We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. Unfortunately, parts of our experience in terms of service and maintenance were disappointing. During our stay, the housekeeping department was not informed that the room was occupied. Several times they knocked on the door, and on some occasions even opened it without knocking first – which was unpleasant and completely unacceptable, especially since we were staying with a small baby. The room was full of mosquitoes coming from several areas, particularly from the ducted air-conditioning vents in the ceiling. This was a significant nuisance, especially considering we were traveling with a baby. We reported the issue to the reception on the first day, but unfortunately no effective action was taken throughout our stay. The balcony floor was dirty, making it impossible to walk outside barefoot. The chairs and table on the balcony were covered with sticky pigeon-repellent substance, so it was not possible to sit there at all. The safety railing was also covered with the same sticky material – a solution that was clearly ineffective, as I even took a photo showing a pigeon present despite the treatment. On the last day of our stay, an employee knocked on our door and stated that a treatment regarding pigeons had been carried out – a treatment that did not help at all. At first, it was unclear why he was there, as he himself did not know to explain that it involved placing a sticker. Only after I allowed him into the room did I understand that he intended to place a sticker on the balcony door window to inform the next guests that a sticky pigeon-repellent substance had been applied and that they should avoid touching the railing. Additionally, there are “No Smoking” signs around the pool area, but there is no enforcement whatsoever. We had to move several times between seating areas due to guests smoking next to us, without any intervention from the staff. On a positive note, the mineral pools, salt pool, jacuzzi, and sauna facilities were excellent, and there is convenient access to the artificial Dead Sea beach, which was a highlight of our stay.

This was a great place for my friends and I to stay. They had no problem, accommodating three of us in the same room. They were very accommodating about setting up the room with extra linens and towels as soon as we asked. Good service, friendly help, and clean facilities.

First of all, I was greeted by the manager of the hotel by screaming at me, when we unloaded the car as he saw a small barbecue which I wasn’t even intending to bring inside as soon as we arrived, and had to get it out in order to get out my mother’s wheelchair. After his rebuke , I explained to him and he apologized and then told me that we got a five star hotel. Every day one star went down. The coffee maker in our room was broken and didn’t even have a cover for the water. The tissue holder was empty when we got there. I really feel like this could be a nice hotel if they knew how to train their staff. I had a massage and when I told her to make it slower, she told me that she’s been doing this for 30 years, I shouldn’t tell her what to do. This hotel needs training desperately. Now there were one or two staff members that actually greeted me. If they want to see how to train their staff, they should go to Hawaii in Waikiki to the Royal Hawaiian and they’ll see what a five star hotel is and how Staff behavior should be. After all , the manager told me it’s a five star hotel, lol. I didn’t eat the dinner thank G-d just the breakfast which was just piles of food not plated nicely, and I had to bring to their attentions many chipped plates. Unbelievable that they’re putting out broken plates. I won’t go further, but to top it off my mother went to hear the music downstairs and said the singer couldn’t even sing Saturday night and they should get somebody else. They couldn’t even bother to get somebody who knows how to sing. Now there were two good things I had - a very nice facial from Ludmila, which I recommend and I had a very nice worker who right away, made the bed and brought me shoes and water and extra towels and is waiting for my tip which I will give him. I can appreciate when someone knows how to give good service and I definitely will repay them in kind. As for the manager of this hotel good luck, you’re gonna need lots of it! To the owner of the hotel- I would find a new manager. By the way, I’m a spa owner in Jerusalem and I know how to give great customer service. I almost feel like I should be a consultant for hotels here in Israel, lol

The hotel is a 3-star hotel at most. It's not particularly fancy, but it's right on the beachfront, which is very convenient. The food selection isn't great, but you can find something to suit your taste. I was very disappointed by the DECEPTION I received when paying for the hotel: the hotel website states that those with a birthday in the month they're staying at the hotel receive a 15% discount, but I didn't receive that discount. At first, the staff insisted there was no discount, but when I opened the website and showed them that it said 15% birthday discount for club members, they told me it was only for SPECIAL club members. When I insisted that it said "for club members" without specifying any special status, they told me they couldn't do anything and that if I was dissatisfied, I should contact a higher-up (whom they couldn't find). I was left with an extremely unpleasant experience of being deceived.

During my stay I saw an employee stand over a very old man (that I know, is very quiet, humble, courteous) in a threatening way talking very bad, I was shocked and informed a manager, and the manager replied to me in a dismissive manner. Also, the electricity in my room suddenly shut down, when I was in the bathroom.

Wonderful 2 nights vacation, food is great, staff is very friendly, the hotel has is own private beach that was clean and well maintained., excellent value for your money! Definitely will return 🙏

Our family's stay at the Hod Hotel was unfortunately marred by poor service and significant hygiene issues. The experience started on a bad note when our room wasn't ready until 4:00 PM, despite check-in being at 3:00 PM. There was also no staff available to help us with our luggage. ​The condition of the room was the biggest problem. It was not properly cleaned. The sheets were dirty, and there was visible mold in the bathroom and on the AC unit. The balcony was so neglected and dirty it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time, making it completely unusable. This level of uncleanliness is not what we expect from a hotel.

We came to the Herbert Samuel Hod Dead Sea Hotel to celebrate my birthday and enjoy a relaxing spa day. The spa treatments were outstanding—the therapists were warm, professional, and made the experience truly special. The pool and facilities were clean, calm, and very relaxing. Overall we had a wonderful time but I had a major issue with the following situation: We added lunch on to our day package using our miluim voucher, and that’s where the experience unfortunately took a turn. Before our treatments, we wanted to get drinks at the spa bar, but it was closed. We were told to go upstairs to the hotel bar. When I asked about cocktails, the woman working there snapped that she doesn’t make cocktails, only the bartender coming at 3 does. When I came back to pay for my drink and my husband’s coffee, she rudely said “I know!” when I pointed him out—unnecessarily sharp for a hospitality setting. We then went straight to lunch. I was wearing swim shorts, a shirt over my bathing suit, and a spa robe —modest and very typical attire for a spa guest, especially when lunch is part of the spa day package. There were no signs or staff at the entrance to say otherwise. Everyone there was in very causual clothing, shorts, jeans and t-shirts, nothing formal. Mid-meal, the same woman from the bar came over and told me I couldn’t wear a swimsuit or robe there. A manager followed and gave me a difficult time in front of everyone, claiming he had already told me that (he hadn’t—he wasn’t even there when we arrived). I was embarrassed and shocked at how poorly it was handled. The spa staff later said when we told them what happened, “Wouldn’t one think for themselves that it’s not appropriate?” only after when we said our issue is with how it was handled, she agreed. But in many nice hotels in Israel, it’s totally normal to eat in spa attire if you’re coming straight from the pool or treatment. This hotel even had an outdoor enclosed seating area off the pool—they could have easily and politely offered that option instead of making me feel like I wasn’t being modest. It’s a shame, because the actual spa experience was really lovely, but the lack of hospitality, poor communication, and unnecessarily harsh behavior during lunch really clouded what should have been a 100% relaxing birthday.
