Location is stunning and the rooms have gorgeous views that made the trip almost worth it. Unfortunately service left a lot to be desired and created a bit of a raincloud on the experience. Front desk and restaurant staff was unhelpful and acted bothered whenever we asked about anything (like for boat tour recommendations, to see a menu, thoughts on local wine from the wine list, etc.). Food was not terrible but also not great, and ridiculously priced (coming from a new yorker). The view from our room saved the experience, but it was honestly the most unhospitable service I've ever encountered

Sorry to be quite detailed:|- check-in was awful. 2 positions @ the reception to check-in about 6+ guests which took consequently way too long. OK: one can check-in online but why to I have to do the job? No assistance whatsoever with handling our baggage. There is no adequate parking space in front of the hotel entrance to unload the baggage.|- the room we chose was perfect. Well equipped, clean, spacious, calm.|- for dinner we spent 2 hours for an entrée and a main course!? We got the impression that they operated the restaurant with an absolute minimum of staffing because we saw our server delivering dinners to rooms while we were waiting for being served in the restaurant|- the food served we had for our 1st dinner was ok, yet nothing close to their claim of extra ordinary. It's just truly ordinary fare. |- the 2nd dinner: the fish was over-cooked and the Cordon Bleu was (yes not bad but) so big to disgusting our appetite|- the breakfast buffet is excellent. A great choice and the personnel does a fantastic job to replenish it|to conclude:|- each and everyone of the staff we met was pleasant, friendly, motivated |- their marketing dept. should seriously review how to "bombard" their guests before, during and after their stay with e-mails|- the location and the view are extraordinary.

The rooms are spacious, the reception is great, and the food is excellent. There are two buildings in the hotel, old and new. The rooms in the old building are better designed and have a balcony , but the air conditioning is not strong. As for the rooms in the new building, there is no privacy, as the bathroom is open to the room without a screen.

Beautiful Setting, But I Expected More – 3.5/5 Let’s start with the obvious: the location is stunning. Waking up to views of Lake Lucerne with the mountains in the background is something special, no doubt about that. But for a hotel that positions itself as a luxury retreat, I expected more across the board. The room was fine—clean, modern, but lacking that "wow" factor. The materials and furnishings felt a bit too standard for the price point. Small details, like flimsy pillows or average toiletries, stood out to me—not because they were terrible, but because in a place like this, they should be perfect. Service was polite, but not proactive. I had to follow up on a couple of requests, and it felt like they were slightly overwhelmed during busy times. I’m used to a certain level of attentiveness in high-end hotels, and here, it felt more reactive than seamless.

Hermitage Lucerne offers beautiful views, but the overall experience was disappointing. The front desk service was poor, and no assistance was provided with luggage upon arrival. Despite booking multiple day beds, the beach club’s food and drink service was subpar. I was surprised this is considered a four-star property; as someone who works at a true five-star, Forbes Five-Diamond audited resort, I expected at least welcoming and attentive staff, but employees appeared disinterested. For the price, the experience is simply not worth it. The view is the only redeeming feature of this hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Hermitage Lake Lucerne for two nights, and unfortunately, it was the least hospitable experience of our month-long trip through Europe. While the hotel’s location is beautiful and the beach club staff were warm and welcoming, the front desk interactions fell well short of what we expected from a four-star property. At checkout, we left borrowed phone adapters in the room — as we’ve done at several hotels — assuming housekeeping would retrieve them. Instead, we were told we “should have returned them personally,” and that we’d only be refunded “if” they were found. The implication was disappointing. Even after confirming their location, we had to follow up twice before the refund was issued. Just for reference, the apparent cost of 2 borrowed adapters was 100 CHF. We also sent a thoughtful feedback email after our stay, which went unanswered. Prior interactions via email had also felt somewhat curt and passive-aggressive — a stark contrast to the genuine hospitality we received at other 4- and 5-star hotels throughout Europe. Another incident: at breakfast, we were in a hurry to catch a train and clearly requested a vegetarian omelette with no meat. Despite this, the omelette we received had ham in it. We didn’t have time to reorder, which made the experience even more frustrating. Given how many glowing reviews this hotel receives, I can’t help but wonder if our experience might have been different had we looked different. Perhaps it’s just a coincidence — but when hospitality feels selectively warm, it leaves you questioning what should never be in question

We loved our stay at Hermitage! The staff was always helpful, pleasant and very professional. The hotel is tastefully and comfortably appointed. Every room has a beautiful view. The location is fantastic- directly on Lake Lucerne! We hope to return!

