Beware: the photos of this hotel are way nicer than the reality. I’m sad to write this review as I booked this place for a special Christmas Day stay my husband and I were really looking forward to, and it was not cheap ($777 NZ a night plus a parking fee!). Sadly, it’s very run down. Our room could only be described as beat up. There wasn’t a single piece of furniture in the room that wasn’t chipped, the walls were scuffed beyond belief, surfaces were dusty, there were handprints on the headboard, the conditioner bottle was totally empty (found out mid-shower), the bathroom smelled like mildew, and there was animal poop on the balcony/chair. Hot tub was always too full to use. We asked if we could pay to upgrade to the next tier of room, but unfortunately they were fully booked — and while did give us a room on a higher floor which helped marginally, I honestly felt bamboozled for the price I paid. The lobby and restaurant also smelled awful. They must have a really strong scent they blast through, but I couldn’t spend more than 5 mins in there. If you have allergies, it is not the place for you. Pros were the view, and the bed was comfortable. Keep in mind booking sites may use a picture of their nicest room, which in my experience was a far cry from what was received. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I would think twice before booking this hotel (especially for nice occasions or holidays).

Poor wif conection, but Super helpful concierge ...there was no shampoo/soap/conditioner and he efficiently found some. The rooms service must have forgotten, we're all humans and make mistakes. The rooms were so comfortable and we all had the best sleeps in a year ! Car parking s $15/night anywhere on premises. The key card was deactivated and new ones given quickly, The key card will deactivate at 11am despite a 1pm late check out. Lovely walk down to town from this hotel

Check in was ok, we settled into our room which was clean and tidy. The bed however in our room was way too soft for me and by night 2 my back was gone. Day 3 we asked the reception if we could change rooms but told not possible, we tried asking again in the afternoon and Liam was exceptional, after a bit of back of forth with his shift manager he was able to move us into a studio apartment with a much firmer and comfortable bed for my back, If I had to spend all 7 nights in the very soft first bed it would have resulted in me not moving for the last few days of our trip. So to the management of the Rendezvous Heritage Hotel, give Liam an hourly increase in his pay and possibly a promotion as his customer service and satisfaction skills were on point to make our stay a great one! Thank you Liam for your professionalism at handling what could have been a horrible experience only due to the bed! 🫡 👏🏼

Our room was a bit tired, that said the Breakfast was excellent as was the food in the evening. The staff were all fantastic, polite and friendly. You can pre-pay for Breakfast and save a few dollars so if you're on a room only deal this is worthwhile. Also if you have an early start they serve from 6am.

The hotel is close enough to Queenstown to be handy while far enough out to be quiet. Walking into town maybe takes 15 minutes as it downhill, walking back on the other hand takes a little longer and the hill is quite steep (but not as steep as the nature trail which runs adjacent to the main footpath!) Some of the rooms have outstanding views of the surrounding mountains and Lake Wakatipu. The range of breakfast foods was good and dinner In Mackenzie's Restaurant was excellent.

We were lucky that at check in got upgraded from a deluxe room to a studio lakeside. Studio was really big with a king size bed which was very comfortable, smart tv, kitchen with microwave, hob, fridge & all the plates & utensils you need, bathroom.with bath & shower & all the toiletries you require, only annoying thing is that the fan never goes off. Ate first night in restaurant had to wait a long time for our drinks, think the girl may have been new, but the food was good & staff polite & friendly. Walk into town about 15 to 20 minutes but it's a nice walk. Would stay here again as liked location & room was great.

Good location. Hotel average. Annoyingly most days, despite leaving around 8 am and Please Tidy Room sign on door, we arrived back from all day hiking tired and dirty to find our room not yet serviced. Some days this did not happen until 7 pm. Every day the same excuse - very busy. Otherwise spacious rooms with beautiful lake and mountain views.
