"Co-founder and Chef Felix Zhou originally hails from southwest China sets the tone at this hip “fast-casual” restaurant, where Edison bulbs hang over a long communal wooden table and diner queue up for counter service. The no-frills menu billboards could easily stunt-double in a 1950s snack shack, except for dishes like Dan Dan noodles, salmon bowls with yuzu citrus dressing, crispy xiao long bao and stir-fried bok choy. A local favorite remains the pork belly bao with kimchi daikon , crispy onion and hoisin sauce, adding a tangy twist. Heritage Asian Eatery’s style may be breezy and straightforward, but the dishes are full of delicious nuance. In early 2019, the restaurant opened a second location in the Mount Pleasant area (382 W Broadway)."

this place has the cooollest dark green and gold aesthetic / interior design !! the desserts were for sure the best part. the brownie was DELICIOUSSS, it was super warm, had a really good crunch from the panko coating, not overly sweet, and went perfectly with cold ice cream. i am just a sucker for warm desserts paired with ice cream. the black sesame balls had a super thick, chewy outer layer that was a subtle pairing with the sweet black sesame filling. it was super good was some milk. i got the bbq plate with all three meats and substituted the rice with thick egg noodles, and it was pretty delectable. the meat isn’t as high quality and juicy as some other bbq places in specialty richmond restaurants for example, but they definitely weren’t bad either. some bites—especially the pork belly—were nice and fatty which i really liked. both sauces that came with it (ginger scallion oil and the sweet orange one) went super well with all the meats and definitely added a nice salty and sweet kick. the skin on the chicken and the duck were also good, but there was quite a lot of bone imo, and some pieces were a tad dry. the noodles were really well made too, and it was a nice change of pace from the rice that i usually eat alongside the meats. although i do think the ratio of noodle to meat was a bit off — there was a lot more meat than noodles. the prawn toast was also a highlight, it was super crispy on the outside and had really creamy filling, i would definitely recommend ordering this. all the other appetizers were just okay though.

Google
Love interior design! We ordered sticky rice with mushrooms, fried cauliflowers, shrimp toast, traditional suimai, truffle suimai, Crispy wontons and dan dan noodle to share and absolutely enjoyed every dish! (Forgot to take some pictures of the dishes as we are so excited about the food). Our favourite would be shrimp toast, truffle suimai and fried cauliflowers. We definitely be back to try bao and other bowls. Very friendly staffs

Google
The food was a 9/10. The restaurant is on the smaller side. Also had the boa buns and spring rolls. Only thing I wouldn’t recommend would be the spring rolls. They didn’t taste fresh.

Google
Good food in a nice cost atmosphere with great suggestions from the staff. Quick service and the dishes were great. We also appreciated that there were vegetarian options.

Google
We got the pork belly plate, truffle Siu Mai and the duck bao! Favourite was the pork belly plate. We asked for the less fatty parts so it tasted like BBQ pork. Would go again :)

I was researching interesting Chinese restaurant in downtown to take my non Chinese friend and found this place. I appreciate this kind of modern dim sum restaurant to introduce the food culture to more people. Dim sums were surprisingly good. 1) Eggplants were crispy at the side but soft in the middle. It was very flavourful. 2) Lamb dumplings because we both loved lamb and it was more an unusual combination. It was also full of flavour, and it did not have the lamb smell/ taste that some people could not take. 3) Traditional Siu Mai because it is a classic. It was as good as those you could get from a traditional full menu Chinese dim sum restaurant. 4) Spring roll, another classic dim sum. It was hot and crispy, probably cooked fresh. 5) Black sesame ball, a classic dessert. It was just like what it should be. Crispy, chewy, with hot running black sesame paste inside. I was glad that my friend enjoyed the deal. I would definitely come back again to try other items.

Pleasantly surprised! Place and food looks cool. We got fried chicken bowl, chilli wonton and pea shoots. All were Tasty. I'd order all again. Worth checking out.

