The 50 Most Beautiful Places in the U.S.

"For the uninitiated, Indiana is full of surprises. It has the covered bridges and country lanes of Vermont, the sand dunes and lakeshore of Michigan, and fall foliage that could be taken for the Smokies. This box canyon within Hoosier National Forest is a terrific ravine- and waterfall-filled place that you probably wouldn't associate with the heartland." - Anne Olivia Bauso Anne Olivia Bauso Anne Olivia Bauso is a travel writer and hotel expert based in New York City. The trail was relatively easy and quick. Online says leisurely 2 hours but we finished in 1.5 and basically took photo shoots at every stop. There wasn't a waterfall as we haven't had much rain but it was still gorgeous.

What a wonderful trail and experience hidden right outside French Lick. Our family loves to hike and be outside and this one didn’t disappoint. The rock formations are tall, much like on the Kentucky River outside Lexington. Lots of crags and cracks and areas to climb safely for kiddos. Also a few small caves to explore (shallow holes really, but still fun to go “in”). The trail itself is a nice hike as well if you don’t want to climb all over the rocks- but really the rocks and waterfalls and how easily accessible they all are, are what makes this place special. Was easy parking for us, but only about 20 spots total. Have a blast!

We arrived on a July Sunday morning to only 3 cars in the parking lot. We began our hike near the Hemlock Info poster. It was a quick 15 minutes to the waterfall (which was more accuratelt a "drip" fall :) ). The next 30 minutes was along the creek bed, and the final 15 minutes back uphill to the parking lot. It was a very enjoyable hike.

Wow! All I can say is wow! Such a beautiful hiking trail! Full of waterfalls and great rock structures! The road to drive there is a small country back road so be cautious of that! Secondly, there are no trash cans and a car next to us threw their trash on the parking lot then left, leaving their trash. Other than that, we absolutely loved this hiking trail! Took our dogs and loved every minute of it! The walk took us about 45min.

Very pretty hiking trail no one was there when I was, as it is in the middle of nowhere. The falls were not active but that's ok the hanging rock shelves were nice. The only reason I took a star off is because the road out there is so poorly maintained. It's a mile of gravel hills and potholes.

Beautiful less than 2 mile walk. Peaceful with the sound of rushing water for most of the walk. Several waterfalls of varying sizes. Can be challenging. Not accessible at all.

I was not aware of a place like this so close to Evansville. Great day drive destination. The water level is low now, so the falls are a trickle. They'd be awesome to see with more water. It was still fun to explore the creek bottoms and deeper pools with small fish in them. The water that was there is very clean. Grounds are maintained. You can easily burn a half day here. I would imagine the trail gets hard to follow when the leaves fall.

This was a great loop trail with a beautiful waterfall and creek. If it's been raining, the creek will be over the path in places so make sure you have waterproof shoes on. It's not deep, but you won't want to cross it in regular gym shoes! Also, if you're physically able, take the extra .2 trail that leads up to an incredible waterfall. Standing behind it was awe inspiring! There are stairs built into the climb to get to the second waterfall that aren't too bad, but it could be a challenge for anyone with some mobility issues.
