"Since 1989, the customers of this eclectic pizzeria have been writing messages, place names, or otherwise doodling on one dollar bills which are then glued to the walls, tables, ceiling or anywhere else they will fit. According to servers, there is now around $40,000 covering the interior. Look for your hometown, state or alma mater, or just enjoy the many funny comments while feasting on excellent pizza. The practice of decorating with one dollar bills on which customers wrote messages began when one of the employees suggested it would make for an interesting and fun décor. The owner was skeptical but agreed to take the employee’s bet that he could have 20 bills posted by the end of the ski season. With some rather open bribing of customers, the employee won the bet and the rest is history. To this day, customers can ask wait staff for a marker and create their own work of art to add to the ever-growing collection. Know Before You Go The place is extremely popular so reservations are generally a must." - 540shilohridge

Great experience all the way around. Pizza was really solid. They weren't shy about the toppings either, which was a refreshing surprise. The family sized salad was excellent too - no skimping on the ingredients. Our kids ate all the chicken alfredo, so it must have been good. Service was fast and friendly too

Made reservations the night before for a party of 5 at 5:45 on a Saturday. Showed up at 5:30 to check in and we were seated at 5:45 on the dot. Table was a little cramped but we were fine since we had a couple of kids. Ordered some drinks and a spinach and artichoke dip appetizer. Came pretty quick and everything was delicious. We also ordered a few pizzas and those came out shortly after the apps. Everything was delicious! If I had to critique anything, it would be that the meatballs that were ordered as a topping is really just ground beef spread around. Not really a meatball... Which makes the kids sad. Our server was great and the food was great also. Just be prepared to wait if you don't have a reservation!

I have been going here since I was a kid. I still remember it when it was across the street! You are able to make reservations, which I recommend as walk ins often have over an hour wait. The food is great!! Better if you dine in. Take out ends up getting a little soggy. Service is great. Beer in the mason jar is great. It's all great! Even the dollars on the wall. Go to Hernandos! Thank me later.

The times we've visited Hernando's it has been busy, lively, and noisy, the perfect atmosphere for a family of seven adults arriving at Winter Park in a mood for fun. They even sat us at the same table! The servers are quick off the mark, friendly, and accommodating. The menu is built around a good selection of salads, pizza, pasta, and Italian sandwiches. Everyone enjoyed the family-sized Green Garden salad. Anchovy pizza! Yum! (For my middle son and I, everyone else detests it.) But they had plenty of their own choices (Chicken Parmigiana, vegetable sub, supreme pizza) and all the food was great.

I have been coming here for decades and always enjoy ordering food and having a beer at the bar while I wait. The bartenders are excellent with a good selection of beer, while the food is always delicious. This last trip, I was hungry from the drive up the mountain and a day on the slopes. Didn't want to make dinner and was by myself, so I ordered a Stomboli with pepperoni and sausage. My condo was up the road, so I walked there. Once again, everything was incredible.

Hernando’s Pizza in Winter Park is a must-visit if you're in the area. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, welcoming vibe. The restaurant has a cozy, rustic feel, and the walls covered in dollar bills signed by past guests add such a fun and unique charm—it really makes the place memorable. The staff is friendly, attentive, and clearly care about providing great service. Even on a busy evening, we were seated quickly and never felt rushed. The menu offers a great variety of pizzas with plenty of topping options to choose from, and you can tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients. We ordered a half-and-half pizza so we could try more than one kind, and both sides were delicious. The crust was just right—crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside—and the sauce had great flavor without being overpowering. The garlic cheese bread was also a hit—warm, cheesy, and full of flavor. This is the perfect spot for families, friends, or anyone looking to relax and enjoy a great meal after a day exploring the mountains. Hernando’s is more than just a pizza place—it’s a Winter Park tradition we’ll happily return to every time.

Yelp
We finally got to bring our kids up to winter park and come to hernandos - a dream of ours. We had a great experience and the pizza was delicious.

Candace P.

Yelp
Our family has been coming to Hernandos for years when we go to Winterpark or Grand County. They have the best pizza ever! Fast, easy reservations can be made on Open Table during busy season.

Anissa G.

Yelp
Food 3/5. The garlic bread and marinara sauce were delicious. The pizza was slightly underdone, but the twisted, thick crust was very good.

Monique L.

Yelp
Great atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. We had pizza at the bar because there was an hour wait fir a table. I left happy, full and seen as a customer. If ever in the area again, I will definitely be back.

