What a beautiful restaurant with spectacular views! Came in on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch and was seated right away on the upper floor for those views of the beautiful blue ocean. Sarah was our server and she took excellent care of us. Cute little bar on the third floor as well as the first floor. A lot of seating choices everywhere in the restaurant. My skinny margarita was nice and cold and refreshing and made perfectly. I had to order the two timin’ Tuesday’s with the buy one burger and get one free. They’ve got some very unique delicious burgers. I enjoyed the Irishman and the Frisco burger, and they were both perfectly cooked & served medium, and with all the toppings and sauces were very satisfying and flavorful. French fries were nicely crispy, and plenty of them. Prices are average. I highly recommend this establishment. Hope to be back soon!

The food was great! Best grilled cheese ever. My husband loved the fish and chips. The french fries taste like they are made freshly in house. Great views of the beach and people watching. We were allowed to have our dog on the patio! Lots of TVs to watch football games and great drink menu.

Great location on Hermosa Beach. Addition to the pier and other shops and bars. Service is good and fairly quick. Chase made sure our drinks were filled and did a good job with the orders. We ate lunch outdoors here. Great location for people watching. Service was good. Food was a mixed bag. Our brisket sandwich was excellent, but our fish and chips were too heavily battered - they reminded me of corn dogs. Fries were limp and the slaw heavy on poppyseeds.

Went on a Tuesday evening, downstairs not busy but top floor was. Kay was a great waitress and very attentive. Food was OK and beer was expensive ($15 for a tall IPA, $10 for a pint). Great sunset views from the lower deck.

The area was beautiful and this tavern is right by the beach which is an amazing plus. Even though it was slightly busy there was no hostess and we were told to sit anywhere we wanted, which turned into a 10+ minute wait until we were greeted at our table. We ordered drinks a the fry sampler, then the blt with avocado and the prime dip. Service: 4/10 Never really got any customer service. Never asked how our food was, I had to go ask the bartender for water and he was talking to someone who looked like a manager and he made me feel like I was being rude to interrupt their conversation. When I ordered my daughter’s sandwich I had to keep the server from running off and told her I wanted something too. She seemed very overwhelmed. When we asked for refills on drinks they didn’t come until we were ready to leave. Fries: 5/10 The fries itself were good, there were three metal cub like containers loaded with fries. but the the two that were suppose to be flavored just had a bunch of Cajun seasoning thrown on one and a glob of garlic parm on another, they didn’t even take the time to toss them together. The dips weren’t very good at all. BLT: 7/10 The BLT looked good and tasted good as well, but my daughter became very sick later in the night. Prime Rib: 8/10 Au jus: 0/10 The prime rib sandwich was really good, but the au jus they cooked in it, and the side dish of it tasted like they poured lighter fluid in it. My prime rib was ruined because of this. Most likely won’t come back to this specific spot and I was really looking forward to coming here. Other food establishments over there are much better.

We are a regular in this place; however, they are highly inconsistent with their services and customer orientation. - They publicize their "Football Deals" (attached). If you go there before any of the games start, your drinks are not included under the happy hour. You have to pay the full price. They do not mention or say this anywhere on the menu or their flyers. - Our kids usually order the burgers from the kids menus. They ask to make it happen "chilly". 99% of the time the request is fulfilled. This time our waitress told us that we have to pay an additional $2.5/person to make the fries chilly. When we told her we come every week and that this is happening for the first time, she said it is mentioned on the menu. We asked her to show it. She spent literally 5 minutes going through the menu and couldn't find it. We asked for the manager. Even the manager told us it is in the menu, but it is not... - We asked for the Fresh Orange juice they publicize also in the kids menu. However, our very "helpful" waitress told us they do not have any fresh juices because there are no oranges left in the kitchen. She offered us ready to drink minute maid lemonade. We also raised this to the manager and he told us they have oranges and he squeezed them himself. They just blatanly lie to their guests not to make any extra effort. All in all, we now try to avoid this place at all cost. Question their menu items, prices before you order. If they are doing this to a regular customer, I don't know what would happen to foreigners or tourists.

