We recently stayed at Henderson Beach Resort and had a fantastic experience overall. While the price was a bit on the higher side, we felt it was worth it for the quality and comfort we received. The beach was absolutely beautiful—clean, peaceful, and perfect for relaxing or taking long walks. One of the biggest highlights for us was how pet-friendly the resort is. Traveling with our furry companions can be a challenge, but Henderson made it so easy and welcoming. It’s a huge plus for pet owners! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful from check-in to check-out. The service throughout our stay was consistently excellent, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We also loved the pool area—there are three different pools to choose from, which helps avoid crowding and adds variety. The only downside was the food—it was definitely overpriced for what it was. While convenient, we ended up eating off-site more often than not. All in all, if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway with great service, pet-friendly amenities, and beautiful beach access, Henderson Beach Resort is a great choice. Just budget a little extra for meals or explore local dining options nearby!

We came to the resort for a wedding. We loved that everything was done in one location. Each of the wedding related events were great. |Our only complaint is staffing. We felt there was understaffing at the pool, beach, and in the Horizons bar. There could be much higher revenue if there was staff to take orders and deliver drinks. We did have one employee that went out of her way to deliver the best service. She was working at the wedding on Saturday night and in the Horozons bar the next day. She remembered us and was friendly and efficient. Her name is Sonya. She was truly the best person we came in contact with over the weekend. 10 out of 10! Thanks!

We also wanted to give a big shoutout to Domjon at the beach cabanas! During our stay at Henderson Beach Resort the week of June 16th, we saw him out there multiple days, and he was always incredibly kind, professional, and attentive. He helped get our beach chairs set up, made sure we had everything we needed, and checked in on us with such a friendly attitude. His great service and positive energy really added to our experience. We truly appreciated him!|And thanks again Sebastian! Best service ever!||Also a shout out to the bartenders RRon and Luis! You made our stay memorable and you provided nice service and it was fun! Thank you||Dexter from the outside beach bar…he was the best!Funny and made our days on the beach funner! Good guy! Hatie is so so so sweet. ||We had such a great stay!

Beautiful resort with the Henderson State Park butting up to the property! Picturesque! 🤩 Funny thing is we were originally trying to book our vacation stay at the Henderson INN and not at the resort! It all worked out but I agree with the staff. They need to change the name of one of the Henderson establishments to stop the confusion. The staff was wonderful at both. Our room at the resort was nice, the pools and outdoor bars. There wa a wedding going on the day we checked in! Beautiful place for a wedding venue out in the courtyard and terrace. We enjoyed the roof top bar overlooking the park while having a drink to watch the sun set or to enjoy the patio lights at night . The only place we dined at on site was at the Henderson INN called The Beachwalk Cafe! The food and service were outstanding! Best places to eat outside of the property in that area are Cafe Destin, The Ruby Slipper, Pazzo Italiano, The Edge out over on the water in one of the main marinas. They had live music and you can watch the boats go by! Our Concierge Susan Pierce at the resort was so nice and so very helpful! She was the best! We had a wonderful stay & would gladly book next time with the older property on the water to try that out!

My family and I stayed at this resort which we got a great deal on. Everything was going smooth until we called the room service for some towels. The first time we called they said they would send someone shortly. About 2 hours later we called again. Still no one came. Safe to say if they don’t have the courtesy to give their guests some towels after a long day at the beach then they don’t appreciate our business. :(

Our stay at Henderson Beach Resort was nothing short of amazing! The entire property is immaculate—everything from the rooms to the common areas was spotless and beautifully maintained. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, always friendly and ready to help with anything we needed. You can really tell they take pride in their service. The food was also a highlight—every meal we had was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether it was breakfast, dinner, or poolside snacks, the quality was consistent and impressive. Highly recommend this resort if you’re looking for a relaxing, luxurious, and well-cared-for getaway. We can’t wait to come back!

What isn’t there to rave about? This was our first time staying here and it will be a yearly event moving forward. John, the GM, not only answered our questions personally, but also gave my wife and I a small welcome anniversary surprise upon arrival and even something for my toddler. He assured us of all our concerns and did not exaggerate that this is a great place to relax and be with the family. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful, and the guests have all been kind and cheerful. As a biracial couple we have never felt more welcome by staff and guests. We have stayed all over in Vegas and Miami and Susan is the best concierge of the all! She was knowledgeable and offered great recommendations that actually catered to what I was asking, and not just read off of a list of nearby attractions. The location is perfect, right near groceries, shopping, entertainment, and the beach was packed but didn’t feel overcrowded.

Pretty nice hotel . The service in the rooms is not great . I found a water bottle 🍶 open, and probably the previous people drink from . It's hard to speak with the ladies who's cleaning because they don't speak English. No shampoo and body wash in the shower. The room is nice and spacious. In the rest , everybody was nice . We didn't serve breakfast at the hotel, so we don't know how's the food is. The beach is like 5 to 7 minutes away . Valet parking.

Yelp
I have no words to describe my time at The Henderson. It is undoubtedly a resort of unparalleled quality, with beautiful spaces and first-class attention. The restaurant's service is high quality, with a really good efficiency and a weekly menu that deserves the best rating, in addition to having indoor and outdoor spaces to enjoy. The pool area is beautiful and perfectly maintained like the rest of the green areas of the resort. The staff is really excellent and they are dedicated to making your stay the best, everyone from the management to the cleaning team. Undoubtedly one of the destinations that I would like to visit as many times as possible.

