This place has ‘Korean Lite’ food. Not as good as my Mom’s kimchi, but creative drinks (Oops I did it Again- is a passion fruity take on a Moscow Mule & the Korean Martini was interesting) and tasty food. We had the “veggie not chicken” which is breaded cauliflower in a spicy sauce, seaweed salad, the sticky rice and “chicken hero” (assortment of chicken dishes) lots of food -we ordered too much. Very shareable. Service was good, but slow. The usual Paris speed of lingering, not the American eat n’ go. It seemed one waitress had all ten tables upstairs. Cramped , but cool space and my teen loved the Kanye West and rap background music. Hip vibe. Definitely recommend!

Industrial style interior. Cool waitress/bartender. Warm reception. I arrived at about 14:00, an very late lunch hour. Although, this place doesn’t seem to set a time limitation to serve lunch. The lunch menu consists of two vegetarian choices: tofu or vegetable bibimbap. I chose fried chicken with spicy source which is kind of their specialty here. As there is no side dish accompanying the chicken, I took white kimchi. Fortunately, I took rice with them, cause these two are quite salty. Actually, it would be great to come here for a drink, order a bottle of beer and some fried chicken. The portion of chicken is huge, that I could not finish in the end. So it is better to share with friends.

Kind of expensive. The fried chicken is good but what really stole my heart was their twist on the dubboki. You must eat it!! It’s so tasty and unique that I haven’t stopped thinking about it ever since I ate it. Oh yeah and the pork bun is quite good. It’s juicy and full of flavour!

Having lived for 5 months in Korea i ate my fair deal of fried chicken. At Hero, it is almost as good as in Korea. Really tasty and good chicken. BUT, several cons: - very expensive for what is delivered (14 euros for 4-5 pieces of chicken) without any side dish. You go out of this place still hungry unless you spend >20 bucks (a bit much for the area and lunch time) - cold atmosphere. The waitress was not very nice to us. - too hipster. The decor and people didnt give for a second the impression that we were at a Korean place. All in all, had high hopes and it was good to go there for one time, but this place cant make me a regular. Looking forward for improvements

Book your table before coming if not you have yo wait for a while or eat at a bar Delicious chichen but their hot spicy chicken is not really spicy for me. Cocktails are nice too, try Violet L'innocente you will like it :)

Google
Innovative and delicious cocktails! Pictured are the Violette L'Innocente (refreshing and floral!) and the Whiskey Baesuk. We also got the Makolada's which were tasty and quite strong for a frozen cocktail. Didn't take any pictures of the food because we were too excited to eat it—recommend getting the Hero if you want to sample all 3 kinds of fried chicken and the Riz Supréme! Our favorite chicken was the Garlic. The Spicy isn't TOO spicy, so I would recommend as well. Service was kind and attentive and the waitstaff speaks English. Funky and fun atmosphere.

Not located in the best district in Paris (especially at night) but this stylish place offers yummy Korean food (the fried chicken is to die for) and amazing cocktails at a very good price!

Lovers of asian and fusion food, we went there after a tour on the website and quick read on the reviews and were looking forward to try their dishes. The place looks quite the same as the pictures. The food though, it was terrible. We had little buns with meat, a plate of asparagus ... or was it mayonnaise with a little bit of each with ? What was that ? I'm ok with mayonnaise, but a little bit ! And the zucchinis .. well at first it's not bad, but at the end it get a bit too strong. Well, there is no hot tea served there as well. We finished that ( we don't like to waste ... ) , and went out very quickly, not even trying a desert we looked at on the menu when we arrived, not wanting to risk wasting any more money than we had already .... Well for a beer, 2 very small buns, 1 plate of asparagus ( fresh ? ) and a little bit of zuchinnis, it costs us around 35 € already ... yup . Well if it's tasty, we're ok spending money on food, but definitely not that. Skip and go to Roccoco instead if you're in the area. Not the same, yup, but you'll definitely have a better value there :)