Google
Having walked past a gazillion times, I’ve never really paid attention to Heritage. It’s so unassuming. Boy have I been missing out. Small menu, perfectly cooked. There wasn’t anything we ordered we didn’t like. Unlike many, the tastes weren’t sweet, overpowering and cloying, they were fresh, subtle and delicious. For example the broccoli and garlic tastes overwhelmingly of broccoli. The service was prompt and extremely friendly. Heritage will undoubtedly be a regular on my Vancouver go-to list. EDIT: back to Heritage this week and it was as good as I remembered it. So great to find it consistently turns out great food and service. I’ll be dreaming of the BBQ pork on rice for day to come. Succulent and fragrant, it was delicious

Yelp
Came here with coworkers because I wanted noodles and Heritage did not disappoint! The garlic noodles were delicious with char siu pork were delicious and they did not scrimp on pork or eggs. We shared potstickers and those were also very good. Place is very full even after the lunch rush. Service is good and I like the chill, cool interior.

Yelp
Few things to note for this review 1. Used uber eats 2. Ordered 1.5 hours before closing on a Thursday. 3. Picked food up around 15 minutes past time it was ready. With all that being said, I would not tell anyone to eat here and I certainly would not come again. The quality of the food was very subpar. The meats were dried up from either being overcooked or being cooked long before being ordered, rice was dry and the siu mai left very much to be desired. I normally don't eat at restaurants that get rated less than 4 on Yelp but there was a huge difference with google reviews so I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and try it. Let's just say, Yelp was definitely more on target than google reviews.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised with food quality and taste. The gai lan is awesome - topped with some crispy garlic, the sticky rice mushroom dumplings were very good, the spicy crispy tofu had a great chili sauce. The spring rolls were good but a little too mushy inside for my liking, still tasty though. Great little spot for a snack! Hits the dim sum type craving downtown .

Yelp
This place had some good reviews and it was in walking distance from out hotel so we decided to give it a chance. The staff was all very nice and attentive. The food was very good. The noodle soup was very large, it could have easily fed 2 people. I would definitely recommend giving Heritage a try

Yelp
We were downtown and looking for a quick bit. Searched some reviews and this was only a couple blocks from where we were. The menu looked solid and we were hungry! We started with the prawn toast, which was perfectly crispy and loaded with savory goodness. The balance of texture and taste made it a memorable start to the meal and my absolute favorite! The dan dan noodles followed, bringing a satisfying kick of heat and a rich, nutty sauce that complemented the chewy noodles beautifully. I didn't need the extra bbq pork I added... or did I? Regardless, it was very flavourful and the combination of spice and umami was simply spot-on. We also enjoyed the roast duck two ways: with rice and in a fluffy bao. The roast duck with rice was juicy and expertly cooked, while the bao featured tender slices of duck encased in a soft, pillowy bun. Both preparations highlighted the duck's incredible depth of flavor, and everything we tried was super tasty. Also, de-boned some duck and added to the bao to really pack in the protein! This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking a delicious, flavor-packed experience. And no, that is not a randomly added picture. Find it in the restaurant:)

Yelp
Friday night at Heritage Asian Eatery on Pender Street doesn't disappoint with Prawn Toast, Dan Dan Noodles, Roast Duck BBQ Plate and Duck Bao! This is our first time at Heritage Asian Eatery. This Chinese restaurant is an upscale eatery that delivers bold and delicious comfort food with a modern twist. We walked in on a Friday night and we were initially seated at the bar as all the tables were full. After we ordered, a staff approached was that a table freed up so we moved to a table seat with ease. Each dish was just delightful and brought great memories and feels dining with my parents (who are both no longer with us) and siblings just sharing comfort Chinese food. Honestly felt like a nice big hug with each bite. I found out there is a Main Street location that just opened up which is closer to where I reside. As well, I work in North Vancouver and I am waiting for Heritage Asian Eatery to open in Lonsdale Quay!

Yelp
Service was great! We got in right before the rush even without a reservation we were seated very quickly and were given refreshments and menus. The space is small, so the downside is that when the lunch rush entered we kind of had people towering over us a bit near the door just from where we were sitting. There was construction occurring so it was also quite loud. Staff were polite and timely. I am a huge chicken fiend. I will ALWAYS order wings no matter where I go if it's on the menu, haha. Their chicken wings were okay. Great crisp, but it was missing on the flavor. I got the salty fried flavor but nothing was super spectacular about them. Now for my chicken bowl, it was really delicious. The scallion oil poured onto the seasoned crispy chicken was a umami bomb. My boyfriend ordered a duck bowl- I'm not a huge fan of duck but I will say that it was prepared where it wasn't oily or fatty at all which was a pleasant surprise for me.