Yelp
Had a wonderful stay at this beach resort. It is very family-friendly and walking distance from the beautiful beaches of Destin. It's not right on the beach, but I think there's another portion that is right on the beach. They had a very large pool area with a restaurant and bar outside located by the pool. Is also surrounded by a lazy river. The service was very good while we were here. We had a plated at steak and lobster dinner and it was absolutely delicious food. The rooms are not really my style because it is more of an old-fashioned look and I prefer the modern look. They had live entertainment at the upstairs bar. The property was well maintained and clean. They have an on site spa and multiple restaurants. Also they had crafts and lots of family friendly activities.I recommend and would definitely return.

Yelp
Our 3 bedroom condo was absolutely beautiful. We were in 5101 which is the last building in the back of the property. It has a partial gulf view from the balcony with a view over Henderson State Park. I wish I had taken pictures of the condo but rest assured it was modern, clean, and comfortable. No updating needed. That's the good. Now, the not so good. Check-in is 4p. Pretty standard. We were running early so called a little after Noon and asked if we could check-in at 2p. We were told that they couldn't promise anything but our unit was currently being cleaned so it shouldn't be a problem. We went to the grocery store - bought cold items - arrived at 2p and were told, no can do. We were given cards to access amenities but the direction from the front desk REALLY lacked details. We ended up hanging at a nearby restaurant until 4p. We are then told it's $40-somethjng a night to park yourself at the resort but our unit does not have covered, assigned parking like all the other units so we could just find an open spot in the back of the lot. No direction given on where our unit was but we just drove until we found it. We unpack the first of several loads, get to the door. None of the five keys work. Back to reception for the 3rd time. It was frustrating to say the least. Especially after a 12 hour drive. Our unit was close to the banging, daily construction as was the pool by our condo. Oddly the pool had 3 gates but the two closest to us were padlock which required us to walk all the way around to enter. The pool is big. Never too crowded. There is a lazy river but let's just say it is VERY lazy. Like floating a river when it's been a dry year so the river requires more walking than floating. Well, you don't have to walk but you move, you might need to paddle. Tubes are provided by the hotel!! The private beach for guests is crowded. You have to pay for chairs and an umbrella and if you can't book first row and don't show-up at 8am, be prepared to be rows and rows back. We ordered room service on night. The food was less than average. Want to close with a positive. Outside of check-in, everyone was so kind, friendly and attentive. Service was never an issue. It was impeccable, really.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here starting on Monday (Labor Day) and left Friday. PERFECT TIME TO STAY! The resort is beautiful, the staff was amazing, we could check in a couple of hours early, and our room was very comfortable and well-decorated. The food was excellent, whether from Primrose or grabbing a bite at the pool. My only gripes were to have the pool music a little louder at the adult pool and to keep the warm water flowing into the adult pool.

Cara E.

Yelp
The Henderson Beach Resort is so nice! I stayed there for a week for a work retreat, and had a wonderful experience. The staff was wonderful, and all of our food was great. The rooms were so nice, and the pools were amazing! Access to the beach is great too. I definitely would stay here again and recommend it!

Yelp
This place was a southern paradise. Definitely wonderful accommodations. We will for sure be back. Let's start with our check-in that was not smooth and to no fault of the hotels. Initially, my husband and I booked this trip through Southwest. For whatever reason, Southwest did not confirm with the hotel our stay, despite sending us an email. When we showed up, they essentially told us they did not have our booking. My husband went back-and-forth with the hotel and Southwest for almost an hour. The manager behind the counter was super helpful and I could tell that she felt bad. My husband asked Southwest to just cancel and we would book directly with the hotel as we were tired of being on the phone and ready to put down our bags and get to our vacation. Eventually, it all got worked out, however, I was impressed with the patience and hospitality, from the young lady behind the counter. Once we got our bags up to our room, we changed immediately into our bathing suits and headed to the pool. Not before we visited the bar and had four drinks between the two of us :-) the pool was warm, inviting and had vacation vibes everywhere. It was beautiful. This place was crawling with employees ready to help and answer any questions that we had. We hung out at the pool quite a bit, we also enjoyed the private access to the beach. I would recommend this place as it's accommodations are 4+ star worthy. The hotel staff was extremely helpful knowledgeable and happy to accommodate any request we made. I would definitely recommend this place! This coming from someone who has been to five different resorts, three of which were are all inclusive and overseas.

Yelp
We've visited many properties in this class on business, and I admit to reading reviews beforehand and having somewhat-lowered expectations. Well, other Yelpers aside, I don't have enough good things to say about the Henderson (note -- this was a winter visit, so can't comment on how the summer rush looks). Staff was consistently as good or better as any we've experienced, and as friendly as they come. The property was attractive and well-maintained, and any issues were dealt with promptly (we had an issue with our room A/C, and an excellent maintenance man had it fixed in no time). If there was any weak spot -- some of the onsite food was just...fine. All good, but maybe a little inconsistency in the product. That said, a simple box lunch we had prepared for one day was excellent -- way over the bar. The Henderson gets high marks from us -- definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
We've been coming here once or twice a year since it opened. It's our go to beach resort. Amazing amenities, staff and quiet private beach. Quieter than the full 30A experience.

Jeff S.

Yelp
We stayed at the Henderson for a week in June. It is a beautiful resort and a short walk to their private beach. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. We had a beautiful view of the resort and the ocean. The staff is very professional and courteous. Having an adult pool was very enjoyable. The restaurants are all top notch, especially Primrose. The rooftop bar was excellent and facilitated a beautiful view of the sunset. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend the Henderson to any visitors in the Destin area

Yelp
ATTENTION LOCALS!!!! Such an incredible experience. We did a stay-cation and had a fabulous time. The roof top bar has delicious drips with an incredible view. Don't miss the spa! Best deep tissue massage!