Yelp
Despite the amazing food and cocktails in this place, the service is beyond rude. I live in Paris so I know the difference between rude and your typical indifferent service is. However Hero, actually shocked me, the Eastern European waitress was disgustingly rude to us, argumentative over a simple mis-order, which should have been a simple solution. It's like she got off on being a combative, rude b€£%@. I have never in my ten years in Paris experienced such service, and for this reason alone, I will never come back to Hero nor recommend it to any of my friends. We had planned to stay for more cocktails but because of this waitress and how aggressive and rude she was to us, we decided not to out of principle. [lesson to the managers, this is how you LOSE revenue and customers] Do not come here unless you want to be treated with complete and utter disrespect.

Yelp
I FEEL IN LOVE WITH somek (soju + beer), gogchujang (korean chicken) and the whole evening vibe. Me and my friend had a great time during the rainy night. But the only bad point is that it's not a place to catch up and laugh loud at the place for other client.

Yelp
I'm giving this place one star because I can't give them zero stars!! Some background: I heard about Hero a while ago and was really excited to get to try it. Unfortunately, when we got there the bartender briefly greeted us and then proceeded to completely ignore us to the point that we had to leave. I raised my hand to ask him a question about the menu, he told me to wait a second and then proceeded to chat to 5 different people (who already appeared to have drinks/snacks) or did other things at the cash register instead of acknowledging that we were there! We felt so disrespected!! I was really disappointed considering I traveled to Paris from San Francisco excited to try this place!

Yelp
Pretty good. Hero is a good place to go to for a chill night out with a friend, topped with delicious Korean fusion and tasty cocktails. My friend and I came on a Thursday night without reservations. I definitely didn't realize how packed/popular this place is, since the only space we could get was at the bar on the bottom level. We didn't see the rest of the restaurant presumably on the top floor, but make sure to make reservations if you don't want to sit at the bar! I got a 2NE1 drink, and we shared the ddukbokki, Hero chicken, rice banchan, and the pork buns. Hero is super English friendly for those of you who don't speak the language :) The bartenders were really fun people to chat with as we were waiting for our food. Overall, I thought the food was decent. It's definitely not super super authentic Korean food, but that's not what you come to a place like Hero for. The food is fairly good, but the atmosphere is lively and awesome. I thought the Hero chicken was pretty tasty, and the Hero platter gives you three different chicken varieties to try. The rice banchan was also a good complement to the meal. The pork bun was good, but I didn't feel super strongly about it. Final price came out to be about 30 euros, and given how much food we got, it was a pretty good price. tldr; good chill place to hang out with friends and get tasty Korean fusion food

Ana C.

Yelp
They offer the possibility to try all three types of chicken in one dish so that's really nice (and they were all good !!). Very friendly space, great for hanging out. The staff is nice too. We didn't try any cocktails (but they have fun names). Good prices and atmosphere.

Yelp
I found Hero via other Yelpers' reviewed and decided to try it out. I was able to grab an automated reservation via their website (which I'm glad I did as when we left they were extremely busy). When I arrived we were lead upstairs to our table--The upstairs was a bit cramped and hot, so perhaps be prepared for that. Started the meal with cocktails and some seaweed chips. The drinks were tasty enough but pretty expensive compared to the rest of their menu (I think our drinks were more than the chicken!!) Next up was the chicken. Oh it was absolutely insanely delicious. Had both the garlic and spicy versions along with a pork bun (don't worry--this was all split among two of us). By and large though the pork bun was the tastiest out of everything--highly recommend ordering it!!! Overall a great meal, but definitely on the pricier side for the cuisine as compared to other restaurants in Paris.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch and we were glad we did. This is a funky spot with good food. We had the fried chicken bun, the pork bun and the sweet/spicy fried chicken. Both buns came with slaw and sauce and they were bigger than what I've seen elsewhere. It's not steamed bun but more of a brioche sandwich bun. They were both good but the pork was slightly better. Large chunks of juicy sautéed pork on a soft eggy bun? Better than a burger. The chicken was sweet sticky and a little spicy. I like things extra hot if not nuclear. My mom would think it's spicy. Nonetheless they were juicy, boneless pieces of chicken with some skin (not a lot) still on. This would be good for 2-3 people to share. We'd make this a regular place to visit if we were locals.

