Surprised my boyfriend with breakfast and he ended up feeling defeated. He loves pancakes so he ordered 2. What we did was underestimate the size of these pancakes. They are HUGE and that was for the smallest pancake. We will definitely be going back this weekend but we are taking an army to finish the pancakes. Haha.

I cannot speak to the subject of the food, as we did not have the opportunity to eat here as we had planned. As in the past, I am always looking for new places to take my family to eat. This particular weekend was no different, with a few exceptions: 1st, when we arrived, I had to go to the restroom after my wife and daughter had let the hostess know the count of our party. The wait was rather short despite the place being relatively packed. (This part turned out to be the only positive experience we were going to have) According to my wife and daughters, the hostess was very rude toward them getting them seated and quickly preceeded to make a massive point about my coconut water, which I have been drinking all of my life and have taken to literally every restaurant on this planet. I had only 1 restaurant prior to this 1 which had asked me if I would mind at least pouring in their glass as to not promote outside beverages. (No problem) and we continued our dining w/ pleasure. Not at this location. Without so much as a respectful or tactful approach, I was met by a forceful manager, backed by a owner whom neither even cared to hear a word I actually had to say. I attempted to explain I have never, nor ever will consume alcohol, so the "alcohol" conversation is honestly mute point. Az law does not actually prohibit anyone from bringing their own non-alcoholic beverage into a restaurant, True reason is loss of revenue, not being understanding, accommodating, while simultaneously being aggressive and rude is the best deturant of revenue. If the concern is they could choke, then that could happen w/ their products, why not offer a liability waiver? Anyway, I guess you would have to be there to experience how smug, rude and overall unwelcoming they all were. Here is a suggestion, instead of being prices about ur "policy" try offering your guest a similar replacement drink on the house instead of a smug glass of attitude. Ultimately we ended up at a much nicer location, food their was excellent, & not an eye batted at my coconut water.

Food was amazing! Chicken sandwich was so good! Could only eat half. Pancake was massive! Sausage patties were huge and very tasty! The staff was very friendly and service was quick!

The portions here are UNBELIEVABLE! You will not leave hungry. They have lots of tables to seat families and a private dining area for larger parties. My kids ordered the kids pancake platter and it was at least 12” in diameter, plus it came with eggs and sausage or bacon. The blueberry lemon mascarpone pancakes are delicious and thick! My only suggestion is that they give you a pizza cutter for cutting up these giant pancakes. Skyler was our waitress and she was very attentive. The manager came by and checked on us to make sure we were well taken care of. Bottom line… the prices are great, the portions are HUGE, freshly made, and delicious, and the service was great! We will be back again.

Their specialty is breakfast and it won't disappoint. All breakfast related items had good flavor, nice portions, including the pancake stack. However, tue Cuban sandwich wasn't as good as other Cuban sandwiches I had here in Phoenix, Los Angeles and Miami. Service is great and our server was attentive and on point all the time.

Stopped for lunch. The restaurant was busy but we had a short wait. My chicken avocado sandwich was huge! Delicious and had plenty of bacon and avocado. Husband had the cuban. Also great. Portions for breakfast were humongous! One table had their left over pancakes in a pizza box!. The restaurant is a little noisy.

Henhouse cafe started as a small operation in 2010 and has grown to four locations here in AZ. They are located in Mesa, two in Gilbert, and the fourth just opened in Tempe. They have won "Best of Gilbert" awards for many years. We ate at the 3rd installment right across the road from Sloan Park in Mesa. My HH breakfast sandwich was delicious. It's a large biscuit with fried chicken, cheddar cheese, bacon, fried egg, and gravy. The kids could only eat less than half of the huge chocolate chip pancakes. These were big, but the "mom's famous pancake" we saw come out to other tables was huge! The Texas benedict was a fun twist on a favorite; carnitas on cornbread with green chile hollandaise. Everything was tasty and the farmhousedecor was cute. We all walked out full and with leftovers. They offer 10% off daily for service members and 15% on Mondays. Check out this great breakfast option in the East Valley.

First time there but wasn't impressed. My bacon was hard and chewy. Tasted old. Didn't like the potatoes. Tasted like they were cooked in old grease. Wanted sourdough toast but it was more like Texas toast. Too thick. Didn't taste like sour dough. The eggs were the only thing done right. The music was very loud.

