"One of eight Tasmanian distilleries specializing in single-malt whiskey, Hellyers Road is Burnie’s local drop, and the top-selling whiskey in Australia . In addition to the Scottish-style stuff, Hellyers Road produces smooth vodka and warming whiskey cream. Travelers can purchase the full range of bottles at the Hellyers Road "cellar door," or tasting room, located adjacent to the distillery—consider booking a spirited 30-minute tour in advance—and the Distillery Café, which marinates relishes and rib eyesteaks in its original whiskey."

Really enjoyed my walking whisky tour with Mickey. He made the experience fun and interesting. I enjoyed the whiskies I tasted and was very impressed by the distillery itself. The tour cost me $25 and I paid the extra $10 for the upgraded tasting, which I felt was worth it to try a +20 year bottle. The experience lasted a little over 30 minutes. I highly recommend checking this out if you love whisky and are cruising through.

We recently visited the distillery, and I have to say, it was an awesome experience! As new shareholders, we were really excited to see everything up close, and our host, Emma, made it even better. She was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable, sharing all sorts of interesting tidbits about the distillation process and the history of the place. Even though the distillery wasn't in full swing during our visit, we had a good look at the factory and a really good explanation on how everything operates. It was fascinating to see behind the scenes! One of the highlights for us was bottling our own whisky at the end of the tour—it felt special to take home something we are now a part of. And the whisky tasting was magnificent. We were able to sample some really high-quality stuff, and Emma guided us through the flavors, which was really helpful. Overall, it was a great way to spend some time and I’d recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about the process and tasting some excellent whisky.

I had a fantastic experience at Hellyers Road Distillery! Emma at the counter was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. She enthusiastically shared insights about the distillery's offerings and explained how new make turns into whisky. The whisky tasting was affordable and well worth it. I highly recommend visiting for a tasting and picking up a Glen Cairn glass as a souvenir!

Lovely spot with beautiful views across a wide valley. I did the tour as a one off with no one else there (on a Thursday) and bought a heap of beautiful whisky. My favourite was the distiller's choice section where after making teh staff aware I was buying for sure (!!!) I got to sample a bunch of cask whiskies of which I bought a number of bottles which included a 22 year old which was off the dial beautiful and great value (not cheap). They offered to bottle the whisky for me and send to me later which was perfect. Staff were amazing and knowledgeable. Glad I stopped and dropped in for a great Australian product which is at least the equal of the best international whiskies. This is a truly under recognised whisky producer.

Had a great time here, tasted practically every single whiskey on offer (that I wanted). Customer service was exceptional although the 1 person was a bit hard to share around. He even provided information on all our surrounding activities. Absolutely loved the whiskeys of course, these will be my new staple from now on. They are amazing and it is very important to us to support Australian made. Some very unique tastes, and the whiskeys made to sucker in non-whiskey drinkers definitely work. I was expecting more of a non-whiskey range, but they no longer produce them, and I think that may be a good thing. More time to concentrate on le whiskeys.

Popped by on a whim and enjoyed tasting a few varieties. Well worth a sport, picked up a few bottles and headed on my way. Staff were super informative and very friendly - will be ordering more.

Lovely place with fantastic food! The best roasted potatoes in all of Tasmania. Believe me, you have to try it! And the coconut lime cheesecake was heavenly. The staff were so kind and made our visit a wonderful time. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Yelp
My favourite thing about this place is how they change the menu to match the season, winter is my absolute favourite because of the pot pie! Best damn pot pie I have ever eaten. It's amazing that they use so much Tasmanian produce, it makes such a difference in taste. The tour itself is quiet short, but can guarantee you'll be drunk by the end.

Yelp
Have been visiting Tassie over the past week and took a trip up north to Hellyers. We only stopped here for about an hour so and did not have any food here. We did go on the tour at 10:30am, I think this runs daily (as we came on a Tuesday). The tour was about $17/18 and went for 45minutes. The guide went through the history of the distillery and the whisky making process in a good amount of detail. We also sampled two of the undiluted whiskies which are not available to the public. We were shown the distilling equipment and the barrel store. The guide also explained the history behind the barrels and let us in on facts about pricing. The products here are of a very reasonable price I think. The whisky has received good reviews and is about $80 for 750mL. I am not a whisky drinker, but will add what Thomas K thinks when he gets his bottle. Overall the venue is in a great setting and well worth a visit. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I would recommend to any yelpers and friends.

Yelp
Just came here while on an exploratory road trip with friends. Beautiful setting with great views. Didn't have time for a meal so can't comment on their food. We did the guided tour that was good value for money. Told the story of the place. Shown the process of the whiskey and where it is created and stored. Tasted the two main whiskeys they produce. I found the whiskey too strong for me in flavour and alcohol percentage. Would be a nice place to visit for food in a group.

Yelp
I was part of a tour off a cruise ship. I have problems standing for long periods so had to give up before the tasting. To taste you have to tour. A friend said the whiskey was good. I will never know.
