Herman Miller Retail Store

I always love visiting this beautiful Herman Miller showroom and store on the corner of 20th Street & Park Ave South, just north of Union Square. The gorgeous sets of furniture are beautifully arranged and give a true feeling of what they can look like in one’s home. I’m a big fan of all Eames designs, it’s always a pleasure seeing them in a real space. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable. Do visit.

Pretty cool experience. Half showroom, half sales floor. High quality office chairs. Any fans of Herman Miller or furniture design in general will have a nice time here and likely learn a lot from the very knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff.

A overall great experience, the store was peaceful, unique design, and Alex was very friendly. A great place to test out chairs before you consider buying.

They will follow you around the store but god forbid they actually try to help you make a purchase. Classic Manhattan high end shopping experience “no diamonds no chanel no service” I guess

This place is great to find furniture you like! The staff is very attentive and nice. To be honest the prices are very high but the quality of the items is great!

We had a small issue with the sizing of our desk chair and Micah went above and beyond to make it right. We live close by and love stopping in just for design ideas. Even though the store is a big name, this location feels neighborly and communal. I can’t recommend this location and the team enough!

Surprisingly rude staff. They act like customers are interrupting their office work. Fascinating really.

I went to this place for their chairs. Aeron is very comfortable, even better than Embody.

Awesome down to earth showroom in Park Avenue. I got to see the products from Herman Miller. They are alright. Some of them designed to look good but it misses the point ergonomically. I could not feel comfort while sampling their products. They felt stiff Their service was also missing. The sales people were not paying attention to me nor inquiring how was i feeling and providing explanation on their products. I did not get a greeting from any of their employees either. I felt they may have been looking down on me The service on this showroom needs mayor improvement and its products as well. IMO

I ordered a bookshelf on November 20th 2022, but as of today I have still not received the shelf I ordered, almost 2 months later (despite an initial delivery estimate of 1 week). They initially sent me the wrong color shelf, then made it my problem to deal with the return of the wrong item. Additionally, they didn't process getting my correct order shipped until HM's mistake of sending the wrong item was fixed. After detailing with returns, there have been continual shipping delays in getting the right item to me. I really hope the product is better than the customer experience.

Anyone knows a very good office chair will cost a pretty penny, but I can confirm that it's very much worth the money. I been eyeing Herman Miller and other fancy office chairs for awhile as I was getting sick of sitting on cheaper office chairs that just hurt the bum after many hours. As a designer, sitting in front of a computer all day long, a good chair was imperative. I waited way too long to get one, but I'm very glad to invest in a Herman Miller. The selection at this store was great. I was tempted by alot of their modern furniture on display. The office chair selection is prettt vast. I ended up getting the Sayl, which was expensive, but just under that $1k mark that most of their chairs cost. You're wondering why so expensive, but trust me, a Herman Miller will last a lifetime. You're better off spending a lot of money on a furniture that will last than buying cheap furniture every other year. I've been quite happy with the Sayl so far. It's very comfy and the back is very flexible and comfortable when leaning. The height is fully adjustable. The process of ordering a chair was easy. They aren't in stock at the store, so you put in an order for it. There are some colors that also aren't readily available and may take longer. All in all, great furniture store, and I've been more than happy with the chair I got. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for quality home and office furniture.

Shannon is the best sale associate you could ask for when it comes to chairs! She is not only super knowledgeable but also very fun and passionate. We came here looking for a office chair because of this work from home situation and we ended up staying for almost an hour because we just really enjoyed Shannon's instructions on different types of chairs! If you're looking for a great chair while learning more about ergonomics, I would definitely recommend coming in this location and ask for Shannon's help. You won't be disappointed!

