We loved our experience at this beach! We paid a $6 dollar parking fee. Accessible restrooms, showers along boardwalk to rid yourself, and belongings of sand. It wasn't a crowded beach. The drive to the beach across the bridge through the shopping and hotel district was crowded. Make sure to plan your route to any beach. The beach was spacious, covered in white sand and shallow out into the ocean many feet. My family loved their experience.

Google
This beach is absolutely gorgeous. There is a small fee to enter ($6 per vehicle for 2-8 passengers) but I’d gladly pay it to help keep it top notch as it was. Very clean, white sand, clear water. It didn’t feel crowded and everyone had their spacing.

Stephanie Mitchell

Google
This is a great place to go. It is very choppy with waves. Keep an eye on the flags to know how bad it is. Make sure your kids have life jackets as the waves are very powerful and will suck you in even as an adult. The beach was very clean. It only cost $6 for our car of 6 people. You can also walk up there and would be $2 a person. Parking gets you close to the beach compared to parking at other beaches and having to walk far. Highly recommend this one if you want a clean beach with showers coming out to spray sand off of you. We will come back to this beach in the future and possibly camp. More reviews to come if we do camp there!

Adriana Rodriguez

Google
Beautiful beach. There are showers to rinse off all the sand. There are restrooms nearby as well. Pretty crystal clear water enough to say that we believe we saw 2 sting rays at different times. We saw a couple jellyfish as well, but I did notice more and more showed up as the day went on. It was also nice to see little fish swimming around. Definitely come early or you will be waiting in a long line to come in. They limit how many people can come in as well. We went on Memorial weekend, got there around 9 am, and found a spot right in front of the beach with no waiting line to enter. The Rangers are nice people as well and informative.

Google
What a very beautiful beach to take a swim at. Everyone raves about Destin. I kinda feel it's mediocre at best. It's such a tourist destination, so much traffic and people to contend with. Wanted my girlfriend to see what people are talking about. We did enjoy our swim here and reasonable at $6 for the car.

Google
Excellent park with covered pavilions and restrooms and rinse stations to get most of the sand off of you , the beach is beautiful clear water and soft dandy white sands. Park employees go by regularly to empty out trash cans at pavilions so that's a plus. A well kept up beach I didn't see trash anywheres, we as people and visitors must help out and keep these beaches clean. Love it here and Walmart right across the street for those last min items

Michael Richardson

Google
The $6.00 price tag is well worth being able to enter and exit all day. I was a little disappointed that they weren't open at sunrise but came back after lunch and will be back again for the sunset. It's surprisingly shallow down around pavilion C but once you get past the first few sandbars it definitely gets deeper. The white sand is pristine and beautiful and the water crystal clear. A perfect representation of the Emerald Coast. The bathrooms are fully functioning and there are plenty of outdoor rinse spots to peruse.

Google
This place is like paradise! It’s the perfect spot to enjoy with family and have a great time. The water is crystal clear, the sand is soft and white, and the facilities are clean and well maintained. It truly has everything you need for a relaxing and fun day.

Yelp
Stopped by Henderson Beach State Park for a post breakfast beach stroll. The beach is stunning. The sand is soft, the water is clear, and the views made for a serene walk. They have some covered picnic areas with tables if you are looking to enjoy a picnic with a view. There are boardwalks taking you down to the beach and then the beach is wide, offering plenty of space for walking, sunbathing, or tossing a frisbee. It's a few dollars to get into the park (worth it). The parking was convenient to the beach. We were there in January and the beach wasn't crowded at all. It was glorious! Get to it!