Yelp
Been here multiple times for work lunches! Very consistent and good food. I will say a tad bit on the expensive side but it is downtown.. Friendly service and surprisingly great take out containers. I'll continue to come here!

Yelp
Thought this place was good and not bad prices for downtown Vancouver. The duck and the pork belly were amazing and I'd get both those on a BBQ again. Ask for the chili oil sauce it elevates everything. I thought the broth in the wonton soup could use a little more flavor, but I enjoyed everything overall. Quick service too!

Yelp
Unfortunately, when my girl and I went on August 27th there was pretty loud construction outside so the place was noisy so we tried to exit faster than we would like. The staff were very nice and accommodating considering the circumstances. I ordered the duck rice bowl and this was some of the best duck I've ever had. The skin was crisp and the duck did not have any fat parts. The boiled greens and egg were a great addition. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Came here because my boyfriend saw a post on instagram raving about their unique dimsum. I didn't end up getting the dimsum because the truffle shiumai that we wanted was sold out when we came. We opted for the dandan noodle and the honey roasted pork instead. The dandan noodle was not what I was expecting at all as I expected more of a dryer noodle rather than a soup. The taste was also completely different than what I would expect from a dandan noodle. This one had a peanut base while I am used to sesame and sichuan peppers, typical of dandan, on my noodles. While it took me by surprise, the taste was quite good, just not sure if I would consider this dandan. The honey roasted pork on the other hand was very juicy and flavorful. It was soft and I love the sweetness in the pork. I'd come back here just for the pork and maybe to try out the chili garlic noodle! The restaurant is a bit on the smaller side but I like that it gave more of an intimate feel. From what I remember, it is pretty quiet inside too, but I did go on a week night.

Yelp
This little venue has been on my radar for some time and I'm glad that I finally made a visit. The restaurant itself is very sexy, it's lightly themed, clean and I very much adore the hanging neon 'Hello Dumpling' sign. Service was fantastic, we were greeted, seated, check on and everything came in a very timely manner. It was a party of two and we ordered prawn dumplings, mushroom bao, marinated eggplant and duck bao. I really appreciated that Heritage has vegetarian options on their menu! I was all about the mushroom bao and could not stop thinking about the slippery eggplant that had so much flavour. I liked it and now have a new sit down casual lunch option in Coal Harbour.

Yelp
We were so delighted walking out of the restaurant. Who knew! We were on our Sunday morning walk to check out a bakery nearby. Hunger stroke in the late morning and I had a craving for dim sum. I was thinking about Victoria but my husband reminded me of Heritage which we had read about recently. We were skeptical about how authentic the food would be given the location but we thought we would support a small business by giving a try and we are both very glad that we did! We ordered 3 items to share: 1. A rice dish with BBQ duck, BBQ park and roast chicken 2. Prawn toasts 3. Wonton in chili oil We walked in around 1130 and there was only one table seated inside. Service was extremely attentive. The server told us what the popular dishes were given it was our first visit. I love prawn toasts. The bread was crispy but soft on the inside. The paste had a nice slightly chewy texture. The heat level of the chili oil bathing the wontons was just right. All 3 meats on the rich plate were very nice. The duck pieces were juicy and tender and had a good layer of fat under the skin. The BBQ pork also had good proportions of fat and meat from belly part of the pig. The roast chicken pieces were flavourful and very tender as well. I'm glad to see that the restaurant was full by the tine we left around 1230.

