i was visiting helsinki on a rainy weekend. unfortunately both the days i was there it rained almost non stop. i managed to do some sightseeing but i was also on the hunt for indoor activities. the library was recommended so i came to check it out, not really expecting much. was i wrong. this library is so cozy, it immediately became like a second home and not just a shield from the rain. the space inside is huge and has everything you need: a quiet area to study, spots to hang out with friends, or in my case a place to rest, eat a quick bite and be cozy. there are super comfortable corners where you can sit, take off your shoes and just mind your own business. the toilets are clean and convenient, and there are also water refill stations. truly a magical place.

The public library was amazing. Not only architecturally impressive but it’s a high end, high tech community center. It was teeming with people on a random Wednesday afternoon. The resources are extensive: large format printers, sewing machines, gaming rooms, music recording studios, musical instrument lending, work areas, reading rooms, cafes, outdoor balcony space, creative stairwell. Really spectacular. A must visit. It’s an eye-opener for re-inventing traditional libraries into vibrant, valuable community centers.

I loved it here so much I visited twice. Great atmosphere, architecturally stunning and there is so much space to sit and read/enjoy the views. They close at 9pm on weekdays so it’s a really nice place to sit and have some peace. Great selection of books too. And it’s free!

It’s def my favourite place in Finland and maybe in Europe in general 🥺 everybody is welcome here and you don’t need a reason to visit. You could just hang here all day! There’re so many books and resources too. I love it here. It’s such an inclusive space Xx

A very cozy library! The third floor was incredibly calm, perfect for picking up a board game or a book and enjoying some quiet time. There are plenty of reading spots with lovely views. The second floor hosted workshops, and we saw many people creating things, though as tourists we weren’t sure how to join — it seems you need to book in advance. There’s also a quiet room where you can play video games, which requires prior booking.

Oodi Library in Helsinki is truly amazing – it’s so much more than just a library. The atmosphere is modern, welcoming, and inspiring. Printing and other services are very easy to use, with no hassle and at a much cheaper price than elsewhere. The building itself is beautiful, with plenty of space to read, work, or simply relax. Oodi is a cultural hub, a meeting place, and a great example of how a library can serve the whole community.

This is one of the most beautiful libraries I have ever seen. It's hard to tell from the modern architecture that this is a museum, gallery or performing art center. It's definitely an iconic building.

Really stunning architecture. This library is a must go when in Helsinki. We were there on a Sunday and it was not crowded at all. Also the Terrasse was quite empty and you could took nice pictures as well. You don’t have to pay for the entrance, so no need to buy tickets before. From the terrace you have a great view to other national buildings of Helsinki. I would definitely go there again.