Yelp
I visited this pizza parlor with friends while out in Colorado for a trip. We went on a Sunday night, and the place was a bit crowded. Some of us waited at the bar, others in the front where we fit. The place was pretty cute though. It was 6 of us, so we decided to get a pizza and 2 orders of a dozen wings. Our waiter suggested that we get the cheese bread as well "because it was popular and really good", so we did. Everything was good, but I can say the cheese bread was a bit overrated. As far as prices, they were a bit much. I just remember the total coming out to be around $115 for a few items. Cool experience though. Thanks for keeping us warm with the fire place behind us!

Donald L.

Yelp
We loved it here!! The $$ on the walls just added to mystic. We were told to arrive early... we did just that, and still had to wait to come in. It gets busy quickly. We were not here during the busy season, but fresh snow created a ski rush from all around. Excellent pizza, fun servers. Would totally come back if i have the chance!

Sara K.

Yelp
Service was just okay. Pizza was good but the bottom of the pizza was really flimsy and almost soggy? Would probably go again to give it another try.

Allen A.

Yelp
This gluten free pizza is the Bomb !!!!!!!!! One of the best I ever had. We just got takeout so I don't know a lot about the vibe inside but wow the pizza is good. Love it !!!!

Kim F.

Yelp
I had been here years ago... it was a bit nostalgic for me to bring my family for dinner... I love the ambiance and the fun dollars all over the place... we added ours and will look forward to coming back and looking forward to finding our dollar art... Service was great! Everything came out just as ordered We had 2 pizzas and my hubby was so impressed with the taste and flavor. We had a basic pepperoni and then a supreme... they were so good. Of course having honey to dip the crust was amazing! We also enjoyed some wings, they were devoured quickly by the hubs and grandkids ... I'm sure we will be back and I'm happy to share hernandos with my family

Warren M.

Yelp
Great pizza great atmosphere , staff is very intelligent and fun too !! We were late and had a larger group but they were super friendly

Misty P.

Yelp
Wow! We didn't have reservations (highly recommended to do so on Open Table), and this placed was packed. It was expected since this is the number one ranked restaurant in Winter Park - and for good reason! We patiently waited for an hour and 40 minutes. Lilly, the hostess, was so kind and kept us updated on where we were on the list. Once we were seated, the manager Christian thanked us for waiting and chatted with us. And we had the best waitress - Maddy. The food came out fast and Maddy continually filled our drinks! The pizza and pasta were delicious. If I could give this place 10 stars I would! Overall amazing experience!

Marc M.

Yelp
Locals agree, this is the best pizza place in all of Winter Park. And we weren't disappointed! This was also our introduction to Colorado style pizza. We were surprised at how delicious pizza is with honey.

Megan K.

Yelp
Great local spot. The pizza was good, the crust especially. I personally would stick to the classic flavors (pepperoni, etc). The garlic bread was overcooked but it didn't stop us from eating it.

Yelp
We were in town for a couple of days and we wanted to get some pizza. We got a recommendation from a guy selling some nice rings near the amphitheater in town. We drove up to Hernando's and there was already a crowd formed outside waiting for them to open at 5pm...their website says "Life's too short to eat bad pizza", so I took that and the line as good signs. We walked in went to place the order at the bar; there is plenty of seating and would've loved to dine in but half our party was at the house....we order plain cheese, the Column 1(meat lovers) and Bar-B-Que. ran us under $80 for the 3 pies, and they made them from scratch so it took about 15-17 minutes. The Column 1 was inhaled in no time; and the cheese pizza was gone right after; the party ran through half the BBQ pizza and then we called it. They give you honey for the pizza crust and plenty of crushed red pepper flakes and cheese to go. Pies were really really good, even my son inhaled his crust. The have a great patio space that would be perfect to enjoy a slice and a cold . Great pizza, friendly staff, nostalgic decor and great seating space inside and out. I'd highly recommend it!!

Nicole S.

Yelp
Wow! My friend from CO recommended this place and it has steadily provided for every winter park visit I've been on! The drinks are bomb - although I would recommend avoiding the bramble. The rest are great, and the beer and wine options are more than you need at a pizza place! They have great gluten free options too - gf pizza crust, and two gf beers plus a cider. Our waitress Sarah H was the best waitress in the entire town honestly! This was the best place to come for St Paddy's day and I can't wait to come back next time I'm in town!

