Why This Japanese Ski Resort Might Be the Best Place in the World to Ski at Night

"Tucked inside a futuristic metal shed, this techno club pairs a pristine sound system with red lasers and a DJ spinning a down-tempo soundscape that reminded me of Berlin; at 10 p.m. it was still quiet, but I was told the crowd would arrive later, so I lingered over another drink." - Denny Lee Denny Lee Denny Lee is a seasoned editor, writer, and traveler. Had a great experience renting from this location. The Hertz employees were fast and efficient and got me into a nice car without any issues. I rented one way with a drop off in Munich.

Exceptional experience. I had booked a car with ski carrier via a rental car portal. Unfortunately the portal did not convey the message to Hertz and anyhow they so not have carriers on stock. Seeing that I could never fit 5 persons, skis and snowboard into a regular 5 seater, Frau Schöning and Frau Bank did exceptional efforts to find me a bus although all vehicles were rented out for Christmas holiday and it was past their working hours. Thus we could still enjoy a great holiday thanks to the efforts from the 2 ladies!

Outstanding! I was helped by the delightful Jana who was so friendly and efficient with quick service. Thank you for the awesome upgrade!

Getting back my deposit was a nightmare. I've had much better rental experiences with other companies. By the way, which sort of quality service can you expect from a company where employees come and go, all the time? Always new faces behind the counter, If they don't care about their own people, what makes you think that they'll see you as something else from a walking wallet?! Totally amateurs, never again

Do not rent with this branch (or any Hertz Germany branches). Their customer service is TERRIBLE. We had a rental for an entire month and the Europaplatz branch’s phone lines were down FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH. I had no way to reach them, so I emailed and my emails apparently went to spam. We ended up having to take a 45-minute metro journey to go down to their office so they could answer our question (and discover our emails in their spam inbox). We even tried calling the Hertz Germany line and they tried to reach them and couldn’t get a hold of them. How do you run a company without phones?! What’s more, when I asked to return the car 4 days early, they told me there would be a $14,500 charge because that put us under a month and kicked us to a daily rate. While I understand the logic, this is clearly impossible and ridiculous since I wasn’t even asking for a refund of the 4 unused days. I had to spend 7 hours calling Hertz customer service in Germany, Dublin, the US, and Munich before I finally found someone willing to help get the price back down to what it was supposed to be. I nearly had to cancel my plane tickets in order to babysit the car and settle the problem. I have rented cars with many companies in many countries. Never EVER have I had as much trouble as I’ve had with Hertz. Pay for the upgrade and use a more reputable company. You will be glad you did.

Scammers. You rent a car through booking.com for Sunday and everything is ok. You come to pick up, in the window a card Sunday open 8-16 and inside no one. Hertzt hotline does not work, no contact whatsoever. Fortunately, booking.com through the English hotline immediately refunded the money. On the German one, of course, no one answered.

Really bad experience with this station: 1. No signs where to drive in and drop off the car. I rented the car in Frankfurt, never been to this location, so signs are crucial. I drove around 30 minutes the station and could not find the drop-off. The drop off is under the bridge. 2. Drop-off in parking garage is a combined public parking and very poor signs until you get deep in the garage. 3. No one approached you at the drop-off to return the car. I asked and they told me to go upstairs to the main hall: the Hertz front desk. Wrong! Keys should be returned at the drop off. 4. Two ladies at the front desk were extremely rude and did not help when I addressed the drive-in issue and they claimed I had to pay 40 EUR for the drop-off (the ticket you take to drive in and enter the garage). 5. Even Hertz website do not show the right location where to drive in and drop off the car. Impossible for someone who is coming from a different location.

My experience was good. I needed a car for 2 days while visiting Berlin in April. I booked it online in advance. My experience went well. I wasn't pushed to take insurance, but I always take the CDW (why worry...) and asked for it. My subcompact was a Fiat 500 with a six speed stick. Which was fine, very good mileage. Not too peppy though with a 1 litre, 3 cyclinder engine.. the rental garage is in the Hbf garage a few levels down, and the exit and entrance are a little batcave-like, so use Waze for your departure and return. No hassle with the return/dropoff. No onsite receipt was given, but I received my online copy the next day. All was in order. My deposit, 200 euros if I recall, was refunded within a few days. Staff were friendly.
