For the price, it was great. But if someone is looking for more information of first hand experience... The neighbourhood did not seem tourist friendly at 3am (my flight was delayed) but the hostel itself was secure enough. The wooden bed bunks were not very easy to climb up/down on especially in dark. Bathroom was small but clean and no foul smell. Towels were very small. Blankets were good enoughfor normal cold temperatures. Pillows were good as well. The staff is very friendly even at 3am. Kitchen is basic, had pancake mix...make your own pancakes. Overall i liked it.

So, I booked three nights, but left early and only stayed a night. I stayed in the private room and woke up to 3-4 fresh bites on my legs. They were bleeding and oozing. I don't know if they were bed bugs, but some sort of bug bit me without a doubt. Now the hostel itself is beautiful, full of character with excellent amenities. The location is very good. The private room was cozy, but I was waking up to cooking in the kitchen in the morning as it's right next to the kitchen. I always do an inspection of every room I stay in for cleanliness; I looked under the beds and it was FILTHY. The rooms may be cleaned, but whoever is cleaning the rooms is doing the BARE MINIMUM. I will say that my entire experience was fully refunded without issue. The staff connected with me and showed an understanding and concern of my experience. They explained that they would have a professional take a look at any potential bug situation in the room.

I stayed at HI for about 5 days and never felt this good in a hostel. I was greatly surprised to see such great service for this price. The staff was nice and helpful. The kitchen and living spaces are cosy and comfortable. The rooms are quite spacious and clean with bathrooms inside the rooms which is pretty cool. It can be noisy from the street at night, but nothing that would keep me from sleeping. I was cold at night and they nicely provided extra blankets. You will be able to do your laundry (bring your own change) in the basement. I definitely recommend this hostel.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. Beautiful old building, kind & accommodating staff and nice rooms. In my time at this hostel most everyone in my room (female dorm for 6) was asleep before midnight. It didn't strike me as a party hostel (I definitely didn't mind) but I saw they host bar crawls so that might not always be. Beautiful area, I felt totally safe. Really excellent hostel!

Such an amazing place. It's cheaper than a hotel/motel. There is a co-ed room, a men's room and a women's room. Each room also has a bathroom. There is a basement where there is a game room and a laundry room. You get a free breakfast every morning but you have to make it. You get the best coffee I have ever had. It's Zeke's and it's organic and local. The staff are friendly and helpful. I have stayed here twice and loved it both times.

The location is cool. Very old but pretty clean and well maintained by the staff. The staff is cool, polite and helpful. That being said, I will never stay in another hostel. The first two nights of our stay we had a guy whose snoring sounded like a shop vac sucking up rocks. Very little sleep those two nights. The final night of our stay we had a crazy dude in our room. He KEPT talking about how expensive my friend's shoes were (like he planned to steal them) and after listening to him having a ten minute phone conversation we realized there was no phone and he was talking to himself. All of us (my wife, my friend, a random guy that was also staying in the room with us and myself) left immediately and got a hotel room because none of us were sleeping with that guy in our room. We paid for 6 nights, stayed 4. Also the neighborhood is kind of sketchy. Heed my warning. Bite the bullet. Pay for a hotel room.

I absolutely love staying in HI Hostels. The interior of the building is absolutely gorgeous comfortable to hang out in the public areas. The staff were super nice and trying their best to resolve issues. Unfortunately the night I stayed here the AC was broken. And we were told multiple times that it would be fixed by that evening, it never got fixed and trying to sleep was extremely uncomfortable. Trying to keep the place cool, we had opened the windows which then lead to all the outside noise. I’m sure this place would get more stars if it weren’t for this particular incident.

The staff was SUPER friendly, especially Andrew and Navi! Navi literally gave me the shoes off her feet when she realized I was going to try and walk a mile in heels! She seriously saved my life (and my feet)! The location is literal perfection and the hostel itself has an old and cozy feel. The kindness of the staff truly make it feel like a home away from home. The female room was a little too warm for my tastes, but I get warm easily, so it's probably fine for most people. The building was older than I expected, but that only adds to the historic Baltimore feel. I have no regrets from my stay. No bugs or real problems. Breakfast was smaller than I expected too, but then again, I paid a fraction of the cost I would have paid in a normal hotel with zero breakfast, so I would definitely stay here again.