Aaron L.

Yelp
Good value and good quality / quantity for the money. Pizza has a lot of toppings and is not a overpriced like a lot of most places in a mountain town. The service is excellent.

Don K.

Yelp
Great for what it is. Pizza was good. Chic parm also good. Pretty standard fair. Clean and good service. Always busy, too

Zach L.

Yelp
Place was slammed and service was still pretty fast. Stromboli was not what I expected- a tad small; Flavor was still good and it would go great with a light Pilsner or another light beer.

Taylor C.

Yelp
Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing atmosphere! We came in after a day of skiing and it was such a great choice! We were with a group of 16 people and this was our one meal out of the cabin. Our waitress was super accommodating and helpful with providing recommendations for our large group to share food family style. We had the antipasta salad - which was delicious & fresh! And shared 6 pizzas! We tried the sausage, pepperoni, white garlic, Hawaiian, BBQ chicken, and cheese pizzas and all of them were delicious! My personal favorite was the white garlic - I LOVE a white pizza! Plus, they have honey on the table to add to your pizza, and the honey + white garlic pizza was the perfect combination of sweet & savory! Also, they had such a fun dive bar vibe with the entire restaurants walls covered with dollar bills signed by past guest! Such a gem of a restaurant! Plenty of parking in the parking lot. Would recommend making a reservation for larger groups bc this place was busy on a Monday night!

Sammy C.

Yelp
After a long day of fishing/skiing, we chose Hernando's for dinner. I was impressed that our group of 5 was seated immediately, considering we came during the weekend dinner rush. The staff was SUPER friendly, service was excellent, and the pizza was the best Colorado-style pizza I've had. Dare I say it was better than Beau Jo's! Their crust to topping ratio is much more balanced IMO, and obviously have honey to dip your crust in. I highly recommend the "pesto pizza." It had great flavor, and wasn't too rich. Definitely give them a shot, they may be your new favorite Colorado-pizza restaurant!

Nick B.

Yelp
Hands down best pizza I've ever had. The crust was amazing and fire roasted. Soft yet crunchy. Also got a house salad and garlic cheesy bread with marinara and both were great. The ranch was fantastic and def home made. Atmosphere was really cool with a pub type feel and near fireplace in the middle. The entire walls and ceiling were covered with dollar bills that looked paper mache. Service was great and food came out in perfect time. When in Winter Park this place is a must.

Michael R.

Yelp
Great pizza! Top 5 in my lifetime for sure. If you are in the winter park area I would definitely recommend trying this place out! Service was great. Seating was a little tight but not bad after getting used to it. P.S this place is known for putting honey on the crust. Was a little iffy at first but after trying it is now one of my new favs!

Mary M.

Yelp
Alfredo pizza was amazing! Our server was very kind and helpful with suggestions. Came from Texas and decided to give it a try and was not disappointed!!!

Dalia G.

Yelp
The pizza was soooo good Service was efficient and outdoors seating area was pleasant

Natalie H.

Yelp
Ordered takeout on a Friday night. Very friendly staff on the phone! But, the food was pretty pathetic. We ordered 2 chicken Parmesan entrees and a salad. The chicken is the thinnest cutlet I've ever seen and it wasn't breaded, just topped with a boatload of cheese and sauce that actually didn't have a ton of flavor. For over $40, I sort of expected more. I have ordered pizza from here and it is quite good. Perhaps opt for pizza instead of the entrees. The salad was okay. We ordered a large and it was enough for 2 people. The dressing was VERY sharp.

Tyler W.

Yelp
Pizza was good beer was cold! Guy behind the bar was friendly, we showed up fairly close to close, he didn't make us feel rushed at all and we hit the road happy.

Kristen R.

Yelp
Yes we enjoyed. Gluten free was wonderful. Patio was great. Meatballs were very good and homemade!

Sam V.

Yelp
Terrible service coupled with horrible food at outrageous prices makes this place a must skip. Do yourself a favor and buy a frozen pizza from the grocery store

David W.

Yelp
Very popular place, packed inside. Pizza is good, but pricey. Is an okay option. I don't think you go to Winter Park for pizza, but it's an okay option in a bind.

Callie S.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite places to go every time we visit Winter Park! We had 4 adults and 2 kids. The kids shared a 10inch cheese pizza. The four adults shared three 10inch pizzas (Sonoma, Column I, and Alfredo), Large Greek Salad, and Family size Cheese Bread. We had 3 slices and several cheese bread slices to take home. An added bonus, save your crust for the end and add honey to make it a dessert.