Yelp
We came to talk through some catering items for a company leadership conference while also celebrating my husband's birthday. We had a gulf view room for two nights and it was beautiful! The tub was amazing and we got Prosecco delivered with macaroons the first night. We felt like royalty! My husband is a bourbon fanatic, so we went to the bar downstairs and Hadley was an absolute delight He tried several that she recommended and loved them all. I then told her that I've always wanted to try a dirty martini, so she made me one and it was wonderful. We were then given a desert for my husbands birthday (butter cake with fresh berries), and it was to die for We thought about taking a night dip in the hot tub, but it was a bit chilly out, so we passed but it was very tempting. The first night, we had a few drinks and an early dinner, so we ordered the wings and a pizza at the bar and it was delicious. Wings were crispy and pizza was wood fired with a crispy crust so not too filling. Ambience was family oriented, but elegant. The large pool and lazy River was beautiful and the larger pool by the back entrance was heated with families having fun together We had an amazing time and look forward to our next stay

Silas R.

Yelp
Nice place...awesome awesome Spa services!!! Wow...experiential shower, eucalyptus steam room, whirlpool, and an awesome Swedish massage. Heated pools, lazy river and beach access all great!! The only thing that irked me was $6.50 for a freaking cup of black coffee at Sprinkles downstairs...seriously?

Yelp
Want to pay a 5 star price with a 3 star experience? This is the place for you! We are a nice family from Chicago trying to enjoy our spring break with our 6 year old and 2 year old. We are paying $1k a night. Despite the fact the service is abysmal (might not even be the accurate description. They are extremely understaffed. The kindest staff, yet clearly overwhelmed. No concierge. Wait staff and bartenders can barely keep up. You wait 30 minutes for anything), any "activities" listed on their website aren't ACTUALLY available. Pool bar area? Opens when it decides! The kids activity center? No one has even heard of it (btw- we paid $70 and made reservations and literally no one was there when we arrived). Don't take what you read online for this resort at face value. One might understand our frustration as it is. Well wait. The zinger comes!!!! We walk casually down at 6pm to get dinner. There are no reservations or any availability for my family to eat for at least 2 hours. I ask to speak with the manager. I am ungraciously greeted by "Brad Johnson" who hurriedly tells me "to figure it out" and "it's first come first serve in some and reservations in the others" WHAT? Not even an "I'm so sorry. We have a lot of guests who frequent our establishment." Give me any excuse or greet me with some compassion. Instead? I was met with an eye roll and an attitude. Thank you for the incredible service for the $1k a night my family and I are paying. To top it off, when I say I look forward to writing my review? BRAD JOHNSON responds callously "can't wait to read it". If that didn't define this as a 3 star resort- I don't know what did :)

Karen M.

Yelp
Overall, this was a great place and my kids agreed that it has been one of our favorites. Pros - the service. Everyone was so professional and quick to help you. Very similar to other 5 star service hotels we've been to. Room service was great, we were able to get food or drinks anywhere. Loved the service by the pool and on the beach. Loved having breakfast on the balcony with a view of the crystal clear water! Cons - none we can think of, loved it all.

anna d.

Yelp
We ve been to this resort several times in the past and could not complain. Unfortunate it's not the same place, going down the hill. The adult pool was usually reason why we stayed at this place so we can relax was overtaken by screening kids they were even sitting in jacuzzi. Common 4 y old ? The receptionist lied to us and the servers were eating meal during their shift when serving customers. Unfortunately it's not luxury resort anymore.

Matt S.

Yelp
This is arguably the most beautiful resort property in Destin. Upon check in, we were upgraded to a stunning suite thanks to AMEX Travel. Absolutely loved the room, and the bed and bowls for our dog was a great touch. We chose this hotel specifically because it is dog friendly. Pools were gorgeous, but the weather was awful through the entire length of our stay so we didn't spend much time outside. Would have still loved the stay if it weren't for the horrible food and service. Our first morning, we ate breakfast at the Primrose Restaurant. My chicken and waffles was great, although my girlfriend found her biscuits and gravy to be tasteless as well as a very small portion for the price. We were expecting a buffet...turns out there was one the entire time, it just isn't listed anywhere on the menu and our hostess and server didn't tell us about it. Our frustration began that night. Our dog hopped on the bed and got our sheets dirty, so I called down to housekeeping around 6pm and asked for another set for me to put on. Gave up after an hour of waiting and walked down to the beach, of course while at the beach I receive a voicemail from housekeeping that someone tried to deliver the sheets but they couldn't enter our room because of our dog. Quickly returned to the room and let housekeeping know we were back...nothing. Finally around 9pm I went down to the front desk and asked what was going on, another half hour later we FINALLY got a pair of sheets. It took three and a half hours to get a staff member to simply grab a pair of bed sheets and bring them to our room...absolutely absurd. The same night, we decided to try the room service for dinner. We were quoted an hour wait time for food, which is pretty typical of my experience with ordering room service at any hotel. The food arrived a half hour late...the Asian cauliflower appetizer was complete mush, and accompanying rice truthfully tasted like rubber and was simply inedible. Chicken tenders did not come with the listed sauce, and they were pretty dry and tasteless. BBQ chicken pizza was bearable. More wasted money. The next morning we tried the breakfast buffet, big mistake. French toast was hard as a rock, and dry. Frittata was very soggy and tasteless, wouldn't have been quite as gross if it wasn't so soggy but wow was it nasty. "Yukon potato" pancakes were barely lukewarm and completely tasteless. Pastries were low quality pre-packaged products, Greek yogurt was warm and didn't taste good at all, and the charcuterie board was a good attempt at trying to be high end but it was just out of place and had weird portions. Mimosas- I love a generous alcohol to OJ ratio...but this was a bit much. Barely enough OJ to give it a colored tint. Again, a hard pour is great but it was just overkill, especially with such cheap tasting and unpleasant Prosecco. After feeling like chumps for spending a single dime on that awful buffet, we went to Sprinkles Cafe to try to salvage some semblance of a halfway decent breakfast experience. There was one poor guy working behind the counter, clearly overworked and under staffed. The frustrated look on the faces of all the people waiting in line to be served told me to simply turn around and walk away. The great room was the only positive part of this experience. Horrible service and food at places like this are the reason why corporate chains are beating out smaller businesses...and rightfully so. This would not have happened at a Hyatt, Hilton, or Marriott. I will go with one of the big chains from now on. Looking at my final bill here at the Henderson, I felt like a fool who had been played by this place. I would not recommend it to anyone, unless you want to pay fine resort money for food and service that could be beaten by your average motel.

