Hermann’s Austrian restaurant

After a visit to the Stirling Castle we found just at the bottom of the hill Hermann's to satisfy our hunger. I have to say that the lady that served us was one of the warmest persons I have ever meet, constantly asking us if we need something or if the food is ok. We got our food in a relatively short time, the plates were looking amazing and the food was tasty. The price was a good one, maybe cheaper with 20% than similar places. Thank you.

We had a lovely Scottish experience with our tour group at Hermann’s restaurant in Sterling. Our guide, a bagpiper from Sterling castle piped us down from the castle to the old town restaurant and we all came inside. He told us stories, played the bagpipes and we had a wonderful meal in the comfortable restaurant. Our Piper presented the haggis, which was absolutely delicious, and addressed the proud haggis with the famous Robbie Burns poem. A Scottish flag waved in the breeze from the open window. It was a lovely experience and as Scottish as you can get in an Austrian restaurant!

Homely restaurant with Scottish produce and varied food menu options. Many options with supplements. Limited dessert options but quite good. Free WiFi and very clean restroom

We had a fantastic evening at Hermann's. The food was perfect and the service was incredibly friendly.

Last Monday 30th Dec I had lunch there after visiting the castle and We tried the typical Scottish soup and for being honest, is the tastiest soup and food that I tried in the UK in the last years, I would have repeat and eat another plate of soup if I had the opportunity 🙈🙈 The salmon was nice too. In general good service and the atmosphere was so relaxed, so I totally recommend having lunch in this restaurant.

We went for my father-in-law's 80th birthday and loved the food and the helpful staff. The Wiener schnitzel was absolutely fantastic. Would recommend highly!

First visit at lunchtime with my partner. The food was lovely. We started with Cullen skink. Delicious. We had the chicken Balmoral with haggis. The sauce was really nice, we asked for extra sauce and this was provided. We both had a dessert, very nice. The two staff on shift were really friendly, helpful. An asset to the restaurant On the downside the restaurant could do with a wee freshen up of the paintwork, something easily sorted. We definitely will be back!

Extremely warm and friendly staff (couldn’t fault them). There were some lovely really traditional Scot’s meals available on the menu. Excellent food and service. Would definitely recommend 🏆

We really enjoyed our meal here! The scenery around the restaurant is just stunning! The waitstaff was so friendly and the food was fabulous. They had a great variety of food and you couldn't ask for a better atmosphere. I would definitely come back again.

Great food and atmosphere. Wifi is not good so do your flight check ins elsewhere. Slow service but worth the waiting!!!! Loved the food and nice help. Don't be in a rush when you go here. Prices $$$ but worth it!

Options are limited in the area around Stirling Castle and I can't say I've ever heard of Austrian-Scottish Fusion before, but this turned out to be a really lovely place! It's an elegant little space with great service. The a la carte menu looked really interesting, but they also have a set dinner menu that's a great deal-- around £18 for two courses and around £21 for three courses. The smoked salmon appetizer is incredible; I order it every chance I get in Scotland, but this one was particularly delicious. The Scottish sirloin was delicious as well, with a yummy mushroom sauce and side of vegetables and potatoes. For dessert we both had a hazelnut bramble tart; I'd never had bramble berries before but ended up really enjoying this dish, as well as the scoop of ice cream topping it. The wine list was great as well; we tried an Austrian zweigelt that paired fantastically with steak. If you want a a nice upscale dinner in Stirling, this is an excellent choice.

An unusual, but rather interesting mix of Austrian and Scottish dishes makes this a must-visit restaurant in Stirling. Slightly more expensive compared to other local restaurants, but the great food and service more than make up for that. The beef/steak dishes are fantastic. Great food, charming atmosphere. Option of a set dinner or a la carte. We came here for the first night of our honeymoon because they had some good vegetarian options for my wife. We also came to find out that they had gluten free bread! Overall, really great choice if you want to spend a little for a nice dinner. Plus it's right by Stirling castle!

Hermans has been around for a long time. Run by a Austrian, there are usualy 2 types of snitzel on the menu. Handy for the Tollbooth for a pre concert meal or just to enjoy for a full evening.

Not bad but not special either. Chicken breast was a bit over cooked. Dining room not terribly pretty. Very nice service. Some of the best wines by the glass I've had in Scotland.

Quiet restaurant, excellent service with very high quality food at a reasonable price. Mixture of dishes to suit most taste, including your kids. Location is right next to the Castle.

Loved dining here. Great service and friendly staff. Food was served fresh and every dish was delicious. A bit pricey, but for a nice evening out, Hermanns is a great place to stop.

The first place in Scotland that I had haggis, and I didn't hate it! I think that deserves five stars on its own. Great staff and delicious food. Worth the trip!
