Our stay at Heredad de Unanue was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed like family. The owners and staff are incredibly warm and hospitable people who genuinely care about their guests - they made us feel right at home.
The property itself is beautiful with fascinating history, and our room was very comfortable. What really stood out was the exceptional service - whenever we needed anything, they were immediately there to help with the warmest attitude.
The location is perfect if you're looking for a peaceful retreat just outside San Sebastián while still being close enough to the city center. We highly recommend Heredad de Unanue to anyone visiting the area - you won't be disappointed!

We had already spent 7 fantastic days in the Basque country in Bilbao and Logrono and the 4 nights we had booked in the hotel were the icing on the cake. Everything was perfect. The hotel is amazing, the owners and staff are so helpful and lovely. We were lucky to arrive on a day the chef was in, so we were able to experience the tasting menu which was just amazing and definitely as good as a Michelin starred restaurant without the price tag. The location of the hotel was beautiful and we appreciated being just outside of San Sebastian but with the advantage of being able to easily get the local bus into the town which was both cost efficient and easy. We did a quick trip over to Biarritz and again used public transport as we didn't want to take our hire car across the Border. Having breakfast out on the terrace was lovely and the quality of the food was outstanding. The bedroom was lovely and we appreciated the unlimited access to water, teas and coffee. We were given a small memento at the end of our stay which was appreciated. We have stayed in many hotels over the years and this is definitely one of our favourites.

Heredad de Unanue feels more like visiting family than staying at a hotel. The owners welcome you with genuine warmth, and every detail — from the beautifully restored rooms to the peaceful surroundings — shows great care and love. It’s a perfect mix of rustic charm and modern comfort. You can also enjoy a lovely dinner on-site, prepared with the same heart and attention to detail. Breakfast is wonderful, and the hosts’ local tips made our visit unforgettable. A peaceful, elegant retreat that feels like home.

We review the places we've been to so others can have our impression on them.
We like to think others do the same.
We decided on Unanue because of the reviews and we were not disappointed.

The room was very nice. The location is excellent and quiet.
the courtesy space is wonderful.
The restaurant (dinner) was very good as was breakfast.
The suggestions and advices were spot on.
If we are ever in the region we shall try to stay here again.

Spent a week in Basque area last week and Heredad de Unanue Hotel was a real highlight. On the edge of town, surrounded by apple and kiwi orchards, the old stone building has been completely and tastefully renovated. The people who own and run the hotel could not have been more helpful. We ate at the hotel one evening and had an outstanding meal prepared by a local chef long experienced in Michelin star restaurants. We feel very lucky to have found such a gem.

My family stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it. The hosts are like a caring family. Even going to the extraordinary effort of arranging a fishing license at the town hall! They saw after every detail, helping us arrange amazing dinners both on the property and at top restaurants in San Sebastian. The outdoor terrace is a paradise for breakfasts and dinners. Lots to do in the area and top notch recommendations from the hosts. Will definitely come back.

My family rented this hotel out for 1 week. It is a beautiful and serene home. The rooms were incredibly clean, the breakfasts were delicious—endless jamon, fresh croissants, fruit, eggs made to order, etc. The dinners prepared by a Michelin star chef were immaculate. Beyond this, the service was incredible. The owners were kind and accommodating. We are so grateful for our stay here.

Yelp
Completely agree with the first reviewer. This hotel has been open for only about a month and they did an amazing job with the decor. Staff are friendly and made us loose leaf green tea before we left. The bed was comfortable and ended up sleeping 10 hours :) Highly recommended.
