Hotel Hermitage Relais & Châteaux (Breuil-Cervinia, Valle d'Aosta) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"One of the places to stay in Cervinia, this large mountain chalet offers exclusivity and elegance. The warm Alpine atmosphere is echoed in the guestrooms, most of which are decorated in classic style, although the newer rooms have a more modern feel. Recharge your batteries in the excellent spa, which boasts a full range of treatments using products made by a prestigious Swiss cosmetics company." - Tablet Hotels

Fantastic stay at this traditional alpine hotel. From check-in to check-out, what really stood out was the level of service which surpassed most of the luxury hotels we've stayed at. The rooms are clean and well appointed, if not the latest from a tech standpoint but perfectly comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, only surpassed by the mountain view from the windows. The spa is on the small side but functional with both a steam room and a traditional sauna. The on-demand shuttle is a fantastic comfort, even if the hotel is only located 300m from the church square. For a blend of traditional charm and personalized luxury service, this hotel will be hard to beat. Book it for a memorable ski trip!

It’s difficult to put into words what the Hermitage Hotel & Spa in Cervinia means to our family. For over 25 years, this incredible hotel has been our sanctuary, our tradition, and our happy place. Year after year, we return—not just for the breathtaking beauty of Cervinia or the luxurious charm of the hotel itself—but because of the people who make it feel like home. From the moment we arrive, we’re welcomed like family. Simone, Luca, Michaela, Thomas, and so many other wonderful members of the Hermitage team go above and beyond to care for us—always anticipating our needs before we’ve even thought of them. Their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine kindness never cease to amaze us. It’s rare to find a place where hospitality feels so personal, so effortless, and so full of heart. Traveling with a large family isn’t always easy, but at the Hermitage, we’re always made to feel comfortable, cared for, and completely at peace. Whether it’s the stunning rooms, the flawless service, the incredible spa, or the delicious cuisine, every element is touched with thoughtfulness and love. This hotel is more than just a place to stay—it’s a part of our family’s story. Some of our most precious memories have been made here, and we truly can’t imagine a year without it. To everyone at the Hermitage: thank you for being the heart of our winter holidays. You have created something truly special, and we are endlessly grateful.

The experience was the worst I ever remember... When I think about it I tremble. We booked for 1 week, 2 connected rooms in the hope of family quality time. On the 3rd day we had no choice but to stay inside the hotel because of the big snowing & risk for avalanche. While my eldest daughter & I were at the spa, my younger daughter & husband had lunch at the hotel bar ( salmon burger + fries Euros 30). After two hours their belly grew like a big ballon, got pale & soon after started vomiting non stop for the next 7 hours. I contacted my doctor & he said "If the intoxication continues, they should be immediately hospitalized". After being in bed for 2 days NOBODY from the hotel staff dared to ask about their health. They completely ignore the situation & when I tried to involve them they replied that it must be about " food intolerances" which is not at all our situation. At the check out they changed their mind & said my husband & daughter had had a virus. Further in the conversation they never took responsibility, just shouted to try cover up for their mistakes saying that we wanted to take advantage of the situation when my husband just asked for a kind of compensation.||After this unfortunate & expensive time we left the Hermitage accused of bribery by the owners. Unforgettable in a traumatic way.

We had lunch at the property with the intention of considering the hotel for a future booking next season. After our meal, we politely asked if it was possible to see a few rooms — simply to get a better idea of the property and the services offered.||||What followed was rather surreal: the receptionist, after consulting with who we assume was the owner (he appeared from the back office just long enough to give instructions), informed us that it was not possible to view the rooms because they had been sanitized.||||Naturally, one has to wonder - did they think we planned on using them? We certainly weren't expecting to sleep there or settle in — just a quick look would have been enough. Frankly, it felt more like an excuse to avoid the inconvenience than a genuine concern.||||Quite disappointing, especially coming from a property of this supposed level, where attention to potential guests should be a priority.||||We definitely won't be returning, nor would we recommend this hotel to anyone expecting professionalism and courtesy.

We weren't sure what to expect from a summer visit to a winter ski resort. Thanks to the Hermitage: the location, the amenities, the vibe, the food, the team it was a great decision. To be repeated both in the winter and the summer. The walks recommended by Francisco and Nico were great whether to Lago Blu or up on Plan Maison via cable car. Spectacular. Thank you for loaning me sticks too. The Apres- Walk facilities were icing on a rich cake.||The town too is totally charming .We were glad to see it fully recovered from the devastating flood earlier this year. The picturesque golf course under looming Zermatt nestled between the brook and the Alps made me want to take up the sport. All the restaurant recos were spot on.||The food at the hotel was simply fantastic. Whether it was the breakfast where I was indulged by Simone with freshly baked croissants/ cornetti or the snacky lunch out on the lawn for lunch or dinner at the Michelin * ed Le Chantrelle for dinner all made for memorable experiences. The recommended Aosta Vallee wines paired well.||If all that was not enough for a rave review, having the wonderful housekeeper alert Michaela and Nina in the front office that I had left my precious engagement ring behind and then have the GM and Owner Mr. Corrado Neyroz deliver it to me personally in Milan the next day was hospitality, integrity and kindness above and beyond the call of any duty. I will be eternally grateful. Thank you so so much #Team Hermitage.|| Tips:| While we had a great view in 83, perhaps 82 in the corner gives you an uninterrupted view of Mt Z. I love to see it at different times under different conditions.|Please have as many meals in La Chantrelle as possible to do justice to the menu and avoid the FOMO feeling I have come back with!

