Nature and Parks in Amsterdam

"On the southern outskirts of the city, het Amsterdam Bos, or the Amsterdam Forest, features lush meadows, winding bike paths and bike rental facilities, an organic goat farm and petting zoo, two cheese farms, and numerous lakes, swimming pools, and sports facilities. You can rent a canoe or pedal boat at Grote Vijver Lake, hire a horse at one of two stables, see a play at the open-air theater in summer, or slide down an artificial mountain in winter. For joggers and gymnasts, a special route features fences, horizontal bars, rings, and balance beams. For nude sunbathers, a patch has been set aside near De Amstelveense Poel Lake." - MATADOR_NETWORK

This beautiful park boasts numerous walk trails. I visited during the Michelin food festival, which was a lot of fun. There was plenty of food, drinks, and places to relax.

We spent over three hours walking through Amsterdamse Bos, and it truly felt like we had left the city far behind. The park is huge, incredibly beautiful, and offers plenty of space for solitude and quiet walks. One of the highlights was the fun goat farm, where we even saw some piglets! There’s also a lovely restaurant nearby, surrounded by deer and peacocks, which adds to the unique atmosphere. A perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam – highly recommended 🦚

Great campsite. Large with glamping, huts & motorhome areas. A couple of play areas for the kids. It was school holidays and the park was quite full and yet didn’t feel busy. We parked overlooking the river and it was beautiful. Facilities were good. Showers were hot & timed at 4 mins but not restricted. Pet friendly Uber into the city around £20-25.

Amsterdamse Bos is a serene escape just outside the city buzz. Lush woodlands, wide meadows, and calm waterways welcome all. Perfect for cycling, rowing, or just lazing under the trees. Kids adore the goat farm, adults find peace in nature’s hug. It’s Amsterdam’s green lung—wild yet wonderfully tamed.

Google
One of the most memorizing parks I've ever visited, you really feel small in there, in the best way possible, you can walk for hours and find cool stuff, beautiful scenery, and you truly get that magical feeling of being in the nature. To get the most of the park I strongly suggest you to rent a bike, because this park will swallow you whole once you venture out, if you are in the area, go and experience it yourself, rake some cool pictures and enjoy!

Google
A huge and very beautiful park. It’s accessible by public transportation, followed by a 15-minute walk from the nearest bus station. It’s an amazing spot to escape the busy atmosphere of Amsterdam — peaceful, refreshing, and absolutely worth the visit. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a quiet break. There are several options for enjoying the water: boats, kayaks, and even electric options. It’s especially peaceful in the morning — you can go for a ride on the lake and barely see anyone around.

I had a wonderful day starting with a visit to Amsterdamse Bos – such a beautiful and peaceful place! The nature, the walking trails, and the calm atmosphere made it the perfect escape from the city. After spending time in the forest, we ended the day at Restaurant Santa Maria Pizzeria & Steak, and it was just perfect. The food was amazing – the pizza and steak were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Great service, cozy ambiance, and a perfect way to end the day. Highly recommended!

Beautiful park that feels like a forest. Amazing for walking and biking around. If you like parks and nature, this place is the perfect combination. A must visit while in Amstelveen.

Yelp
Beautiful forest/park in Amsterdam. I only experienced the serene forest trails (the park is massive so it was not crowded), however it was truly inspiring. The trails are well kept, and the scenery were among the most beautiful I have seen. You can find many locals enjoying the park as well, some bringing their canine best friends. While I walked, if you want to see a larger portion of the park renting a bike may be a good idea. A nice place to wind down a bit after being in the more crowded/busy city center.

Yelp
Great place to spend a few hours when in Amsterdam. Lovely forest trails (though they can be quite soggy so wear good waterproof hiking boots). Check out the labyrinth during warmer months, and be sure to swing by the Bloesempark and goat farm! I also hear that in the little village there is a Dutch pancake shop that is a favorite of the locals, so you KNOW it's good. It's a bit tricky to get to by public transit from city center, so it may be easier to get a cab.

Yelp
Nothing inspires me more than nature! Amsterdamse Bos/ Amsterdam forest is truly an exceptional park in Holland. There are so many different ways to get to this park. I had the pleasure of cycling here with my Dutchman from the center of Amsterdam to the forest. I must say this park is truly a wonderful place to be on any given sunny day! I love this park because you can do almost anything here. This park is exceptionally planned to do a significant amount of sports. For example they have several wonderful activities spread out through the park for adults and children. Amsterdam Forest is one of the largest parks in Amsterdam, so there is no way you can get bored here. It offers so much to do! So enjoy it and may the park bring you new energy by day. Here is a list of things you can do in the Amsterdam Forest. You can take: -Stroll through park -Relax on the grass -Enjoy a Picnic -Cycle through the forest - Go horseback riding -Jogging on the trail -Plenty of watersports -Canoe on the lake -Climbing activities -Open Air Theater - Animal Farm in the park for Kids

Yelp
The Amsterdam Forest is the most bestest and and very much the awesomest forest of all forests in the whole wide world! Only a handful of people know the true story of the Amsterdam forest. It is the birthplace of elves, hobbits, dragons and also the Village People who gave us the bestestist song ever, YMCA. When entering the woods at the visitors Center, take a left. You'll see a tree. That tree is a magical tree. Place your hands (palm side) on this tree and hum for at least 20 minutes. Just do it. You will be rewarded. Do it. Tomorrow.