Youngjin Y.

Yelp
I was sick of hambuger and pizza and this, place was awesome,to have another plate! So many people visited but the place was not enough. Recommend here who wants to try special plate except pasta and pizza

AJ C.

Yelp
First time to Hero, and our lunch was excellent. Strongly recommend the starters: - bun with pork (definitely a new favorite) - bun with chicken As for the main, highly recommend the spicy chicken with the rice, kimchee, seaweed accompaniment. Although a little pricy, we will most definitely be back.

Staci S.

Yelp
It was decent. I tried all three flavors of their fried chicken and I liked the garlic the best. It was really good!....the spicy not so much. It was a cute place but there was no air conditioning and our waitress was kind of rude. It's a good place if you're looking for something different in Paris.

Yelp
Ohhhh Hero! One of my favorite cocktail bar! why you should go there: wonderful cocktail and good food! Let's start with the cocktails: they had a cocktails menu with around 8 to 10 cocktails max, no classic (no need you know them already!) so you can taste all the yummy and original cocktails they offer. You don't know how to choose? Ask the waitresses, they are nice and they will take the time to explain to you what is what and what to choose depending of your taste! So don't hesitate, surprise yourself! Now the food.... Ohhh the chicken... The nice chicken... Ok that's not only what they serve but if you do like chicken like me , you will love what they do: garlic, chilli, classic... They are all good and if you don't know what to choose, go for the platter with all of them. 18 euros, you share it, it nice and you will lick your fingers! They have also original salad with vegetable I never heard off but I again, I tried, it's tasty and I tried something new. Honestly, Hero is nice, the service is nice and you go out of your habits there without being disappointed! Love it!

Yelp
Venture past the prostitutes, pimps and beauty of the arch at metro Strasbourg St Denis and arrive at Hero, a fusion Korean restaurant run by nobody even remotely resembling a Korean citizen. Upon entering Hero, you're presented with an obstacle course of humans littering a tiny aisle between the bar and a wall. Once past the humans and bar you've got a set of stairs leading to what one would assume is the dining area upstairs, but don't you dare walk up there! Instead, stand with your arms to your side and put on your best "I'm thirsty" face and wait for the bartender to ask you what you'd like. Then if you're on time for your reservation or they've got room, someone from upstairs will come get you. Once seated in the dining area you've got what I can only describe as a confusing menu. They've tried to separate items based on meat type as well as starters or small bites both at the top and bottom of the menu. I decided on a pork sandwich and some fried spicy chicken. Drinks and food were delivered efficiently by a friendly wait staff. The food itself was also quite tasty but... The pulled pork sandwich was nice but the meat was lost on flavor to the heaping amounts pickled veggies and the fried chicken while very tasty (and spicy) seemed too rich; really it reminded me of General Tso's chicken from the states but with too much sauce. Overall I'm rating this a 3 for the following reasons. - layout of the restaurant - confusing menu - price versus value (too expensive!) - lack of shine on the primary ingredients in dishes I would definitely return but will eat at the bar. Oh and if you come to the bar, get there early, don't expect tap beer nor full cocktails - you choose from 6 they're making.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I'm a Korean-American living in NYC Thought Hero was well done, the servers were pretty knowledgeable and the restaurant promoted some good Korean practices (how to serve soju properly etc.). Food and drinks were fun & fusion. Hip vibe and concept, just the type of diversity the restau scene in Paris needs.

Jay S.

