Hersonissos Village

The hotel definitely needs maintenance, the pool, basketball, volleyball, minigolf and gym look like they’ve not been touched for a decade. Our room was outdated but did the job and had a large balcony, where as our friends had a more modern room but a tiny balcony. There is a horrific stench as you walk up the hilly driveway of the hotel (which you can also sometimes smell from the pool area). There are multiple cats living on site, you can tell they are strays, however there are little bowls of food and water down (I assume places down by the hotel staff) so they are looked after more than you’re average strays. We also saw what appeared to be a stray dog who had recently had pups. ||The views were incredible, especially from the pool and bar, however I don’t think the ‘sea view’ upgrade is really worth it when you can only see a fraction of the view through the other apartments. ||The food is all you can eat, 3 times a day. Very basic and the same things most meals (tea time has different mains most days), They were alright enough to eat, nothing special, However anyone vegetarian/vegan or with allergies will struggle.||Massive shoutout to the bar team who were absolutely wonderful! Dimitris, Nikos and Julia were so friendly, welcoming and constantly made us laugh and smile, even when you could see they were exhausted and a team member down. Absolutely wonderful people! They were the highlight of the hotel and made the stay there worth it!! ||YAMAS!

Our stay at Hersonissos Village & Bungalow was truly wonderful. The food was excellent and plentiful – from a rich breakfast to delicious lunch and dinner. The all-inclusive package is fantastic, as you can enjoy food and drinks from morning until late at night without any worries. The two pools are lovely, and the game room is a fun addition (with only a small fee per play), while table tennis is free. The views are absolutely breathtaking – we chose a sea-view room, and the upgrade was more than worth it. On top of that, we were pleasantly surprised with a fruit platter, excellent wine, and bottled water in the room. The main pool is spacious, ranging from shallow to deep (0.40 m to 3.00 m) and about 15 meters long, which makes it perfect for both relaxing and swimming. In the past we also stayed at Abaton, which is part of the same group. Of course, Abaton is in a different category, being much more luxurious, but we were not disappointed at all with Hersonissos Village & Bungalow. On the contrary, it offered everything we needed for a relaxing holiday, with great food, beautiful views, and excellent service. The rooms could benefit from a few small updates, such as replacing the older flooring and refreshing the bottom of the pool where the paint has faded, but this didn’t affect our stay Overall, everything was perfect, and we would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in Crete.

We visited Hersonissos Village Hotel mid September 25 and were really worried about going due to the reviews we had read before we went.|We are a group of four women who all holiday together once a year and are happy to just be away for a week in the sun.|I wanted to write this review as an honest account of our stay.|The hotel is clean and is in a very beautiful location. As stated in other reviews, it is dated but that's pretty standard for Greece.|Our rooms were cleaned daily with linen and towels being changed regularly.|Air conditioning worked but was noisy. We had a fridge in our room which was old and tired looking and whilst this worked, it was also very noisy.|The food is average and there was a good selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks throughout the day.|The drink was awful, if you drink spirits, buy them at the airport or at a supermarket. Whilst my friends drank the wine and beer (reluctantly), the spirits were undrinkable.|We arrived late on the Friday evening and after checking in, we had food that was put up for us so ate in the dining area at 11pm. Was only cold meats and cheese but they had made the effort to make sure we had eaten.|Staff here are very hit and miss. Most not overly friendly with one female bar member being very rude but a few were happy and smiley. Maybe because it was the end of the season and they were just tired and done with tourists.|Evening entertainment not great with the biggest problem being the small bar area.|We only stayed around the bar one evening as it was difficult to get seated and if you did, you were packed in amongst the smokers which was unpleasant if you don't smoke.|There was an area downstairs away from the bar but this wasn't really great if you wanted to have the feel of being out.|As other reviews have stated, this hotel is up quite a steep hill and whilst it wasn't a problem for us, it could be for others.|The local beaches were ok but most were quite small as they were more like little coves. You'd struggle to get a space if you went later in the day.|The pool did look clean enough and we did go in it and haven't come back with any rashes.|We went down to the town area a few times both during the day and in the evening and, whilst there are a lot of bars, we felt that there was no real atmosphere. No live music or entertainment anywhere, there was music on but it was a bit lifeless. We're ladies in our 50's and upwards so are not 18 year old party animals but the lack of music and atmosphere was a real disappointment.|Overall we had a nice time and like others have stated, the view makes this place. We did the little train to see our surroundings and whilst there were a lot of other hotels, they were a bit out the way and all looked the same.|Hersonissos Village is a quaint and basic budget hotel with lovely views but lacked friendly staff and entertainment.|To sum up, I would say, you get what you pay for. This is misadvertised as a 4 star resort though, I would say more a 3 star budget.|We have visited Portugal a few times over the years and would return but this is not a place we would return to but that's because of the bars and beaches too.

