The Museo Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum is certainly one of Rome's quirkier museums. Between 1922 and 1925, the Norwegian-American sculptor Hendrik Christian Andersen designed and built Villa Hélène (named after his beloved mother, who lived with him until her death in 1927), a grand house-cum-studio, which, on his death, he bequeathed (full of his sculptures) to the Italian nation. The Villa Hélène, which houses a motley collection of Andersen's sculptures, lies just outside the Porta del Popolo. It is well worth seeking out.

This place is Mind blowing. No one was there! It's about a 20min walk from the center & not many want to walk that far or just don't know. We went on a weekday so that might be it. But wow! The statues surround you & are stunning.

my favorite museum Ever - I was the only person there. Front desk ladies let me charge my phone. Incredible collection beyond words and I only paid 2 euros

Stunning! Small but perfect museum. The figures are show stoppers and the architectural drawings are a delight. A man of true vision. Left me with a great sense of what might have been.

The museum cost roughly 2 euros for anyone that's under 25 and usually there's no queue to enter so it's a pretty good spot. I've gone there before and I have to say I think the museum would benefit from a little bit more explanation, I'm quite fortunate in the in the fact that I was prepared for or what I was going to be seeing so all the questions that I could have had were already answered. But for someone that's going there for the first time not knowing what to expect, they could become curious and require more of an explanation. But in all it is was a good experience

I didn't know about the sculptor nor the house-museum, but thankfully a friend brought me there. It's a gem hidden in plain sight! The house is well preserved and contains many many works by the sculptor and his relatives (he was from a very artistic family!). The ground floor has his studio and exhibition area, while on the other floors there are the rooms where he lived and now are a gallery with paintings by him, his brother and other people close to him. I recommend to go out to the terrace and also to stop and watch the video about his life. And it's free, no ticket nor reservation needed (at least when I went, on April 2023).

Great little museum honoring an under appreciated sculptor. Well worth a visit!

Great museum hidden in a palace behind piazzale Flaminio. The 2 main rooms filled with statues are incredible, Shame for the lighting that doesn’t give justice to the statues.