When we walked in, we were greeted immediately and sat down by a very nice lady who was very pleasant. I had the chicken fried chicken breakfast with a biscuit and it comes with sausage gravy over the biscuit and the chicken fried chicken and oh my goodness I have to tell you the chicken fried chicken is hand breaded and was cooked perfectly and I had half crunchy and half soft potatoes, and over easy eggs absolutely delicious!! The restaurant was very clean and orderly and family oriented, which was very nice Our server was outstanding. Our drinks were always full. Our food was perfect. I will be coming here again and everyone should come. Try it out if you haven't.

Stopped by this morning for breakfast and to send out a couple of emails. It was my first visit after regularly driving by on my way to work. The restaurant was clean, the staff was nice, and I got seated immediately, which was great. I noticed there were two visible restaurant WiFi networks, but unfortunately, they don't offer guest access. I ended up using my hotspot, which worked fine but was a bit inconvenient. I ordered a simple two-egg breakfast. The portions were generous, but I was disappointed that there weren't any non-pork options to substitute for the bacon or sausage. No alternative was offered, so I just skipped that part of the meal. Overall, it was a decent experience--good service and food--but it's missing some amenities and flexibility other breakfast spots tend to provide.

Beware of the portions! Wowza, I was visiting a friend from high school and she recommended this place. I was craving an eggs benedict and they had so much to offer. Their menu is vast and shocking with the portions for some dishes. The waitress wasn't very friendly, kind of cold. Maybe she was having a bad morning? Regardless, the tables are small for their portion sizes but we made due with 4 people. Its definitely a great place to eat a little of everything if you're craving a homecooked breakfast meal.

First time here. The server was great! Food was came out quickly and was plentiful. It could have been a bit warmer for my liking. The restaurant vibe is supposed to be "barn like." It was nice and clean and spacious. Personally, I'm not a huge breakfast person, so I don't think I would return. Maybe for lunch.

The food was absolutely fantastic! And it's not that expensive. I had the Irish Benedict, and it was both delicious and incredibly satisfying. My waitress, Jyannell, was amazing and she was so friendly and efficient. The cafe itself has a lovely, simple decor, creating a really pleasant atmosphere.

I was very pleased by the quality and service at Henhouse. High quality sausage along with the delicious potatoes to go along with my eggs. What a difference a "mom & pop" place is compared to a chain. I always seek out a local restaurant than a chain. If you're near a Henhouse, GO!

So we came for brunch on mother's day. We were glad it wasn't packed. My roommate wanted to try this place. I just wanted pancakes and they only have two different plates of pancakes weird for a breakfast place but ok. I got the big pancake it was really good. Except they put powder sugar on it( not a fan of it, and it didn't say it on the menu). And she got the big plate of everything that's breakfast with French toast. The atmosphere was good. But I wasn't too happy with the service the girl never came back to refill our drinks after we got our food. We might try the place again... maybe not on a holiday.

Loved their eggs Benedict an home fried potatoes. Our servicer was so nice and attentive. We got there at the perfect time before the Sunday rush, it was nice and airy and open. Will go back anytime I'm in the area.

Single one plate order for breakfast took 37 minutes to deliver food. Horrible service. Wasn't Vanessa N.'s fault, but it was ridiculous. Almost walked out. Food was decent. I give it a 7.5 on food and a 0.4 on service

Stepped in around 12:55 on a lunch break, servers walking around and did not greet me for a few mins even after making eye contact. I overhear a server tell another server to tell me they close at 1. I am finally greeted and am told they closed in a minute but I can sit if I wanted... lol they really did not want me there. She lets me know that during weekdays they are closed at 1 however I checked their website and Yelp before arriving, both posted hours say 2pm. Management should update website and Yelp for those of us that check restaurant information online.

We really lucked out because we went the day after Christmas and there was no wait for a table. When we left an hour later, all tables were full and there were a dozen people waiting. The decor is farmhouse and very warm and friendly. Our server was attentive. There was a seasonal and regular menu, everything on the menu was a full meal, I was just looking for a side while my hungry dining partners had a big meal but there were none listed, so I got swayed by a lemon blueberry mariscone pancake. It was huge, bigger than the dinner plate it was served on. I would've preferred a much smaller pancake with more blueberries and mascarpone. I don't know anyone who would've eaten that whole thing! My family loved the Mexican Benedict, the chipotle hollindase sauce was creamy and spicy. The only problem we ran into is the Benedict were served about 15 minutes before the pancake. Overall enjoyable. Get there early if you can!