Jessica D.

Yelp
The Rooftop bar is fabulous and such an amazing staff. Hollie and Colleen couldn't have been any more hospitable!!! Our new favorite place in Destin.

Greg M.

Yelp
Called and asked for the best room available. Confirmed and credit card was taken. Initially, I was given pool and resort passes. Then suddenly, no rooms were available. Upon complaining about the $1,200 charge and mysteriously losing the reservation, the spa manager, John Vaneron, threatened to call security (I was not yelling, he simply didn't like the inconvenience of explaining or trying to help)--why the massage guy was running the front desk is another issue I can't explain, but an incredibly poor management choice. If John works in hospitality, then I am Jiminy Cricket in the flesh. Having small children waiting, I was one of many having similar issues. Everything was someone else's fault. What a joke... misleading, bizarrely arrogant, customer-last, and by far the worst experience I have had at any "nice" resort. The staff seemingly enjoyed it, especially the spa guy who seems to feel empowered by a resort blazer. At one point they were laughing in a back room together. An absolute joke of an establishment. Could get better service at the Red Roof Inn. As I write this review, several groups are experiencing the exact same treatment. In fact, 3 couples have come to offer their condolences and share their own frustrations as I am leaving.

Aaron G.

Yelp
This resort was fantastic. Did the self parking and it wasn't too bad. Reception area was big and open, it looked out onto a deck that looks out onto the state park. This resort takes advantage of being next to a state park with the open views, I don't blame them! Room was bigger than I thought it would be, very upscale, but beachy vibe. Heated pools were fantastic and really enjoyed the adult pool. Quiet, warm, padded lounge chairs, nice large hot tub and beautiful views. Beach access was easy and we enjoyed the walks on the powder white sand and clear emerald waters. Overall, we will be back. Wish it wasn't so expensive, but I guess it keeps the rift raff away.

Kristy B.

Yelp
What a Great place, will definitely be back. This place is so clean, staff was always super friendly, housekeeping cleaned up rooms daily if you wanted, we didn't leave the resort much, enjoyed the food & drinks, slightly pricey, but very good.

Lisa P.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at this resort for a night back in February. The resort itself was nice enough - the food at the restaurant was good despite the service lacking (no body greeting anyone, we had to ask after a few minutes if we should seat ourselves, the two on staff spent the majority of time talking behind the bar) and the grounds are nice. With that being said, I will never, ever suggest or recommend that anyone stay here. Upon check out, we had charges on our bill that shouldn't have been there. When I asked for clarification, I was told that the charges were for room service. I advised that neither my husband or I ever ordered room service - we had a meal at the restaurant that was and should have been charged to our room, but we ate dinner outside of the hotel. At no point did we order room service via phone, at the front desk, etc. The man at the front desk spent about 15-20 minutes looking for a copy of the room service bill/receipt. When one could not be found, he took my contact information and advised he would reach out, as there was no trace of what may or may not have been ordered. It has been 3 months and we still have not been refunded or even advised on what this charge was for. I have emailed twice and called and have not received a single response. I would very, very much recommend staying elsewhere, as this hotel seems to have no problem charging its guests at the card on file for services not requested/provided and makes no effort to correct the mistake once it's addressed. I would hope that this isn't common practice, but the lack of response on their end when they could not provide a receipt or breakdown of what that charge was for leads me to believe that this is a common practice for them to make additional revenue while hoping guests will forget and the additional charge then gets pocketed by the hotel. In my opinion, this is a sleazy and unprofessional business practice and I would highly recommend taking your business (and your credit card) elsewhere to avoid fraudulent and unverified charges.

B R.

Yelp
The staff were all extremely nice - everyone you walk by says hi. Main pool very pretty. Beach is beautiful and pristine. Room extremely nice. My complaints were all minor but include: 1) hot tub jets were not working 2) only 1 elevator was working 3) would have been nice if the pool heater was on 4) it was dark at night entering the beach - I think the lights were not working 5) the newest pool with lazy river is not nearly as pretty as the main pool. The main one has a river too and strongly preferred it None of the complaints were major but since I had 5 of them I only gave 4 stars vs 5. But it is a lovely hotel that I would recommend and stay again.

