If there is a place that might capture the heart and soul of Grand Cayman, it might be Heritage Kitchen. Sitting seaside in Old West Bay, is a colorful eatery dishing up an authentic experience not to be found among the touristy hotspots, or commercialized operations elsewhere. Outdoor dining leaves you facing the saltwater goodness, picnic tables painted in blues, pinks and greens, hint of a playfulness that is the island. Heritage Kitchen is a welcomed throwback amongst the modernity. The food delivers on this experience, its fresh, thoughtfully spiced and seasoned, delivering a food culture to you, that you only thought you might have known. As a traveler, I want to taste the culture, as well as feel it, here you can do both. Flavors are simple, but has the acquired depth of time, of recipes passed down, food that feeds the soul. Heritage delivers on that promise, and then some. The menu is mostly fish, but that is apropos given island life. Fresh catch from the sea, from fisherman that labored in the sun, the simple bounty of nourishment. If you're visiting island, it is a must. If you reside in Cayman, this feels like home. Dont rush through this experience, bathe in it, this is true Cayman.