David S.

Yelp
Came here a couple of years ago from Dallas Texas and absolutely loved it. Had to make sure and stop back by while we're in town. Very good pizza and very nice staff.

Tracy B.

Yelp
We look forward to visiting Hernando's Pizza Pub and their excellent wait staff every time we visit Winter Park. We love the ambiance and the food is outstanding! A lot of food choices and very reasonable prices.

Rich D.

Yelp
Outstanding pizza and salads. The female bartender was 100% top-notch, friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating.

Terry C.

Yelp
Very good pizza joint! Family friendly - definitely a mountain restaurant feel. Service was fantastic and the pizza was AMAZING!!!

Heather W.

Yelp
Fast service great pizza. Love the crispy and chewy pizza crust. Small parking lot and big ambiance!!

Chris C.

Yelp
Ordered takeout, chicken Parmesan and ravioli with pesto. The chx Parmesan was just bad, they give you a grilled piece of chicken, who does that? And the pesto ravioli literally just had a glob of pesto on top, not even pesto cream just oily pesto. $30 for very disappointing food. Save your money and go to James Peak pizza down the street instead the chicken parm is amazing there and the owner is super nice.

Ly V.

Yelp
We were visiting from Cali and had already had a few bad experiences in the winter park area with food so we were hesitant to go to a pizza joint called Hernandos. It didn't make sense on paper, but it made perfect sense when we got there. We got a late lunch so when we called for a party of 6 they didn't have an ressies til 9, we were ok with that. We got there, kindly greeted. Our waiter was this awesome, super attentive dude with a long beard. Looked like he belonged on a bike across county somewhere but he was the best waiter ever. He gave us really good recommendations, attentive to our request, and never made us feel rushed, although we were one of the last tables left My youngest wanted some wings, and though it was pricey, it was well worth it. The wings were cooked perfectly, they weren't your tiny teeny wings, and the flavor was on point. I wanted pasta, but our waiter recommended the lasagna instead and that was pretty epic. I don't think I've ever had a lasagna that taste so good and homemade. As far as the pizza, this is as best as it gets. The original pizza with whole wheat crust, so you can eat it with honey is what I would recommend. If you want to try what Colorado pizza taste like this is it. From service to food~~~ five stars all the way!!

Riley H.

Yelp
The pizza was so good! We ordered pepperoni, BBQ, cheese bread, and a salami and had a great dinner. The wait time on our order was long, but it was a busy weekend at Winter Park. So yummy day of, and as leftovers!

Sanaz M.

Yelp
I love this place I truly do they have some great pizza. You can't go wrong with any of the pizza options plus we make a point to always come here for the food. The honey at the end with the pizza crust is awesome also! I haven't had any other pizza in winter park area cause we enjoy the place and people here so much. Unfortunately our last visit was not so bueno, and actually it's been our last two visits. We knew we were showing up 30-40 min before closing snd made a point to exit at 9:30 pm. Our service was not so great yet cause we can do late in the night we tipped well. We chopped it up as not so great due to our poor choice showing up close to closing... btw- we were not the last ones out. Plenty others around snd at the bar were still hanging and having a great time. So we came back at open the next day, and it went downhill fast. We got the same server and not once did she check on us. I asked for more napkins and water. Neither came... we did get the pizza and when it fell on the floor what was left of it the server picked it up and left then brought our tab. Not a fun situation. Oh and btw the pizza fell on the floor cause my husband was sharing his water with me across the table since I couldn't find our server to ask for a replacement. We were not happy but we did love the pizza. Our bill came wrong and I had to go find the server to correct the bill. Needless say it was not a good experience for our family and I was down about the repeat serving experience we left we paid and called it good. I wish we had the option like all the tables around us to have a water pitcher to fill up our own waters. Not one water refill occurred even after my husband and I finished our water. I love the food here and the atmosphere but we kind of feel like our service wasn't the best so it's hard to think we may return for in house seating. Going forward if we order the pizza we will take it to go because it truly is amazing. I've had other servers here and it truly was good and so was the service we just got repeat two nights in a row not so great.

LINDA P.

Yelp
Delicious pizza, great crust. Fun retro atmosphere and very helpful waiter. We come here whenever we are in town. A real favorite.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Amazing pizza and service. And don't knock putting the honey on the crust until you try it! AMAZING!

