Hemingway's on the Beach

I can underline that the food is really good and the staff is very friendly. We asked for vegan options and got three very tasty dishes. The view to Ko Taen is really nice. Also during rain season. We can totally recommend a break here when driving by.

Location is far south of Samui, if you are not staying around here it is quite far, the foods are delicious (if you are looking for original thai taste then this is not the place) but the waiting time is too long. Environment very nice, right next to the beach.

Very tasty thai food and very friendly staff. Relaxing atmosphere right at the sea. The papaya salad was delicious! We'll come back to try more dishes.

We went to the restaurant and were first surprised about the prices that were higher then expected (compared to Lamai). But when we got the food we got huge portions of high quality seafood which was the best we had so far on Koh Samui. I loved the Tom Yum and the grilled squid ( Appetizer). Thanks again! I definitely recommend to go there

Great spot for lunch, had a lovely meal. The owner and staff went above and beyond to make us feel truly looked after, as if we were old friends. Genuinely great people who are not just after your money, recommended us some other nice places too. Ended up doing the boat tour to nearby islands, and snorkelled with the fishes which was amazing, highly recommend.

Hemingway’s gave me mixed feelings. It is in a lovely location on the beach, with great views when the tide is in. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the owners seem great too. The premises are well maintained and clean, and the seats are comfortable. Where it starts to not live up to its full potential is with the good and pricing. The Calamari starter was generous and well cooked, but didn’t have any distinct flavors or Thai ‘feeling’ about it. Nice to eat, but forgettable. The Pad Thai (the first one I have ever eaten in Thailand) was OK, but not all it could be. As this is the chefs specialty I was surprised. So we left full, but not satisfied. This restaurant is skirting the middle ground. Very western in its pricing, serving size and taste. A bit Thai with some flavors and style. If you want “Thai Style” cuisine, in a nice place, and you don’t care what it costs. Hemingway’s is great. However if you want “Thai” food, there are better options in town. This gets 4 out of 5 on the Jeff scale because they haven’t quite figured out who they are yet, when they get that sorted, maybe they’ll be a 5.