Happy hour was great! I didnt get a picture of the tacos or the Korean BBQ but they were amazing! Got ourselves some wine and the Hennessy lemonade 👏

I usually hit up Hennessey's on Thursday after volleyball and I normally have a great time. It's a self-seat establishment but the waiters always notices us pretty quickly and will start catering to our needs. All the servers are super friendly and I always feel taken care of. One of the best parts of the is that it tends to be clean and a great vibe as you are literally right next to the beach. I always go on Thursdays night where there have a $6 smash burger deal that comes with fries. In 2024 it's a great deal and the quality of the burger is a great. It comes out fresh and had a good meat that is salted very well. Only giving it a 4 instead of a 5 because I haven't tried other items. However I'll be back!

I had never been to a Hennessey's Tavern before. To be honest, I was expecting the menu to be limited to Irish food only. I was pleasantly surprised by their wide variety of American based options. I ordered the pulled pork BBQ sandwich, and it was tasty. But the reason I'm leaving a 5 star review is on account of the location. This Hennesey's in Hermosa Beach is the closest restaurant to the pier and to the water, and the window seating from the upper level is simply incredible! They also have outdoor seating at the lower level, and best of all, you can choose your own table! I've yet to visit a water side restaurant in California that offers both the excellent view *and* your choice of seat. I'm sure there are others, but this was my first. If you like outdoor seating with ocean + beach views, and you happen to be walking the Hermosa Beach pier area, this is your spot!

it was a Sunday afternoon so you could expect that it was busy cause of football season. We sat there for a while before anyone assisted us. But the food came out and it was pretty good. I give the Irish nachos (potato wedges) a 10/10 those were

The view is very nice. We went up to the bar area on the 2nd floor. The food is not bad but it's not amazing either. The service was great. Our waitress is very nice. It's expected bar type of food. Pricing wise it was a bit expensive, however the amazing view makes up for it.

Had a wonderful time here! Had lunch here the other day and it was very nice! We ordered a bunch of appetizers, a salad, a burger and a couple of BLTAs. The food was delicious and meet our expectations! The atmosphere is very nice. Looking around everyone was enjoying their time sitting in the sun and enjoying life. The service was ok. First time we have ever seen someone come by and take your cream and sugar away after you get done using them. Kind of odd, but oh well. My wife even wanted a refill on her coffee and had to remove the cream and sugar before the person took it away. But it was a nice time other than that. A fun place to meet friends and watch the sunset. The paddy burger is very messy but delicious. The steak special was tasty but not fork tender.

I came here for drinks with a friend. We didn't have any food. I had a Prosecco Bellini as they didn't offer the wine I wanted. My friend had the summer spritz. Drinks were okay. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Ambiance is decent. Our server was good. He continued to check in on us and asked if we needed anything. I would come back next time I'm in the area to try some food. It's also dog friendly!

Everything was great. Joe gave the best service! Everything we tried was good. We arrived at happy hour on Friday. I had a few blackberry margaritas. They were hand crafted and delicious. The happy menu offerings were generous. Irish coffees were not only beautiful to look at they were very tasty. I learned a few things about making them. I'm turning my Irish Coffee game up for sure next time the hubby asks for one.

Im usually not one to write reviews but our recent experience at Hennessy Tavern was terrible. horrible service and even worse food.

The good: The host was friendly and welcoming. Ambience is unbeatable. Dogs are allowed. The eh: The food (Reuben sandwich) was sub-par. It was like Carl Buddig meat from the grocery store (slimy, low grade, and thin) I informed the server it wasn't good when she asked me how it was. The $18 Mac n Cheese was drowning in cheese.. not enough noodles. So it was like cheese soup. Server did nothing to help with the situation or ask why. The brisket sandwich was amazing. Server's nails were cute, don't get me wrong, but they were way too long.. thinking about hygiene here. And touching food and drinks. I ordered a marg with no salt. Ordered another and there was salt on the rim. I asked if they had oyster shooters, and she had a condescending tone answer "this is an Irish bar" (I get it, but I genuinely wasn't sure if they had it so why not ask) Overall.. overpriced and subpar service.

The location is perfect, right at the beach walk, along with indoor, outdoor, and rooftop seating. It is a spot for locals and visitors, as I could tell from the patrons that were sitting around me. There are a couple of televisions and the staff is really nice. They have a couple of draft beers and a decent liquor selection. Try the calamari, it comes with 3 different dipping sauces which added the already delicious appetizer. The fish and chips are food. Four fish filets on a bed of fries, along with coleslaw and fries. This place is worth a visit, and also a return visit.