Yelp
I would give 5 stars, but there was one waitress named Lisa who kicked us out of our table because a group was coming in! She made us move from one table to another mid-meal for people she personally knew. Very rude. Cool trendy place with delicious food with a decent price. Our other waiter with platinum hair in a ponytail was super nice though and always refilled our cups without us asking!

Natasha H.

Yelp
This place is fun & delicious. My party loved the energy, the cocktails, and the shareable plates. I will return next time I'm in Paris. Food highlights- wings, shiitake dish

Yelp
Listen, I LOVE Paris. I love French Food. The French do so many things so well...however, meat is not necessarily their strong suit. At least I thought..and then came along "Hero". They serve by far, some of the BEST chicken EVER... Def. the best meat of any kind for that matter that I have had in Paris this summer. Plus it is such a COOL place and the the $15 lunch special is a great deal. I LOVE FRIED CHICKEN, however, I am very picky about it. Hero is WINNING. The chicken is juicy, at fresh with a yummy sweet, sour and tangy sauce that does not in anyway take away from the delightfully crunchiness of the crust. I loved it. Cool, trendy, inexpensive place to grab lunch with friends. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great Service. Great Staff. Two thumbs up. Oh and I loved the whole 90's Hip Hop and R&B music they were playing. Gosh, I love this place. Check it out.

Yelp
I went there for a late night cocktail a few weeks ago. I had passed by many times, as it is not far from mine, and, had always been attracted by the smell coming out of the door. I had heard they made incredible cocktails: it was time to test it out. The cocktails were fun and the snacks (that must order with your drinks) were amazing! The cocktail menu is somewhat small which is always reassuring and I felt that the waitress was knowledgeable. We sat at the bar and watched the bartender do her thing while listening to Korean hiphop. It was a nice change from the stereotypical Parisian bistro atmosphere. Overall I had a very nice time and reading through the other reviews I apparently will have to come back for the chicken!

Meg G.

Yelp
Hero was fun. I went with a girlfriend for a dinner date. To start, I love being able to reserve. Not to mention reserve online, so easily. The deco is very snazzy. Original. The projections on the walls is nothing new but it was fun. We were greeted by very friendly staff, even though even standing at the bar for a solid 10mn while waiting didn't urge the bartender to hand us a menu. Whatever. We were seated upstairs, by the ever so friendly staff. I think this is the kind of restaurant that is meant for even numbers. Three people at with "bar comptoir" seating wouldn't go over well in my book. Stick to 2s or 4s. They do however limit you to two hours so it's not the kind of place you go to hang and eat slowly at. Drinks. A short but unique cocktail list. Average Paris prices. Some even have bubble tea tapioca balls.... YUM. I went with the Korean lager bottled, which was just fine. Ok so the food. Chicken comes in 2 sizes: 1/2 for 23€ or a full for 43€. A 1/2 was recommended for 2 people. Seemed kind of illogical as there were 5 pieces that were not easily shareable (unless you're with someone you know really well who doesn't care if you share a piece of chicken with bones or whatever). The fried ness was perfect. The spicy option wasn't as spicy as I expected. Totally fine, just a comment. OH WAIT THE SIDES.... The kimchi Mac 'n cheese was by far one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. I kind of wish they had a meal version of that. We also tried the jellyfish with apples (learned the word "Meduse" in French). It was really yummy and a unique mix. Perfect textures. Long story short the chicken portion was slightly too big with 2 entrees for us. And ordering ONLY chicken seems weird. I guess I'll have to go with a bigger table party to be able to taste some more sides and all. We'll see. As a side note, they played Brandy's "The boy is mine" which made my night.

Allison I.

