Had a wonderful short stay here at Herriot's in Hawes recently. Glenn was very friendly and helpful with the booking as it was busy summer holiday period and our room was the last one left. Had a polite and warm greeting when we arrived with questions about our plans and options for walks etc, info about the area and where to eat.. really nice after a long 7 hour drive!||Room was clean, tidy and had everything we need. Home made short bread biscuits always a bonus! Fresh milk in the morning to the room. We were on the top floor, very quiet and a sound, deep sleep ... woke to the sound of the street coming alive ready for a new day which was a treat in comparison to 24/7 disturbance. |Breakfast was varied (order night before) and was well prepared - lovely. ||Glenn took some time to sit and have a chat with us at breakfast after we had spoken to him and was really super helpful and informative. It is apparent that the business is part of the community and they all help each other/know each other and that is one of the wonderful things about Hawes and the business owners. You become part of the life and people there if only for the shortest moment in time. ||One thing to point out is they request you to remove muddy shoes and boots - to keep the general areas maintained ... and you cannot assume to bring large/bulky luggage for storage simply because the property is not a wide expansive hotel. This is not a criticism - simply a nudge to remind people to reach out in advance and ask first! ||Would recommend & have no problem staying again.

A lovely clean and welcoming break. The owners couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. Absolutely stunning views from the room, which had everything we needed. Really comfy beds and fantastic breakfast.||This B&B is perfectly situated in Hawes, within a stones throw of the town, but slightly set back sufficiently to be peaceful. Explored Hawes and surrounding areas, which can all be walked to from Heriotts, which is just lovely.

Our experience here was mid. The rooms are adequate but spartan - bare decor, and towels that you could use to refinish the furniture when you're done drying off. The best way I can describe the proprietor is as someone who doesn't seem to much like guests, but does his very best to be friendly to them anyway. Which would explain how his greeting and interactions with us, while not inappropriate, felt chilly. But despite all that, the place is fine if it's what's available, certainly nothing egregiously wrong with it.

Located in the centre of Hawes and a short walk to the Wensleydale creamery and the Dales Countryside Museum, this is perfect for hikers. Hardraw Falls is also walkable from here (1.5 miles). The one limitation is the lack of parking for cars (luckily for me the owners showed me a spot where I could safely park my motorcycle). The other advantage is that there are plenty of food/drink options within a 3-4 minute walk. The room was quite spacious (I was alone but was lucky enough to be allocated a twin room so had plenty of space. In the corner is window overlooking the Main Street in Hawes, the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was clean. There is a bottle of water, kettle, tea bags and Nescafé coffee powder, sugar and milk for tea/coffee. There is also a hair dryer and a wardrobe. The TV is small but is probably appropriate for the room. The homemade shortbread cookie added daily is excellent. There is an extensive selection of items for breakfast including tea/coffee, cereal (including homemade granola), porridge and various meat options as cooked breakfast part and fruit, Greek yogurt, toast and homemade jam/conserve. Remember to fill in the form and hand in downstairs by evening. I am not a big eater especially at breakfast, and so I chose the fruit, toast, mushrooms and hash browns. This was enough to keep me going till late afternoon without feeling too full. I found the owners Glenn and his wife very friendly and welcoming. After breakfast Glenn asked me what I wanted to do and suggested an itinerary, which was perfect for what I wanted to do (with a few modifications). Definitely recommend staying here. One other suggestion is that I found this through google search and wasn’t showing on the popular travel web sites. Google directed me to a link to book directly and was quite quick and easy.

Very welcoming and friendly hosts. Their local knowledge was helpful. Breakfast choice was good- enabled me to make a different choice each day and each one was well prepared and delicious.|I was due to do Herriot's Walk but couldn't due to backache but the b&b was a great base for shorter walks and trips out - there's so much to see. Hopefully I'll be fit to do|Herriot's Walk in the future and Herriot's will be rhe first choice of accommodation.|Thankyou!

Herriot's is a great place for a short stay. The host Glenn was very informative both in the confirmation email and again on arrival giving us great advice including where to park the car and where to eat in the evening. We had the triple room which was ideal for us (three women travelling together for a photography workshop). Glenn and Liz were perfect hosts and provided nice little touches such as fresh drinking water and homemade biscuits in the room each day and a flask of fresh milk left outside the room door every morning. The location is great for walking around Hawes and provides easy access to the rest of the Yorkshire Dales from the A684.

Just returned from a two night stay at this fabulous B&B. The hosts Glenn and Liz are friendly and informative with lots of local knowledge giving plenty of advice on local walks and things to do in and around the area. The B&B is centrally located with lots of free parking within walking distance. The breakfast was amazing, high quality ingredients cooked by Liz. We can't recommend this lovely place highly enough.
