HERITAGE - Croatian Street Food & Shop

Small place! Might have to wait/ make a booking! Simple ingredients but damn the sandwich was delicious! I was suggested the white wine with it and it was perfect. The service here is friendly and genuine and they actually wanted to engage explaining where the ingredients came from which was a nice touch!

Unexpected good discovery. Highly recommended to taste Croatian km0 ingredients. It is very tiny with only a few spots in bar stools. However, the girl will make sure that you feel comfortable. We arrived without reservation and there was waiting list. She offered us to wait having a bier in the bar in front and picked us just a few moments later when our seats were free. We could take our biers with us during our meal in Heritage. That is service! If I could I would rate it as 7! Unfortunately, it started to rain heavily for the people in the two tables outside. The waiter made all she could to relocate a couple with baby inside. Very helpful. We enjoyed very much! Nice surprise in Zagreb. Highly recommended.

I ate here on September 20th, 2025 around 3pm - someone give the girl who waited on my table a raise! She was very kind and when I asked for a recommendation she suggested the truffle and prosciutto sandwich. When the order arrived she explained the ingredients (important because they are all sourced locally in Croatia) and it was really delicious. Strong truffle flavor. I will definitely come back here again in the future.

The local food is excellent, with so much flavour. Moreover, the atmosphere is both friendly and cosy. The owners are very knowledgeable and they explain what different dish combinations paired with the right beverage you should try. It was a very pleasant experience for me and I also think that HERITAGE is a must try when visiting Zagreb.

This tiny hole in the wall place just happened to be near my apartment. We actually were seated on a skeleton high chair and table on the street. The STAR was the food. We were very hungry and this tasty, fresh, local food was a delight. The server passionately described each and every ingredient. The sandwich with cod pate and fish bites were excellent. Dessert was toast covered with homemade fig marmalade, local cheese and walnuts- mind blowing. Never knew simple unpretentious food could be so good. Local Croatian white wine was very good

This place is absolutely fabulous. The food, mostly sandwiches are truly gourment. It brings me great pleasure to have accidentally stumbled across an actual gem on the street. The only reason I award it 4 stars is because the shop is too small for its operation and getting a table can be a bit annoying. They've actually put up a hierarchy of entry which reinforced my belief that they need to expand. The menu with its descriptions and knowledge of the waitress were probably my favourite apart from the perfect bread.

Food might not look like much, but it makes up for it in quality and flavour! I had an anchovies sandwich that was AMAZING!! The salad in the picture was plenty on it's own and the cheese was fantastic.

This was the one place we kept coming back to throughout our Zagreb trip — and we loved every single thing we tried. It’s a tiny, cozy spot with a small seating area for about 5–6 people inside and two tables outside. There’s also a little shelf selling beautiful locally made products from Zagreb’s small producers, which I absolutely loved browsing. First of all, the owners deserve a special thank you for their kindness and warm welcome. I also truly admire the vision they’ve built. Heritage’s philosophy is all about creating unique dishes by combining local ingredients grown only in Zagreb with their culinary creativity. In doing so, they support local producers and, in my opinion, contribute a lot to Zagreb’s food culture and identity. Honestly, if we hadn’t found this place, I would have never known that Zagreb stands out in niche products like truffles and olive oil. We tried all of their flatbread options (we simply chose the vegan versions instead of the meat ones), and we enjoyed every single one. My personal favorites were the Istrian Pearl and the Cod Pâté, while my husband fell in love with the Salted Anchovies. Before heading back home, we bought truffle salt, an amazing bottle of wine, and rakija from their little shop corner. This place truly became the surprise culinary highlight of our Zagreb trip. My husband tried their draft beer and really enjoyed it. I went for the fresh drinks — the elderflower and the fig leaf — and absolutely loved both. So light, so refreshing. Everything we ate and drank left such a memorable taste. We genuinely hope to come back again soon. 🙂🥰
