☄️ Henbury Meteorites Conservation Reserve might sound dramatic, but the reality feels more like a gentle bump in the landscape than a jaw-dropping crater. If you’re expecting something on the scale of Wolf Creek Crater, this one might leave you scratching your head. It’s a quick stop for the checklist, but not much more—unless you’re deeply into meteorite history or desert solitude.

Terrible for tents! This campground has decent sheltered picnic benches, a serviceable toilet (no shower, no basin), but the pitches are just hard packed dirt and gravel. We expected to be able to camp in our tent, but the ground was too hard for tent pegs and the rocky surface was incredibly uncomfortable. The gravel road to the site was far more pleasant than most gravel/unsealed roads we’ve used.

It’s always great to know a story of meteorite. The site is quite interesting and the info good enough.

Amazing camping. Very calm. There is a small box to pay the camping. There is one toilet. There is a table and a small roof. You can do a fire.

Nice open campsite if y out are looking for somewhere to stay the night. It’s only a short walk around the craters but still really interesting.

No less than 14 craters make up the Henbury Meteorites Conservation Reserve in Australia's Northern Territory. They are believed to have been formed when a fragmented meteorite hit the Earth's surface. The largest crater (thought to be a coalescence of two smaller craters) is 217 m (733 ft) long, 111 m (366 ft) wide, and 15 m (50 ft) deep.

This was great for the kids and us to explore and learn. It makes for a really good little walk/ hike too. You’re able to camp close by allowing fires and has toilets and picnic tables. No dogs allowed and there is no water. This is in Minisode 3 of our central Australia YT series. - @m5_adventures
