I’ve been traveling across Europe, North America and Asia for over six months, usually staying in highly rated hotels and Airbnbs with private rooms and bathrooms. Out of all the places I stayed, this hostel was the most expensive, at over CAD 100 per person per night. Needless to say, expectations were incredibly high.
I found that this hostel had a good range of facilities. There was a bar, restaurant, and several common areas, including outdoor tables and hammocks. The kitchen was large with plenty of space, multiple appliances, a walk-in fridge, and a big freezer. Free parking was available for guests, and the hostel also provided a free unlimited local bus ticket for the duration of the stay. Activities were organized for guests to join, which added some variety. Check-in was easy, and the staff were very friendly.
On the other hand, the rooms had some drawbacks. There was no air conditioning, which made it hot and uncomfortable to sleep, and the beds did not have curtains. The lights next to the beds were very dim, and the overall design of the rooms and bunks felt dated compared to other hostels I’ve stayed in, such as Canmore Downtown Hostel.
Now I'm all for a good time, but karaoke on Friday night went on until after 1am, and because of the heat, I couldn’t close the windows. This meant that even the hostel’s own quiet hours weren’t respected.