Lili S.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming to the Henderson Resort for years. We have always stayed in a loft, and this visit was no exception. The rooms were clean and well furnished with many cooking utensils in the kitchen, washer and dryer, and fun bunk beds. So why the three stars, you ask? When I go to a resort, I want to participate in as many activities as possible. The Henderson is in the perfect location: it is right next to their private beach equipped with paddleboards, kayaks, jet skis, and chairs with umbrellas. The resort also offers bicycles and lawn games. All of this is good and fun. I will admit I was able to enjoy most of these things, but the main issue was the activity hours. There were inconsistencies on the pamphlet they gave us versus the hours we were told by staff. The beach attendants and gift shop cashier constantly gave us different operating hours for their services, which was very frustrating when we planned on an activity only to arrive and be told they had closed or were already putting items away. On a humorous note, we requested towels on Thursday and Housekeeping called the following Wednesday, saying they received an email about our request and asked if we still wanted towels! I recommend Cissy's cafe be open on Sundays and Mondays, especially considering Sunday is a very big check in/out day. Overall, it would be preferable to have a dependable resort activity schedule.

Amber B.

Yelp
Had such a great time vacationing here. The views and service were excellent. Valet were on time and very helpful. We really enjoyed the private access to the beach. The food & drinks by the pool were great as well. We were told that all the rooms were booked but it didn't feel like it was overcrowded or anything. Even the kids that were there weren't annoying. We'd definitely go back. A little pricey, but worth it. Very peaceful

Rob S.

Yelp
We just returned from a 5-night stay. It is located close to a very nice beach. I say "close to" because you have to exit the resort grounds and walk about a block or so to another area, then access the beach via a walkway. Most beach resorts tend to have immediate access from the main building(s). The facility is 4- or 5-star with regard to luxury. It is clean, modern, and well maintained. There is a family pool that has with the lazy river feature. We used the adult pool that has nice loungers, umbrellas, and abundant, nice pool towels. There is no service at the pool or beach. We did not use the loungers at the beach. It is $45 or $55/day to rent two chairs and an umbrella and the water was cold. We had a standard room that was fine. It has a small balcony with a chaise for one person. Our room looked at the nature preserve and had some ocean view. I forgot to take any photos.

Joseph E.

Yelp
Amazing building! On site shopping was great! Beach loungers are a MUST! Delicious food and great service on property as well as the rooftop bar! Will DEFINITELY be returning!

Joy R.

Yelp
While in Destin, check out this amazing spot for your relaxation needs. I am in town with girlfriends celebrating my birthday. We set aside one day to come and have spa services. I was not disappointed. We did the salt room which really helped with my allergies. Then we did the intuitive wellness service which was pretty cool. I loved that it was so filled with sensory experiences. But hands down my favorite service was the mud wrap with Soy! OMG! I have never had one and this will not be my last one. My skin feels absolutely amazing! Soy was super kind and did an amazing massage after my wrap.

Shelley M.

Yelp
Nice hotel. Beautiful exterior and interior. Pool is nice with lazy river. Also they do have an adult only pool. I didn't get to try either due to arriving late and bad weather. Excellent customer service throughout hotel.

Autumn S.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel amazing stay. The bed was so comfortable and the pillows are amazing. The staff was super friendly even though only one restaurant was open it was delicious. Definitely worth the money! We will be back.

Judy L.

Yelp
April at Horizons bar was awesome! Great drinks.. was great with sushi order from Primrose and was super helpful and inviting! Great experience and enjoyed our time here. Highly recommend!

Dawn C.

Yelp
We loved staying at the Henderson!! Amazing time ! We stayed 8 nights . Loved the adult pool , coffee in the morning, food also the Henderson beach hotel restaurant was amazing for dinner. We will be back- family friendly! I would say the only thing they could improve is better appetizers in the rooftop bar but that's it.

Yelp
The pictures on the site don't do this place justice. It is beautiful. It has a private beach access, spa and restaurant on the property. Three pools one specifically for adults. The rooms are beautiful and the staff is wonderful. They give you a glass of champagne upon arrival. The resort is in walking or driving distance of everything. The only downside is paying either $25 dollars a night for self parking or $45 a night for valet service. Both lots are literally on the property and should be free amenities. That's why I rated it a four That's my only complaint otherwise I would recommend staying here. It's quiet and clean. I hope this helps you decide on where to sleep in Destin.

Yelp
I love everything this hotel is trying to be - the grand old beach resort hotel. Pros - There is a lot to love with the beautifully appointed rooms, lovely common areas, great kids pool with water feature. We enjoyed using the kayaks (included in the daily resort fee). Really convenient to have a refrigerator to store a bottle of wine, snacks for the kiddos, etc. You do have to walk off the property to access the beach, but it's close and beautiful and this wasn't a big deal to us. The staff was unfailingly pleasant and they always more masks. The mask policy for guests in the elevators and hallways was however observed only about half the time. Cons - There is also a lot not quite right for the value prop they're going for. We stayed in the Spa room - no yoga wellness pack as advertised, the "view of the piazza" is a fully obstructed view - you are staring out directly into a building. I always tip the housekeeping staff daily, yet here we didn't get the daily water we were promised. The seats on the bikes we used one day (part of your daily resort fee) broke, making it very difficult to ride them back. So overall, this would not be a place we would return to or recommend to others. At this price point you can find better service and value elsewhere.