The location is beautiful, room with balcony really great. Check in was super efficient and very friendly. Check out tricky, too much money was booked off my card. However, this was solved with one phone call later that day and the lady on the phone was very nice and helpful. I found the breakfast ok, all other meals I had were below par for the price. I am vegetarian, which nowadays should be catered for, but the options were not great. Also, information about usage time for the gym varied. Online it says it is open from 6 am, but reception told me 7 am twice. This makes a difference when you have meetings starting at 8.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel located right across from a bus station in the certain, far away from the crowded areas and a wonderful quiet retreat. Reservations and arriving: Made via message online or a call; we did so as part of our stay at the Hermitage. When checking in, the front desk was very gracious noticing that we had an upcoming reservation and called ahead letting the restaurant know that we are running a little bit late due to the check-in process. Rooms: We were personally shown to our rooms, and we really appreciated the walk-through. There are lounge areas including the bar area behind the front desk, and some quiet lounge chairs outside overlooking the lake, and inside with a pool table and additional seating. Clear warnings of possible mosquitos so we definitely appreciated the heads up before opening the windows in the evening! Stunning views of Lake Lucerne with generously sized rooms, and effort to be eco-friendly, and kind service. Food: Brunch was buffet style with plenty of seating and lots of variety. Loved the natural or firmer honey choices, bread choices, fruit, chia pudding, yogurt, boiled eggs, sausages, drinks, etc available all with lakeside covered seating options. Took one star off for a dinner experience with the associated restaurant Hermitage. Amenities: Spa area includes changing rooms and sauna rooms, no hot bath area or pool so this is for relaxation and also some private rooms are available. Water sports can be arranged with the front desk. Great stay that was quiet and polite and easily accessible in Lucerne!

Yelp
This hotel is an excellent place to stay. With beautiful lake views. Very friendly service. The breakfast is amazing as well. The view from their newly refurbished rooms is amazing one of the best that you can get in Luzon. This is a Place I would come back anytime. This is my third time to listen.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible hotel! Shouldn't even call it a hotel, it's far more luxurious than the word implies. We're currently at the Hotel Hermitage and all we can say is "WoW!" Before arrival, they staff emailed us the information on how to get here from Zurich Airport. Very simple instructions. We got to reception and within 60 seconds, they had the room key in our hands. We came to our room, 527 on the top floor facing the lake. Breathtaking view! Speechless! Yes, it's a bit expensive. But you're in Switzerland, it's the most expensive place in the world. What are you expecting? Switzerland is gorgeous. And speaking honestly, I was struggling with the decision to explore Luzern, or take in the view in my room. In my book, that's the definition of an incredible vacation.

Yelp
The Hermitage has a lovely cocktail bar. The staff is very friendly and customer friendly. Cocktails as well as beer and wine menu is quite good. Although it would be nice if the beer menu could have a greater range of IPA, Ambers, etc. The snacks accompanying drinks we've experienced are either cheese, crackers and a variety of nuts. Perfect for Happy Hour.

Yelp
Very nice hotel with great view. It's right front of the lake Lucern and you will feel so relaxed here. Food is great as well although it's Swiss price. At the bar, you can get very good drinks at around 16-18 CHF with complimentary nuts/snacks. This is an excellent deal as it's hardly find anything complimentary in Switzerland. Very friendly service. Room is spacious and quite lovely. I highly recommend it for travelers or just weekend getaway. Breakfast comes with everything including nice cappuccino.