It's unfortunate when a company puts their own interests above those of their customers. Such appeared to be the case when I went to this HM store seeking a replacement back for a twenty-year-old Mirra chair. The old back was splitting up the center and was years out of warranty. First the sales associate asked why I didn't just buy a new chair. Well, not wanting to spend $1,200 rather than replacing a part I had found online for $120 was my answer. Then she said she would consult with their repair technicians. I assume an HM repair would have set me back several hundred bucks. I pointed out that I had assembled the chair in 2001 and likely could perform the repair myself. Next, she estimated the price of a new back at around $150, which was by a curious coincidence the exact same price I had suggested that I would consider paying, covering the online vendor's price for the part plus what I assumed was the shipping cost. Finally, she asked me to double check the back I needed by taking three photos of the chair and getting information from some sticker underneath the chair. Did I mention that I had already seen the correct part on the online vendor's site? So I wound up getting the new back from the online vendor, an excellent firm in Pawling, NY called Office Replacement Parts. We exchanged a few emails confirming the color of the back I needed, I paid with PayPal, and the back arrived two days later. I installed the new back without a problem -- ORP gave me instructions and some new bolts needed -- and I saved close to the grand I would have spent buying a new Mirra chair. Easy peasy! So Office Replacement Parts gets five stars -- this HM store just one...

Why did one of the sales people ask me to take a seat and tell me he'd bring out chairs for me to try out only to make me wait 40 minutes while he helped 2 other customers who came in after me.. It seems like the only person in there with any clue is Devon. He was the only one with eyes and helped me after realizing I was waiting for a really long time while his moron colleague did nothing to help me after I waited so long.

I ordered a table for work on sale in April with no delivery delay noted. It's late June and I have still not received it. Customer service has repeatedly claimed to be on top of the shipping delay, and yet today I received another message saying they have no ship date yet. I had to buy another desk and will never purchase from Herman Miller again. Terrible experience and still ongoing.

The furniture and home accessories they sell are not cheap, but you are definitely paying for quality. Herman Miller has that sleek, clean, modern aesthetic (bordering on quirky/unique, but not quite there) which I love. I didn't spend much time on their first floor, where they sell their home decor; instead, the bulk of my time was spent on their second floor, where they sell their office chairs. These are without a doubt some of the best (if not THE BEST) quality office chairs for posture, ergonomics, and comfort. If you spend a lot of time hunched over a desk and have $800-$1200 to spare, I would highly recommend investing in one of their amazing office chairs. My mother and I were helped out by the lovely Mark, who recommended the Aeron (their overall bestseller), Embody (preferred by gamers), and Sayl (for something fun yet functional). Mark was also incredibly helpful and patient with us as we hemmed and hawed over their selection of sleek, ergonomic office chairs. Without us even asking, he showed us all the features, bells, and whistles of their more popular office chairs, and didn't pressure us in the slightest as we low-key played musical chairs for ages, very indecisively. Wonderful customer service! I definitely want to stop by again sometime to properly explore the first floor.

The chair is very nice! I also added a headrest and it feels better than the couch. It is pricey but it is a health investment and it probably will save much money on from spinal surgery.

Customer service absolutely sucks. After problems arose after purchasing one of the expensive desk chairs I have found it virtually impossible to get ahold of anyone by phone and there has been no response to my email.

Spent almost $2000 on a desk and it never showed up during the 4 hour delivery window that required me to take a day off of work. The shipping company won't reschedule a delivery and I can't get Herman Miller to do anything about it. Don't waste your time with this company unless your time is somehow valueless.

Everyone is so nice and willing to help! I love my friendly neighborhood Herman Miller space! This is a great addition to the flatiron/ union square area. Amazing quality furniture with expectable design. If you've never been in, You should definitely come and check it out!

Fabulous selection of furniture and items for the home! The furniture ranges from classic designs from Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, and Isamu Noguchi to recent designs from BassamFellows, Jehs + Laub, and Naoto Fukasawa. There's a rotating selection of vintage finds from Wright Auction. I'm ready to go back!

I purchased the caper chair from herman miller. The mesh seat is now breaking. Because it is an older model it cannot be repaired and because it is out of warranty I am out of luck. They advised me to throw it away and buy a new chair! I am seriously disappointed and will never buy a chair from Herman Miller again.