Yelp
This place is an overrated convention hotel with the feel of a hotel that should be Ailey for conventioneers-upon arrival I noticed two glasses sitting on a console by the elevators -they remained there throughout the entire evening/no staff picked them up-staff was courteous but didn't go out of their way to enhance any welcome feel- Bar at poolside was for both pools and was located in the kiddie pool area -so had waitress tell us she was getting off and that could serve us =wade thru a sea of kids to go get a cocktail Overpriced and I would go to a holiday inn next time

Yelp
We are at the resort as I write. Wonderfully, we have been here at least once a year since it opened. It breaks my heart to see this decline happen so rapidly. Under the new ownership our greeting at the front desk was lack luster to the point of being uncomfortable. No longer is there that very particular feeling of having just entered a luxury resort. Clipped and apparently annoyed to have to deal with us, "Barbara's first word to us was, "I.D." We arrived at 1:30 yesterday afternoon and waited on the Veranda for a another in our party to arrive. The dirty glasses we saw on the center table were still sitting out there at 10:00 this morning. I certainly didn't bother mentioning at the receptionist desk. Stopped in Horizons for drinks. Had to ask for cocktail napkins for our drinks. When they came they were such poor quality and undersized we would not use them in our own home. The waitress said she only had one packet of the requested Splenda left for our iced tea but plopped down and fistful of pink and blues. Might she have stepped over to Horizons for a couple more?Unfathomable. Later in the evening we returned for desserts. Waited over 45 minutes for pre-made dessert then had to walk to the bar and actually ask for our tab as the wait staff was back there laughing and pouring over their phones. This afternoon we return from the beach at 3:30 and our rooms was untouched...no fresh towels, etc.. Called the front desk. Barbara. Gawd. No apologies or explanations. Off and just very odd. Other things. Believe me it is painful to write this. THIS WAS MY FAVORITE PLACE ON EARTH. Higher rates than ever...fine. Less wonderfullness and basic ambiance and cheaper appointments ...not fine. Hate it.

Yelp
We had an incredible time! They were at full capacity but it didn't feel crowded. Views were great, food was great, service was great, pools were great, and the beach was great! The only thing that would have made it an unbeatable vacation was if the beds were less firm. We are talking mattresses like a rock if you are used to a pillow top or a soft tempur-pedic mattress. I would recommend the resort either adjust to hybrid mattresses or somehow allow guests to request memory foam toppers.

Yelp
I have been to the absolute finest spas all around the Country from Saint Regis in Aspen to Camelback in Arizona. Henderson Beach resort and spa was clearly hands-down my favorite yet. Every single component of my experience was a 10 out of 10. From the softness of the linens to the volume of the music to the ice wand in the steam shower to the attendance attitude to the way that the robe and sandals fit just everything with a perfect ten! Most importantly the massage was the best I've ever had - spectacular massage and treatments!! I had a friend that went with me who had the same exact experience on the men side in addition to his massage being the best he ever had as well and again we are very seasoned traveler's and spa goers. I actually live right down the street and will be back ASAP but if you're just visiting this is a must do in Destin!

Yelp
We get to know about this place as we were looking for salamander spa, which is one of the best spa/massage in the area. As we pulled into valet parking, the person mentioned about happy hour in the horizon restaurant, so we came down the next day to try. During happy hour, horizon has get one get another one free for beer and flatbread. They also have live music that I love so much and the service of this hotel resort and restaurant is top notch, in the same caliber like Ritz Carlton. We love the ambience for sure. My wife and I ordered light draft beer... they have great selection. I haven't seen my wife enjoying her beer this much. Draft beer is always taste better.

Yelp
We stayed 5 nights, the checkin process was good. When a mistake was made and we were given a key to an already occupied room, we were upgraded to a partial ocean view room, which was a nice thing for them to do. Horizons is their bar area, we had a drink and ate a sandwich or appetizer every day. Bob made an outstanding cosmo and was friendly to chat with. The Turkey club was fantastic - generous size and we split it. The burger was also very good, however, it was cooked more medium/well vs. the medium we ordered. There was no pink at all, but the flavor was very good. We also tried the cauliflower appetizer. It is pricey, however, delicious. It has an Asian sauce over the florets and served over rice. Nicolas was also a very attentive bartender and it was his recommendation to try these - we are sure glad he did! The gym was great - 2 rooms with the basics anyone would need while trying to keep in shape while on vacation. Cardio, free weights and nautilus type equipment. They also had a fruit bowl, cold water and a little fridge with chilled towels. Nice touch! Awesome they have an adults pool, where they offer fruited water but there is also a pool menu you can order off of, including alcohol. Their policy of closing the pool when lightning is seen is completely understandable. They do seem a bit over cautious as they won't reopen up the pool until 30 minutes after the entire storm has passed. There are plenty of towels, we did need 3 or 4 each to cover the entire chair and also use one to make a "pillow". Our room was just OK. For what is charged, the Henderson needs to up their game. The room has an odd design when you try to open the door. You have to awkwardly step in and to the side to enter as the entryway is more narrow than it should be and you have to scotch around the closet handles. The walls are paper thin. Like rice paper thin. We heard the tv from our neighbors the first 2 nights and once they checked out, we heard music and conversation from the next guests. I often heard the neighbor's shower and toilet flush during our stay. We had a balcony with a little couch, which was nice. However, on each side is your neighbor's balcony and there is absolutely no privacy. When we checked in, one neighbor was enjoying a cigar, then later, the other neighbor was outside having a private phone conversation. I felt I was sitting with them from my own balcony. The bed was super comfy, so points for that. Housekeeping service is an area the Henderson really needs to focus on. They have an in room espresso machine and they supply 6 pods. Ours had 4 decaf and 2 with caffeine. The next day we moved the decaf ones aside and drank the 2 with caffeine. When the room was replenished we got even more decaf. OK, so someone wasn't really paying attention, so the next day I left a note asking for more caffeine ones, no need to keep stockpiling up the decaf. Twice we had to call to ask them come to refresh and clean the room. Most days we were gone 2/3 of day, and we often saw housekeeping in the hall so we would make a point of letting them know our room needed servicing, however, when we returned later that day, the room had not been touched. One day we came back to see about half dozen housekeeping employees outside our door, along with a cart. Apparently the manager decided to hold a meeting right there in the hall. You would never see this happening at a Four Seasons. If you want to charge Four Season prices you need to hire folks who understand it is all about a consistent, high quality experience. Not holding housekeeping meetings in the hall. The bathroom was not vented properly. I'll just leave it at that. Valet is pricey - $25 a day. The resort fee of $29 is also annoying as it does not include beach chairs or an umbrella. I'd prefer to stay at a hotel who just gives me the rate that covers this stuff, as these types of "fees" always make me feel nickel and dimed. We were always offered water while we waited for our car to be brought up by valet, and Meredith was always energetic and friendly. In summary, we felt like the staff were all super nice but lacking in training.