Yelp
Destin, Florida is a city in NW Florida located in the Panhandle. They have gained notoriety as the beaches are magical with Emerald Waters and Powdery White Sand. Interesting fact, the sand is that way from granite deposits that flow from North GA and beyond all the way down into the Gulf as silt. Because of the beaches, the area attracts more and more tourist every year and IMO is getting more luxurious as the years go by. I've noticed better restaurants, more aesthetically pleasing looking buildings and just a more upscale feel with each visit. I'm writing this here because I noticed many of the beaches along the 6 mile coast are PRIVATE. I'm not sure which beach to actually post this review but I find that simply horrible, ridiculous, backwards and restrictive! Who adds gates with Codes to a beach?!?! I can understand a handful of properties and major resorts but to secure majority of the coastline with Controlled Access? In my particular visit I stayed at a resort and had the codes for entry/exit but found many people having difficulty simply getting to the beach! I don't think they knew the beaches would have controlled Access! Even to exit, you need a code! That's shameful! It was frustrating to see people struggle with umbrellas/coolers and chairs only to have to find the Public Beach and have to walk back to their car. May I add the city also doesn't have any form of boardwalk to enjoy a long walk down the coast or some form of transportation to maneuver the public/private beaches! You're basically on your own! I'm curious Who/When/How that got approved because that's definitely some backwards N. Florida, My Property, ME, ME, ME planning! I'm not a resident but I believe some things on this planet are public and Imo a beach is one of them! Plus their has to be better ways to protect and maintain these beaches than blocking them off from the general public. Any who, for anybody planning a Trip to Destin, Please do your homework! Visit the website below which has hyperlinks for all the beaches which explains access points/fees/sizes of the beach and more details. I'll also attach a picture which shows a few of the main Public Beaches. It does appear the largest beach is Henderson Beach with1.22 miles of shoreline. Seems like the general "Dump the masses" area. The others are significantly smaller! smh. Any who I hope this helps! One Last detail, We had many umbrellas and chairs however this was literally the 1st beach that didn't have Umbrellas for sale on the beach. It's just very restrictive down there and is worthy of a review! https://www.cityofdestin.com/281/Beach-Information

Yelp
Plenty of parking and bathrooms and clean but deserted beach. This beach has accessible access.

Yelp
Henderson Beach State Park (H B S P) is a great place to visit for picnicking, just beaching/ beach activities, or nature trail walk. H B S P opened in 1991. It has boardwalks to the beach, campsites, picnic area, playground, natural trail, and a couple of big parking lots. The beach of H B S P is over a mile long with pristine, sugary white sand and greenish blue gulf water. It is beautiful. The nature trail is a serene 3/4 mile stretch of land with grassy dunes, sandy walking trail, and plants and trees native to the area. The state park and the beach areas are well maintained and clean. There are rinse off shower stations as well. The beach security personnel occasionally take a stroll in their vehicle, keeping an eye out for public safety. The state park is a controlled area whereby you have to pay for parking ($6), and there are state park personnel on site. The $6 parking fee is valid for one whole day from the time the park opens to its closure in the evening. You also get in & out privileges with the receipt of your parking pass. I had a great time visiting H B S P, and I'd definitely go back here if I were to visit Destin, FL.

Yelp
Parking is $5, great access to the beach with facilities to rinse off. Paved parking so you don't have to worry about getting stuck in the sand.

Yelp
Hidden Gem and I'm not gatekeeping. Destin, Florida known for their emerald green waters and sandy white beaches. With that being said, everyone flocks there to soak up the sun with amazing views. I'm a Houstonian and used to our Galveston beaches, where you're allowed to drive up and do whatever the heck you want--- don't think about doing that in Destin. Everything is park and walk. Good luck to you with finding public parking. This is why I highly rate Henderson Beach State Park. Entry is $6 per vehicle (up to six persons). It seems to be less crowded because of the entry fee. Bring a wagon of some sort to carry all of your items or if you want to get in an extra extra work out--- carry all your stuff. The sand is so soft, your legs have to work harder to get to where you're going. Make sure you're looking out for the beach warning flags before getting into the water. After you're all done, there's a rinse off spot at the end of the pier. You can leave most of the sand at the beach ;) Throw on some sunscreen and visit. It's so worth it!!!
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
Fabulous beach! Gorgeous water, gorgeous sand. Wash off stations can be found. Definitely worth the bucks to get in if you family can stay the course or survive the heat, mine couldn't.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Solid beach and clean facilities. You're hear for one reason - to swim. If you can't swim or at the very least enjoy the warm sand then this isn't worth visiting. There is a nature trail but otherwise it's a beach only park. You'll find pavilions with picnic tables and restrooms for day use. Campgrounds have a dedicated area. Showers are available, but don't use soaps in the day use rinse area. Entry costs $6 per vehicle as of December 2023.
google avatar

Maria D.

