Authentic and absolutely delicious! I had a wonderful dining experience at Helna’s Stube! I ordered the Rack of Lamb, Kärntner Kasnudel, and the dessert Mohr im Hemd — every dish was bursting with authentic flavor and beautifully prepared. The food was rich, comforting, and truly reflective of Austrian cuisine. The Rack of Lamb was perfectly cooked, the Kasnudel was a unique and hearty treat, and the Mohr im Hemd was the perfect sweet finish. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for genuine European flavors and warm hospitality. A gem of a place!

A must stop when in Radium Hot Springs. I have been going to this restaurant for 24 years and still my favorite place to eat. The food is amazing and the staff are awesome. First restaurant I have been to that I asked the chef to come to my table so I could shake his hand.

Would go out of the way to eat here again, very very recommended. Food and service are amazing obviously but that really doesn't capture how satisfied you feel after. Sautéed prawns to start (very good) followed by main courses. The salmon and prawns were my favorite, but you really cant go wrong here. For dessert we had the homemade apple strudel and crepes. Everything is cooked perfectly and super well seasoned/ balanced. Definitely call ahead as it is very popular! Wish i tipped more and remembered our server's name, as this is now one of my favorite restaurants.

We read the reviews however we found the Service was horribly slow. Over 3 hrs. 1 hour sitting at the table before our meal was served. 1 hour sitting waiting for dessert & coffee after the meal. Then had to wait again at the table to pay the bill. Liver & onions meal was overcooked. Mushroom schnitzel was dry. Very disappointed.

This is a special restaurant! If you’re in a hurry, don’t bother! The cook is the owner and he creates magic from the moment you sit down. The meals are all hand crafted and made to order! Including the soups and salads all the way through the desserts. Great food takes time and while you’re there, you can chat up the servers, get to know the owners and have one of the best meals of your life. It is best to make reservations as it’s always busy, especially on weekends during the summer. We don’t even need a menu… we always have “The Special!” Plus, the garlic soup is superb! Don’t skip out on this jewel of the valley. When in Radium, you must run to HS! Thanks for the many amazing meals and conversations we have had over the years!

We recommend to book a reservation as this place was busy and for good reason! A friendly, quaint, and delightful evening out. The restaurant was busy and the options for indoor or outdoor dining were available and plenty. The service was friendly and down to earth, and the table decor was lovely. Simple but elegant. The food is what proves to be a delight. Our family had French onion soup, the garlic soup, the escargot and the buffalo mozzarella with tomato appetizers. All amazing. We had the peppercorn steak and substituted Swiss potatoes. So tasty. Two of us had the mushroom schnitzel. Unreal flavour in this dish. The portions were huge and the flavour phenomenal. Such a lovely dinner. If you are staying in the area it is well worth the visit!

Google
The Black Forest in Invermere is a much much more enjoyable experience. We couldn't get a reservation there so we went here. The appetizers are terrible and recommend skipping them, while the main courses are good. Services is very slow and they like to remind you of the minimum spend. If paying by credit the tip is calculated on top of tax so make sure to calculate it yourself.

Delicious! Very accommodating to my group of 6. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
So I never got to eat here because the staff was do rude and kept on saying we are busy, instead of saying how long the wait is. Clearly they didn't need my business, is how I took it. Plenty tables open, maybe they don't have the wait staff? Idk. It was 730pm. I would have liked to had some Austrian food. Too bad! But I went back for dessert, the waitress had to check with the manager if I could have a table just for dessert. I had the berry pastry, it was so good and fresh. $9. Despite the wait staff behavior and the long wait, I still recommend this place.

Yelp
Would go out of the way to eat here again, very very recommended. Not sure why the other reviews mention service, our server was amazing, very friendly and attentive and I wish i tipped her more. Food is just as amazing obviously but that really doesn't capture how satisfied you feel after. Really wish I tipped more and remembered our server's name, as this is now one of my favorite restaurants.

Yelp
There was a minor mishap with the restaurants stove which delayed my order. Because or this the restaurant's owner graciously would not accept payment and comped the whole meal!

