HI Athabasca Falls Wilderness Hostel

This is a wonderful piece of paradise. The manager Jeff has been doing an amazingly job for over 10 yrs. He's extremely knowledgeable about the area, very kind and helpful. The hostel has no running water but can use the jasper hi hostel to shower. The natural surroundings are prestigious and clean I will always stay here if possible.

Jeff really made this hostel a wonderful place to stay. We stayed in a couple of wilderness hostels while travelling through the parks, and HI Athabasca Falls was just something else. The rooms, kitchen and common area were all just so well equipped, clean and cozy that you felt right at home. Jeff’s attention to detail made you forget that you were staying in a wilderness hostel. We could only stay there the one night, since it was already fully booked four months in advance, and when we got there we understood why :) Thank you, Jeff!

This was an amazing hostel that we stayed in for 2 nights in June 24. Jeff was such a great host and was friendly, helpful and informative. We have been thinking of the hostel as the wild fires rage in July 24.We hope everyone is safe and that the beautiful hostel survives the fires.Thinking of you all .

This has to be the best hostel experience that we had on our Canada trip. It was one of the cleanest most welcoming hostels with every amenity that you could need. The communal kitchen and lounge space was fantastic and so homely. Not having a shower didn't bother us at all as it wasn't that warm but there was the option to shower at the HI in Jasper. We loved the peace and quiet and it was an easy 20 minute drive to Jasper.

For $40/ night during the August long when booked last minute, I was happy with my decision to stay here. Yes it is a hostel and we stayed at the 16- person cabin. But it was clean, safe and quiet. Bedsheets were provided and you can find various amenities (kithen, board games &lockers etc)at your disposal. No running water but there's an area available for a simple wash-up. Elks & sheep frequent the grounds, so if you enjoy wildlife, you won't be disappointed.

My favourite wilderness hostel. The common area it's just so cozy and very wel organized. Also it shows that the managers are trying to keep the place clean and tidy, which definietly helps. The only bummer was that when we were there it was a lso a big group, which kind of prevent us to connect with other travellers, but they were still nice and respectful. Also the bedroom was quite spacious, and all the little details, like some kind of curtains between bunkbeds, make the place really special. It really shows when someone puts the effort to make a place nice, much appreciated.

We had a great stay here, the hostel is in a fantastic location just a short walk from the falls. ||The common area is very well looked after and there is plenty of cooking equipment, seating etc. Unfortunately we did have a loud snoarer in our room for 2 nights, but this is something to be expected with shared rooms! Just remember to bring some earplugs just in case. ||The gentleman running the hostel was very knowledgeable and more than happy to help where needed, also siggestions on where best to visit in the area. We stayed in Sep 22 when there was a wildfire that closed most of Jasper town, he was mote than willing to help other travellers with changes to their ownward journeys. ||I would reccomend going to the falls early in the morning, they are absolutely stunning.

I stayed here for 1 night with my friend and we had the most amazing stay!! We would have extended our time at this hostel if we didn’t already have another one booked as we loved the Athabaska Hostel so much! It has everything you need for a comfortable and homey stay. The staff are super friendly and the place is very well kept. I even lost my apple watch there and an employee Jeff mailed it all the way back to my home in Ontario!! Would highly recommend to anyone!