Yelp
Beautiful property Some people who work on the property would benefit from being taught service and hospitality. Mostly the restaurant staff because check in staff was quite nice. I gave it an average of my experience with the staff and how beautiful the property really is. I am quite disappointed with the level of service mostly from the restaurant staff. We drove from miami and wanted to eat with the family at the restaurant - 17 were eating - we wanted to add two chairs and they said that everything was reserved (yet we were the only people in the restaurant) lol. I sat outside the restaurant for 45 min waiting with my son for my family to finish eating - maybe 10 people came in. Apparently even the extra chairs were reserved . Disappointed might not cover it. As always large family tons of money spent on vacation. Tons of rooms, tons of food. Not good service. I hate writing bad reviews. I try to recommend only the places that I love. Unfortunately this place I need to mention For 3 specific reasons: 1- it's expensive and considered a 5 star hotel (service should be there) 2- we drove 10 hours from Miami and could not be served a meal when we arrived (we were tired, hungry and just wanted to enjoy time with family. 3- its such a beautiful place, and such a beautiful property it's a terrible waste. I had expected to stay for a few days but we ended up checking out next day. Disappointed. What a waste. (This experience was about 2 months ago.) we ended up renting a 8 bedroom beachfront home about a mile away with rooftop pool and quite a few amenities for about 10 days.

Yelp
Maybe my expectations were too high, but based on the rates I really expected a high level of service and experience at this hotel. These expectations were not met. For starters, the beach is a walk across the street from the resort, which is fine, but not really what I expected. After you walk to the beach, you will find that the Henderson has a very thin private beach. On that thin beach, there are hundreds of chairs squeezed together like sardines. Which BTW, they will charge you $45-$60 a day to rent. I would find that charge acceptable if you were staying at a no frills hotel, but when you are paying $500+ a night plus a $35 resort fee (which doesn't really cover anything that any other hotel would cover without a resort fee), you really don't expect to be nickel and dimed like that. Everything at the resort (food, drinks, etc) is priced high which is to be expected at a high end hotel. However, the level of service provided is pretty poor. This morning at their restaurant Primrose, we waited 20 minutes for any server to acknowledge our presence. None did until I asked who our server was. I ordered the buffet which pitched made to order omelets. I stood at the buffet for 10 minutes waiting for anyone to actually walk out and make an omelette. The food itself was just OK. Basically what you would expect at any generic Marriott or Hilton but you are paying high end prices. I was really excited to find what I thought would be a 5 star resort at one of my favorite beaches. However, I won't be visiting again. The property itself is nice and the pools are pretty good. It just doesn't have the amenities, level of service or just overall experience that you would expect at this price point.

Yelp
Sergay is a KING. Poolside Bar staff is all very nice in fact. Great Resort in generals, various drinks throughout the day in the lobby (coffee and tea - morning, ice tea and lemonade - afternoon). Love to lazy in the lazy river. Lots of things and food places near the resort too. Alvin's Island located just a few minutes away. New pool with grand lazy river also very nice (comes with tubes). Beach is nice, a short walk, have to pay for chair and umbrella (I recommend reserving before your trip on Henderson website). Room is clean overall, housekeeping comes in daily. Gym is also nice with water bottles and towels at each machine.

Yelp
There are a number of restaurants at the resort. The Horizon is there sorta of coffee shop/bar. On our first night we got in late so we ate at the bar. On the menu was a shrimp, crab, basil flatbread. It was the best I ever had anywhere. Our second night I skipped all the great named restaurants and went back for an encore of the shrimp, crab, basil flatbread. It was that good.

Yelp
Room service plates and serving platters or left in the hallway after two sets of cleaning crews clean the rooms. After 18 hours they still do not clean up the plates. Had to call twice before they did anything. At the rate say charge for the rooms and this is supposed to be an upscale resort, this is totally unacceptable. They literally vacuumed around them for two days. If you want to be an upscale resort why don't you act like one

Yelp
We spent a fantastic weekend here for Memorial Day. The service was incredible. We were treated so well by every staff member. The drinks were fabulous, the room was beautiful and clean, the pool was amazing and relaxing. I thought I was at Disney World, it was so great. It was an incredible and unforgettable experience. Thank you so much.