We decided to check this place out for a viewing event. They had a section set up for us right inside the bar with a decent sized TV for us all to watch the game. While we had a fun time with the other supporters at the bar, the service was severely lacking. The bartender himself was on point, but the servers were non-existent. It seemed like the poor food runner was having to do everything herself. We tried to flag down the server multiple times to order food and drinks and she would just walk on by, not even glancing over. We eventually gave up and made our way over to the bar to ask for help. The drinks we were able to get from the bartender were poured well. The food was...OK. We had omelettes and then ordered some calamari and onion rings at half time. This would be basic bar food....nothing special. Loved that they have a decent parking situation and were super close to the beach.

Great spot right on the beach! On the last night of summer, we visited Hennessey's in Hermosa Beach for their tavern on the beach. Closest restaurant to the Hermosa pier. Beer, burgers, fries. Everything tasted good. Volleyball, lifeguards. Sunset for free. Thank you Hennessey's - excellent service and great views. We took friends visiting us here, we were lucky to get a spot up on the second floor - pro top: came on a non-event weekend, and got there before the evening crowd arrived.

I love to location, the views and the bartenders. BUT the waitresses need to trim their nails, my GF was a little icked out by this one older server. Otherwise, $6 Smashburgers on Thursdays!

We came on a Thursday during $6 smash burger Thursday and it was delicious! Fries and a double smash burger is a great deal. The service was also wonderful, Priscilla was so nice! Ambiance is also good it is your usual sports bar.

I went here to drink Irish coffee. It was very tasty and the staff were very friendly. The second floor has a great view of the beach, and the first floor is also open. It's a cozy bar. If it's cold, try their Irish coffee. It warms you up just the right amount. It's delicious!

Met up with a big group of friends here for a mini reunion. Plenty of seating for us. Our waitress was super friendly, accommodating and attentive as was the bartender. We order all sorts of foods - chicken sandwich, fries sampler, chicken fingers, steak dip sandwich, salad, cheeseburger, etc. Good bar food. Hennessey's lemonade was a yummy cocktail.

Our first time in Hermosa last September brought us to Hennessey's and upon amazing food, service, and views, my husband and I came back during our recent trip last month. In September, the weather was beautiful and we stopped for lunch with 3 more people on our party. The patio seating was perfect and gave us a perfect chance to take in the views of the beach, The Strand, and a ton of people watching. The food was so good as was the service! Last month when we returned, we were staying in Hermosa this time and it was raining off and on all day so we decided to order food to go and ate it back at the hotel instead. Ordering online was easy and the restaurant was only a block away from our hotel. We were greeted quickly upon entering and given our food. Once again, the food was amazing. Fish and chips and the honey siracha chicken burger with house made chips. My husband and I both split the meals and each exceeded expectations. This is now one of our go-to spots in the tri-cities area and realized they have another location in Manhattan Beach that we pass by all o the time as well as other locations through Southern CA and Las Vegas. Highly recommend!

French toast is de-li-sious! 5 stars. Great spot to watch the game, service is excellent, ambiance is great. Highly recommended.

Moo Cluck Oink burger never disappoints! Service is solid and keeps it 100 when it comes to recommendation. Chill beachy vibes and solid food and drinks. What more could you ask for?!

Food was good, but not great. Patio dining so close to ocean was very nice. Service was very good. Comparing it to other options in the area I think it was a good choice.

Location is great with a wonderful view of the sunset (from the second floor). Service is usually good with some servers being better than others. There is the Latina lady that has been here for a while and she's amazing and probably the best service there. Food is ok, it used to be better and the menu has been cut down a lot. Bloody Mary is not as good as before, I barely finish one along with a lot of water. We used to love coming here often, time has changed.

came for the sunset but unfortunately you can't really see it from outside due to the pier buildings. Food seemed reasonably priced and was ok. If your order outside the cheap drink specials that's where they get you. Very expensive. and not always transparent with the prices. Waiter came over when we were done and just told us the amount without providing a printed billwe waited for an itemization. We're shocked at the price. Also we finished our food and ordered two more drinks and the dirty plates were just left on our table even though the waiter came by a few times. Low budge service. Can be ok if you order wisesly ie specials only

Decided to come down to the beach for the day and had lunch here. Sat outside- great atmosphere on The Strand. The food here was pretty good. We all had a burger of choice and the brisket sandwich. I had the Dublin burger, which had bacon and Irish cheddar- very good. Had it with onion rings, very tasty, crunchy. I also ordered their special Paloma drink that had squirt in it- didn't like it. We got the Bavarian pretzel with beer cheese and mustard- it was actually 3 smaller pretzels/ but delicious! Our server was really nice and very attentive. The overall service was good and pretty quick.