We are currently staying at this hotel and everything is wonderful. Our room 2312 has a beautiful sea view, it’s clean and very quiet. The staff is extremely friendly. The administrator, Alex, did everything possible to check us in earlier than the standard time and has been very helpful with all our questions. The food is tasty and varied. We enjoy the white wine, and the local spirits make for excellent cocktails. We haven’t used the pool, as we came here specifically for the sea. It’s just a short 5–7 minute walk away, which is very convenient. This hotel is a solid 4-star option. We are happy and having a wonderful vacation here.

Very nice staff, clean rooms with (almost always) working A/C, nice view outside. Food in buffet is very tasty. The hotel ist very german/central european focused. The Cats were very nice too, we adopted two kittens!

Great place with stunning view. Rooms seems a bit small, might need some repair but you don't go on vacation to sit inside but enjoy the place. Don't recomend for older people because it's quite steep road to the hotel but if you get a rental car, no problem at all. Companies deliver cars to the hotel and there is decent parking space. The food was good, have no complains. You could get drinks all day. Cocktails at bar were great and the service was excellent. Bartender was very fun and always made us smile. there was often live music or a DJ in the evenings. I really loved that Hersonissos Village isn't far from Limenas Chersonisou with a lot of shops, cafes, restaurants and entertainments. You could just walk there. The closes beach is just 450 m away. If you enjoy planes, they are flying above the hotel quite often but the noise won't bother you at all because cicadas were louder :D We got used to them quite fast.

Definitely not a good experience.. The food was the same every single day pork, chicken, or fish, all cooked with the same spices and no real Greek flavor. The cocktails were just bad full of artificial syrup instead of real ingredients, so everything tasted like cough medicine. If you’re coming as a bigger group, good luck finding a table for dinner it’s a real competition every night. There’s no proper organization, and people literally rush to grab seats. The hotel is also on a very steep hill with a great view, but exhausting to climb during heat. I usually don't leave bad reviews, I love all the places I go but this one was ruined with the below experience at the end. What really ruined the whole stay was how disrespectful the staff were to my friends, who were there for their engagement trip. They had money stolen from their room, and instead of showing concern, the reception laughed at them. That’s something you’d never expect from a hotel claiming to be 4 stars.

1 star The most disrespectful experience we’ve ever had We stayed at Hersonissos Village Hotel for what was supposed to be our dream engagement trip. Sadly, it turned into one of the worst and most disrespectful hotel experiences we’ve ever had. The cleaning lady clearly expected a daily tip and when she didn’t get one, she started acting out of pure spite. She ate the chocolates we had received for our engagement and left the empty boxes on the table, removed our shower curtain for no reason (flooding the bathroom every time we showered), and intentionally skipped changing the towels. On our last day, €50 disappeared from my girlfriend’s wallet, which was inside a closed bag in the room. When we went to the reception to report it, they didn’t even pretend to care. They laughed and said: “Why would she steal only 50 euros?” no apology, no empathy, no respect. It’s not about the money. It’s about how humiliating it felt to be treated like our experience and belongings didn’t matter. We left deeply disappointed and disrespected and I will always regret choosing this hotel for such a meaningful trip. If you value honesty, respect, and peace of mind stay anywhere else.