Yelp
What a gem! We had a wonderful dinner here last night and can't wait to go back. It was a snowy night and walking in we were warmly greeted by Natasha, one of the owners, and felt instantly at home in the cozy and comfortable dining room. The fireplace was going and the tables and chairs are comfortable and nicely spaced around the dining room. The menu is filled with so many dishes but we both ordered schnitzel....one with mushroom sauce and the other was the roasted garlic special. We split a Caesar salad and some Canadian Pinot Gris that was surprisingly delicious. The salad dressing was lemony and light. Our entrees arrived and were beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. The schnitzel was tender and golden brown and the sauce was creamy but not heavy. The spaetzle was light and perfect. My husband substituted red cabbage for vegetables and it was nicely spiced and delicious. Natasha shared that her husband and chef, Helmut, slices and prepares the schnitzel to order which makes a difference that you can taste. We were not rushed and enjoyed finishing our wine in the warm atmosphere before closing out our meal with an ice cream dessert. Highly recommend this lovely spot. It is not to be missed if you are staying in or passing through the area.

Yelp
Start with the positives, the food is great! It's an expensive restaurant but the German/Austrian food is wonderful. But the attitude of staff and our waiter was horrendous. If you weren't quick enough to order he would leave the table, we felt rushed even though we were there for over 2 hours. We were a larger table but kitchen was very slow. This would have been fine if the service was more relaxed and welcoming. Do not bother showing up without a reservation as you'll be scolded. Don't ask for separate bills or you'll be scolded. No one in our party will ever go back! , Good thing there are 2 other great German restaurants in the area.

Yelp
Food was great. Nice couple who own it. Highly recommend. But to post this it takes way too many characters

Yelp
One of the better Austrian/German Foods that I've ever had in Canada. I won't compare it with the one that I had in Germany. My bf's dad agreed as well since he eats lots more Austrian/German Foods in those two countries as he lives in the southern part of the Netherlands and often go to Germany for weekends or holiday to Austria. Expensive imported beers compare to other restaurants in touristy towns where we have been to along the way of our road trip to Western Canada. The ambience feels like you are in Europe where you didn't get rushed to enjoy your meals. The European homey feeling was lost at the end as the waiter was demanding a higher tip in a rude way aside of the price of beer itself. Noticing as the place is getting busier, the warm feeling of hospitality is slowly going away. I deducted the stars from 5 to 3 stars due to the hospitality point that they can't manage all the way through.

Yelp
Our dinner take a long time to deliver. Their kitchen help need to improve. We like the Canadian Rockies at Radium Hot Springs Area. At this this area has a few very good restaurant with good chef. After we have eat around the town, we find this area has a strong Austrian Cuisine and Helna's Stube is one of them. It is important to have the reservation or go earlier when they open. We were lucky to get the last two seat. This restaurant was recommended by our raft trip tour guide. So we decided to give a try. We have ordered the Atlantic Sole Fillet and Lamb Shank. The lamb shank is braise with garlic and wine. It is soft and well balanced taste. The only think is the shank meat is a bit too less compared to Cuban cuisine. The sole is perfect. It is cool with creamy wine sauce. Before the sauce was top, the fish was fried or pan sear with potato crust. This is good dish but I think need a bit salt. The 3 stars rating is wait for food is long, they do charge a lot of money but need to be more value. Overall is good chef skill, good service, good atmosphere.

Yelp
Awesome food, friendly servers, but a bit sneaky with hidden charge, very disappointed We live in Banff and always wanted to try this place out and were there last week finally. We were very grateful that they sat us 15 mins before closed. There were three other parties that they also seated after us with the last one even 45 mins after they closed. Nice gesture as there ain't many choices around. We each got our appy but my friend have never had schnitzel so we decided to share one as it seems quite big. Our server offered if we would like the main to be split in two plates, we thought yes that would be awesome. However, he hiked up the price by x1.5 and never informed us about the charge so we were quite shocked to find the bill with our main at $40.50 instead of $28.50. We felt totally cheated. Yes we ate the food but it's just simply wrong. I've had mains split at different restaurants and never had they applied extra charges, not to mention I'm in the same industry managed restaurants myself. We are in pandemic and are not big spenders, both temp laid off. Really do not need this. Our meal was great, from bread and even butter to the goulash but the sneaky charge left us in very sour taste. We would go to Black Forest or Old Salzburg instead next time we are in the area again and would sure not recommend this place to our guests at our hotels if they are interested in the area.

Yelp
Very Disappointed!!! This restaurant is Over Rated, Over Priced, with Marginally Unfriendly Service. Food was Good, but not Great. They are Legends in their own mind. Still using Covid protocols, ie no menus, and way too many Rules!!!

