"It may not sound exciting on paper—it’s essentially a smaller, Dutch version of Target—but this famous Netherlands chain has a spot-on, super-affordable range of stationery, homewares and kitchen essentials often produced by fledgling local designers. Prices aren’t quite as cheap as in the chain’s dime store days, but they’re pretty close. The understated pastel plates and cups, and cheerful patterned tea towels are top picks, and you’ll also want to load up on the gourmet snacks, including almonds with white chocolate and green tea. If you can raise yourself from your slumbers, the €2 ($2.33) Hema breakfast (available until 10 a.m.) is a bit of an institution, comprising strong, freshly ground coffee, a croissant and strawberry jam, and an omelette-filled baguette. Or push the boat out with added pancakes (50 cents)." - Clodagh Kinsella
(IM REVIEWING THE CAFETERIA)
The service was GREAT, like actually amazing, the cafeteria staff was really nice and they even complimented me on my accent in English which happens to be my third language, the cashier was a sweet woman that gave me a good vibe and I actually had fun ordering (but on the other hand I would give the actual store 3 stars cuz the employees are really mean NOT TALKING ABOUT CAFETERIA STAFF) but everything else was great!!^^

Decent HEMA location, though not enormous. They sell mostly home goods, but also have some food and drink, clothing, and toys/games. There's a very small amount of DIY stuff.
They accept credit cards and contactless.

Enjoy the lack of queues here. They used to have one. Now you just get stuck behind the one super slow register and watch 10 other people that were behind you get served. How does this actually make for a good shopping experience??

I enjoyed exploring the HEMA store in the vibrant Pijp neighborhood very much. There were many small items that caught my eye as possible souvenirs, including stationary, bed & bath items and colorful small toys. And in the back of the store, a surprisingly good selection of local treats, including fresh-baked croissants and other desserts. There also were many candies and cookies in fancy boxes that I was tempted to buy to bring home to the US. Alas, the one I bought got eaten right away.

Girl with head scarf at the cake counter has a really bad attitude. She is also secretly calling someone the entire time, speaking a foreign language and we at first thought she is cursing at us. Really unpleasant experience, not friendly at all.

Ordered something online almost two weeks ago. I received an email that I still had two days to pick it up. When I arrived there they didn’t have it, I ended up buying the product from the store instead after some back and forth. After which the discount that was initially applied to my online order wasn’t applied here.

I love Hema for its versatility, the kind of stuff it keeps for everyone's need. this one is a smaller outlet but not tiny, it still has all the basic stuff and in fact had some good offers going on. The staff was helpful and assisted in making the final decisions.

Yelp
Yes!! This place was my bread, jam & peanut butter!
I always like to get souvenirs that are usable for everyday life. Like some nice clothes or yummy foods, etc. This place had everything I needed and more. I bought my son some super cute pants and shirts for only 12 euro. He still wears them and they're adorable.
I also found some great candies and nail polishes to take home to my friends and family. Definitely stop here before you head home!
Apparently, a lot of the Hema's have a food vendor on site that sells a very popular (with the locals) sausage. I had one on a food tour and it was pretty yumtastic! But don't forget the mustard.

Yelp
We had high hopes that we would like this store but it just had a small selection of ladies clothing and mostly school supplies for kids. They did have a few hair supplies tho.

Yelp
I absolutely love the HEMA, I could spend forever in here. Whenever I come to Europe this is one of the places I want to go to!
You can pretty much find everything here and lots of fun Dutch treats and such (even in Paris).

Yelp
Amsterdam's equivalent of US' Walmart. There is a little of everything from food, clothes, household items, and bike repair supplies. Good place to pick up toiletries, snacks, and bottle water. Prices are reasonable and there are also sales on various items. For American tourists, Hema does not accept American Express.

Yelp
Stopped by here to buy my bf swimming trucks because he forgot them at home, kind of reminds me of an American Sears/Target with a little of everything from home goods to clothing. (btw it is a chain and there are many Hema's in Amsterdam)

Yelp
All you need for Home at fair prices! And good quality, only can go cheaper in Xenos stores