Yelp
Day one arrive late at 11pm tired and starving hungry and am told the restaurant is closed and there is no more room service-no one helped us with our luggage or seemed bothered that we would not be able to eat. We go to the bar for snacks and a glass of wine in despair and are offered nuts and bread and butter!!As a gluten intolerant person not very appealing. It gets worse the next thing is our room key does not work-we go downstairs and are greeted by an empty desk and then an incompetent receptionist who spends 30 minutes on the phone working out how to get our keys working. In despair we ask for the barman to help who rescues us in 2 mins. Not a good start. The room is unbearingly hot, with no air conditioningopen the window and prepare to get bitten to death..need I go on. Ok day 2 after a brief confusion on my order for poached eggs (no one knew what they were) we sit next to the window and are awe struck by the amazing view. Truly breathtaking. The wedding food was truly beautiful though and we had a lovely evening. On check out a small bottle of Prosecco is given as an apology for our first day. Summary-a beautiful setting for a wedding in a picturesque setting, the rooms are comfortable sleep wise but get a verandah and a lake view.

Yelp
3 stars for food, 5 for the lake and should be 5 for staff but food is soooo expensive for what it is. 42sfr for the burger. Fries were interesting. The side of red cabbage was fabulous. Burger was raw inside. I didn't question as I was running late. Boat parking is great. Super crowded on sunny weekends but I'm not really sure why. Prepare to drop 250sfr for 2 adults and 2 kids. Ouch. Still between 3 and 4. Very peaceful lake side.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay at the hermitage! We found the location to be excellent, there was a bus stop right outside the doors that is a 10 min ride to the main train station and it came frequently! The location right on the water is also very nice. We had a balcony room and it was beautiful and lovely to wake up to every morning. I thought the beds were comfortable, but my fiancé did not. The water in the room is very hot, but I did find that getting in and out of the shower/tub was a little unsafe seeming, especially if you are wet as there was a large part you had to step over with nothing to hold on to. The bar, lounge, and restaurant were nice but when we tried to get into the spa area we could not, even though in was during open times. The staff was nice and helped us look some things up. The mini bar items are very expensive! They charged us a fee that we were unaware of but it was only about 40 dollars for 5 nights. It got hot in the room at night and there was no AC or heating unit so we had to open out balcony door sometimes to cool off. All in all, it was a good stay and I would stay there again.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here our first trip to Switzerland and it was amazing. Being away from the city and lakefront was very peaceful. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We were able to ride the bus into town and have bikes readily accessible to go out onto the hillside. The cafe and dragon fruit snacks in the room were a delicious treat. Their restaurant had a fine selection of cheeses and good wine. We will definitely be visiting the Hermitage again!

Yelp
The location of this hotel and its two restaurants with panoramic views and open air terraces looking right over Lake Lucerne have always been a good reason to go..the food was also good, but quite frankly the decor was very old fashioned and VERY 'tired'. However, last year under the direction of Thomas Egli the Hotel Manager , the hotel and all its restaurant facilities have now been brought right into the 21 Century. There are two main restaurants. Both have been similarly renovated. For lunch we were in "Restaurant Hermitage". It is all sleek polished wood floors, modern beige stone feature walls ..and a stunning fireplace to bring cosiness into the long winter days coming.....think cool Scandinavian modern chic ..and still with those 'take your breath away' views over Lake Lucerne to the mountains beyond. Haven t seen the hotel rooms recently but I believe they have also undergone major renovations too. Now what about the food you ask? Well let me tell you in one word Wow! no, lets make that three words..'Wow wOW and WOW!" Thomas Egli s kitchen team have also been inspired to totally revamp the menu and when the three of us sat there the other week for lunch, I was lost for choice. The menu is extensive, plenty of choice for the Vegetarian, the Fish lover or the Meat man! but I was holding up the hungry so I quickly recovered as I was intrigued by the Randen-Zwetchensuppe with Ingwer(CHF14)...a beautiful looking soup where all three elements of beetroot, damson plum and ginger shone through. Delicious, delicate and oh so different..soup is usually just soup right? I was savouring it and sad to come to the end of it . My husband had the Kurbis-Orangensuppchen ( pumpkin and orange) and declared it very good too. I should mention that the kitchen chef is sourcing his vegetables from just down the road at Weggis so 'slow food'! Bravo!! Our host also was enjoying his food but this review will become a novel if I don t watch it! So another major innovation in the kitchen is its "Swiss Gourmet Grand Cru" meats cooked in a specially imported USA oven. The meat is cooked at 800 celsius ...the result is the best tender juicy ( 300 gm -CHF 69, Rib eye) steak this Australian gal has had in Switzerland yet. It came with a choice of several great steak sauces and vegetable sides but I have to confess, I only sampled the sides and concentrated on trying to finish the steak(whilst enjoying the tasty bearnaise sauce) as it was sooo damn good! Of course "Wild' is in season now, so Hubby and our host chose Damhirsch(Venison) Schnitzel (CHF34-46) again sourced from (Ennetbuergen )Switzerland like most of their meat . It came with a "wild" Cream sauce, cranberry in a baked apple, local autumn vegetables. and Spaetzle. I had to be quick to take a photo! The boys were very happy. Our host complimented it with a good local red Italian wine from the Toscana ..but I can t give you details. Sadly no room for dessert so just a coffee and if you have been following me, in my case, a tea...and a very nice choice of teas they offered too. The Staff were very efficient very friendly, totally professional. One of the best value for money and exciting meals we have had in Switzerland in a long time! Thomas Egli and his amazing Kitchen chefs and team...take a bow!