Yelp
I had read others reviews of this restaurant and came in with high expectations......and they were surpassed! We didn't have reservations for the Saturday night we dined there, but since we got to the restaurant just after it opened, we had no issues getting a table. We did ask to be moved from our first table, as it was too close to the A/C. The menu is decent length, with a lot of interesting choices. For an appetizer, my wife and I had the Baked Brie. So yummy. Even the salad around it was delicious. The Brie was wrapped in filo pastry. For dinner, I had Helna's Pepper Steak and my wife had the Beef Roulade. The steak was perfectly cooked and was topped with a great peppercorn sauce. But the star of the plate was the potato noodles. They were like an uncut gnocchi. Amazing. My wife's enjoyed her roulade. It was sided with homemade spätzle and cabbage. Everything was fresh. Service was solid, nothing special.

Yelp
Very friendly service and staff, minimal waits, food came hot. Best food I've had in years, can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Very good food at a reasonable price. I really can't say much more. I would recommend one of their specials...Top Notch.

Yelp
Amazing place. Served an excellent dinner by Zorin "z-man". This place went above and beyond for food and service. Didn't get here until 9pm. Had a couple appetizers and the lamb, steak, and salmon. They were all incredible. I've had lamb all over the world and I can tell you the rack of lamb here was the best I've ever had. We were here last 11pm much past close and there was never a moment of pressure. Very impressed. Will definitely return when back in Radium. Please come eat here, you will not regret it!

Pajamas B.

Yelp
Boyfriend had the lamb shank and I had the veal liver dish, both were delicious. Desserts were great too! The hazelnut chocolate cake really had a rich hazelnut flavor.

Valerie M.

Yelp
Delicious food and friendly service, especially if you have food allergies. They took my dairy, gluten and nightshade vegetable allergies seriously and the meal was tasty and beautifully presented. Highly recommended if you in the area!

Yelp
Go to Helna's Stube. Your only regret will be that you didn't discover it sooner. I would give this place 6/5 stars if I could. I was in Radium this weekend and ate at Old Salzburg and the spaetzle and schnitzel which were both bland. I decided to try Helna's Stube to compare. As soon as we walked in we loved the place. The decor was upscale kitschy, it was quiet, and the server gave us an amazing table at the window looking out at the mountains. My wife and I both ordered the mushroom schnitzel for dinner. First, bread came. It was hot sourdough rolls that had a perfectly crisp crust and a soft chewy texture inside. When our schnitzel came the first bite had us both in heaven. The pork was so tender and flavourful. The breading was perfect and it was very well seasoned. The mushroom sauce was decadent but not overpowering and the spaetzle was perfectly dense with crunchy fried bits that added amazing texture. Every bite was bliss and we both cleaned off our plates. We heard the couple behind us ask about apple strudel and the server let them know it was made in house. We also asked our server, specifically if the dough was made in house too. The answer was yes and we ordered it. (Side note: I hadn't had homemade strudel in the 8 years since pastry school and I set the bar very high) The strudel came out and I tapped the top layer of pastry with my fork. It cracked and crumbled perfectly. The sheets of dough had been pulled so thin you could see through some of them. It was baked to perfection, apples coated in cinnamon, raisins plump and sweet, dough crisp, and whipped cream on the side. There are not enough words to describe how much I enjoyed that strudel. If you are in Radium, do not skip this amazing restaurant!

Yelp
I'm almost loathe to write this review because I'm afraid this little gem will be overrun. Oh well. Helna's Stube is a comfortable Austrian restaurant in Radium. They bill themselves as casual gourmet and it's spot on. We started with a pint each of Warsteiner and Isenbeck beer before diving into our appetizers, cream of garlic soup and escargot. The escargot was quoted as being the "best she'd ever had" and the cream of garlic soup was light for a cream soup but thankfully not light on garlic! There were also hot, fresh sourdough rolls served with butter and they also doubled as sponges for the soup and escargot. Our two mains were both on the specials menu. One being a seafood assortment and the other a beef with chanterelles in a red-wine demi-glace. Both were filling and fantastic. Dessert was ice cream with fresh berries and whipped cream (one of the less adventurous options on the dessert menu but it was still good) and the best cherry schnapps I've ever had the pleasure to drink. The service was European and professional in that we were served by two Austrian tourism students who were in Canada for work experience. I was even more impressed with the staff after the awful table of geriatrics next to us had the gall to open bottles of their own wine at the table (!) and how the staff and management dealt with the issue without interrupting the flow of our, or anyone else's, dinner. I don't say many things are a must try, but Helna's Stube definitely is.
google avatar

Eri H.

