Hemingway Restaurant

We visited the restaurant during the restaurant week, so we had a 3 course menu and it was delicious! We chose pheasant soup and grilled aubergine for starters, duck and chicken with gnocchi for main, and dessert was somloi and a decomposed strudel. Food was delicious, service was really nice, and atmosphere was great too, perfect for a date :) There is also the lake, so in spring and summer you can enjoy the food outside.

Hemingway Restaurant in Budapest offers a charming dining experience, especially if you manage to secure a spot on the terrace. The view of Feneketlen Lake creates a serene backdrop, perfect for enjoying a meal in a relaxed atmosphere. The food is decent, with a selection of special dishes to choose from. While portions lean towards the medium size, opting for a full menu—soup, main course, salad, and dessert—is a great way to ensure a satisfying meal. The ambiance, though comfortable, can get a bit noisy, especially when groups of tourists occupy the terrace. Overall, Hemingway Restaurant delivers a picturesque setting, solid food, and a pleasant experience—best enjoyed with careful planning.

Hemmingway is our #1 recommendation for contemporary Hungarian cuisine. It is especially nice when the terrace is open as it looks out to a nice little park with a fountain. But, even when the terrace is closed, the inside has a huge window view to the park. The food is fantastic. I've had duck leg, duck breast, rabbit, chicken in a cheese sauce with gnocchi and other stuff. Every meal was excellent. This is probably our overall favorite restaurant in Hungary, because their dishes have so much wonderful flavors. They somehow manage to improve on traditional Hungarian cuisine, which is already some of the best food in the world.

The foods I chose from the summer menu were OK, strawberry mint soup and dorade fish but the fries were slushy. The atmosphere of the restaurant is gorgeous. I recommend it especially in good weather when the terrace is opened, the whole place becomes like a beachside restaurant but with at pond with a water fountain. The service was friendly and fast. Card is obviously accepted, 13% service fee is added to the bill. Paid parking is available in front of the entrance. Public transports are within few minutes walking.

Nice restaurant, located near a park, greeny atmpshere, various dishes in the offer and good food. Staff is very nice! Almost all the ordered dishes were tasty and well cooked. From the ordered dishes, the baked duck was not quite baked (rather the duck was boiled and then baked). It was not quite what we expected, but all in all it was a good experience at the right price! We will return 😇

Came here as a way to hide from the rain when driving between Vienna and Budapest and it turned out to be an amazing surprise! The food was both visually stunning and delicious!! The staff was also very friendly and helpful. There are several parking spots outside the restaurant and paid parking at a nearby park.

The Sunday brunch is absolutely good for a family. The restaurant sets up a jumping house inside and hires a lady to take care of the kids so that parents could eventually have time to enjoy lunch. The options of food are roughly various. I wouldn’t give 5 stars for the food but 4 stars. However, the environment is really nice and cozy. Worthy to try.