Yelp
Yelp Review 2023 #249: This little eatery is conveniently across the street from the hotel we're staying at. Heritage's menu is simple and features some of the most popular Asian dishes. They have Xiao long bao, noodles, rice bowls, bao, mantou, etc. Xiao Long Bao: Little dumplings with hot soup and meat inside. Tasty and hot. 4/5 Pork Belly Bowl: Rice topped with shredded veggies and what appears to be taro, marinated pork belly slices, and egg. Comfortingly delicious. The pork belly is flavorful, rich and fatty. 4/5 Duck Bao: Fatty slices of duck with sauce in a pillowy bun. 3.5/5 Pork Belly Bao: Pillowy bun with fatty pork belly goodness. 4/5 Matcha Mantou: You'll find mantou in Chinese restaurants and a few Korean restaurants. They're either steamed or fried served with condensed milk for dipping. But here at Heritage, you get about 5 fried golden brown buns with matcha dipping sauce. A simple dessert. 4.5/5 They have a few tables. Service is great. You come up to the counter to place your order and pay. Find a table and wait to grab your food. The food comes out hot and fresh in 15-20 minutes.

Yelp
We were craving some Chinese comfort food on our visit to rainy Vancouver and we found just the spot! The food is incredible. We had Chinese broccoli with garlic chips, two types of dumplings, sable fish, fried tofu and rice. We added their chili oil and their housemates scallions ginger sauce. My wife stated that if she were to have to choose a last meal on earth, this would've been it the one. I don't disagree. This place is no nonsense and simple a stark contrast to the artisan food. Excellent!!!

Yelp
We were walking in Vancouver downtown, and wanted to visit the German village in Burrad Street, but we had not gotten the tickets and so we strolled around the bay until we got exhausted and were looking to eat some hot tasty food. Heritage Asian eatery came up in our Yelp search and we decided to trudge along and enter this small but modern place. The receiving staff was very polite and seated as immediately. He recommended and we ordered the pork belly and chicken barbeque because this is an Asian Chinese barbeque joint along with rice and bok choy. Once we had that which was fantastic, we had garlic, chilli, noodles, dan-dan noodles, chicken wings, which were extremely tasty, best we had in a long time. All in all of food was fantastic, served hot, and we experienced the best of of modern Asian food. A must visit for anybody in downtown Vancouver.

Yelp
Guys, this place is a hands down 10/10 spot!! The food here is incredible!! The eggplant was my FAVORITE, the 3 meat bbq with rice was mind blowing, the Shu Mai was freshly made and their sesame ball dessert was WHOA!! Try it, you won't regret!!

Yelp
Good quality of food but expensive. Not going to find another quality Chinese restaurant in the area.

Yelp
Something that got me really annoyed was I kept seeing photos of dishes on their Yelp & Google pages but they don't actually exist on their menu. I'm not sure if they are revamping their menu or if it's crossing over with their other location or what but it's definitely misleading and disappointing. (I posted a pic of their menu as of 8/10/22) Overall, the food was decent. I enjoyed the duck and pork bowl. I did not like the Steamed Salted egg buns - I didn't taste any flavor in the filling and it was mostly bun. The cauliflower was OK - could've been more crispy. XLB was lacking in flavor and bland. Overall, just an OK meal for me. Lacking beverage options on the menu too. The pictures on the sites make the food look better than they taste.

Yelp
Heritage Asian Eatery in Vancouver offers some of the best dumplings and spring rolls I've ever tasted. The dumplings are perfectly crafted, with a delicate skin and a juicy, flavorful filling that melts in your mouth. The spring rolls are crispy and packed with fresh, vibrant ingredients. Our host, Tan, was exceptionally welcoming and attentive, enhancing our dining experience with his warm hospitality. The combination of exquisite food and excellent service makes Heritage Asian Eatery a must-visit for anyone in Vancouver.

Yelp
Team was in on our weekly Wednesday office day and everyone was undecided on where to go for lunch. I suggested going to Heritage Asian and off we went. The menu seems to have changed since the last time I came. They have a 1, 2 or 3 BBQ meat bowl and I asked if it was possible to order the 2 item bowl but get one BBQ meat and the other to be eggplant. The server told me I could order the 1 item bowl for $12 and order an eggplant as a side for $3 which would basically be almost the same price as the 2 BBQ meat bowl ($15.75). What I ended up getting was a large portion of eggplant, a steal at $3. The dish was so large that I ended up sharing it with the rest of the table. The soy chicken bowl was also of good portion for $12. Great friendly service that was prompt. I also really appreciate the free homemade chili oil they provide. Solid place for a meal!