Yelp
So my lover and I took my parents off to picturesque Luzern last weekend. After gallivanting up Mt Pilatus and around the city centre, we headed to our hotel jumped on the bus and jumped off at the 'Hermitage' stop, opposite the hotel. Walking in to the See-hotel, the design I instantly like, dashes of colour on the walls and in sculptures. The ladies at reception were very helpful and efficient which is no surprise, considering I am in Switzerland, but they were warm and genuinely friendly, which was welcoming. We got our room keys quickly and went through an open planned bar to our rooms. The location of this hotel is in a prime spot, overlooking the incredible Lake Luzern and across the water, the view of Mt Pilatus standing so strong capturing the light. Truly stunning! The bar, lifts and rooms have plenty of glass for you to be mesmerised by the view night or day! We went for a Superior Deluxe room which had a simple, open planned design, where the bathroom with shower, bath and loo were all in the one room so you won't be missing a second of the breathtaking view that is open to the lake and Mt Pilatus The bed was big and comfortable and all the discreetly positioned in the room. We dined at the hotel restaurant called Rosegarten, also showing the remarkable view. The vegetarian dishes were superb; the meat dishes were creative and the service again genuinely friendly, efficient and unpretentious, a wonderful meal to top off an incredible day. Rising with the light I opened my curtains and then both sliding doors to display the stunning view across the water and snuggled back underneath he duvet it was early, the air was crisp and clean and the light was spectacular on the natural beauty. The sights and sounds of distant rowers and birds on the lake were joyous time slipped by and I never tired of the view In my opinion and my lovers, it was the best view from a hotel room we've come across. This modern hotel, location and staff were exceptional, which made it hard to leave on Sunday morning, but it was a real treat and I would recommend this to friends or family, most definitely. Enjoy!!

Yelp
I had to be in Germany for work so my husband and I decided to make a quick stop in Switzerland first. We chose this hotel after a lot of research. It was just outside of the main part of town (just a short bus ride away or a long walk of you are adventurous). 100% of the rooms in this newly renovated hotel face the lake with absolutely breath taking views. What struck me the most about this place was when we opened our sliding glass doors, we heard nothing but silence as if time had stood still. The room was spacious and clean with loads of little touches that made it a weekend we will never forget. The staff were friendly and pleasant. This hotel was half the price of the high end hotels in town just a couple of miles away but it far surpassed our expectations. We will definitely visit again.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, beautiful lake view! The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. My only complaint is that there was construction outside our window most of the day!

Yelp
I recently booked a suite for 3 nights with my wife. Although the view from our room was beautiful the front desk staff were cold, indifferent and totally unhelpful. Took them 2 days to get us converters for our phones, were not helpful at all about suggestions for sightseeing and we're annoyed every time we asked a question. Hotel is also out of the way.