Yelp
Beautiful beach, ample parking, and very affordable. I believe it was $6/vehicle regardless of occupants, when we visited in May 2023. While our resort had a private beach complete with complimentary chairs and umbrellas we choose to come here. It had a natural landscape, clean restrooms, and covered pavilion for eating lunch. The beach was super clean and had a nice boardwalk to access the sand, complete with a slope for strollers. There were foot and shower faucets and natural sand dunes to admire, with the cutest tiny flowers. The water was so aqua blue it almost felt unreal. This was one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever been to, especially since the white sand does not get hot, and the water refreshing but not cold. While it did attract a crowd as the day went on the beach never felt overly crowded and everyone could spread out. I liked that the distance from our car to the beach was a short walk, especially with all of our beach gear in tow. There was a small playground off the one parking lot geared towards smaller kids which was nice. If you save your receipt, you can leave and come back that same day without paying PROVIDED they did not reach max capacity. Be aware that returning is not guaranteed. I did not see any lifeguards. There is also a campground opposite from the public beach which we did not go to. I do wish there were more trash cans in place as there were none on the beach, the boardwalk access, or at the pavilion itself.

Yelp
Great beach option for Destin! $4+ entrance fee ($6 for a car with up to 8 people. It's +$2/person over 8 people in a vehicle) Plenty of parking, short walk to the beach. Great spots to wash off at. You can leave and come back if you have your receipt as long as there is parking.
google avatar

Ramon F.

Yelp
Casual beach restaurant with great, fast service. The food was very good. Nice views of the ocean.

Nikkie K.

Yelp
Such a beautiful place to visit!! Take advantage of the chair & umbrella rentals unless you bring your own! Water was warm, clear and so worth a swim!! Watch out for the sand crabs lol definitely a story to tell with those creatures!! Go, experience, you'll have a blast!!

Lisa A.

Yelp
Helicopters from a commercial company creates noise pollution by tge constant flying over the camp ground and beach. Shame on you destin for allowing this. It's such a beautiful area.
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
My husband and stayed September 17th-21st and every day we spent it right here! It's a $6 day pass for a party of 2 in one vehicle. No pets are allowed on the beach, but pets are allowed into the park. They have a small, wonderful nature trail behind the beach where you can take them to explore. The beach is taken care of! The bathrooms are clean, the showers by the beach work great... except people can't learn to shut the water off! Even on a cloudy day, this beach has so much to offer. The best beach in Destin!
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
Love it here! The beach is so nice! I've been here twice now, both on Saturday mornings before 10:00am. I didn't have any trouble finding parking or a place to settle in. The park is well-kept and clean. There are restrooms and showers at well-placed intervals in the park. They have beach chairs and umbrellas to rent ($40/day for a set - 2 chairs, 1 umbrella) on the beach and a souvenir/supply/snack truck in the parking lot. I'm told it gets pretty crowded much after 10:00 during peak season. Cars were lining up when we arrived. They have one person taking the $6/car fee. If you're using a credit card, you're slowing the whole process down. Having just moved to the area, this will now become our "go-to" beach when we want to visit Destin!
google avatar

Mar F.

Yelp
Visiting the Henderson Beach State park twice was a very good experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful when asking questions about park hours and what to expect from visiting the park. The entrance fee is only $6.00 dollars which is a fair price. There is a nature trail and beach access. Plenty of parking, showers and restrooms. Clean beach. We highly recommend this State park!
google avatar

April M.