Yelp
The food was delicious. We arrived within minutes of their opening and were seated immediately. The wait staff was attentive, but definitely steered us wrong in one instance. Based on the reviews here, we explicitly asked if the dan dan noodles were wet or dry, and were assured that they were dry. Nevertheless they were in a peanut broth and served with a spoon and soy egg and I can't see any way they could be described as dry. Nevertheless, they tasted very good; they just weren't what was described.

Yelp
The food was ok, not bad. However the service from one waiter was very bad. He gave us 2 menus. My son who is 2 years old was playing with one menu by just opening and closing the menu and caused no damage to it. I was at the same time reading the menu he was holding. Suddenly the waiter came by and quickly took away the menu my son was holding in a very rude way. He didn't say a word. We were all shocked and looked at him. It definitely ruined our dinner.

Yelp
I recently went here with some colleagues after a conference on a rainy and bitterly cold day. I wasn't expecting much, but the food here really hit the spot. We ordered drinks to start - my friends had pinot noir and I ordered the freixenet cava which came with a cool bottle. We shared everything family style. We had the XLB to start which was fresh and tasty. The soy sauce was a bit strange to me but otherwise the chili oil gave it a slight kick. The marinated eggplant was so crispy and delicious with a slightly sweetened glaze. We also ordered radish cakes which were tasty. The garlic chili noodles were the star of the show and were excellently flavored. If I'm in the area again I'd definitely like to come back and try some of their other dishes!

Yelp
The menu has changed since I originally started visiting this place, way back when I was working downtown. I can only comment on the chicken bowl really since that's one of the items that has stayed on the menu. I like the chicken bowl a lot. The pieces are deep fried and a little tricky to eat but I like the crispy texture. The ginger scallion sauce tastes pretty nostalgic and like the sauce you get with chicken at Chinese BBQ places. For me it was always a solid option for lunch while working even if it has gone up in price. Prior to the pandemic it was great value, now it's just so-so. The portion is big enough that you'll be full without ordering anything else, though. I'd probably skip the sides, I don't think they're worth it and they're just ok. Ambiance inside is pretty nice, it's clean. I prefer to eat in but if you get the rice bowl to go it's still pretty good.
google avatar

Yelp
The duck noodle soup was flavorless & full of bones. The chilli Ramen with pork belly was great! The dumplings were also missing flavor and fell apart when picking them up. They were also out of a lot of items today.

Yelp
Navigating the entrance to Heritage on Pender took a great deal of effort because the city of Vancouver closes sidewalks when construction takes place. As tourists, we were compelled to cross streets 2 or 3 times just to get to the restaurant. If we were in a rush, that would double our time to get there. However, we found the entrance on the west side of the street and were greeted kindly by the effervescent Amy who was an excellent server. We chose an array of food, enjoying almost everything. The Truffle Prawn Dumplings and the BBQ Duck were excellent, but the Spicy Tofu won first prize. It was delicious. The flavor bomb dumplings needed more flavor, and they were a fizzle, rather than a bomb. Heritage Asian Eatery has some fantastic dishes, and some mediocre dishes. If we were regular diners, we would know what we like, and we could have a fantastic meal. However, as first timers, it was hit and miss. Pricing was not inexpensive, but if Amy is your server, her positive energy will make up for the added cost.

Yelp
Used to be better. I remembered a time when the Chicken Rice Bowl had a perfectly fried chicken thigh that was crispy on the outside and moist in the inside that was cleverly paired with ginger scallion sauce. For those that like a little heat, their homemade hot sauce was the perfect complement to a meal - adding that hint of spiciness. This time around, the chicken was dry, hot sauce was not as good. Sad to see a good restaurant on its way down.

Yelp
Saw this place online and came looking for a quick dinner. A nice small fast casual spot with different types of bowls and other good stuff. We got the pork belly bowl and the matcha mantou to share. The pork belly bowl was huge and good to share for a small dinner. There was a lot of rice and braised pork belly along with some crispy taro, pickled veggies, and a soft boiled egg. Only not so great thing was the egg was a little overdone but it was around an hour left before closing. The matcha mantou are deep fried donuts with a matcha dipping sauce. Nice and warm and the sauce was a perfect compliment and not too sweet. I would definitely come here for a quick lunch and dinner often if I lived near one.

