Wow!!! I just had the best steak I have ever had in my life. It was so tender I think a spoon could have carved through it. I don’t even have words for how delicious it was. The service was amazing. Friendly smiling staff . What more could you want. If you haven’t had a steak there for a bit i highly recommend trying the rib fillet. Well worth $$

I booked this hotel for my mum as she was travelling from the Sunshine Coast to see me in Townsville. I booked and paid $125 online and then when she got there they 'didn't have the room I booked'. The online fee was refunded but she was made to pay for a more expensive family room. I think this was rude- they should block off the rooms if not available or just upgrade people when the website makes a mistake!! I have tried to contact the hotel, however their website has no contact information available. I asked mum what it was like inside and this was her response: Hotel was not great. I wouldn't even give it 1 star. No off street parking. Accommodation on third floor with no elevator. Shared bathroom and toilet and I was at the far end of the hall way. No water in room not even cold jug in fridge. Had to get water for jug from bathroom. TV remote wasn't working (batteries I think). Signs up telling you to put your rubbish in bin at end of hall, and 10c containers in other bin at another place and to leave your wet towels in bucket in bathroom. The room was tiny with double bed and single bed, table and 2 chairs and a small walking space between. Oh and a fridge. Window was sealed shut with air conditioner at bottom so only 1 way out. Glad there wasn't a fire. Makes camping in a swag seem glamorous and wish I had bought it with me.

Dirty rooms: stained and sticky bedspread, carpets on the floor that seem like they’ve never been cleaned. Unfriendly and unwelcoming staff. No Wi-Fi (which is considered basic nowadays). Smell of cigarette smoke in the hallways. Poor lighting in the common areas. Bathrooms were dirty, extremely old, and poorly maintained. I understand that the hotel is a historic and old building, but some basic renovations are necessary—especially considering the price, which is not on the cheaper side. For what they charge, it’s not worth it. We’ve stayed in cheaper hotels with much better facilities.

Booked a room. Fortunately got the only room with an unsuited as all other occupants in other rooms had to share bathrooms. Smell of cigarette smoke. No towels, bath mat face washer or tea towel supplied. After asking to be supplied, finally we received 2 substandard towels and a used one as a bath mat. These towels apparently came from another venue after a phone to see if the staff could procure some.

It was ok, I think they were understaffed on the night we stayed. Stair cases is dangerously dark and permanent residents smoke and cough all night. Sunrise in the morning was nice from the balcony.

Right in town, great old pub with fantastic food and service. Would gladly stay here again. Awesome view out the front.

Didn't stay or eat here, but I loved the grand old building, which is architecturally pleasing and one of many old heritage buildings along the Fitzroy River, which can be enjoyed during a leisurely stroll.

Absolutely discussed! Ordered 2 coffees and a toasted sandwich. Girls made the coffees in front of us, then gave us a number for the food. Waited for 20 minutes, asked how it was going, the girl said she'd ask the kitchen, AND THEN RETURNED SERVING CUSTOMERS! I asked to speak with the manager, the manager snapped at me that I had already been told that my meal was being checked! Never again!

Yelp
Four out of five unexpected delights! I went to this place when I was in Rocky recently and I was pleasantly surprised. The Heritage is situated right on the river. The décor was fun and cool and there is an outdoor area on the side facing the river. The restaurant is very definitely a restaurant and not a pub. Food is also available from the bar (i.e. a limited/smaller version of the restaurant menu). The food was all very nice - I had the eggplant parma ($18) with a side dish of wok tossed Asian vegetables ($5). I thought it was very tasty, though I would say my 'Asian' vegetables were really regular vegetables + wombok. Not sure that counts as Asian, but it was still tasty. My companions had the porterhouse steaks ($24). Note that the steaks don't come with any side dishes and they must all be purchased extra for $5 each. However, there is a big range of side dishes (chips, vegetables, salads, 'Asian' vegetables etc). I thought the menu was a bit of fun - the seafood is in the 'No legs' section, poultry is in the 'Two legs' and steaks are under 'Four legs' (Only in Oz). Don't let that put you off, though; the restaurant actually has a bit of classy yet trendy vibe. There was quite a lot of street parking available and this place was walking distance from my hotel so it was in a good location. The waitress was lovely and efficient and more than happy for us to split the bill. Be warned - The restaurant isn't huge. We went on a Monday night and at about 7:30 they were turning people away. I later saw those people turned away eating at the bar so they didn't go far. Overall, I found the Heritage to be a pleasant and unexpected surprise, when I had the stereotypical thoughts that it was going to be an ordinary regional pub. I will definitely be coming back and it is likely where I will be taking my boss when she comes up! Cheers.

Yelp
Visited the Heritage, after hearing the local radio station giving it some air time. Unfortunately on the night i visited it was a bit of a let down. Food quality was good but had to wait nearly an hour before the first sign of anything to eat arrived, and believe me it was not a busy night. Will try again and see if they can redeem themselves.