The food was delicious. We got our coffee right away, and we took our time to decide on our meal because of the huge selection of meals to choose from. We had the Santa Fe omelet cooked to our preference. The service was great, even being short staffed. The french toast was perfect with their homemade light syrup. We'll be back when we visit our daughter in a few weeks.

I was super excited to try this place but unfortunately had a horrible first experience! First I have to mention that although the farmhouse style set up if cute the wooden chairs are not the most comfortable and it's freezing inside the restaurant! We asked to switch to a booth and we're moved which is where the problems started with the new server. He came up to us and the first thing he said was that we had to throw out our coffees. We mentioned we would still buy drinks if that was the problem and intended to spend a lot on food, so they wouldn't lose money on us bringing in our drinks but that we wanted to keep the coffees. This was a huge problem for them. The only option they gave was to take the coffees from us and hold them hostage at the host stand, that we could exit the restaurant and put them in our car, or that we could not eat there. We asked to speak to a manager just to understand that what they were saying was right and that they would rather lose business than allow us to have our coffees and the server refused to call the manager saying that he was the one in charge. So we left and didn't get to try the food. Don't think I'll return to this location and if you are planning to go make sure you don't bring anything from anywhere else because they are sticklers about this rule. Went to a different diner right after and despite the fact that they were near close time they sat us with a smile, had no problems with the coffee and we had a great time with amazing service and delicious food. Glad we were able to take our business elsewhere if you crave a good breakfast try Hoosiers Cafe, Harlow's Cafe, Chase's Diner, Jim's Coney Island Cafe

Service was slow I believe they forgot to put in our order but when it finally came out the food was good, seasoned well however it was a little cold. Would like to try again when less busy

This is the 3rd location we have visited. Henhouse is my favorite breakfast place. Our sever was great at first but we sat for 15 minutes waiting for our check even though he walked past us 3 times. That is the reason I am not giving 5 stars

We love the Henhouse Cafe (particularly the location on Higley). It's been a family favorite of ours for years. However, we've noticed the service and punctuality at this location is lacking. When we arrived, we were told it'd be a 20-25 min wait. We agreed and waited patiently for a table for four. However, we saw multiple parties arrive after us of four or more, and they continuously got seated ahead of us. At around 40 mins, my husband had gone up and asked politely what the estimated remaining time was, then I think they realized they skipped us. We ended up waiting an additional 10 mins and got our table after nearly an hour of waiting. Our server seemed like she did not want to be there. Our food took quite a while longer, and when it came out it was cold and dry. If this had been our first time coming here, we wouldn't go back. Needless to say, we likely won't return to this location in the future anymore.

Awful as usual. We used to frequent them regularly then things changed. So after one year of being gone we decided to try it again. Seated and waited 12 minutes. Place had 2 parties in the whole restaurant. We waited 12 minutes while 4 servers stood behind the bar on their phones and sharing and laughing. They looked at us several times but never came over or acknowledged us. Walked out. See ya ... done with henhouse forever!

Really disappointing, wouldn't allow me to bring my own water bottle inside. A lot of the food is cooked in pork fat, definitely not friendly for kosher eating. The fruit was not fresh. The server seemed annoyed with answering questions about the menu. They're "fresh cinnamon roll" is microwaved. Will not be back.

I went to meet a friend for breakfast here. I was behind a family who got in trouble for brining in a sippy cup and had to take it to the car but weirdly not the sliced apples they had. Then it was my turn. It was almost nine restaurant wasn't busy. I asked for a table for two. Hostess (later saw her interviewing so boss?) says to me. We don't sit people till everyone be is here, but I guess I could seat you. I say well thanks for being accommodating and she proceeds to have me wait. Five minutes later she seats me at a two top. Now really I should've said I was there alone and had my friend sit across from me. Seriously if you're not full why is there a problem seating people? The place I bright and cheery and our waitress was super friendly even though my mimosa showed up after my friends and I was there and ordered five minutes prior to her getting there. I find the manager/hostess was the big killer for me. I mean if you have rules no outside food or drink then be consistent (both the babies sippy cup and apples). Seat people when they show up when it's 1 of 2. I mean same table size either way. Food was good but idk if we will go back anytime soon with all the other choices in the area.

Food was not good. Pretty basic and bland. Eggs were hardly edible and the biscuit and gravy was dry and tasteless.

We loved it! People were friendly, the Coup was clean, and the food was delicious! The huge pancake was a hit with my daughter. So happy we were finally able to try this place.