Yelp
Heritage is a partner of the Ritual app. I ordered the dan dan noodle off of the app. I had no idea that this restaurant even existed. I came here to pick up the food and was surprised that the restaurant was super busy during lunch time. The noodle itself was not bad. It was a bit too spicy for me. There was a lot of meat inside the noodle. As a tip, its better off to eat in than to have it to go. Their take out boxes are smaller. Overall, I liked the dan dan noodle. It was very flavorful. One thing I found is that it had a lot of sauce. I definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Yelp
Bao belly and duck $5 , steamed dumplings $8 Average servings size for the baos. Excellent quality of meat. Actually had to go back in and eat all the crumbs! Soup dumplings are on the small side. Average quality but still worth it. Loved the mission and the direction of the company. Will highly recommend!

Yelp
Super friendly staff but as an Asian eatery was surprised to see only Caucasian work in the front and back. Ever since they did a collab with one of my favourite bakery, I've wanted to come try this place or the other location. I'd say not as amazing as the hype made it sound but it is really good. The Dan Dan noodle was delicious. The char siu pork belly is a bit salty without rice but it is very well made and super flavourful. I personally would recommend just eating it on its own, but it's a must try dish for sure. The crispy wontons are also a MUST TRY! The truffle siu mai is good but not any different from other decent Chinese place. The only thing that I'd say I was disappointed about is the XLB. Not as flavourful as I imagined and not the most authentic. However, that's the only dish I'd say that's not worth ordering. The rest are great and if I'm around I'd come back again. But it's not a place I'd drive all the way for.

Yelp
Visited HAE on our trip to Van City after seeing that it was highly rated on Yelp, and the location was close to our hotel. We ordered the five spice chicken wings to start and a chicken bowl and pork belly bowl. You order at the front counter and they call your receipt number when your food is ready. We had been walking/being touristy all day so we had worked up quite an appetite. Once our food arrived, we all tucked in. I enjoyed the ginger topping on my chicken bowl (appeared to be mashed fresh ginger with herbs) as it added a fresh bite to the rice, shredded cabbage salad, wood ear mushrooms, and soft boiled egg. The fried chicken exterior had a nice crisp, and as I was taking pieces off to give to my young son, I noticed the inside of my chicken leg was red. I tore the piece deeper and to my horror the inside was RAW with blood running in the center. Now at this point I had taken bites off of the chicken and given pieces to my son. I was afraid we were going to get food poisoning from the poorly cooked chicken, and I don't know about you, but I def do not want to get sick while on vacation! I brought the bowl up and showed the cashier who then asked who I presume was the manager to take a look. He saw the uncooked leg and apologized and asked if I wanted to wait while they made me another bowl. I was honestly so grossed out at that point that I said no, I would just like a refund. So at first they gave me cash, but I requested the money be put back on the credit card I had used to pay as we were returning to the U.S. and I didn't want to have Canadian money left over. No one seemed to know how to do a credit refund. But after a couple mins the manager figured it out and it worked. He did also hand me their bus card and said that if for some reason the refund didn't go through, to call back and they would fix it. I was still starving and thankfully the wings were fully cooked. What a disappointment though. As for the parts of the chicken bowl I did taste - good, not great. The wood ear mushrooms were overcooked and were mushy, the rice with the deep fried taro (?) strips was decent, and as I said before, I enjoyed the fresh ginger mash topping. The five spice wings were ok, but nothing to write home about. My sister thought her pork belly bowl was just ok as well - the belly was super soft, but there was nothing overly impressive with the dish. If I were ever back in the area, I don't think I would visit again. Let this serve as a reminder to ALWAYS CHECK THAT YOUR POULTRY IS THOROUGHLY COOKED BEFORE EATING!