The location is great and the upstairs provides a fantastic view. The service was excellent and the ambiance was pretty good. The first issue that would have made almost everything else not important was that the sun in the afternoon was blaring on almost every table until sunset. This is easily fixable with sunshades but for some reason there were none - only what looked like wind blockers. I suppose with the view, if they made it more comfortable to sit there, people would stay too long. The drinks tasted slightly watered down but since we all ordered martinis, we wrote it off as shaken melted ice. I still caught a nice buzz after one drink (on an empty stomach). The burgers were perfectly cooked but my blue cheese and bacon burger was more like blue cheese dressing and bacon bits. It wasn't bad but also not great. I would come back but intend to also try nearby locations.

Great time at Hennessey's in Hermosa Beach this afternoon. Since it is Tuesday it's "buy a burger and get one free". I mean burgers are not cheap anymore. The burger plus fries was around 15 bucks so getting one free was fantastic. I was on my bike and had no way to carry it home. But the server, Piper, came over to help with a big smile on her face. She packaged this thing up perfectly in the box, taped it shut, and taped it again in a paper bag (see picture). I got it home safely for a great lunch for tomorrow. Thanks!

Yet another spectacular meal from Hennessy's! We typically get breakfast but decided to try burgers. What a great choice! Our server Shelby was friendly, attentive & helpful. I'm always impressed by the cleanliness of this place and consistency of the food.

The service was ok, the food was also okay. I dont think i would come back as they do need alot of improvement.

Had breakfast here on Sunday morning with some friends and family. I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs with potatoes and sourdough toast. The restaurant was packed, but our food arrived fairly quickly. Let me say at the outset that our server Molly was terrific. The food, well that was a different story. The eggs were cooked perfectly and were enjoyable. The toast was fine as well. The potatoes looked like they were poured out of a bag that was purchased in the frozen food section of the local grocery store. They were flavorless and really unappealing. The corned beef hash, while it looked good, was also bland and quite disappointing. Overall, it was a very lackluster meal. Would I go again? Maybe because of the location. But, I certainly will order something else.

Great drinks and breakfast. Also yummy deserts. The service was fast and the location next to the pier is also great. Fish and chips were great on our first visit and as a woman from Ireland that's important lol. Would recommend

Nice outdoor deck on the second floor. The food is very mediocre. The champagne is good, & only $20 on weekends. Good service.

We stopped her for a bite to eat after a walk on the strand. The tables were kind of dirty and sticky and it just didn't feel clean. I probably would have moved on if my friend wasn't with me sonwe stayed. Our server was great and attentive so 5 stars for that, my salty dog was good too but didn't taste like fresh squeezed juice as advertised. The club sandwich looked like it was thrown together by a 5 year old, kinda like the prepackaged ones you get at the grocery store. The mushroom Swiss burger was ok. It was not medium rare as requested and tasted like a frozen patty...bummer. 5 stars for people watching and good service and nice people!

Drinks and views and service are amazing but I got "Baja fish tacos " and they taste like straight vinegar and it's not Baja at all has like a wanna be vinegar aioli sauce it was not good came with 2 me and my friend couldn't eat the other and made our stomach hurt

We ate at the patio and someone brought 2 dogs whose fur kept blowing on our food. We couldn't eat after that and when we brought it up with the waiter he didn't care and took no responsibility. Unprofessional service not dealing with health hazards. They didn't even talk to the group to move inside with the dogs so we had to leave ourselves.

We were up until today faithful Thursday Happy Hour patrons. The servers know us. The Elysian Space Dust vendors were introduced to us. Well today the $6 Smash Burger was raw so much so I had to use a napkin to soak the blood. I didn't want to complain but after we paid I mentioned I had ordered the burger well done. Our server Penelope said well it's $6 they make it one way!!! Um...uncooked? Her attitude worsened the situation and mind you they were not busy. Our weekly visit amounts to $200 or so a month. We have decided to keep.it in our budget and not yours. Bye Tish...it WAS fun.