A total gem!! We were on a road trip and only wished we stayed here more nights than one. It is such a charming hotel and the staff was fabulous. They were friendly and helpful and made great recommendations for what we should do during our short stay. The setting and views were amazing. The breakfast and service were great. Such a beautiful town and well worth it. In hindsight we wished we stayed here longer and had passed on Chamonix. One of our favorite stops of our trip. Highly recommend.

I had high expectations for the Hermitage Hotel & Spa based on the reviews I had read, but my expectations were exceeded. This is a fabulous hotel in all respects with spacious and comfortable rooms, a lovely bar and lounge seating area, a fabulous restaurant, a beautiful new spa — all with beautiful views of the mountains. But the staff is what really sets it apart from other great hotels. Truly everyone is exceptional from the front desk to the bartenders/servers to the spa team (run by the amazing Angelo). The hotel was decorated beautifully for Christmas, including small Christmas trees in the rooms. Our entire family loved the hotel — we can’t wait to return.

We have just visited the Hermitage for one week’s ski break. The hotel is really pretty with plenty of charm. Our deluxe room was lovely with a beautiful view, very spacious balcony and good amenities. We particularly enjoyed the ambience in the bar area and wonderful appetisers with a drink of an evening. They were very welcome and such variety! Lift passes can be purchased at reception on a daily basis which was great. Now for some of the points that they could improve on. We are fortunate to have stayed in many 5 star hotels around the world and in ski resorts and the Hermitage is almost 5 star, but not quite in our opinion. The physical building and staff are 5 star, but the service is not quite there consistently. We really missed not having a cup of tea or cake on return from skiing as most other ski hotels offer. A few items on the bar would have be nice, even if you have to pay for the tea/espresso. The cost to the hotel to do this would be minimal and it would generate more beverage purchases so seemed odd they didn’t. Dinner is not until 7.30pm so it can be a long wait if you are hungry! On a number of occasions we waited a long time for the ski shuttle - in excess of 15 minutes at the front of the hotel on two occasions, despite the shuttle being ready and waiting and it was obvious to the shuttle driver that we were waiting (ski gear on, standing with skis by the shuttle) but we were ignored. For the return shuttle you have to call the hotel, while other hotels seem to offer a regular service at peak times. We did not know this on our first day and waited nearly 30 mins at 4pm at the designated pick up point before we called them. They were very prompt in collecting us however when we did call. Dinner was pleasant but nothing remarkable. The dishes are well put together and most of the time well presented, although not always. You will not go hungry on the half board option as 4/5 courses are included and portions are generous. Things tasted good, not amazing, and were not memorable. We did get a little bored of exactly the same vegetables every night with grill dishes and the same sauce and sometimes what we received did not match the menu description. It may be different if you are not in half board though. Service in the restaurant was also hit and miss, sometimes it was great, other times we waited over 30 minutes to be offered dessert after main course and sometimes it was never offered. We found the prices on the wine list extremely expensive, so much so we did not drink wine and chose to drink at other venues in Cervinia. We expected a typical hotel surcharge but felt it was over the top. We have drunk wine in 2 star Michelin restaurants and this was higher than all of those. We are sure the wine list is very good, but there is nothing really below 100/150 euros per bottle. All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful - especially in the bar, and at breakfast. We felt it would be good if the breakfast team proactively offered egg dishes, as there is no menu and you don’t know what is available. We had to ask for an egg dish every day - it was not offered at all. So slightly below 5 star. Finally one thing that we felt was cheeky was we forgot a medical item and could not find it at the local pharmacy. We therefore asked the hotel if we could order it to be delivered to the hotel during our stay. They kindly helped with this and placed it on their Amazon Prime account as ours would not work in Italy. Now clearly there is no cost to the hotel to do this, but they charged us 10% of the value of the item for the privilege. So if we had ordered a more expensive item, the surcharge would have been higher, which makes no sense. A 5 star hotel should assist guests with matters like this without seeking to make profit - that is what you pay 5 star hotel prices for. Although we are willing to pay for higher price for a 5 star hotel, we are not sure the standard was quite there on this occasion.