Yelp
We spent a golf vacation long weekend at the Henderson. Beautiful grounds and hotel, but disappointed we were not exactly on the beach, but a short walk away. The staff was friendly enough, but seemed to be new at their roles and not always confident of what to do. Dottie checked us in after a long day of travel from the west coast and was more than accommodating! She made our entire stay, from answering all our questions, to making sure our golf clubs were picked up and on their way back West! Thank you Dottie! We will be back and the beaches in Destin are beautiful!!

Yelp
This place has it all! We were looking for a weekend get away from Tallahassee to celebrate the last day of school for our son and spent a little more than we normally would however the Henderson was completely worth it. The service was superb. Anything we needed was attended to and the staff was great at every turn. Thy were sold out completely the weekend we went but the resort never felt full or overcrowded at all. Even the pool didn't feel crowded which was lovely. We ordered room service for breakfast and for one late night dinner and everything was appropriately warm or cold and portions were large. We splurged on an on site dinner in their more casual dinner option near the bar one night and had of the best pork belly we have ever had! My only complaint was the pool side beverage and food came at a premium cost which was a bit more than to be desired and that when we tried to sign up for a few activities included in the resort fee the activities were sold out so book those in advance. All in all I'm a huge fan. Please if you can, go enjoy the Henderson and everything that it's meant to be. It's a perfect little Destin retreat complete with everything you would want from a resort and none of the touristy-overcrowding.

Yelp
This was supposed to be great. Met the manager "Mike" on Tuesday and was given a grand tour of the dining and lounging areas. We were sold. We even bought a round of drinks. Thursday was our day for a birthday dinner at 6pm. During the tour, we noticed several patio heaters near the deck where Mike said that he would have our table set. When we arrived, it was getting colder. We asked for the heaters to be placed near us. The answer was NO. I asked "Kamal" and he said the the propane supplier was having issues with the State and that they has no propane as a result. He was a waste of space and time... asked to be seated inside. He said NO. We were the only table seated outside and it got cold quick. It was a birthday for one of our party. I called ahead and described her for a special dessert birthday dessert because I was going to bring a cake. I spoke with Deseri and even pointed the birthday girl to her when we arrived. She said that they would do something special. I even tipped Deseri $20 for her efforts. When I asked her for the heaters, she said they had none and that the ones on the patio were bolted down. Dessert came, and you couldn't tell the birthday dessert from everyone else's. They could care less about us! The food was entirely overpriced and overrated. The view of sunset and waiter (Robert) were good. Place is completely overrated and snobbish. Our party of 5 dropped $600+ and it was the low point of our week-long dining excursion in Destin. Do NOT recommend.

Yelp
Y'ALL...... I can't say enough about The Henderson! It was hands-down the BEST resort experience we've ever had. It was on this trip, on the beach in front of the resort during our second night that I proposed to my NOW fiance!! I/we didn't say anything to anyone about the proposal because we are not that fond of attention. LOL The Henderson(without even knowing of my plans before or during the remainder of the trip) made it an unforgettable experience. Unmatched customer service. I heard "My Pleasure" more often than at a Chick Fil-A convention. Not only did we hear it, the attitude and the smiles on their faces proved it to be so. We were always greeted by name, remembered from one meal to the next, greeted in the hallways and lobby with a cheerful greeting. I assume there was a smile that accompanied the greeting but the entire staff were wearing face masks......correctly! What was funny was that we were greeted by "Mr. and Mrs. Martin" the entire trip because the reservation was in her name. I didn't bother correcting them because it was kinda funny. Everything was completely wiped down after use down to the chairs at the pool and the seating at the beach as well. The massage received at the spa was better than any other either of us has received at any other resort or cruise. One drawback was that the steam room in both the men's and women's wet areas in the spa were down. Minor inconvenience. Get out to the beach pretty early if you want a front row seat at the beach. They start taking reservations at 8am at the beach and i got there at 7:15 each day. I was always about third in line so got a good spot. Reserved our seats(we got a second umbrella each time - well worth the extra $$) then i headed back and we had breakfast. We could then take our time getting down to the beach. The adult pool was awesome and quiet. Drink service passed by very frequently as we sat in the pool. Same at the beach. Service passed by regularly offering food and drinks. The food at Primrose was very delicious! We actually opted for an appetizer and sushi each night. The sushi was better than most Sushi Houses we frequent. Breakfast each morning at Primrose as well. Delicious. Drinks at the bar(both downstairs as well as the rooftop) were expertly made and the pour was always generous(hope i don't get anyone in trouble! lol) The ONLY real problem we had was that we were assigned a Handicapped room and there was no tub. We specifically opted for a pool view room because the tub seemed bigger than the Spa rooms and we wanted to soak and relax. The handicapped shower in its place was awkward and the floor was soaked in the rest of the bathroom unless we built a "towel dam". The following day we requested a room change but were informed that the resort was full. We WERE offered(without us asking) a small resort credit which was appreciated. Just wish we would have been told ahead of arrival that we were assigned a room without all of the advertised amenities. Upon departure, we called for the cart. Guy shows up in less than 5 minutes, loads the cart and we were out the door. They brought the bags down via a service elevator. We walked to the guest elevator got to the ground floor, walked right to the entrance and our vehicle was already there and being loaded(Valet parking was just a little extra and WELL worth it?) This was our first but CERTAINLY not our last trip to The Henderson. It was a truly great trip that will now hold a special place in our hearts. Now.......does the Henderson do a good wedding?????