Nice breakfast place. Had the biscuit and gravy. It t was okay it came out cold. Also ordered the BLTA and they served a chicken avocado. Sent it back and waited . The BLTA when it came out was very good. Service was slow and it was busy, but still very slow. I'm sure they can do better, but today was a miss.

This place is amazing. We recommend the Cuban as it's one of the best in town. Our server Janelle was absolutely great. She was friendly, and perfectly attentive. Janelle was a joy! Love this place !!

My Daughters and Grandchildren took me there for an early Birthday Breakfast, service was horrible, food was even worse they spent quite a bit on meals for 9 of us, after much complaining the manager took the chicken meals off 3 of them, my poor granddaughters eggs were not even edible the waffle was a charcoal brickette as the chicken fried steaks, gravy was cold the potatoes as well had a funny flavor, the only thing that was edible was the toast. We will never go back, it used to be delicious I don't know what changed very bad experience.

This is a must when you visit Scottsdale, or Phoenix! It was the first place we went when we landed in Phoenix. They have the biggest pancake you've ever seen! And they have pizza boxes so you can take the leftovers. Totally worth it! The staff was super friendly, and it's got a laid back country theme. Just really comfortable and fun.

Henhouse cafe is such a wonderful spot for some of the best breakfast! We had company in from out of town come in and we knew exactly where we were going to take them for breakfast! The environment is great, the staff is so kind and helpful. If your looking for everything a restaurant should be this is the place you you! First time trying this place out the service was good. We came in 40 minutes before close. The food came out super quick and it was a big portion which is what I was hoping for. I got a peach tea and the barn buster. The restaurant was also clean. Will stop by again.

I went to this cafe this morning with a friend! I'll be honest it took them a moment to make eye contact and seat us, but once we were seated we had fantastic service. My friend and I shared Mom's famous giant pancakes (or whatever it's called) got coffee, and each got a side of eggs. After tip her and I each payed about $26 and have leftovers that will last us days! The pancakes were so good, maybe they have nutmeg or cinnamon. They were even kind enough to move us to a bigger table to fit the plate of pancakes. The decor was absolutely adorable. I have waited to go here for years (I'm from out of state) and I am so glad I finally got the opportunity! I would go back every weekend if I had the time and money!

Ok so here's the sitch... It was a cheat day for hubs and he wanted to try the giant pancakes here after dieting and training for a couple of months. But once we saw it at a table next to us , we opted for the short stack, which was still HUGE for 2 people to share! We added chocolate chips to the pancakes and enjoyed just a few bites as we almost finished our other individual entrees by the time the pancakes came. Again, we were expecting the short stack to be a side order and was amazed at how big it was so buyer beware! We took most of it to go in a medium size pizza box! The fried chicken sandwich was made with chicken breast and biscuits for buns... hubs approved. I finished my chicken fried steak and had some potatoes left over. Overall everything was pretty tasty and the service was great. Thanks, Dallas! We came about 1230 so it wasn't too busy, so food came out quick which we appreciated as we skipped breakfast knowing lunch would be heavy! I bet they are super busy in the mornings on the weekends, so I would recommend going after 12 to have a better overall experience. The Bloody Mary was tasty, but maybe needed a double shot lol All in all, I would come here again if we had friends or family with us just to tackle that giant pancake! Food was good, bathrooms were clean, staff was friendly

The food is good, no complaints there. We got sat down rather quickly for how full it was. I would definitely recommend this place.

Good service and above average breakfast dishes not the most comfortable atmosphere,loud and crowded feel

Just awful. My family was served their food while I waited for my food to come out. Their food was finished before i even for a plate. I waited that long for a gross chorizo burrito. It was too cheesy with cheese that wasn't even melted. My husband's chicken and waffles were disgusting as well. His chicken was so over cooked it, most of it was inedible and the waffle was soggy and undercooked, no syrup was used. We did not finish our meals, we could not wait to leave. We were not checked on by the server. Do not recommend, we will not be back.

Make reservations! Downfall you can't on weekends or at least the Saturday I went. Seen something on instagram about a 3lb pancake... so I had to try it. Super busy brunch spot. On a Saturday morning we waited 45mins for a table for 2. Yes they have adult drinks, which is a plus. The pancake was AMAZINGLY good!! My son and I did not even put a dent in it.

The wait time was the only caution for this cafe. We were told 30-45 and it was an hour. We arrived to a line both inside and out. A pleasant crowd just enjoying the cooler weather. The wait staff was efficient and kind despite the large number of patrons. The tables were clean. The food came out hot (a Rueben and a BLTA) and our beverages will refilled. Great spot for brunch! Easy parking too.