Do not go here if you want to have a good night out on the pier. I was harassed by the bartender and the waitress that was humping his leg at the bar. So much so that I was accosted by a security guard and another goon, who joined in to take my cc from me to charge it. This happened after the bartender decided to call for security because he told me they we closing..... at 10:30! Hahaha Don't believe me? Stop by.

I was there earlier today and I wished to order the Smashburger you have advertised on the table. The advertisement said Thursday Smashburger six dollars and it said regularly priced $16.50. So I ordered and they said they only have that Smashburger on Thursdays . The ad didn't specify that you only sell the burger on Thursday because it said the regular price is $16.50 I think you should offer that burger every day on your menu and do a six dollar Thursday special if you want. I was not able to order the Smashburger, but they did give me a version of it without the sauce.. was just ok . The ambience was nice as a beach side cafe with ocean views would have.

Cool place, silent environment mid-mornings. Really nice upstairs where you can sit and enjoy a drink/bite. Food was okay, I got a burger that was their speciality. It was a bit too much bread. The staff was friendly and I'd say the highlight was how quickly the food was our. Great spot if you're looking I'm for a quick bite on the pier. Fair price point.

This is probably the worst restaurant in the South Bay...I hate the fact that they take up such a good space on pier, because absolutely everything sucks here. The food is absolutely terrible and the drinks are worse. Today I came in because my family wanted to try this place, I got a salad and I'm not sure how they can mess up a salad but they did. It was a bed of greens with non seasoned grilled chicken and that's all, the description included more things in it but I guess they ran out of ingredients or just forgot. I've given this place so many opportunities and I think this it for me. The only people who I see here are older people who can't let go of the old South Bay and who don't care for improvements. Anyway, try vista or another place on pier but I would avoid this place.

Yeah, you don't need good food when you have this location. Go to drink, watch people and sunset. Eat elsewhere. ‍

Stumbled upon this place trying to find a nice spot to enjoy the view, grab a bite and get some work done. We headed upstairs, it was a bit chilly but there were plenty of heaters that helped. The blueberry margarita is DELICIOUS!!! We started with artichoke dip, it was very good! The Baja fish tacos were also very delicious. And again can't beat the view!

Just had a yummy breakfast at Hennesseys's over looking the Rams draft activity. Always such nice people working there. I love their breakfast sandwich! The best in town. On another note, about a month ago we had their smash burger on a Thursday night. That burger was the best I've ever had. We were there with 4 others who also ordered and loved their smash burger! When I want to splurge on fun food, that's my burger. And they make great cocktails to go with it.

I chose this place to watch the Superbowl when it was being played in LA and the Rams were playing Bengals, so very busy area for the home team! Although it was fairly packed, I was able to find a spot at the upstairs bar, which had perfect views of the beach as it was the closest restaurant to the beach and pier. The bartender was busy but very sociable and helpful. I did eventually order some nachos, which I devoured fairly quickly. The day was perfect to sit outside and the patrons were all friendly, even though I was a Bills fan and not rooting for the Rams. Great experience and would love to come back for a full meal outside!

Always a good time!! Happy hour is great and the view is like no other!! Evan is the best bartender. Definitely my go to place!

Skip it..... had a burger and drink.... burger was over cooked. The whole place seemed dirty. Seltzer water tasted like it came from hyperion sewage plant. waitresss had long gross nails and had an attitude

Claire provided baller service and the bartender Joe cooked up some fire cocktails. The Busser also was super chill and hooked it up with water refills. 10/10 coming back again. Mushroom burger was heat and my boy thoroughly enjoyed his pretzel burger. (2 for 1 on Tuesday slaps). Views on the third floor are peak. One of the best picks on the Hermosa strip

Best chicken sandwich of my life!! Perfect batter perfect crispiness!! Yum!! We were a party of about 10 ladies. Everyone's food looked amazing! The service was good, too. The young lady was very efficient. I did not expect there to be a DJ but there was and he was jammin'! I appreciate the staff and management allowing us to have a boogie session! It great fun to top off the great food! We'll definitely return and highly recommend!