Yelp
So this is place is pricy but it's in a tourist town, so it's to be expected. The service is very friendly and accommodating (helping us move inside when it looked like it might rain on us on the patio). The food was delicious, both the beef roulade and the classic Wiener schnitzel with spatzle. If ever in the area again, I would plan to come back here.
google avatar

Rob H.

Yelp
Read all the positive reviews on Helna's while on a golf vacation in the area. Food was fantastic.... I had the venison cutlet. Service was also good and prompt. We showed up right at opening for dinner so we did not need reservations but they are definitely recommended if you would like to go at a peak time as it was packed in the small dining room by the time we were finished. I will definitely come back to Helna's when I'm in the area.

Yelp
The negative part of our experience here was the time and pacing of the meal. I felt like I should lead with that because if you're thinking of eating here, you should allow 3 hours for a party of two without any wait for a table. No exaggeration. There is a nice disclaimer in the front of the menu explaining how the chef prepares everything personally and that the experience will take some time. We take no issue with this, as the quality of the food supports that claim. What was off about the place seemed to be the priorities of the service. We had to wait for everything, and often felt forgotten about while others who sat after us were served. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to what happened when, or who received service and who didn't. It was just...odd...they need a more aggressive front of house approach. The upside, and it is significant, is excellent food and friendly staff. All of the other reviews are spot on about the quality Austrian/German fare and the entire staff was warm and genuine. The pace is just too slow for contemporary dining, especially in a tourist destination where patrons want to be outside doing other things. We felt our experience was below average and, ultimately, disappointing.
google avatar

Shannon G.

Yelp
Wonderful! The entire experience was entertaining and scrumptious. The food is freshly prepared for each order....yes the spaetzle too! The atmosphere was cosy enough for romance but still suitable for casual gatherings. The staff made you feel at ease .
google avatar

Shelley B.

Yelp
This place served good food, but nothing incredibly special. Still, it's good for the area and worth going to if you have a few nights in Radium. It was my birthday, and unfortunately they were out of the ravioli dish I ordered, but the trout was a decent second choice. I enjoyed my chocolate cake. I did have to laugh at the parfait that my husband's grandmother was served. It was a parfait...on a plate. Who has ever heard of a parfait on a plate? Just weird.
google avatar

Al S.

Yelp
The food here was incredible, wonderful flavours and cooked to perfection. I had beef roulade and my wife had mushroom schnitzel, I can hardly wait to go back and experience another delicious plate off their menu. Service was not the most efficient, not the fastest but friendly and helpful, perfect pace for our weekend getway.
google avatar

Derek A.

Yelp
I will not come back here. Our group were the only ones in the restaurant when we got there. A few more tables filled up after we got there, maybe 25% capacity. Took nearly 30 minutes to get drinks. Took about 1 1/2 hours to get our appetizers. Around the 2 hour mark we finally got our food! We had 4 kids under the age of 5. Spending 2 1/2 hours there was ridiculous. Their excuse, was because it was all handmade. Really?! Any restaurant I eat at serves me handmade food, and I'm in and out in about 1 1/2 hours. The only reason they got 2 stars was because the food wasn't. I'll never get those 2 1/2 hours of my life back.

Robert V.

Yelp
We dine here several times a year. The food is authentic, Austrian cuisine prepared beautifully by Helmut in the kitchen. The schnitzels are wonderful, the salmon and prawns my wife's favourite dish and the steak is always cooked to perfection. The pork hock is great but you have to order a day ahead. They've trimmed back their menu to get diners in and out more quickly who don't want to make an evening of it. But why rush? Just ask for a second round of freshly baked buns and have another glass of wine.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant; however it's very pricy. After seeing the prices my party and I decided to just have a drink and leave. The waiter had to check if it was okay for us to do this. This created an awkward vibe. The waiter cleared our entire table with an attitude. I could tell he was annoyed with us. I had a terrible time because of how awkward the waited made it.

