Herman Gulch Trailhead

Gorgeous spot for a winter hike. Strenuous 800ft elevation gain to a beautiful meadow with stunning views in all directions. Treat yourself to this one. Apparently a lake lies a bit further if you can find it with Cairns.

Beautiful hike out and back with an amazing view at the top of the hike. Always check the for the weather before heading up there to dress accordingly. Easy to find and free parking are available. With just an 1800 feet of elevation gain.

Nice little parking lot with access to many many trails. With only a moderate length hike you can get up above tree line for some pretty remarkable views. The location off of I-70 makes access about as easy as it gets.

Came here on a Saturday morning and arrived at 8 am. Parking lot was pretty full there was parking available. Steep incline initially then moderate and steep toward the end. Some ‘older’ members of the group appreciated having hiking poles. Beaut wildflowers and views. If you intend dipping your toes in the lake and you like warm water you may want to call ahead to tell management to turn the heating on!

I figured out its about 3.5 mile trail to the lake... u can do more if u like climbing and strenuous adventures. It is steep in different areas. U gain nearly 1800 feet starting about 10,000 feet to almost 12,000 very beautiful area. I enjoyed it took about 3 hours but im kinda outa shape..

A Diamond in the rough. This trail is right off of I-70 if you're headed west bound it's just before the Loveland Pass exit. It wasn't at all what we expected. Better. Wild flowers, wildlife and amazing views. Water cascades, this trail has it all.

Awesome winter snowshoe hike, much more challenging than we expected so unfortunately we weren’t able to finish because we got a late start. Only made it about 1/4 the way, started getting dark around 4:30 / 5 pm due to high mountains nearby and clouds, fog, and snow rolling in. We also lost the trail around our turnaround spot so that was another reason to head out earlier than expected. If you wanna go in the winter with a group doing snowshoeing and finish the entire trail I’d recommend giving yourself at least 6.5 hours.

A great day hike just an hour from Denver. I was hiking with my friends in late afternoon and spotted a moose very close to the trail on the way back. It's a beautiful hike this time around with a lot of wildflowers and the lake itself was quite pretty.