Russ E.

Yelp
This was our first meal when we came to town, as I had done some Yelp research and saw they had Colorado style pizza with the honey and rolled crust. You can tell this place has a lot of history. Our waitress could not have been any better and the antipasta salad and pizza was fantastic. We will definitely be back!

Melanie A.

Yelp
Delicious pizza! I was really happy to find celiac safe pizza in the mountains. Upon ordering, tell them you have celiac or a gluten allergy and they will use separate prep utensils, etc. The pizza was yummy and the sausage had a unique flavor - not just the run of the mill chain pizza place sausage. During the pandemic, they are taking orders for take out (and have plexiglass and clean and dirty pen containers upon pickup) and also have distanced tables indoors and outdoors. Staff was friendly and I called ahead for take out which took about 35 minutes, so not bad at all. Great vibe inside and fun quirky decor!

Brent Avery C.

Yelp
I've been going to this restaurant since a kid and I must say Hernando's never disappoints. Everything was amazing, from the service to the atmosphere to the food. The cheese and mozzarella bread sticks were very good. In the picture are the bread sticks individual size (I already had a bite, so there is one less breadstick ). Seriously some of the best pizza I've had. My girlfriend and I split the 10" pizza, which was the perfect size for us after having the breadsticks. The best touch was the bowl of freshly graded Parmesan that I could spoon onto the pizza. The ranch was also great for dipping. Of course the honey on the crust is a must. The price was pretty standard for pizza these days. Overall, I would highly recommend!

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
We're from Houston, TX and had dinner with friends. We were highly impressed! The food was great, we had shrimp scampi pizza and and meat lover's build your own pizza with a garlic crust and salad. The honey they give you to eat with your leftover crust was a nice touch as well. That or you can order pizza crust as a dessert. My friend loved their ranch water, said it's the best she's ever had. They also had laminated dollar bills from millions of customers pasted on the walls. Made for great conversation pieces. The service was great at Hernando's from the time we walked in the door throughout our dining experience. I highly recommend stopping there to enjoy some great food, a cozy environment and possibly leave a decorated dollar bill to add to their massive collection!

Jill H.

Yelp
Worth the hype and the wait. Third visit over the years to this pizza joint and while I think their following has grown, we've always had a great experience and good food. Tonight my husband arrived when they opened at 4:00 and there was already a significant line of hungry peeps waiting for opening. He added our name to the list. We finished window shopping and returned at 4:45 and were seated within about ten minutes. Not bad at all. By the time we left around 6:20 the walk-in wait was over an hour. We got four varieties of pizza (two 10" build-your-owns, a 14" BBQ, and a 14" Mediterranean. All were fantastic. I was sampling the latter two specialty pizzas. Hard to choose a favorite but I'd go with the Mediterranean- it was so flavorful and yummy! We all opted for rolled crust (both white and wheat versions tasted great) and finished each slice with honey drizzle in the crust - delicious! Hernando's is generous with toppings, unlike some places you go to. All around great meal and we had some left over slices to enjoy tomorrow. As for atmosphere, whether it's your first visit or not, it's fun to check out the variety of decorated dollar bills on nearly every surface (walls, tabletops, ceiling...) Maybe if you're lucky you'll find one of yours! We didn't but that's okay. Our server was friendly and other staff came by often to refill waters. The only downside was that our corner table was chilly and drafty - it was about 0 degrees outside so the interior of the restaurant away from outer walls would have been better for me. If you have a hankering for pizza while in Winter Park, I recommend stoping by!

Alex B.

Yelp
We bought 2 large pizzas, both tasting like a frozen pizza from your local Safeway. Even though we ate all the pizza, we recommend you buy or build a brick oven. The skiers who travel to Winter Park deserve to have a better pizza for their vacationing stay. Sincerely Alex and Jim

Lauren R.

Yelp
Hernando's really hits the spot post a day on the mountain. We cane with a group of 7 and got a family style greek salad, a dozen wings with blue cheese and ranch, and 4 pizzas including the pesto, veggie, bbq chicken, and a custom. We also had a couple pitchers of beers. Everything was great! We had a good time and the vibe was chill. We walked in on a Thursday night at 7 and we were able to get a table no problem. There is a cozy fireplace in the middle of the space. The decor is fun with dollar bills and a model airplane. I've heard the food in winter park isn't amazing but you can't go wrong with some pizzas.
