome 7/6. My family and I had the best time at this anti-hotel. It’s magical and whimsical, super special place with loads to see and experience. Service was excellent. This is certainly not a place for everyone, if you are looking for a unique experience, give it a try.
It could use a proper cleaning and upgrade to some areas. That said, we loved our time here.

Madame Helga’s place is fun, quirky, eccentric and bursting with history. I highly recommend visiting for a look around and a cup of tea. Unfortunately my veg biryani didn’t live up to the positive reviews I’d read here on TripAdvisor but it was still worth going for the decor!

Not recommended, very run down, way too expensive for what you get. Downstairs really nice just to have a drink, and the staff is very friendly and helpfull. However, the rooms may have been funky 30 years ago, but are dirty dust smelly, windows can’t be opened because of the monkeys, old bedsheets and old towels etc. The rooms really need a renovation!

We stopped by here for dinner and it was such a wonderful and quirky experience. Everything about this place is unique and fun….as Madam Helga says. ‘What’s life without a little whimsy’? Definitely visit if you are in Kandy….you will probably want to stay as I did. Will definitely be back!
And did I mention the food?? Best coconut soup and Raj fish cakes!