On vacation, my friends and I stopped at Henhouse to try their ginormous pancakes and they were worth the trip to Mesa. The pancake was big enough to share and we added chocolate chips. I would highly reccomend to any one who loves pancakes.

One of the best breakfast spots around! Amazing service and amazing customer service. Never have I had a manager (Mike) pull a chair out and push it back in for me. Dallas our service noticed my order wasn't right even though I wasn't going to say anything....was not a big deal but still took it back to be re made. The 2 times we have come here the experience has been so nice. It's busy but to be expected. See you guys again soon -Kasey and Anthony.

Although it was a very clean restaurant the huge pancakes were uncooked. Unfortunately, my order was to go, and I had no time to return. You pay for what you get. It was expensive but I'm okay to pay for a clean kitchen. Just wish the pancakes were cooked thoroughly.

We should have figured it was going to be a bad experience when the host was telling certain people, minorities, that the wait was going to be 30 mins, which gave them 1 1/2 to eat because they close at 2p. It took forever to get our food. There was 5 in our party and four of us received our food but it was almost 45 mins after that the sandwich was brought to the last person in our party. Between the kitchen and where the waiters were waiting for the food was so unorganized. Waiters were just going in circles and while they were all over the place the manager was not checking to see how things were. I give it a really bad review. Five thumbs down!! This will not let me post unless I pick a star.

100% recommend this place! Everything is delicious! You cannot order wrong...just an fyi, sausage Patties are tough and dry.

I heard good things about the food, especially the oversized pancakes. The service was a 3/10 the food was decent but our order did not arrive at the same time. And the smallest amount of syrup served with the biggest pancake! Doesn't make sense. I was not pleased with this experience at all!

The service was quick and the food was very good. Tried the biscuits and gravy was very filling. And the potatoes were delicious. It was a old country meal, for a hard working man.

Moms pancakes were enormous and delicious! The 5 of us adults only had the appetite for half of the 2 stack.

I invited a friend to try this restaurant. We went mid-week around 11am. There were only four other customers, yet our waitress acted like the place was full. It took her 10 minutes just to bring us menus and water. My friend was wearing a hijab and the waitress made a comment about how uncomfortable it must be to wear it! When my friend said she could not eat pork and asked for a suggestion-she said all the dishes had pork and maybe we should go somewhere else! We were shocked! We told the waitress that we had wanted to try this restaurant and we had limited time. We placed our order. After 30 minutes, I had to go look for her to ask her to check on our food. I saw her put the order in after I had talked to her! It took another 10 minutes to bring us eggs. The food was mediocre, and the service was horrible. We will not be back. Go to Crackers and Co instead!

What a great find! Great service, friendly and attentive staff. Excellent food. Our table had a short stack of pancakes that were short as requested but as wide as a chop plate! Leftovers goin a pizza size box. Also had a Reuben sandwich- well made and lean.

Unrelated to service but saw a customer leaving wearing a confederate shirt.. Of all the open clean tables the waiter chose to sit us at a messy table that he quickly wiped off with a wet rag leaving us with a sticky wet table. Ordered food and wait about 30 min (place wasn't packed) And there's no issue with waiting especially at a sit down place but once we received our food it was cold... I ordered the French toast but it was cold and the strawberries were warm. My partner ordered chicken and waffles, also cold, with powder sugar on his chicken. Huh?? Also didn't receive silverware till after cold food arrived... Food was mid as well

Food was decent, ambiance was nice but customer service wasn't great, the waitress didn't listen to my sister, took the order wrong and was walking away when my sister was still talking, she was in to much of a hurry to help the next table. It was a waste of $100 dollars, the potatoes were not fresh, they were gray and it was overall a horrible experience. I would not recommend this place.

Have been here a few times, each time the quality seems to go down. It's ok good but a bit pricey. Had the corn beef hash, the first time it was good , however the quality has gone down.

Had a great time visiting this location. I've eaten at other locations but never this one. So I give this place a thumbs up too!! I had the carnitas scramble which had veggies, moist flavorful carnitas and eggs in it. I had ordered the sauce on the side just in case I didn't like it but I totally did. It comes with a tortilla too. This may be my new go to dish here. It was excellent!!

Good food, i had the chicken fried steak. I love it! Service is great, friendly and helpful staff. Homey ambiance