Yelp
I agree with a few comments about service but I find all french service to be sad and pathetic so this is not a huge surprise. I didn't like that they opened late when I had a appointment and wanted lunch first. I didn't like waiting a half hour for food that came out after others who are after us were served. I have a feeling I know why but it's still unprofessional. I don't know why the chicken was cold when we waited so long. Well scratch that I know why.we ordered rice and they opened late so they had to make it and they cooked the chicken before the rice was ready. Just bad timing and obviously not the dinner. Chef who understands timing. It was not all bad...it was legitimately the most spicy food I have had in France Wich is not a spice loving country. The tofu was great and I'm not vegetarian by any means. Will I come back? Yes there are a few things I still want to try. Do I recommend it? Still on the fence. Meal was ok. Not the best but good enough to give it another shot.

Doug O.

Yelp
Inventive. Amazing. Flavors. Repeat, repeat, repeat! I found this wonderful little place after they were featured on Munchies, making their signature pork buns. At that very moment I knew I had to make the trek should I ever end up in Paris, and I am glad I did. As many of the reviewers have noted, lots of fun cocktails to try and many great dishes. The Korean fried chicken was a rockstar. But, in the most positive of but's, the Pork Bun is the star of the show. Should I be granted a last meal of 1 singular dish, I might go as far as to say this pork bun might just be it.

Georgi M.

Yelp
Really great place and a nice way to enjoy the Korean cuisine... For me a must to visit in Paris

Neal L.

Yelp
Korean Fried Chicken, pork Bun sandwiches and designer cocktails set this place apart Great for lunch the chicken is cooked to perfection. Spice , garlic or natural The Kimchi is tasty as is the special rice.

Francesca G.

Yelp
The drinks here are really good, and service was friendly enough. We sat downstairs at the bar, which was nice as we could see the drinks being made. As a vegetarian, I can't comment on their specialty fried chicken, but we did order a snack which was amazing. When we ordered our drinks we were told we also had to order food, which I thought was weird but apparently having restaurant vs drink licenses is different and technically Hero is a restaurant so you can't have just a drink without eating as well. They do have snacks for about 2 euros though, and we were able to just order one to split between two of us (we came here for after dinner drinks, so I wasn't at all hungry). We got cucumber with kimchi and it was really really good- for 2 euros I would have even splurged and had a couple more if I was even a bit peckish.

Brski B.

Yelp
Hero was packed and the drinks were good, but it also had a colonial feel to it with all the white people buzzing around the 'exotic' food. We ordered ssam (lettuce wrap) with beef, which was far too sweet and came topped with chopped peanuts (what is this, Thailand?). The pork bun was unimaginative and too unrefined with its application of gochujang (red pepper paste). The Hero fried chicken was too sweet and sticky, but not terrible. They also charged for a small side of (bad) kimchi. The food is not bad, but it is not particularly good either.

Marian N.

Yelp
Delicious Korean food- loved the rice cakes, mixed chicken and cocktails. Best to order lots of dishes to share family style. Took about 15 minutes for a waitress to come to our table upstairs despite the place being completely empty when we were there at 130pm.

Diana W.

Yelp
Cocktails are pricey, but very good. Food is very good and pretty well priced. Fun place for a night out with friends. They don't take reservations on prime hours on prime nights because it is so popular. I wasn't a fan of Candaleria, but the group did a really great job with Hero. it's a favorite of ours on deliveroo too for those nights when we want to stay in.

Sunny K.

Yelp
I'm slightly torn to write this review because I very much wanted to like this place more. The atmosphere is great and I generally love Korean fried chicken which you can't get much of in Paris. I'm also partially biased because a friend used to work at Hero. But I really can't get over the quite small portion sizes (relative to the prices) and how everything seemed a bit over-salted. The flavors are good but I think depending on who's working in the kitchen this place can be quite good or just meh...

Anouk B.

Yelp
Food is great, but unfortunately staff is horrible, impolite and can't count. We had a big argument about the bill after. It was quite an unpleasant ending of the evening. Dommage!!!

Thomas B.

Yelp
This place is delicious and quite affordable. On a recent vacation in Paris, we HAD to eat at Hero twice...it was so good. Although every chicken plate is fantastic, I prefer just the fried one. It's large enough to share with a few other sides. If you are in Paris, make the trip...you may want to make reservations though.