Yelp
So pretty and peaceful. You do have to pay to get into the area but definitely a must see while in the area! There was also a wheelchair ramp on one of the three entryways for the beach area. It was part of the restroom area. Nice restrooms and sitting area. If you have time to stop by, I would highly suggest that.
google avatar

Monarch M.

Yelp
If you are looking for peace and quiet you can forget it at this State Park. Whether you're at the beach or in the campground, ALL DAY LONG you will hear loud annoying helicopters constantly flying overhead. Very surprised they allow tourists to take over with their helicopter rides every 2 minutes... it's one after another and then another! No wonder the State parks on 30A just an hour away are so sought after. Grayton and Topsail State Parks do not have this noise pollution. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Angie G.

Yelp
Beautifully kept park with lots of restrooms and cleanest beach anywhere! So close to town and only $6 entry per car!
google avatar

K L.

Yelp
Very nice public beach with surprisingly cheap entry fee. Ironically enough, we would come here to the "public" beach to avoid the chaos/crowds from the "private" access areas we were allotted (whether at a condo or more recently, house with subdivision entry). The waters here are absolutely beautiful (staying true to its infamous emerald colour) with soft, pearl white sand. There are multiple picnic areas within this state park that let you pack a basket to enjoy lunch or early dinner here. Restroom and shower facilities are also well maintained. My family looks forward to coming back here soon!
google avatar

Yaya C.

Yelp
Beautiful beach with large pavilions with bathrooms. Camping with hookups are booked a year in advance so book now! It's a wonderful setting for a wedding. The park charges per carload for entry and closes before sunset each evening.
google avatar

MIlton S.

Yelp
It's another beautiful Destin-ish beach with a place to shower after beaching or fishing. I fished there and caught some beautiful Whiting and took a swim to beat the heat. There's a nominal tab to enter, but good parking. And there are not as many people on the beach here, so you can social distance plus......
google avatar

Bohdan B.

Yelp
Great park with great location. Nice wide beach. Perfect for beach photo shoots. .....
google avatar

Karrie C.

Yelp
Just got here for the first time today for our photo shoot and we LOVE IT! The water is CLEAR and beautiful color. Not very many people on the beach. Actually nice to take photos, water is warm. We love love it here. $6 for entrance fee is very reasonable because you are not sitting right NEXT to someone on the beach. Beautiful place to watch sunset
google avatar

Greg U.

Yelp
Henderson Beach State Park. I walked in as it was close to the condo. $2 to enter. Previous days I'd come in via the beach and didn't realise it was chargeable. The nature trail is beautiful.

Clyde H.

Yelp
We got married on the beach at Henderson Beach State Park on October 6th and it was beautiful. Well-maintained and quiet, it's a great place to go hang out (or have your wedding ceremony ).
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
Love, love, love!!! $6 vehicle entrance fee. So worth the admission fee since the beaches are beautiful and not as crowded. I have heard so many Texans rave about the beaches in Destin. I'm so glad we came out here to see these beautiful white beaches and clear waters. Loved this beach. They have a pavilion and restrooms. Showers to wash the sand off. Nice boardwalk to walk down to the beach. Plenty of parking and space on the beach so you can have some privacy. The park is big and offers bicycling, camping, fishing, geocaching, nature trail, picnic areas, wild life viewing, etc Come check this place out. You will not be disappointed at all.
google avatar