Yelp
In the heart of Radium, lies this little gem of a place called HELNA'S STUBE. We'd heard good things about this restaurant, and like the reviewer before me, I almost hate to tell anyone else of its delicious food and great service. We arrived on a Saturday night without a reservation, and even though the place wasn't very busy, you could see there was only one server and she was working very hard. She made effort to acknowledge us at the door, which is very important. We were seated right away and given a cozy, romantic spot next to the fire place. The restaurant isn't huge, doesn't have the latest and greatest in trend-setting design, but there's something about it that stills makes it very appealing. You can see the kitchen from the dining area, which I love. They have great Austrian and German beer, both bottled and on tap. Even though our server had to tend to about 5 tables herself, she did a great job making everyone feel welcome and didn't use the opportunity to complain or appear over stressed. She did a great job. We ordered the boccocini salad to start. mmm mm. Baby mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and delicious balsamic. We also had fresh rolls straight from the oven. As main courses, I ordered the beef roulade and my husband had the mushroom schnitzel. Oh boy. Ohhh boyyyyy. The portion sizes were huge! The spatzel (sp?) was delicious and I also had some warm red cabbage with mine. I could barely eat 70% of it but my husband devoured his. My gravy and beef were delicious and although the flavours were simple, the taste and seasoning were perfect. We didn't have dessert because we were wayyy too stuffed. But a good stuffed, like Thanksgiving or Sunday dinner. Our bill was about 78$ which wasn't too expensive given the quality AND quantity of the food. IT was nice to know that in a town as small as Radium, exists this awesome restaurant where you can treat yourself to a delicious meal while nestled away in the mountains. I can't wait to come back!

D.M B.

Yelp
Pros: -They got the protein right. We got the schnitzel, lamb and steak all three of the meats were prepared perfectly, very good -Nice and clean -staff was friendly - apple strudel was awesome Cons: -service is slow. Really slow. The menu says great food takes time and that is very true and we are glad to wait for it but it took forever to get everything including a beer or an extra this or that - sides to all dishes are boiled potatoes which are dry, and a trio of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots which are also a bit dry and bland -mixed drinks were weak

Yelp
If you have the time, I highly recommend this restaurant. We stopped by for dinner and had a marvelous meal. We started with the beef carpaccio (very nicely done) and the Salzburg Teller, a sampling of bundner fleisch, Tyrolean bacon and smoked ham (they were so tasty there was almost a fight over these). Moving on to the mains, I had the gluten free wiener schnitzel - that's right, gluten free, and it was awesome! My wife had the trout - wonderful flavor, cooked perfectly. There was also the mushroom schnitzel (a little old school and it is soooo good), the lamb shank (tender, not stringy, braised in a killer red wine sauce), and the steak and prawns (quality beef and large, plump shrimp). For dessert, there was the fantastic chocolate soufflé - wow did that disappear quickly! The wine list is small but with some reasonable choices. The only reason this place gets a four star instead of a five is the wait. The kitchen is small, and everything is made from scratch, which means you can be in for a long, long wait, like more than an hour an a half for the main courses. The food is awesome, but you better not be in a hurry. Bring a book or some good conversation and things will work out.
google avatar

Laura J.

Yelp
First off, the beer was fantastic. Service was excellent and so friendly! The appetizer my partner had was the garlic soup, which was literally cream of garlic. Definitely something different than the norm, but not for those who aren't a huge fan of garlic. It was hard to get through, and other than that this review would've been a 5 star. The mains we had were pasta and lamb shank, both of which were excellent. The dessert was also fantastic. Definitely recommend this cute restaurant for dates or special occasions as it was a tad expensive. The ambience was fantastic, with a cute Christmas tree and a real fire place. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
Food and service were incredible and they set an authentic European feel. It was a bit pricey though which is why only 4 stars.

Yelp
My absolute favorite German / Austrian restaurant. Everything is made fresh, great taste and great people (owners and staff).

Yelp
After patronizing this restaurant for many years, our party of nine had a bad experience with the female owner treating us very rudely and have never gone back. The food is good but not 'rave' worthy and is expensive. They get upset if you ask for more buns to keep you occupied while you wait, wait and wait for your meal.

Rudy P.

Yelp
I must admit the food was very good. However the wait was extremely long other patrons that arrived later were gone before we received our food. The straw that broke the camel's back was the $1 per extra bun that was charged.

Leonard B.

Yelp
Fantastic service, great food and we loved the waitress taking time to explain the menu. We highly recommend trying it.

Martin D.

