Herangtunet Mountain Lodge Norway

My sister and I booked a 2 night stay via their website. When we arrived we were the only guests at the hotel. It is located very remote and it was snowing. The parking is not next to the hotel. We had previously reserved dinner. We got not information about the menu previously( they have every day a 3 three course menu, no options to switch anything). The food was ok but we expected a more Scandic approach. The room, which was clean but basic, was located above he dining room and when we entered the room we could clearly smell the air from the fire place downstairs. We tried to air it out but had to sleep the whole night with the window open since we were afraid of carbon monoxide poisoning! Next morning at breakfast, we told the employee from the hotel about it but she did not care. Breakfast was also the worst we had in Norway. Almost no choices and everything very basic. The quality of the products were certainly not top shelf either. Second day we barely ate anything and opted to go somewhere else. The hotel at night is vacant ( if you are the only guest) and it feels very unsafe especially as a woman to stay in a huge empty house in the middle of the forest with an unlocked front door. When I told this to the owner, I got again no reaction. Also the fire place air entering the guest room is an absolute no go since it is a major health hazard.

This was my favorite hotel during our two week trip to Norway. The location in the mountains of the Vadres region is stunning. This is a cozy and comfortable mountain lodge hotel. The staff are kind and helpful. The breakfast is delicious. The beds are comfortable. All in all, this is an excellent hotel. I will book here everytime I travel to Norway.

When life is overwhelmingly busy and even the smallest decisions feel impossible, it feels like nothing short of a miracle to stumble upon a hidden gem of a hotel tucked away in the woods—with rooms available! Thank you, Danielle, for taking our reservation on a whim. We weren’t sure whether we’d stay one or two nights, but the moment we stepped out of the car and caught our first glimpse of Herangtunet Boutique Hotel, we knew without a doubt—it had to be two. We were warmly welcomed by Anne-Mona, who runs the hotel’s restaurant with her partner, Jonasz. Her hospitality was truly world-class. The rooms are cozy and stylishly decorated. Herangtunet is made up of several old houses clustered together, and while we expected a bit of creaking from the floors and walls, we were pleasantly surprised by how wonderfully peaceful our room was. One of the highlights of our stay was dinner at the restaurant. The ambiance was serene, with fresh flowers and live candles on every table. Every dish on the menu featured local ingredients, and the descriptions alone were mouthwatering. Each plate that arrived looked like it belonged in a Michelin-starred restaurant—beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. What a treat! Fair warning: you can expect a call from us on December 23 as we inevitably panic trying to recreate your pork belly.

We have been to this fantastic place for the second time, in summer and last winter after Christmas. It is a magical place. The rooms are very nice with a special decoration (perfect also when you are with a child), the food delicious (we all eat the same dinner but the Chef made a special gluten free meal for us), the atmosphere is warm, the team is very nice, the private spa just great. Thank you Danielle and your team for these special moments. A must go.

This is a wonderful small hotel in the mountains of the Valdres region. The location is beautiful and the lodge is a quintessential cozy and comfortable space. The rooms and breakfast were excellent. We were in the region to visit Fagernes (about 20 mins away) and it was well worth the drive to stay in this hotel.

Spent two nights here in the Dutch room. Loved the theme decor. The room itself a bit tight but has a nice balcony and was actually quite comfortable. A hiking trail very close by as well as a Joker. the breakfast spread and the tapas for dinner very filling and satisfying. Danielle and her staff efficient and friendly. Definitely recommended!

Wonderful, unique and cozy place with super nice rooms and great / friendly service. Perfect for unwhinding after a mountain trip. The Norwegian room was really nice. Really something different. Warm recommendation and would love to stay longer.

Booked a room there for a special occasion. Got a call on our way saying that we were double booked. No sorry, no compensation. One of the poorest customer services I've ever experienced. Answer to the owner: Was my wife that booked the room a few years ago.