Yelp
Love it, 'het Amsterdamse bos' is the only place 'near' the city center where you feel like you're not in the city but in nature. It is easy to reach from the center of Amsterdam, it's great for running with different tracks, there are a couple of nice cafés and during the summer there are some great parties as well :-).

Yelp
This park is a must see!! After spending a day in the city center, it was nice to take a short tram ride to spend time at this park. We rented bikes and watched rowers and even went the petting zoo. The forest is very peaceful and the paths are nice and plentiful- not too crowded!

Yelp
The Amsterdamse Bos, the Amsterdam Woods, the woods of Amsterdam, whatever you wanna call it, is surprisingly unwooded for a place with "woods" (bos) in its name. I have been here often. It's a nice, big and a relatively quiet park. Yes, PARK. I wish this was a national park of some sorts with more natural and denser wooded areas, but alas. I guess I have too high expectations of a park that is situated below sea level and is only 80 years old, as of now. I would give this park a higher rating if it had an app where you could actually select which route you wanna follow and that it would assist you with GPS and maps where you are within your route. I mean, it's 2015! The longest route is the 15/16km (10 mile) "purple" route called "Lange Boswandeling". I pre-marked the route using the iOS app "NewRoute" and made sure I would cover at least 16 KM. I went late in the evening with some waterproof hiking boots which proved necessary in early January. It was dark, but not pitch dark. There was no artificial lighting besides the city lights around the edges of the park. I went during a full moon but alas, there were not many victims for me to prey upon. Perhaps the moon provided too much light for me to successfully stalk my prey. At some point I noticed someone walking ahead of me in the same direction, all by themselves. So I picked up my pace. I was careful not to startle them (yet). When they noticed some foot steps, they turned around but I made sure to seem as inconspicuous as possible by halting instantaneously in my footsteps and looking at the air above and about me while whistling with my hands in my pockets. Yeah, pro techniques! When they started walking again, I made sure to pick up my pace, this time while panting. When they turned around once more and called out in fear, I dropped and pretended to tie my shoelaces. Yeah... pro stalking methods. I was inconspicuous as f*ck! When they started running, I had no choice but to also run... after them. Thankfully, it was a full moon so I had more stamina (and body hair) than usual. Later, the police was friendly enough to play a game of tag with me. Unfortunately for them, I'm really good at this game and so they lost. I tried shoving their loss in their faces but the sight of flashlights, and the sound of search dogs just took all the fun out of it so I left the scene without telling them goodbye. What sore losers. Anyway, girls be careful when entering this park when it's dark and guys, stop being pussies and go for a hike! Leave your PlayStation for once. Get healthy! Don't forget: "NewRoute". It's free. Also check out "Walkmeter", while you're at it.

Yelp
I cannot gush about this place enough. We visited for the day while spending a week in the city. It was a ~20 minute bike ride to the forest from where we stayed (near Vondelpark). We chose a sunny day which was perfect for cycling through the green forests. The absolute highlight was the goat farm in the middle, where you're able to frolick with the baby goats, feed them and buy their produce in the great cafe on site. The best thing about the goat farm is that entry is free. After the goat farm we enjoyed a lovely cycle through the trees to one of the lakes in the forest, here we took out a pedalo and went for a swim. Visiting Amsterdamse bos made up one of the best days that we spent in the city. I would return just for this!

Yelp
The location is very poor, it took more than an hour to get to the city center. Bathroom and kitchen are filthy and you have to pay extra for everything - heating in the cold hut, hot shower, even toilet paper and matches to light gas in the kitchen. The worst thing is the owner, who apparently has serious mental problems. We got a hut infested with bugs and complained about it at the reception, so we got a new house. Still, we asked the owner about a possibility to get a discount because of that, as we were all covered with bugs bites after first night there. His response was yelling at us in a very aggressive way like someone mentally ill and telling us that we probably brought the bugs ourselves and have drunk or smoked too much so we invented the whole story and that we could leave if we didn't like it! I have never encountered such rude behaviour in any hostel or other type of accomodation in all my life!