Yelp
Who couldn't use a quick beach get-a-way or family vacation??? Well I am talking to all Tennesseans, Alabamians, Georgians, Louisianians, and even Texans, or anyone who would love to experience one of the prettiest beaches along the Florida Panhandle. Still not convenience? What about pure relaxation as you listen to the sound of waves against the shore, emerald clear water with sea-life at your feet, and soft sand between your toes. Guess what you can have it all for a small entrance fee. This was my first visit and it was 4th of July weekend. It was crowded but we did not have difficulty finding the perfect spot on the beach. Park patrol was visible to enforce: No alcohol, glass, fires, or animals are allowed on the beach. A helicopter would pass every 5-10 minutes looking for "Dangerous Marine Life" and luckily none were spotted during the time I was there. Daily Park Entrance Fees as of July 2017: $6.00 Per Vehicle (2-8 People), $4.00 Per Vehicle Single Occupant, $2.00 Per Person Walkers, Bicyclist and extra passengers over 8. HBSP is a family friendly beach that offers sugary white sand that is not too hot to walk barefoot, clean clear water, bathroom access, and outdoor hoses and showers. The water was the perfect temperate for swimming and water play. I even enjoyed a nap while I sunbathe and as a result got the perfect tan. All in all a great beach experience. Check out their website for other park adventures. A small price to pay for rest and relaxation and it is well worth it.
google avatar

Ryan Q.

Yelp
Entrance fee: 6$ Clean, not crowded and very relaxing. Some areas is closed There are areas also for grilling Good to watch the sunset
google avatar

Nga H.

Yelp
Very clean and nice beach. It is a public beach but you have to pay to enter, $4 to $8 depending on how many people. They have a nice pergola when you first come in, there are plenty of park grills and tables with benches. There's also places for overnight RV's. It wasn't overly crowded like it would've been precovid, but it was crowded enough. but I'm not complaining! I prefer beaches that are quiet and relaxing. We were second row from the water and still had great visual on the kids. The beach is great for kids, since it is shallow for quite a distance surprisingly. It's a beautiful white sand beach! It's literally the 1st of May so the water is that chilly type but once you get in, it's fine after 5-10 mins. We brought water shoes but there were no need for them since it was really clean. So clean, there were barely any seashells . The rentals for umbrellas and chairs are expensive, it's $40 for real chairs and an umbrella. We seen a shop offer them for $10 so ‍. I give it a 4 star because I felt like people were fishing to close to where everyone else was hanging out. Felt a little dangerous considering the kids weren't too far away from them.
google avatar

George L.

Yelp
Worth the few dollars to have a less crowded beach!! Very nice and clean!! Well maintained!!
google avatar

Chicago G.

Yelp
The beach is absolutely stunning, clean, and not crowded. Great covered area with picnic tables to have lunch or a few outside atop the trail as well. So nice to have bathroom facilities here. The trail was a bit disappointing and the reason we came on a coldish and overcast day. It's about 3/4 mile and not too exciting. The beach itself is a winner and highly recommend. Only $6 to park.
google avatar

Minette C.

Yelp
Best part of the trip was coming to this beach. White, soft sand. I love watching my baby touching sand for the first time. So much curiosity. He loved the sand but was terrified with the water. We didn't go too deep into water, but my daughter loved the waves crashing into her. We only spent one afternoon here and wish we had more time.
google avatar

Trisha G.

Yelp
First time to Destin and this beach was recommended. Wow! Just beautiful! Water had a emerald blue color to the water with its sugar like color sand. Didn't want to leave. Worried it was going to rain on us but it didn't. A lot of people but didn't feel crowded. Definitely can't wait to come back. FYI: $6.00 for entry
google avatar

Joey S.

Yelp
Great park, amazing beach Very quite cane here with our 3 young kids and another family of 5 and we very enjoyed ourselves. No lifeguard on duty Beach is clean and has a lot of space, chairs and umbrellas rentals are available at the front gate. Overall would recommend to spend a day or 2 $6 will get you in for a vehicle up to 8 people Also has clean showers and toilets Great covered bbq area
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
Visited this beach two days in a row and I have nothing but great things to say. Public beach, clean not crowded ( at least the two days visited). There is a charge for parking ($6 dollars max) assuming you have under 8 ppl in your ride. Still it's well worth it. Parking admission does allow you flexibility to leave and come back. Stayed at the Fairfield Inn across the street which is clearly walking distance but not advisable due to the road construction underway now. What I like most other than the scenery there are no commercial panhandling aspects of selling stuff or constantly getting hassled while relaxing. Everyone here seems to have a common purpose ....relax, enjoy the white sands and clear green water. Good choice David! When you arrive, if you are looking for a more low key area on this beach look for my tip!
google avatar

Killa K.