Lara E.

Yelp
the fried chicken: delicious spicy sauce, hearty & crispy crust, and juicy inside. demi is plenty for two people. the sides: jellyfish salad is light and fresh. kimchi mac & cheese is a delight but the macaroni was so teeny. the cocktail with tapioca : yes the dessert : good not great. i'm full.

Joy A.

Yelp
Hip and creative Korean food with a twist. Had spicy kimchi and cucumber kimchi- delicious! Pork bun to die for and the carpaccio too. The cocktails pair perfectly with the food. Friendly service from a pretty polite Dutch lady who was so helpful. Intimate and quirky decor. Highly recommend this happening little place.

David D.

Yelp
The servers were excellent, but the food took forever to come out and were mediocre. I ordered the kimchi du jour, rice cake with shitake sauce, and spicy fried chicken. They are nothing special. I've had better in NYC and Washington, DC Korean restaurants and fast food joints. If you really want good Korean fried chicken, go to Bon Chon chicken in Washington, DC or Arlington, VA, USA.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
I was really torn between giving this place 3 vs. 4 stars. If you've never been to a Korean restaurant or eaten Korean fried chicken, then you'll probably love this place. The atmosphere is fun, the staff super friendly, and the food has a lot of bold flavors. However, since many of the dishes I had at lunch this afternoon are renditions of actual Korean dishes found elsewhere, it's hard not to make the comparison. I find myself often using the qualifier "it's great for Paris," and this is another one of those examples. For starters, I've had Korean fried chicken before - everywhere from K-town in NYC to the Bonchon chain to actually eating it in Korea. And though there are different levels of quality between them, they more or less have the same vision of what Korean fried chicken is: shatteringly crisp while maintaining a nice lacquer of sauce. Hero's version is very different and somewhat disappointing: heavy and clunky and drowning in sauce. Don't get me wrong, it's still good! But the spicy version I had tasted like a cross between gochujang (Korean red pepper paste) and the pre-bottled Thai sweet chili sauce I can get at the grocery store. I would go back to try the garlic version, maybe I'd like it better. Also the "3 Korean Snacks" that we ordered are typical side dishes you get for free at Korean restaurants and the bun sandwich would have benefited greatly from simply toasting the bread. All in all, it's a fun place and I give them a lot of credit for the concept.

Daniel D.

Yelp
I would have given this restaurant a 5 star if it wasn't because its service. I went there on two consecutive days. The first day being lunch I assume it wasn't too busy, we got in the waitress ignored us, we sat in a table and then she asked: how did you get here? I found it rude but slightly funny. I lived in Paris for 3 years so I found it the regular aloof / annoyed attitude of waiters in town.We proceed to order, really good food and not too expensive. Next day I went again we another two friends for dinner. Bar downstairs was busy and this waitress was there and since we were in for food went directly upstairs. The guy upstairs said there was about a half an hour wait that we could go downstairs grab a drink and he would get us. There was two stools available and us being three tried to squeeze. The same really bitchy waitress from the day before was there and in full force. First she asked what were we doing there... we explained in French that the guy upstairs said to grab a drink. She said to us she can speak English (no matter how fluent in French am having graduated in university in French Linguistics and her not being French on Anglosaxon herself) and then she proceeded to say there are no tables and there will not be any tables. But there were the stools that apparently we weren't able to take because we were three. We said there was a table outside and since we didnt want to move I suggested that we could sit there. She said like do whatever you want, 10 min later no-one came to take our order and more stools got free inside to what i realised that you could also order food there. We went inside and for 20 min this woman made the most incredible efforts to ignore us. When we said we were ready to order she had a fit and said to us that she was incredibly busy doing her job and couldn't take our orders. If i go to a restaurant as trendy it could be or as cheap it could be I expect a certain level of respect as a client. I am never going again to Hero and I highly recommend not to go as well. This woman deserves to be sacked.