Yelp
Very, very good European style food. The service was classy albeit not super swift, but it was a busy holiday weekend evening so I'll give them a pass; the whole family was helping out! The ingredients were well chosen (good cuts of meat, excellent choice of vegetables to keep it European but still tasty and healthy). You get what you pay for: it's not cheap but they don't scrimp on what ends up on the plate. Dessert was simply as good as the best apple strudel I ever had, matching the best at my relatives' houses. The best meal we had, by far, while we were traveling in B.C. that week. I'd give 4.5 stars if I could (expensive, very European which isn't popular with everyone) but since it was so surprisingly good for the area, it gets a 5 from me.

K C.

Yelp
The food was excellent! We stopped this restaurant after going to Radium hot spring. we loved the cozy little log cabin restaurant and we enjoyed everything we tasted. It is pricy but worth to spend money for. We will eat at this restaurant again anytime. BTW, the place is nice and romantic. It is not for a party with a lot of kids.

Bev B.

Yelp
Food and service were incredible and they set an authentic European feel. It was a bit pricey

MrRock N.

Yelp
Had a great dinner here tonight. After reading the other yelp reviews, and since we were spending a few days in Fairmont, my wife and I decided to give this place a chance and we weren't disappointed. The baked brie was small but very tasty. We both ordered the mushroom schnitzel....it was delicious. A generous piece of meat with spatzle and 3 different veggies. The desert crepes with ice cream was a little lackluster but still enjoyable. Our waitress was friendly and courteous. We will certainly be back the next time we pass through Radium.

Jenn A.

Yelp
Went as a larger group of 6 adults and 3 young children under 4. When we got to the restaurant there was one other table seated at that time. Food was excruciatingly.slow to arrive. This would have been understandable had the establishment been busy, however numerous tables that had been seated after us, ordered, ate, paid and left before our meals even arrived. Drink refills we're not offered during this time, just water was replenished. Ordered two plates of spaetzle, for two young children and asked for gravy for it, only to be charged $6.00 additionally per plate.....$6.00 for gravy! Ridiculous. The total meal took 2 hours 10 minutes (1 hour and 45 minutes of which was waiting) with no apology offered, until a third party called to complain. While the food was very good, definitely not worth the wait and lack of service. I will not recommend this restaurant to others.

Crystal B.

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere, but $16 for 4 overcooked prawns is atrocious! Told them the prawns were overcooked but no reimbursement was offered. Service was very good; food was sub-standard.

Janos K.

Yelp
I went to this restaurant Saturday night with my family after reading their good reviews on the Internet. Well, for us this joint was a total disappointment. I think the place is way overrated. The dining area is worn and has no European atmosphere at all. I was sitting close to the patio entrance inside the restaurant. The hardwood floor is wobbling and each time when the wait staff or a guest passed closer by our table I kind of felt like being in a rollercoaster. Our waitress was probably new, even though we went there later in the evening, she still used her cheat sheet to read out loud the daily specials. And when we have actually decided to order the special (which was a 3 course menu), she apologized saying they just run out (no substitute). So we decided to order a classic wiener schnitzel, and a pork schnitzel with mushrooms. The waiting was about 40 minutes and when I asked the waitress if this was their standard, she said at busy hours the wait can be up to a full hour, we were actually lucky to be served in roughly 40 minutes. So don't choose this place if you are hungry. The food was average, my schnitzel was paper thin, more breading than meet for sure. The taste was ok (could taste the oil they used for deep frying was old), not worth the price though. My suggestion is, if you crave European and you happen to stay in Radium, go up on the hill to the Citadella, you will get better food and friendly service at lower prices.

Yelp
Köstlich! A small non-assuming establishment, Helna's Stube restaurant was casual but comfortable as the name suggests (after Chef "HEL"mut and wife "NA"tascha's "ROOM" in German). Shortly after ordering, fresh hot baked sourdough rolls arrived - the perfect oxymoron of crusty and soft. The piping hot french onion soup had no shortage of onions and with the croutons, swiss cheese, and hint of beer was full of flavour. An unbelievably savoury wine cream and mushroom sauce bathed the most tender veal schnitzel I have ever enjoyed. Veal is painstakingly beaten by Helmut for each guest's order. This was accompanied by the smallest and fluffiest spätzle that has ever crossed my palate. To complete the meal, we waited patiently for nearly half an hour to taste their delicacy of two strawberry dumplings. A nice blend of crispy dumpling, warm fruit, and sweet coulis, the only thing missing was a complementary scoop of cold eis cream. Certainly worth a visit!