Yelp
I wish I could give 5 stars but due to the misinformation I was given after purchasing a family yearly state pass I simply can not bring my self to do so. I was told that I was limited to 8 people, 2 vehicles by the park ranger who sold me the pass but upon entry on my latest visit with my 6 person 2 vehicle family they stated no. It's allotted for 1 vehicle. 8 persons. The beach is still pretty nice just wish I wasn't given the run around.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
Since Destin does not have dog-friendly beaches, the "Nature Trail" at this park is a close second best for your pup. The trail is less than a mile of sand path that winds through various native plant life.
google avatar

Charlene C.

Yelp
Love this beach...clean peaceful awesome. One side has waves the other very calming. Best vacation ever in this area.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
The beach is squeaky clean, kind staff, and only $6 to get in. We found a spot on our own with space around us for a Friday afternoon and plenty of parking. Flags for the day are easily visible and let you know what to expect for the water. The water is easily accessible from the parking lot, and if needed, has wheelchair ramps. The water is beautiful and the sand had little to no trash (did pick up a couple spare pieces of trash laying around). There is no lifeguard on duty. Patrons were super laid back; no one seemed high and mighty. People shared the water and were nice to talk to. Clean bathrooms. Vending drink machines with credit card options. Park accepts cards to get in, which seems a noble idea for Destin! My husband and I drove from Atlanta for an overnight vacation and Destin surely did not disappoint. This will definitely be a beach we return to.
google avatar

Richard F.

Yelp
This is a beach you will not want to miss if you are coming to Destin. It is gorgeous and the sand is so soft you sink when you walk on it. The day we were there the yellow danger flags were out so we had to very careful. The whole area was very clean and there was plenty of free parking. There are pavilions and places to wash your feet as well as yourself off afterwards. We can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
Beautiful beach, easy access, clean bathrooms!!! We went in Mid June the weather was beautiful water clear emerald. Great job Florida
google avatar

LaDonna W.

Yelp
We absolutely love Henderson beach! We come here every time we come to Destin! The six dollar fee covers the entire day so we can go back and enjoy the sunset if you want. As a family with a son in a wheelchair I really appreciate their free beach wheelchairs! We just love it!

Ma R.

Yelp
Best beach in Destin! Clean bathrooms and picnic areas. White sand and blue water are beautiful. Ample parking and can reenter later in the day. Tried other beaches but nothing in comparison to Henderson Beach.
google avatar

Amy P.

Yelp
Rest relaxing beach! Not too crowded, white sand, tortoise water, and the waves are nice and calm. Camping is also available.
google avatar

Vivian W.

Yelp
Very nice beach, also nice road could do bike riding. All the white sand beach, like sugar.. love it! But you need to pay entrance fee!
google avatar

Kennady R.

Yelp
Super fun day at the beach, very odd fishy smell that I've never experienced at a beach before and I lived by the ocean my whole life. Once you get past the smell it's a great place for family fun and a good ole fashioned picnic!
google avatar

Trey E.

Yelp
If your in Destin and want to have a quiet beach day that's not crowded, go to Henderson's.
google avatar

Lynette R.

Yelp
The beach is very clean with lots of fish. You do have to pay a small fee whether you drive, walk, or bike. Save your receipt because you can leave and come back in. There is plenty of parking and once you climb the steps to get to the beach, you're right there. The beach can get crowded but there is still plenty of room to set up your own space. I recommend bringing your own tent or umbrella which not only provides shade from the sun but comes in handy should you come in contact with a downpour of rain. There are outdoor showers that allow you to get the sand off before getting back into your car.