Yelp
Heritage Asian Eatery is a modern, casual Asian spot about a 5-min walk from Canada Place. I strolled into here on a weekday for lunch and got the Chicken Rice Bowl ($11). The bowl came with two pieces of fried chicken, which weren't crispy or juicy (they were actually on the dry side). Also included in the bowl were mushrooms, cabbage, onions, and two eggs. Overall, it wasn't very memorable and everything was just "okay." In fact, I would say more than 60% of the bowl was plain white rice (and there was no brown rice option...). Granted, the interior of the restaurant was neat/modern, and the ordering experience was easy (order at the counter and seat yourself). But the food was pretty bland and uneventful. Disappointing considering I had high-hopes for this place! If you are looking for an affordable, decent lunch, this place will get the job done -- but there are better options.

Yelp
Eatery means a causal or informal place where you can buy and eat food. If you enjoy unfussy dining, then Heritage Asian Eatery is the place for you. As it has mentioned on his name, it is an eatery place, so you order your food at the cashier, and then you wait for your name to be called. It has a self-serving corner where you can locate water station, cutlery, sauces, and take out boxes. Heritage Asian Eatery serves with a fusion of Asian and Western food. They use udon in their Dan Dan Noodle rather than regular noodles. It is very creative. We enjoyed the most were their Golden Mantou. The mantou (Chinese Steamed Bun 饅頭) were deep fried and served with matcha condensed milk. It is a great place for fast lunch located in downtown Vancouver. Heritage Asian Eatery is located at 1108 West Pender Street, Vancouver BC. Food: 4/5 Should Try! Service: Eatery Kids: 3/5 A-OK for kids. (Small place, but most kids like mantou/bun) Price: $20-$30 for two Presentation: 3/5 Parking: Street parking Tips: *gets very busy during lunch hour *serves generous portions Would I Return: Yes ‍

Yelp
I kept getting insta ads for this place and every picture looked drool worthy so I was dying to try this place out. My expectations fell very flat. I got the dan dan noodles and the food was very meh. Noodles were meh, sauce was not very flavorful (aka meh), the two together were meh - you get the point. Granted I've lived in Asia for a few years so I have pretty high standards, but unfortunately I will not be back.

Yelp
Ambience is nice and chic, service is attentive. I ordered a Dan Dan noodle, noodle texture is al dente, peanut sauce tastes fine, but the peanut bits have gone rancid. I told the server about it, he apologized and told the kitchen. The kitchen staff tasted it and agreed with what I said. The server tried to make it up by asking if I want sesame ball as dessert. But I'm full already, and I'm in a rush to go back to the office, so I didn't take up his offer. So I just asked for the bill, and honestly, I'm quite surprised the server didn't offer any discount to compensate for that. Price are on the pricey side, but in downtown Vancouver, everything is expensive. If I'm craving for Asian in that area, perhaps I'll give it another try. Hope it won't disappoint me anymore if there's a next time.

Yelp
Food is delicious and service is excellent for a rather casual restaurant. We were out in less than 45 minutes. Prices are very reasonable. Could have done without the 5 season broccoli which didn't have the greatest taste. Highly recommend the dumplings and ginger scallion rice.

Yelp
This used to be be my go to lunch spot before they closed for renovations. Now that they have reopened they changed the menu and upped the prices. Five spice wings used to be $10 and are now $15.75, while they are delicious you get the same quantity for almost $6.00 more. They got rid of my favourite dish, the DanDan noodles. I spent $70 on lunch for 2 people today. That's a bit steep so I don't think I'll be frequenting this location as much as I used to but I'm glad they have finally reopened.

Yelp
Amazing food, keep going back for more. The salt baked chicken is to die for, usually get the rice bowl with the chicken and pork belly. Service is really good as well the waitress knows what I always get and asks if I want the usual which is a nice personal touch.

Yelp
Been eating light meals in Vancouver so I could try more places. Ordered the XLB and duck bao. Are the flavors amazing and are these the best I've eaten? No, but they are well made and have the taste I expect. For the price in CAD it was a good price and worth eating there.

Yelp
Good lunch! Came right after lunch rush around 1pm. Wasn't as busy got our food right away. We ordered wings $5, I had chicken bowl $11, and my husband had the pork belly bowl $12. I really enjoyed the wings very tasty. I also tasted my husbands food and I enjoyed a little better than mine. Don't you just hate that when you partner food taste better than yours. I found the pork belly bowl in general just had more flavour. Ok so the chicken bowl, it was ok. Came with 2 piece of chicken (thigh & drum stick) egg, rice, mushroom and slaw. As a whole it was pretty bland, I had to add hot sauce to give it more flavour. Good portions. So if you want to try something and its your first time go with the Pork belly! Overall I thought it was a good place for lunch.

Yelp
We're spoilt for choice when it comes to good Asian food in Canada, so I have come to expect a high standard from restaurants that specialize in it. For the items that I tried, HAE is sub-par, I have eating fresher more flavorful baos in small Albertan towns. Since I had never eaten here before, I orders the staple reliable foods: Pork belly bao, duck bao and crispy dumplings. 1. Crispy Dumplings (3/5) First, the good - the dumplings were crispy and quite flavourful. But unfortunately they were small and only 6 of them in one serving, which to me does not warrant the price tag. 2. Baos (0/5) Absolutely terrible, the baos were room temperature. There is no way that these were prepared to order or heated up properly before serving. The only item which possibly had some warmth to it was the pork belly. The duck bao is supposed to have 'duck leg in pecking sauce' but there was nothing in that bun expect meat that looked like dry shredded cardboard, unfortunately it tasted like cold cardboard too. We refused to eat it after one bite. For $10, I could have fed myself something decent instead. 3. Ginger soda (3/5) I am not sure if they make their own but this came in a glass and had a nice bitter ginger flavour and was very fizzy. Not bad at all. The positives are that the front staff was nice and the place is cute. Their noodles (which the table next to us ordered) did look good and are possibly a better option than the sides and snacks.

Yelp
The pork belly rice bowl was excellent! The soft-boiled egg done well (not well done). Generous portion of tender delicious pork belly. The rice had a good texture, and didn't feel like there was too much or too little of it. Also had a mix of toppings: watercress, yuzu slaw, crispy onions and kimchi daikon. Tons of flavours that blend well together You order at the counter and they'll call your name out when it's ready. You can also do a mobile order, and go straight to the counter to pick it up. I arrived late in the lunch hour rush (1245) and my meal was ready to go in less than 5 minutes. That said, most places downtown get slammed around noon. There are 2 rows of tables and a bar along one side. Total seating is in the 30-40 range. I'll definitely be returning to try the duck rice bowl and some bao.

Yelp
Thanks Yelpers for helping me find this gem. Coming into Vancouver for a conference and just wanted a quick bite. Boy was this terrific. Just a block from my hotel, too I was disappointed that the Udon was sold out and that there were no other soup/noodle options BUT happily discovered the duck rice bowl. For $15 it was a bargain!! My husband and I shared this along with a side of crispy dumplings. Not so impressed with the dumplings but I would sure have the duck bowl again. Much yum!!

Yelp
Delicious and unique dishes! Everything was delicious and I recommend the fried Cauliflower side dish for $5. It's a big size and super flavourful. Good for sharing. They have one big long communal table in the middle but the place was pretty empty when we went at 6pm on a Thursday so our group got to sit there. Otherwise it'd be hard to fit a group.

Yelp
To kick-off our trip to Vancouver... the baos here were pretty good. But the chicken wings were absolutely great. I think if you want to actually be full and not spend a fortune you may want to stick to the bowls (which we didn't try). Otherwise, like my notes say, "this place is super pricey." Now if I can find a way to review Canadian immigration- seriously, what U.S. citizen is trying to sneak into Canada?! Is that really a thing?

Yelp
Walked by this place a couple times before, and decided to stop in one evening last week after work to give it a try. The interior decor gives off serious hipster vibes, with a long communal table right down the middle, a high ceiling, and rustic furnishings. My friend & I ordered a rice bowl each: I had the Pork Belly while he had the Chicken. The bowls had a decent amount of meat, a bunch of veggies/slaw, and a marinated boiled egg each. Both bowls had flavourful sauces and a very fusion-y non-standard Asian rice bowl kind of taste. Nothing particularly outstanding, but definitely not bad either. Menu pricing is a little on the high side for what you get, but pretty standard for most other restaurants located in downtown Vancouver.
